FMLE and blackmagic design ultrastudio sdi ?

hi all,
I would like to know if "blackmagic design ultrastudio sdi" works well with FMLE before buy one.
Regards
Nicolas

We (KulaByte/Haivision) have been working with Blackmagic engineering on the USB 3 issues.  It turns out that the Blackmagic DirectShow drivers had some issues that needed to be addressed; Blackmagic's native drivers have been working fine with USB 3.  The KulaByte encoder as well as FMLE use DirectShow drivers for capture and thus explains the problems we have all been experiencing with the USB 3 Blackmagic devices.  The DirectShow USB 3 issues have been resolved in the "Desktop Video 9.0 for Windows" driver and the Intensity Shuttle and UltraStudio Pro are both working with the KulaByte encoder; we will be testing the UltraStudio SDI but it should work if the other two do.  It is likely that FMLE will work now as well.
Regarding which laptop to use, we have successfully used the Dell E6420 and the Dell Precision M4600 which both have a relatively recent NEC/Renesas USB 3 chipset.  Make sure you update your laptop to the latest BIOS and follow the instructions with the Blackmagic USB 3 device to update both the firmware and driver for the USB 3 chipset except update to the most recent versions, not the older version shown in the Blackmagic instructions.

  • FMLE with Blackmagic Design H.264 Pro Recorder (or other similar HD-SDI to USB devices)

Anyone know is Flash Media Live Encoder will see the Blackmagic Design H.264 Pro Recorder as the video device?
    http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/h264prorecorder/
I have tested it with the Ion Audio Video2PC Mk II device and it works just fine.  That device is for capturing standard SD video at DVD res.
The BMD Pro Recorder has all the full broadcast standard inputs and puts it out to USB 2.0....
I called BMD and they said they haven't tested it but to ask Adobe.
    Thanks!

I talked with BMD and they said the H.264 recorder is not Microsoft Direct Show compliant.

  • FMLE and Blackmagic get stuck

    Hello,
I am using I7 / 8gb mem PC with BlackMagic Decklink Studio 4K encoder card.
I get a HD feed (1080i) from the SDI BM card, and encode to H.264 rtmp streaming to Wowza server.
When starting MFLE it shows image only on the output preview and not on the input (both are selected...).
When click on the Start button it freeze and show the "application is not responding" massage.
I know the Blackmagic cards and drivers are fine since i can successfully encode with other software (MediaLooks MWriter).
I tried to delete the startup.xml file, and reconfigure from scratch, but every time it get frozen again.
I tried to use different bitrate and with/without audio, but still get frozen.
    Please advice.

  • PP CC 2014.2 no longer will Playback to Blackmagic Design Mini Monitor. But CC and CC 2014.1 did.

The latest update to Premiere Pro has created problems. Sequences are frozen from playing and there is no video out to the broadcast monitor. If "Enable Mercury Transmit" is turned off then the timeline will play.  There is not a problem with the Blackmagic Mini Monitor as it works fine with AE CC 2014.2 or with Premiere Pro CC. And it worked fine with Premiere Pro CC 2014. Of course we can't use PP CC to open any projects created since updating to CC 2014. We are editing commercials and must have broadcast monitoring.  PLEASE HELP. AGENCY COMING IN TOMORROW FOR EDIT SESSION!
Also, another odd problem is that in this version when I open an existing project, it opens with random older sequences instead of what was open when it was saved/closed. This never happened in other versions.

I experienced the same problem. Try the following:
    1) Uninstall BlackMagic Design Desktop Video and Drivers completely.
    2) Reboot to finalize uninstall.
    3) Install old BlackMagic Design Desktop Video v.10.1.4.
    4) Restart
In my case rolling back to v10.1.4 helped to solve the problem.
Please report here if this works all right.
I am not sure who to blame: Adobe for their update or  BlackMagic Design for a buggy driver.

  • FCP, Beta SP and Blackmagic Multibridge Extreme capture card

I'm having problems getting a video signal into FCP via a Multibridge Exteme capture card by Blackmagic Design. I currently have device control and am able to view footage already in FCP on an NTSC monitor so it appears as though the capture card is working. I have my capture setting set to blackmagic NTSC-10 bit (i've tried several different settings). I have the deck connected to the card through the component ports. Here are the specs on what i'm working with:
    Mac Pro dual 3.0GHz Xeon
    10 GBs of RAM
Blackmagic Multibridge Extreme capture card w/ breakout box
    Sony PVW-2650 Beta SP player
    FCP 5.1.4
    Quicktime 7.1.6
    OSX 10.4.10

Under System Preferences go to the Decklink Preferences.
Change the input from SDI to Component and XLR audio
    Problem solved.

  • Blackmagic Design for HD (HDMI) monitoring from HDV?

Would like to get some input on Blackmagic designs Intensity HDMI HD Editing Card.
I was a little disappointed that my Sony HC3's HDMI output would not work with FCP have HDV (Firewire), but I found a good solution in the Blackmagic Designs Intensity that claims full support for HDMI monitoring in FCP (and I assume in Motion).
Seems like a relatively cheap solution $250. http://www.guygraphics.com/GGPROD-67258.html
The ability to record live HDMI input uncompressed via my Sony HC3 is definitely interesting (not sure how practical given this is a PCIe card for desktop Mac - perhaps in a studio situation).
    Thoughts?
    Thanks, Rob.

I don't use HDMI for anything, only sdi or hdsdi if I'm in the digital world.
Aja products are bullet proof and their tech support is bar none. I've installed many many many of their products in production facilities and control rooms and their quality is superb. I use many of their broadcast products, like the FS1 on a daily basis and I wish I had excuse to have an FS1 in my house.
At home, I have an LHe in my 2006 design Mac Pro quad. If you can follow directions, maybe do a forum search, the slot choice is a non-existent issue. Sometimes they have an issue with their Kona software but this is mostly due to Apple's constant toxic QT updates and a quick phone call to Aja sorts these things out in an instant. Aja also has a very good forum presence on the Cow, something BM does not.
Regarding HDMI, you'll need to find an hdsdi to hdmi adapter, like the [Hi5|http://www.aja.com/html/productsconvertersHI5.html] and yes, this all does cost more than BM products and the new Matrox MXO2 which seems to be a great product, but quite honestly, Aja products work out of the box, period.
I make no compensation at all from this recommendation but it'd be great of Aja if they'd cut me a break on a Kona 3 this spring......

  • Blackmagic USB3 Ultrastudio Pro experience?

I understand from the "Blackmagic Capture Cards?" forum thread that there can be difficulties with Flash Media Live Encoder and some Blackmagic capture cards. But I don't see the newer USB3 based Black Magic Ultrastudio Pro beeing mentioned (in a positive OR negative way..).
Anyone having any experience or thoughts about this sollution?
From the Blackmagic download site, I see that in the driver update from 23 July 2010 (Blackmagic USB 3.0 Desktop Video 7.7.3 for Windows) they specify "Fixed compatibility issue with Flash Media Encoder 3.1" among the improvements. I'm optimistic because of this, and if it works well (read: stable) I would think is a flexible sollution for my next streaming setup, but I really need to hear more thoughts (and if possible experiences) in this.
    Any feedback apreciated!

    Hi everyone,
that was a very interesting thread and sorry for bringing it alive, but I am still facing an important issue with FMLE and Ultrastudio pro as a broadcaster.
I purchased the MSI GE620 recommended by blackmagic and updated the USB3.0 driver as requested, however no matter what I do in the settings (Blackmagic or Flash Media Live Encoder), I only get a still picture in my input/output widnows. If I disable them that makes no difference...
I am a clueless at that point, as I tried to broadcast live but there is simply no video feed (Composite).
    Can someone help me please?
    Many thanks,
    l.

  • Premiere CS4 4.1 and Blackmagic Decklink

I've loaded CS4 4.1 along with the latest Blackmagic Decklink 7.2 update software. I can see my timeline playing on my production monitor but I have no audio. If I load a clip into a new project using just the DV-NTSC 4:3 option then I get audio but I don't see my playback on my production monitor. If I select new project and select the Blackmagic DV-NTSC 4:3 option then I see the playback on the monitor but I get no audio. I've tried to change the preferences in CS4 in the audio section to recognize the Blackmagic Audio output and still nothing. I've checked the Blackmagic audio drivers on my machine and they are recognized. Anyone have similar problem or ideas how to fix. Greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Have the same exact issues in our rig. Have the HD Extreme 3, with with our P6T7 WS SuperComputer MoBo with the intergrated SoundMAX HD audio and the Bose Companion 5 multimedia speaker system. I have contacted BM about this. Their support has been terrible to say the least. I have sent a couple emails in the past week with no response. I should have gone with the AJA Kona but thats another story. Our issue, which is similar to yours:
    (my email to BM)
We have the HD Extreme 3 and we just purchased a Panasonic BT-LH1710 LCD reference HD monitor. We have it connected via BNC in the SDI on the monitor and out of the Extreme card in the first BNC slot (closest to the breakout cable input). We just shot footage with the Panasonic Varicam 2700 and if we choose DVCPROHD 720p from the presets in Premiere 4.1, we can view the material that is in the source monitor on the Panasonic but once we put on the timeline and thus program monitor, we cannot see the footage on the Panasonic reference monitor. If we choose from the Blackmagic presets it does work. Do we have to use the Blackmagic presets for our footage to be seen on our Panasonic monitor even though we should be using what we shot in, which in this case was DVCPROHD 720p 24fps P2?
-Answer to this from what I gathered from others is: "You must always use a Blackmagic Design preset when you create a new Sequence. You will never ever get any out put from any other Timeline" Which I really don't know how that effects the project when cutting, if at all since we are not capturing from the card (thus using BM's CODEC but rather, using footage shot from our Panny P2's.
Second issue is audio, even when using the blackmagic presets, we cannot hear audio. I have the settings all correct in Premiere and can see the levels moving, just can't hear anything out of our speakers. The audio works fine with our speakers in every other preset but Blackmagic's (if we choose Premiere Pro Sound as the Audio Hardware and Audio Output Mapping). Once we switch to Blackmagic, we do not hear any audio.
-Answer - I have tried everything and am still unsuccessful and getting audio to play out o our BOSE speakers. It does play (not well) our of the Panny reference monitor but am still searhing for a solution. Under control panel for audio, it does show blackmagic audio and working but nothing as of yet. Kind of driving me crazy.
If you read the third post down http://forums.adobe.com/message/1989667#1989667 from Roger he kind of touches on it but still doesn't solve the issue.
I'd be interested to hear if you have a solution or really anyone has a solution.

  • Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro HDMI card

Hey I work with Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 on a Mac Pro OS x 10.5.7, and we are looking into getting a Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro HDMI card. I'm just looking for assurances that these cards do work with my version of final cut pro, and any tips or tricks to installing and working with them.
    Thanks,
    Tim McDonald

I have the Intensity, didn't need the pro. The card works, though sometimes flakey. Audio always work fine when playing through HDMI to monitor (if monitor has speakers) but video is hit or miss. While it does work more often than not, there are times when I have to sit and keep switching the resolution output from 720/60, to 720/59.94 to 1080i/59.94 and so on just to get a picture. It's annoying and honestly sometimes it takes 5 minutes to get it work.
Blackmagic's awesome support told me the reason I was having problems was because I had a cheap HDMI cable. Apparently it works flawlessly all the time with Monster $150 HDMI cables. Bulls...
Make sure you have the newest Blackmagic software. I believe they are on version 3.2.

I have seen an issue with the latest Blackmagic driver and capturing with the current version of Premiere. I would use Media Express to capture and then just import the files.

  • Does Flash Media Live Encoder work with all the blackmagic-Design Decklink Studio?

Does Flash Media Live Encoder work with all the Blackmagic-Design Decklink Studio?

Well, I have my XH A1 Canon video camera hooked up to Shuttle Thundbolt as composite and the thunderbolt to my Macbook Pro (Late 2011 - 2.4GHz, i7, 16GB Ram) and FLM 3.2 does not see my camera.
When I hook my same camera up to my Windows i7, 2.8Ghz, 8GB Ram using my "Hauppauge capture card" as composite it can see my camera.
I'm going to try a simple VHS tape deck and see if my macbook pro can see it using the Shuttle Thunderbolt. I'm going to guess and say it won't.
I installed the drivers as well.

  • Blackmagic Design Extreme Intensity

Hi! I would like to know if there are any plans to add the Blackmagic Design Extreme Intensity (Thunderbolt) video capture support to FCP X?
This was possible in FCP 7 and would be essential feature for me in my work flow... And I'm not alone with this wish, I pressume..

My bad.. didn't read the forum rules closely enough... Sorry.
But thanks. The answer was what I needed, not what I hoped for, though.

  • Black magic design UltraStudio mini doesn't work with FCPX

Does anyone have an idea why FCPX does not recognize the Black Magic Design UltraStudio Mini monitor?
The mac pro (late 2013) sees it in the thunderbolt bus. Adobe Premiere sees it and uses it just fine, but FCPX doesn't.
in the FCPX preferences for AV output it says: no device found.
    to answer questions:
    Mac Pro late 2013
    3.5GHz Xeon E5
    AMD Fire D500
    Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1
    FCPX 10.1.4
    BMD Desktop Video Version 10.3.2
so all apps & drivers are up to date.
    Thanks In Advance

As I put in a separate post. I can't find how to enable the high contrast feature in ADE. I can't find the command in the keyboard command help - but then again I'm trying to read black on white which is very hard for me.
ADE might not officially support Magic but the problem I have is that if I enable the magnification feature within Magic then the ADE window freezes and wont change. This is a problem which needs sorting out.
