Fms 5.0 Sound Video Delay

My video chat program on fms 3.5 windows server 2003 run sound when the screen is not delayed, but the program is placed in fms 5.0 window when server64-bit operating system will generate sound and picture 6-15 second delay, how is this problems going on, I hope not the server, ask someone experienced it, how to solve.

I am also experiencing this. I am running Flash Media Server on my dedicated CentOS host, and finally connect a single RTMP stream fine and am able to embed and play back the stream, but I am getting constant buffering pauses (approx every 5 secs) and audio/video out of sync. by at least 5 seconds. My CPU with Flash Live Encoder is a powerhorse, never over $25 processor or ram usage while streaming, and my upload internet speed is averaging 6-8 mbps which should be more than adequate.
Any suggestions would be great.

  • FMS for syncing background video

I have a question regarding which version of Flash Media Server will best serve the project I am currently working on and whether the approach I have in mind is possible with FMS.
The project envolves Flash Media Server syncing a dynamic background across multiple Flash Players running on separate computers on the same local network. One approach is to have FMS handle the variables and calculation on its side and communicate this to the other Flash Players (this I understand can be done with the Streaming Server).
The second approach is to have FMS execute ActionScript on its own side to create the dynamic background and then serve this out as a video stream to the other computers. (With this approach FMS can completely takeover the processing required to generate the background content and the other computers only need to play it back as video. Is this type of approach possible with FMS and, if yes, with which version.
If I am unclear about any part of my question, please feel free to ask. Thank you.

Scenario 1 is possible with any version of FMS. The caveat to that is, if using Streaming Server, you'll need a .swf client (or other client that can send AMF data over a netstream) to send the data across a netstream using netstream.send(). The reason for this is that Streaming Server cannot execute server side actionscript, so the data has to be published to the stream from the client side.
Scenario 2 is not possible with any version of FMS. FMS can't composite video or draw video frames, it can only serve pre-recorded video content or live streams published from client side applications.

  • NO Audio output Device is installed as well as NO sound, video, or game tab in the device manager

Here is the issue I had with with my Compaq F700 series laptop. The sound was working one day and then not working the next. Over the volume icon there was a big red X and the warning that  No Audio output Device is installed. I also found that there no longer was the sound, video, game tab in the device manager. It had gone missing.
I couldn't use most of the fixes as they require having the sound, video, game tab available and this tab was, as I said missing. I tried reinstalling the sound drivers from the manufacturer’s website as well as using the driver re-install, but at each attempt it would fail as a result of not having any audio devices installed on the computer.
I tried doing the system restore and rolling it back but the problem didn't get resolved. What eventually worked was restoring the system to a MUCH earlier date, like a month prior to the problem. When the restore finished the sound was still not fixed. HOWEVER, the computer OS (WINDOWS 7) needed to re-install a bunch of updates and after the updates were installed, everything was working. I suspect that the original issue was a bad update (the updates didn't install correctly) and that by rolling the system back to a time prior to the bad updates and then re-installing the update was the fix.
With that said, if the restore option doesn’t work or can’t be done I would try looking through the add/remove programs in the control panel and uninstall the most recent system updates, then restart computer and let the updates re-install.
    Good Luck

Only option that I see in the BIOS is under Security.  Audio Device: Hidden or Available. It was set to available and I left it at that. Still no audio.
Really? Nothing? This computer is one year old. Absolutely no reason for this to be happening. What a joke.

Hi! I´m having problems with showing video files in Qlab on my Macbook Air. It started suddenly. Consulted a sound/video technician who told me to "blow out" my Mac. Was told to use cmd+r  when restarting. Is this the right way to clean up my Mac? And is it likely that some kind of bug is causing problems for Qlab to show video files? I´ve already tried with a bunch of different video files and sometimes Qlab plays them and sometimes not. I need the Qlab playlist for a theatre show and only have a week until showtime so starting to really worry. Is there anyone out there who can help?

Your Mac runs maintenance in the background for you.
Command + R gives you access to restore, repair, or reformat the drive using OS X Recovery
No idea why that was suggested.
You may have a third party video player installed that's causing an incompatibility issue.

  • External iSight camera video delay in 10.5.2

Since upgrading from Tiger to Leopard, external iSight camera has a short video delay which renders it unusable for video conferencing in iChat AV. Has any one noticed this? The cam has the latest firmware so that is not the problem. The delay is very obvious in Photo Booth as well. The delay is also apparent on my Macbook Pro 17 with built in iSight. Is this normal?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, bzamp1
I do not experience the delay you describe, but I do not have any known solutions to offer. Because the problem is the same on all of your Macs including your MacBook Pro, you can rule out processor speed as the sole problem.
Some iNtel Mac users report poor AV sync in Photo Booth even though they are running no other applications and have plenty of free space on their hard drives. However, you experience the problem with other apps, too. The fact that your problem occurs with multiple software applications remove candidate issues like bad applications software, low internet connection speeds, or improper network configuration.
If you updated to 10.5.2 via your Mac's Software Update... feature, try the following:
    • Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    • Repair permissions. (Click here if you need help.)
    • Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.5.2 Combo Update.
    • Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.

  • How do I create a variable video delay of a live stream...

I have a live video feed from my webcam in my Flash Application. I have a second video window next to it that I want to place a variable delayed video of the live stream. Therefore, I need to save the video stream in memory/disk and create this variable delay, say 5-60 seconds. As well as, continue to capture the live stream. The camera I am using suppots H.264 encoding.
How do I create a variable length queue or buffer to hold the video stream coming into the flash application. Do I create a memory variable or write this to disk ? I have been looking over the ActionScript 3.0 documentation and I can not figure out how to code this either way ( as a memory variable or write to disk queue ).
I want to be able to change the delay, view the delay stream in slow motion and scrub through the delayed stream.
I would like to do this with out having to use Flash Media Server.
    Thanks,
    Bob

I am sure it is practically impossible to accomplish that on the client side. Although theoretically it is conceivable to use NetStream.appendBytes() but it requires an extremely complex implementation.
I suggest you look into FMS DVR capacities:

  • Sound-video ratio

When I assembled my show in Imovie everything was the way I wanted it. The video clips & still pics, music, etc. After I exported it to IDVD & burned the dvd everything was okay the pictures & the coreography to the music, but the video clips inside the show had the sound running on about a 2 second delay. When the next still slide after a video clip showed up you could still hear part of the video clip on the still pic that wasn't supposed to be there for about 2 seconds or so. I was wanting to know what was causing this. I tried various things to figure it out, but couldn't come up with an exact reason. Again, the IMovie show was in sync and everything. I gave the presentation through IMOVIE, the loss of sound being in sync came when I burned it to a dvd using IDVD afterwards. Help....? I just don't want this to happen again when I make a presentation for next year.

    Adam,
Could be that you had 12 bit audio, not 16 bit in your original DV from your camcorder. iDVD hates this it can cause a lot of problems.
Other sound sync issues can be fixed in iMovie, even when they are only apparent in iDVD. Using "extract audio" can solve many of them. The same issues that are listed on the iMovie forum will often help iDVD audio sync issues:

  • FMS 3 - Choppy Live Video

We were using FMS2 for a while and recently switched to
3.0.2, ever since then our video is being really choppy. The config
files changed quite a bit so we are unsure if we missed settings
somewhere or what. Our stream used to be extremely smooth. We are
using on2 vp6 for our streaming, we use stream from digital rapids
and we push 2 streams up 512k and 350k. The network checked out
fine from our streaming location. We currently have 1 origin and 2
    edge servers.
Anything you guys can point us towards would be great.
EDIT: We noticed a better stream going back to FME, from
Streams. We are calling Streams on Monday to see if its a version
issue since we switched to FMS3.

To increase server performance, FMS 3 comes up with Aggregate
Messages(new feature) set to enabled in Application.xml. This might
introduce a choppy experience when NetStream buffer on client side
    is very small.
Assuming that it might be the real cause in this case, the
    fix includes:
    - Increasing NetStream buffer on client side to a suitably
higher value (1-5 seconds or more).
    - (when delay due to buffering is undesirable) Modifying
Application.xml to disable Aggregate messages/publisher queues.

  • Macbook to TV via DVI-HDMI cable - video delay

    Hello All,
I have my Macbook, on occasion, attached to my Samsung LCD via Apple's mini DVI to DVI adapter, plugged into a DVI to HDMI cable, which is attached to my TV. The audio is routed from the headphone jack on the Macbook to the associated Audio input on the TV.
Problem I'm having, is that the video seems delayed to the TV, by a matter of milliseconds. I've verified this by putting the Macbook in mirror mode, and I can visually see the changes in picture on the Macbook a few milliseconds before the TV displays them. Since the audio is perfect and real time, I'm looking at video on the TV that's out of sync with the audio, albeit by a few milliseconds.
I don't think the picture problem can be solved - it's most likely just the nature of the technology, as the signal can pass much faster to the internal display than an external, and the TV in general might be causing the delay as well. I've tried video game mode, and setting the TV as the primary display, and it does not help.
So now, what I'm looking for, is an application that I can launch when I want to use this setup that will delay the audio out of the headphone jack. If I can delay the audio at the same rate as the picture, than I'm all set.
Does anyone know of a program that can do this? Ideally, I'd love to have this program run when FrontRow is enabled.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
    -Mark

Good luck on finding a program that will delay the audio. Perhaps running the audio through an amp and then to your monitor would "slow" it down a trifle. Maybe the video "slows" down converting from DVI to HDMI?
Seems like a lot of trouble for a little gain.

    Hi,
Download and install the Audio driver on the link below.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50720.exe
When this installation has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • RMBP, Chrome, Youtube: Video delays when in full screen

    Hi all,
I have a retina Macbook Pro running Mac OS X 10.8.2, Chrome 25.0.1364.99. When I watch youtube videos there is normally no lag. Once I switch into full screen mode, there's a slight delay where instead of the video the screen will show a blank white screen before switching to the video.
This results in a slight 0.5-1s lag of the video behind the audio.
Opening the same video on Firefox and going to full screen doesn't result in this blank white screen and does not result in video lagging behind audio.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you,
    it also worked for me

Had the exact same problem the past couple of days, was really frustrating as it was making videos play delayed in full screen and I tried searching for it everywhere but couldn't find any solutions.
Anyway, what I did has fixed it as a temporary workaround:

You need to disable the first of the two entries...which I have highlighted in Bold above.
    Hope that helps.

  • I want to display live video in LV, with the option to click on "delay" button, to view what happened N s. ago (i.e., a variable video delay)?

Hi. I have a standard video camera + PCI 1408. I can nicely show the current image, using LL Ring examples. I want a boolean switch so I can switch from watching the live video to the video recorded N seconds ago. My initial hope was to use LL Ring, with
lots of buffers, and copy/extract either latest buffers or a buffer several acquisitions ago. However, this seems to add no delay at all. Suggestions please? Thanks Patrick

    Patrick,
What I start with is the sequence acquisition. I change it from one time to continuous, and simplify it a little bit.
I have included an example that shows how to set up a buffer and display delayed video.
One thing you have to do is open MAX and change the maximum number of buffers for IMAQ to something larger than 50. I usually select around 2000 buffers so that I never run out.
