FMS 3.5.3 on CentOS 5.5 / Fedora 13

Hi,
I managed to make working a FMS 3.5.1 On CentOS 5.5, but installing 3.5.2 or 3.5.3 don't work. I can't see any logs nor error messages.
Playing videos using the Adobe Sample Video Player works on 3.5.1 but don' with the newer versions.
I installed the different versions in exactly the same way.

This didn't worked, but installing Centos 5.5 32 bits allowed me to install FMS 3.5.3.
The links of lib is interesting for libasneu.so.1, which is in opt/adobe/fms/.
Now i have got issues with FMS 3.5.4 and fmsadmin ...

FMS 4.5 crashes on Centos 5.5 or above

Hi,
After upgrading to FMS 4.5.4 from FMS 4.0, we ran into this weird problem. FMScore started consuming 85 to 95 % of physical RAM. The drawback of it is after 3 to 4 days FMS crash down itself. Below are the logs for the same. We are doing live streaming (kind of live video chat). There are almost 400 users and max 10 to 12 simultaneous video conf during the busy hours.
Core Hw/Sw Configuration:-
Processor :- Interl Xeon E5620 2.40 Ghz
Ram         :- 16GB
OS           :- Centos 5.5
Note:- We never faced this kind of issue with FMS 4.0

Running FMS on Virtual Server

Hi,
I'm trying to run FMS 2.0.4 on Centos 4.3 on a VPS. It can
install fine, contrary to many CentOS users I read about on the
forum. However, when I start it, I seem to lose all connectivity
whatsoever. Very weird. I have tried countless tcpdumps and lsof
and netstat and after days of debugging I still cannot find the
problem.
I am wondering if someone else has experienced the same
problem as me, and what did you do to fix it.

IF you want to run the Forms from the IDS, installed on the Developer's PC, then you use the default OC4J that comes with it.
On the developer's PC, you can go to the $ORACLE_HOME/install/portslist.ini to check which port number your HTTP server is.
In the Forms runtime preferences you use http://localhost:{port number}/forms/frmservlet
On the developer's PC you then run "Start OC4J" to start the HTTP server, once the server is started then you try again running your Form from the builder.
Don't confuse Application Server with IDS which has its own OC4J, the first one runs on the server and the latter on a developer's PC.
Why don't you want developers to use their own OC4J?

FMS connections doesnt disconnect

I am running application instance that implements publisher/subscriber on video streams. Application code is very thin and can be removed completetly if required. In a specific time, randomly, disconnect messages stopped happening which causes the folowing:
1. Streaming service shows decrease of bw per second
2. Users count is increasing linearly.
3. No disconnect messages apears on access.0x.log
This happens on AWS instance with FMS 4.0.2 : AMI:
fms-4.0.3.8001-centos-5.5-ami-2 (ami-2f945346) with xlarge configuration.
I understand that in the above link this problem was not solved. Any updates on this ?

well this is called a ghost connection and I have two soultions for it I have a custom server side script that contontinously calls to a client side script kinda works like a ping saying " are you there"? client says "yes i am" ......if the client stops saying "yes i am" then after a count of 5 the server hard disconnects the client......the other thing you can do is use a javascript on the html page that says just before window close call to the flash client and tell it to disconnect its connection to the server something like nc.close();

MaxConnections bug with FMS 3.5

The MaxConnections tag in FMS 3.5 vhost.xml is not being honored. FMS is reading the vhosts and creating them, but not honoring MaxConnections. An unlimited number of connections are available to all vhosts. I have tried setting MaxConnections to 0 and connections can still be created. e.g.
<MaxConnections>0</MaxConnections>
This problem did not exist with FMS 3.0. Can someone confirm this bug for me? I'm running FMS 3.5.1 on CentOS.

We identified a bug (2320697) with <MaxConnections> in 3.5.1 –> will be fixed in 3.5.3.

Admin Console isn't available

I have just installed WebLogic on two systems (both different OSs) and neither of them allow me to use the admin console. The address was given to me at the end of the setup and there were several addresses, one for SSL. I tried the two that were provided to me but there isn't anything there when I put the address in the browser, I just end up with a "site not found" page. After that, you'll have to open both ports 1935 for FMS (if you choose it by default) and 1111 for the Admin Server.
You can use this SSH command as root user to open a port on your Centos Based firewall:
"iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 1935 --syn -j ACCEPT"
"iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 1111 --syn -j ACCEPT"
If you would like to open a udb port for FMS, you can use this SSH command:
"iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 1935 -j ACCEPT"
*Without the quotes....
You can use yougetsignal.com to see if the ports are open on your mydomain.com or IP and accessible from the public.
If both ports are open on you Server's firewall, you'll have to be sure that FMS and the Admin Server are running, otherwise yougetsignal will told you that the ports are closed while they're open, because there's no services using them.
To start FMS and the Admin Server, do the following command:

Proper http streaming

I have a question regarding httpstreaming
we have fms running with multiple smaller mp4 files about 50 MB in size.
When played they start playing immediatly but still are cached/downloaded in directory C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp of the clients
Now we have issues with a large file of 890 MB, which is not being played, clients need to download this complete file to play it.
Does the streamingpart doesn't work well on our server?
Please help since we getting a lot of complaints from viewers.

I think you are progressively downloading the files via HTTP and not using HTTP Streaming per se. Since you are using 4.0.3 - you would first have to offline package all your media files and then host it properly and you would have to use OSMF based player client.

Jrun4 admin console won't start

after restarting the default and admin services, i noticed
the default-out.log indicated it was listening on port 8100.
there's no such entry for the admin-out.log, though it says "No

Amazon EC2 AMI -- can it be modified?

Wondering if I'm allowed to modify and save the flash ami "adobe-flashmediaserver-useast/fms-4.0.1.8011-centos"?
It'd be nice to not have to reinstall and configure everything every time I run an instance.

I think your answer is referring to other images that people provide by AMI's, but it doesn't cover anyone who wants an image of FMS on an AMI, right? the AMI provided by Adobe doesn't seem to allow it to be converted into a personal AMI. (BTW, I might be completely off in my information... I'm a newbie and most of the links on EC2 information at Adobe are broken.)
If I cannot save changes/modifications for my application, what use is it for the public?
I would expect that I should be able to do the following.
- Take the public image provided by Adobe for FMS
- Modify by adding a database (or anything else) that might application needs
- tweak other configuration data and store (mount S3 or EBS)
- save / create as an AMI so I don't have to reconfigure every time I want to stop/restart an instance.
Does anyone know if this can be done? I'm suspecting that Adobe has only released this for developers to play in a sandbox and not for a serious application that people will use in production. i actually hope that I'm wrong, but with Adobe not publishing information makes it look like people are only just playing with it.

How to install Fedora and Ubuntu on MacBook Pro?

I've asked this question on facebook groups "Linux" and "CentOS" but got no perfect answer. Again I'm asking the exact question here in hope of getting perfect answer...
I want to "Install" (CentOS 6.0/Fedora 15) or greater" on MacBook Pro (15", Mid 2010, core i7, 2.66 GHz). CentOS/Fedora is the only alternative to Red Hat Enterprise Linux I could come up with. Virtual installation is not my option and I can't use services like "updates" with RHEL unless I pay them.. so CentOS/Fedora is the one that I need.
Need help to install CentOS on MacBooK Pro. Also is it possible to have Ubuntu along side of CentOS?? ..

If you do not want any form of virtualization, the only other option would be wrangling with BootCamp to see if you can do a native install. From what I have read, BootCamp tries very hard to allow you to install just Windows OS, but there may be some way to do it successfully.
Suggest you visit the BootCamp forum.

Using Tomcat URL rewrite valve

Looks like the latest version of Tomcat has added support for URL rewriting similar to Apache mod_rewrite
I can't seem to find any documentation other than the page above.
Has anyone used this to, for example, rewrite APEX URLs from http://host:port/apex/... to http://host:port/pls/apex ? Where should we put the RewriteCond and RewriteRule directives?

I just went though this, spent about two days trying to figure out how to do with only tomcat and gave up. I found and used urlrewrite.. The instructions are right on main page but are vague. I've given "hints" below. My info assumes you renamed ords.war to apex.war.   I tried to post full details of my exploits/trials/troubles using the Oracle blog but it errored out.

Step 1 say to place the file in WEB-INF/lib. For Tomcat, WEB-INF is the Tomcat application directory, mine was /opt/apache-tomcat-7.0.56.   Place in the <tomcat_app_dir>/lib directory.
Step 2 says to edit the web.xml file, adding the config text for urlrewrite. This file is located in <tomcat_app_dir>/ROOT/WEB-INF Copy text and paste just above the </web-app> tag at the bottom of the <tomcat_app_dir>/ROOT/WEB-INF/web.xml file.
Step 3 talks about editing urlrewite.xml file, which doesn't exist. You must create this file, in the same directory, <tomcat_app_dir>/ROOT/WEB-INF. The following is the contents of mine.

You can check that urlrewite is working by accessing the admin/test page from the localhost....<servername>:8080/rewrite-status. The page shows you the rule and what it thinks it's going to do.
You now need to restart Tomcat and your old URL <servername>/pls/apex should work for your users who have bookmarked your old apex apps. It works for the new URL as well: <servername>/apex
I noticed you are also referencing port numbers in your sample url. Take a look at this blog post below, specifically step 6 and 7 to learn how to redirect to 80, so you don't have to use a port.

FMS 4.5 and CentOS 6.1

FMS 4.5 lists CentOS 5.5 as a supported OS. Has it been tested on CentOS 6.1? Setting up a new server with FMS 4.5 and wondering if it's best to stick with CentOS 5.5 or if it should be OK to use CentOS 6.1. Thanks.

Everything seems to check out ok. I've tried the server in multiple configurations. Cent OS 6.2, 6.1, 5.5 with no firewall (iptables --flush). All instances seem to fail in the same way.
Though I believe this may be issue with my web host. I'm currently using Mediatemple.com and their VE service and this is where I have issue.
http://mediatemple.net/webhosting/ve/.   I don't believe they are blocking ports, so must be something else.
Does FMS have any known issues in the Virtuozzo environment?
I have CentOS 6.2 running on a local machine.... and FMS will work without any special configuration!!

FMS on CentOS

Hello,
I'm having trouble getting FMS2 installed on CentOS. I have
looked all over for information, but can't seem to solve the
problem. After a fresh install in everything appears to install OK,
it says server started.
So i think everything is working fine. When i go to load an
application I get this in the logs:
Failed to create thread (TCServerConnector::startConnector)
Server aborted
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Smidge12,
At this point I cannot still help you because I cannot even
run the fms server, only the admin server.
Which version of CentOS are you running? Did you also have to
install compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3.i386.rpm. This one made it
the installer to go through.
Do you have both servers running , ie, admin and fms?
If you have any hints or links to provide me, I'd be
grateful. May be once I get to running both servers I get the same
error and we both can tackle the problem.

Unable to start fms on centos x86_64

Gettting the following error after installing fms on the
centos 4.3 x86_64:

openssl is installed, and the lib is there -
