FMS on AMS

Hello All,
I purchased FMS 4.5 for Amazon web services (AWS)  but there is no Amazon Machine Images for this verison. When I purchase the AMS verison of FMS 4.5 it comes with a licence key and it haves a generate to generate more keys. However when I install FMS it tells me that my key is invalid. The only download I get is the devleoper download but the key does not work for it... Has anyone encourter this and have a solution to this.
The only machine images available is the FMS 3.
Thanks

Hi,
Please be informed that FMS 4.5 is still not available on AWS. The latest release you have access to, is 4.0.3. Once you subscribe to FMS services, you will be able to create instances of the same. No additional downloads are required. Please make sure that you are subscribed to FMS on AWS by hitting this: https://aws-portal.amazon.com/gp/aws/user/activation/index.html
Thanks!

  • Current/planned support for HTML5/getUserMedia in FMS/AMS

    Hello,
AMS/FMS already supports HTML5 video playback, which is great.  However, more users every day are asking about support to record videos using HTML5.  Many users just read an article about getUserMedia and ask us if we plan on supporting this for recording.  The truth is, we don't know what and how Adobe plans on supporting this in Adobe Media Server.
Can someone comment on the status of recording streams using HTML5 and the time expected to be eventually supported?
    Thanks!

No, Apple never pre-announces what phones will be supported in the future.
In fact Apple is, by and large, leaving the support of new phones up to third-parties and the phone manufacturers, via iSync Plugins, so you'd be better off looking to them for guidance:

  • Any migration tips/steps from FMS 4.x to AMS

    Hello,
I have a system which uses FMS4.5 and I am tasked to upgrade it to AMS 5.x.
We have several scripts and prprietary code which relies on old nomen clature and directory structure.
I was wondering whether there is any document which helps to do a smooth upgrade in such cases.
    Thanks,

    Resolved:
Needed to assign all constraint to admin user also.
I was assumed that admin must be having access to all objects, and wont require to assign constraints.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Unable to Stream Video on Demand files from NAS on latest version of AMS 5.0.3

    Hi,
I was hoping that someone could assist me.
Our organisation has recently purchased Adobe Media Server Standard to deploy to two Windows 2008 R2 servers (core edition) to stream flash content (video on demand only) which is resident on NAS storage.
I have considerable difficultly in streaming content from NAS and from the literature I have read and the configuration I have done it should be possible.
The steps I have taken to attempt to get this to work are as follows:
    Installation
    - Installed AMS 5.0.1 on both servers using the default TCP ports and Apache was not installed as part of the install
    - Both AMS instances upgraded to the latest release AMS 5.0.3
    - Windows Firewall on the servers disabled (we use hardware firewalls) and TCP connectivity verified by using telnet to connect these servers on 1935 and 80
    Initial Configuration
    - As we only will be using video on demand I removed the live, livepkgr and multicast applications from the /applications folder. Vod is the only application remaining
    - Using the videoplayer in the /samples/videoplayer we were successfully able to view the sample streams
    Configuration to stream from NAS
    - I modified the VOD_DIR in the ams.ini file in the /conf folder to reflect the NAS location (\\{nas FQDN\sharename}
    - Our NAS share has NTFS permissions applied and our AMS servers are joined to Active Directory. I created an AD account that had membership of the group that had read rights to the NAS share.
    - I then reconfigured the AMS windows service to Log on with the AD account (as per the install guide: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/adobemediaserver/configadmin/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f2925 e64-7fc7.2.3.html)
    Issues Experienced
    - Whenever I change the AMS windows service to use an AD user (and not the Local System account), the service will run for only a short time (time often varies) before the service stops. In the application event log the AMS (Core) component
logs the error "Failed to create process mutex".
    - The issue experienced is similar to a previous post by an FMS 3.5 user (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650522)
    Troubleshooting:
    - To rule out a permission issue, I confirmed that the AD user created could actually read from the NAS share
    - I also gave the AD user read/write permission to the AMS install directory. I have also added the AD user to the local admin group. Still get the "Failed to create process mutex" error and service stops.
    - We created a test share on the NAS that had no restrictions set (everyone full control) and reconfigured the ams.ini to use this. The service still stops.
    - I reconfigured the ams.ini back to the default path (local storage) and attempted to start the AMS windows service with the AD account. The service still stops which seems to confirm the issue is not related to the NAS storage/permissions itself
    - I gave the servers machine account from AD read/write access to the NAS shares (both test and live shares) and reconfigured the AMS windows service to use the local system account. Whilst the windows service remains stable and runs,
      streams do not work
    - I have been testing using rtmpdump and a player (http://osmf.org/configurator/fmp/):
       - With the player the player connects and the stream remains in a "buffering state"
       - With rtmpdump we get the "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound" error. The stream definately exists. I have the rtmpdump log file but not sure how to upload it to this post
    - The above issues/behaviour is experienced from both servers
    Workaround:
    - The only way I can get NAS streaming to work is to map the NAS share as a network drive from the server
    - On the same server I then stopped the AMS windows service and started AMS as a console application (ams.ini is pointing to the NAS location)
    - Streaming then works however this is not an exceptable workaround for a enterprise server that will be streaming content to the Internet. Having to rely on mapped network drives and console applications is certainly far from ideal.
Should it be possible to have the windows service run under the context of another account and to be able to stream without then having to have a mapped network drive?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Jason
UPDATE: to add further, I have just tested this on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard edition with the full UI and I get the exact behaviour/problems as documented above. The issue I am experiencing is not related to the fact I am using the core edition of Windows.

    HI,
I have managed to address my issue and get this working!
When reconfiguring the AMS service to use the AD account you MUST also reconfigure the Adobe Media Administration Server to use the AD account.
This mismatch in accounts was causing the mutex issue and stopping the AMS account from running. Read access to the NAS and log on as a service right on the AMS server
was all that required for the stream from NAS to work.
If any Adobe staff read this thread - can I please request that the section on "Mapping Directories to Network Drives" in the "Configuring the Content Storage" section of the help guide (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/adobemediaserver/configadmin/adobemediaserver_5.0.3_config_adm in.pdf) be revised to be clearer as to what windows services need to be reconfigured
    to support AD authentication
    Thanks
    Jason

  • How do I enable SSL to serve swfs and non video content in FMS 4.5

I'm running FMS 4.5 with the built in Apache server on a Windows 2003 server running SP2.  Our users are complaining that embedded videos in Chrome aren't displaying properly because the SWFs and some of the non video content are being delivered over http instead of https.  I'm having trouble finding any documentation on how to add an SSL cert to the Apache server and enabling it to serve content over 443.  I've requested my cert and am following my CA's docs on adding the cert to Apache, but I'm not seeing the VirtualDirectory referenced in the httpd.conf file.  I'm relatively new to Apache configuration, so please include as much detail as possible in your answer.  Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Look for httpd-hls-secure.conf file in AMS(FMS) Apache Bundle. httpd.conf includes this file. This enables SSL for key delivery for HLS. You may like to do the same for other cases.
Other than this, you have to enable the LoadModule mod_ssl in httpd.conf.

  • FMS edge hybird mode

I need help to setup FMS edge can stream video from a FMS-core (or from other FMS-edge). configuration diagram:
    FMLE ==> FMS-core ==> FMS-edge ==> users.
    on FMS-edge i have a application on
    C:\AMS\applications\myapp
if i did not change anything in Vhost.xml file (path: C:\AMS\conf\_defaultRoot_\_defaultVHost_\Vhost.xml). The myapp application is ok, but can not see the video stream rtmp://FMS-edge/live/livestream.
    if i change Vhost file:
    <Proxy>
                        <Mode>remote</Mode>
    <RouteTable protocol="">
                                  <RouteEntry>FMS-edge:1935;FMS-core:1935</RouteEntry>
Then video stream is ok but application don't.
In this case, setup FMS-edge hybird mode. 1 Vhost setup as local mode to serve myapp application, and 1 Vhost setup as remote mode to serve streamming video from FMS-core, right?
    Tony

    hey one541_,
i believe for you to be gettiing .proxy files you must be having disk caching enabled. These are created to handle process mutex.  These files get removed as soon as fms shuts down. If these are not getting deleted maybe you are not shutting the edge server (in the edge origin configuration) down properly or you are not shutting down at all.

  • Persisting legal FMS 5.0 licenses on Amazon Web Services through future up-sizing?

I am running the developer version Flash Media Server 5.0.1 (Windows) on a x64 Amazon Web Services small instance VM. The starter AMI for the server was one of the stock AMIs built by Amazon.
I have a shiny new license for FMS Professional but not yet applied to FMS.
I want to apply the license now and continue running as a small instance until I need more performance. Eventually I will want to gradually and periodically up-size it to increasingly larger AWS instances.
Is this possible with the FMS license?
Will I have any issues of invalidating the license because the underlying hardware configuration changes?
What will I need to do to ensure that I can upsize the same server (not create a new one) without invalidating the FMS license?
What other issues should I know about that I am too ignorant to ask?
    Thanks,
    Ken

I understand that I must terminate one instance.
I am not trying to run two instances (virtual computers) with a single AMS license.
Are you saying that I can freely "move" the license from one instance to another as long as the license is applied to only one instance (server) at a time?
I need to know if changing the number of virtual cpus and/or the ram will invalidate the AMS license activation.

  • IIS and FMS on two different Server

         Hey guys,
I was trying to see if this scenario is posible. i believe it is but i am trying to see what would it be the best set up right now. I see a lot of docs where both service run on the same box, but i have not seen any if the services are running on diffetnet boxes. Many papers mention the issue with port 80 but since i have 2 boxes i dont have that issue,
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

I see you've already posted this in resurrecting an old thread on the Adobe Media Server (formerly Flash Media Server (FMS)) forum

This forum is more for general assistance with downloading and installing Adobe products.
You'll get more specialized assistance from the AMS forum.

    Feedback Report            : ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
File gets corrupted, this has happened with both video or just audio, over a long period of live recording.  The stream is sent via netstream.append and all users can play subscribe without issue.  however upon playback the file is only partially able to play back. and in many cases the file size is grossly oversized
    Steps to reproduce bug:
1.record a stream to FMS using flash player
    2. after an 1hr of recording stop publishing the stream
    3. wait 20 seconds and append the stream and let it publish for 19mins then stop for 20...continue to do this till you hit a 2.5hr mark.
Results: Some recordings will work as expected while 1 in 15  the file will play upto a random time without playing the full duration. The file size is also much greater than an equivalent file playing for the same duration
    Expected results:
The file should play the full duration and the file size shouldn't be so drastically larger than a file that recorded the same equivalent time.

  • How to rotate Apache2.2/logs/access_log without restarting AMS 5.0.1 on AWS.

The Adobe Media Server 5.0.1 docs say that Logging.xml controls rotating of the Apache access_log file but its not rotating and I don't see how to configure it in Logging.xml.
Logging.xml takes care of the AMS log files like Access.log but it doens't seem to handle the Apache logs. I've seen where you use logrotated to rotate the Apache logs, then issue a "reload" to the service, but AMS controls Apache and the AMS service only supports start, stop, and reload which takes a minimum of 5 to 10 seconds to reload the server. How can I rotate the Apache logs using Logger.xml or how can I issue a reload directly to Apache when the AMS scripts control it?
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/adobemediaserver/configadmin/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f2926 0bd-7ffa.2.3.html

To rotate the apache logs you need to pipe them through a third party tool (i saying that there may be something in apache I may have read once, however here is a tried and tested solution assuming you are on linux), Logging.xml is only for FMS (well it was for 4.5.5 and before).
    Download cronolog (http://cronolog.org/)
    Change your log directive
    From: CustomLog "logs/access.log" combined
    To: CustomLog "| /mnt/apps/cronolog/sbin/cronolog -S /mnt/fms/Apache2.2/logs/access_log /mnt/fms/Apache2.2/logs/%Y%m%d_access.log" combined
    Restart apache
You logs will now roll daily on the first time they are written toie the logs dont roll at midnight, but the first time they are written to after midnight (so if no one access your server on a day, there will be no log for that day)
The above example makes the assumptiosn:
FMS apache is installed in /mnt/fms/Apache2.2 and you want to use its log dir
    cronolog installed in /mnt/apps/cronolog/

  • Dynamic live streaming on AMS 5 on AWS buffering and skipping

I'm having a lot of trouble getting Adobe Media Server 5 on Amazon Web Services working with live dynamic streaming, I've done a of this on Flash Media Server 4.5 and am trying to duplicate what I have done there on AMS since I got an email that FMS 4.5 will be dropped soon.
I have tried replicating my own setup from FMS 4.5 and I have also tried using the base install and following Adobe's tutorial. I get the same results in both events.
First, the HLS streaming appears to work fine. I've watch it on several iOS devices with no problem.
I use StrobeMediaPlayback for HDS streaming and that's where there are problems. The streams usually play fine at first and even transition well, then after a few minutes I start getting a lot of buffering and then video skipping. The longer it goes on, the more it buffers and the larger chucks of video get skipped. Sometimes I also get and error that says "TypeError: Error #1009"
I am using FMLE and both it and the server are set to use absolute time.
    Any help would be appreciated!!

    Hi,
    Welcome to Adobe forums.
May I know the FMS URL and the stream name you are using inside the FMLE and make sure you have full permissions on Adobe media server folder. And also check the streams folder inside the livepkgr folder and see if you are getting all the files created.
And would you mind if you can send me the logs folder at [email protected] so that I can analyse this issue at my end.
    Regards,
    Puspendra

  • FMS; multicast streaming from Digital Rapids

Has anyone had experience configuring multicast streaming from Digital Rapids encoders to an FMS 4.5 server? I can stream RTMP to the FMS server and access the video with an embedded Flash player easily enough, but I'm interested in setting up the FMS to allow clients to access a multicast stream. Most Adobe support documentation refers to Adobe Media Encoder Live for the multicast connection configs, not necessarily non-Adobe encoders, so I'm missing a step or two.
    Thanks,
    Hugh

Following is the link to setup multicast streaming:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/devguide/WS7812b00092aae0 dc-2829dcd012a54a3ed1a-8000.html
Instead of publishing from Flash Media Live Encoder, you can publish from DR Encoder by making an "rtmp" connection to the "multicast" app on the AMS server and then start publishing to that app from the encoder using the "Publish Stream Name" generated by Multicast Config Tool.

  • Users.conf in AMS 5

    Hi everyone,
I'm having issues logging in to the administration console in AMS 5 for Amazon Web Services. I've modified the ams.ini file adding the line "SERVER.ADMIN_PASSWORD = mypasswd" and in Users.xml file I've commented out the "Password" and used a previous configuration line found in FMS 4.0 versions:
<!-- Salted Password Hash for this vhost administrator. -->
    <!-- <Password>Salted hash of the Password goes here</Password> -->
    <Password encrypt="false">${SERVER.ADMIN_PASSWORD}</Password>
After restarting the admin service, i perform a ping test but i get the following error:
    <result><level>error</level><code>NetConnection.Connect.Rejected</code><description>Admin user requires valid username and password.</description><timestamp>Mon 27 Aug 2012 11:06:10 AM EDT</timestamp></result>
I've tried hardcoding the password, but with no luck. I've done some research on the salted has password, but I couldn't find any starting point.
If there's anyone out there who could help me on this, I will be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Martin

Looks like I had actually had to be in that directory, like you mentioned.
    This did not work:
    /opt/adobe/ams/amsadmin –console –user admin
    But what you said did!

Nothing on Master, the time was around the time it crashed, the problem is that it crashes when I have 100+ clients connected and crashes when I have 30 clients connects.
It`s like this. The server start with very low memory usage, around 30%, then, with the same number of clients it goes to 50 ~ 60%, then I have more clients (70 ~ 90) and the memory usage goes to 100%, and the memory usage never goes down, no matter what. Sometimes I have 100 clients and my memory usage is in 100%, then my clients disconect and I get 30 and my memory usage is still at 100%.
Seems like the server increases the memory usage and even on 100% tries to increase even more and crashes.
    Thanks

  • Future of FMS

We want to purchase FMS but are in dilema because of flash streaming protocol is being depreciated. My question is what will happend when new HTML5 protocol will become standard for Android, IE, Mozilla, etc  (like HLS is now for iOS)? Will we just upgrade the FMS? What if WebM format will become standard? So my question is about the future...If we implement our video infrastructure with your FMS, would we need to abandon it after a year or two or will Adobe apply future protocol streaming standards for HTML5?

Regarding the difference between FMS 4.5 and AMS 5 please see this excerpt from Product Manager's blog post
Adobe Media Server 5 extends the innovation around Protected HTTP Dynamic Streaming (“PHDS”) which allows you to not worry about protection, just enable the encryption and protection and let Adobe do the rest. This release introduces Protected HLS streaming (“PHLS”) which uses the protection system to deliver the content license to the native IOS app without requiring a license server! So now you can deliver HTTP content to both native apps running on Apple devices and Flash-enabled devices using the same powerful Adobe Access client but without the Adobe Access license server. This technology is perfect for live events, news, sports or concerts, or if you just want to protect your video content without a complicated setup. We have juiced up the server with a much higher performing dynamic packager and encryption system that supports on demand and live streaming over both HDS and HLS that will power some of the most impressive events in 2012 that will change the way we think of multi-screen video. We have also extended the server’s utilities for offline media packaging to include HLS segmenting and encryption so you can prepare all your content in advance.
Regd upgrade query, do you already have FMS 4.5 or were planning to buy one? AMS 5 is also available through Value Added reseller channel even now
