*.FMX 6.0 in 9iAS

Hi,
Can I use runnable *.fmx generated with Developer 6.0 in the Oracle9iAS middle-tier with Forms Services?
Initially those forms were produced for a client/server platform.

SUSE Linux 8.0 + 9iAS r2 = Success

Hi PPL, just reporting success and performance inscrease under Suse Linux 8.0:
I can say that Oracle 9iAS under Linux for me performs at least 25-30% faster than Windows. I've installed IAS and INFRA in only one machine:
Pentium 4 1.8Ghz
1 GB RAM
1 SCSI 15kRPM IB DISK
Adaptec Ultra 160 controller
2 GB SWAP
I use PORTAL, FORMS, REPORTS and WIRELESS... I've installed the BUNDLED INTER-OPERABILITY PATCH Version of 9iAS r2, so i did not had to apply that patch. I've just applied today one CORE patch that was released in September for Linux/Unix versions and yesterday for Windows versions (patch 2542920)
I've used SUSE 8.0, installed the Korn Shell package (KSH) and followed instruction on this VERY USEFULL whitepaper at htis site : www.stute.net !
Remember to change SHMMAX parameters for the kernel as explained in www.puschitz.com !
My last installation was made in 3 hours (SUSE installation included)
Other tricks was i had to execute: xhost + as root to let oracle set DISPLAY and runInstaller! The linking errors were easily solved as explained in www.stute.net whitepaper.
I've created a script to startup the INFRA database, but i couldnt start up automatically all services (OC4J's, HTTP, WEBCACHE), so i start them manually in OEM site http://mysite:1810
I'm not a Linux GURU, but now i feels satisfied with performance and with stability.
More... in Linux i can compile my FORMS files (FMX) even when they are used by someone user in a forms session.
And even better is that PATCHS for Linux/Solaris usually are on "street" 1 month before Windows versions.
Of course, I go crazy everytime i found bugs, but usually they are not plataform related.

I installed on SUSE Linux 8.0 the 9iAS R2, only the option A - J2EE and WebChache. Now I have following problems.
1. Some configuration tools (OC4J, OPMN, DCM)were not initialized in the end of the installation. I read other postings with the same problems, but i never read a solution of these problems.
2. After installation, i want to start the http server manually (dctml start -ct ohs) , but it doesn't work. I got the error message ADMN 100999, i dont know why !
If i want to start the http-server with enterprise manager (EM worked partically) I got an EMException.

Deploy forms applications on 9iAS

Hi,
I am very new to Oracle 9i and our DBA is on leave....
I have following setup
Oracle 9i database on Unix (Solaris 2.8)
Oracle 9i AS on Unix (Solaris 2.8)
Oracle 9i DS on Windows XP.
I have developed a small application using 9iDS and am able to deploy/test it on my windows development box.
However after reading the following a92175.pdf document I am still not sure how to deploy my application on 9iAS so users can access and use the application.
Please guide (I am working on a deadline).

Yes, my application is forms9i application.
Now the question is- which AS install do I need to use. I know there are 4 types and through forums I have understood you need to use BI install.
Also the 9iAS install that I see at our work-place does not have any folders named in the deployment guide. I have understood that I need to do a complete (re)install.
Assuming all goes well in the re-install:
application I developed and tested in 9iDS on windows has following structure...
z:\oracle\scripts\myproject\forms - holds fmb and fmx
z:\oracle\scripts\myproject\reports - holds jsp
z:\oracle\scripts\myproject\scripts.
My application calls reports from forms and I give the path to reports by SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY. How is this handled when I deploy the fmx files to AS
When I do deploy my application to 9iAS what structure would i need to build?
I understand that the dir I put my fmx files I place that dir path into FORMS90_PATH
Then if I am porting the fmb files, i need to make changes to places whee reports are called as our 9i As is on solaris 2.8. Right?

Could any body explain me the 9iAS architecture. I would like to know the following.
1. Where will web cache fit in ? This needs to be installed before HTTP server, does this needs to be installed in a separate machine or in HTTP server itself or will it be in a client machine
2. What is DB cache for. Does this cache the data or it is used to cache FMX.
3. How can i deploy my forms 6.0 application thru oracle 9iAS

Web Cache can be installed on the same machine as your HTTP server or on a dedicated node in front of your HTTP server(s). See the Web Cache Administration and Deployment Guide, available on OTN, for more info.
DB Cache caches read-only relational content on mid-tier servers.
There are whitepapers and faq's on OTN that address all of your questions regarding caching, forms, etc.

FRM-40010 - Cannot read form when using Call_form on Unix 9iAS

Hi,
I'm using 9iAS on a unix server. However, the main form calls several other forms using CALL_FORM('formnam'); but it cannot read any of the forms. I've ensured that they have all been compiled on the server. They compiled successfully.
I've also ensured that they are all residing in the FORMS60_PATH. Although it can find the main form OK, it cannot read any of the other forms. They are all located in the same directory.
What can be causing this error?

Make sure that formname is the name of the .fmx file and that you use the same case as it is in the file system, because UNIX is case-sensitive.
How are you setting FORMS60_PATH? If you're using the Forms Listener Servlet and are setting the FORMS60_PATH in default.env, be sure that the variable name is spelled correctly. In the early versions of default.env that came out, there was a typo: FORSM60_PATH. So if people didn't notice this and just uncommented the line and set the path, they would get FRM-40010.

Parameter to be able to override the FMX / MMX

Hello Everyone,
I know there is a parameter on the Application Server, that makes the files currently open by an application not to get locked so in an development environment I could recompile my change build the file (FMX / MMX) and the changes would take place.
Anyone knows how to do that?

Yes, that's part of the way to do it.
After uploading the binary file (.FMB) which is platform independent, you have to generate the (.FMX) in Linux, as the .FMX are platform specific.

Base on the documents which provide by oracle, it can automatic judge which kind of language is using through the Browers language setting.
But the remote user can see only transitional Chinese character set(even language is SIMPLIFIED CHINESE in the brower) . I have included SIMPLIFIED CHINESE language support on browser IE 5.5 for remote user but didnt work.
I have installed Oracle 9IAS.

Urgent..FMX applet

hi friends,
our HR system has been developed using oracle9i ,now a group of users has to be able to view these forms via internet..so :
1.now has we to develop all the systems again using applets..or there is a way to view the oracle forms via internet?
2.what is the relation between the converted FMX to Applet and the pure Applet?
3.what is the relation between this and Firewall and does Firewall make problem with this?
4.i need more clarification of what's said about that 9i FMX applets need Jinitiator while pure applet need JVM and both are not compatible?

Hi
1. You can configure 9iAS to deoply forms in web. For configuration, refer metalink Doc ID: Note:166640.1. There is lot of help documents in metalink for how to deploy web forms.
2. Pure applet may be little bit faster than converted fmx, but it will talk long time to develop pure applet.
3. Oracle web forms will work in Firewall.
5. If you configure the web forms using cgi implementation (I never tried other two implementations. Servlet and Cartridge Implementation) , the client automatically download JInitiator at the first time.

Config 9iAS Forms Server

Hi,
I am currently configurating 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on Windows 2000. The patch that comes with is patchset 5.
After install, I can test on the servlet and run the test.fmx correctly.
Then I changed the formsweb.cfg for my app and try to run in thru the browser. The login screen comes up and I type in the userid/passwd@connect_string. But I cannot connect to the database. I checked all d:\oracle\806\tnsname.ora and it is correct.
And I couldn't find error message in any of the 9iAS log files (like, jserv.log, access.log, error.log)
Can anybody give me a hit?

I don't get any error message, not even on the message bar(It just shows "Applet started.". I did not specify the domain name in sqlnet.ora nor tnsnames.ora
I notice that if i put a wrong connect string, it tried to locate the database but failed with no error message.
When I turn on the debug, it gives me the following in the jserv.log. Can you find a clue? Thanks.

Will forms demos for 9iDS work on 9iAS running on HP unix

Will forms 9i demos work on 9iAS on a Unix system?
I've just tried it on 9iDS on win NT.
How to configure the same?

Mahesh,
all you need to do is to configure the demos with your formsweb.cfg file and default.env file on Unix. Of course, before running the samples you will have to recompile the Forms fmx files. Because most of teh PJC and Java examples work on the client side I don't expect problems on this side. Make sure that you manually create teh database schema used by the demos (this is performed by the installler on Windows systems. Unfortunately the installer routine will not work on Unix systems).
You don't need to to create the forms90demo servlet mapping to run teh demos if you are okay of sharing your forms90 root mapping (default formsweb.cfg file) with the demos.

Urgent!! Splash screen problems when using 9iAS for forms

I'm having some difficulty getting rid of the "Oracle Developer" splash screen that comes up when running a form from 9iAS using jinitiator v1.1.8.10.

Error while running a report JSP in a war file from 9iAS server

I've a web application archive file (war) which i m deploying to the web using OEM. The war file consists of many JSPs. Among those JSPs i have one Report JSP, which i m calling from another JSP which is like a parameter form for the report JSP. When i call the report JSP, it gave me the following error,

The report tag in the report JSP is as follows,

The report server is up and running and so is the database. This report JSP was generated from the reports builder and the opened in JDeveloper environment,in the war file project. It was then compiled and a war file was created. Surprisingly this report JSP works fine when i run my webapplication from the embedded OC4J instance for JDeveloper, but when i try to run it from the 9iAS server i get the above mentioned error. The deployment of the war file to the server is successful and the other JSPs work fine, only the reports JSP is not working. Do i need to have some settings for running the reports JSP, please advise.

Can you please help me in deploying jdeveloper (9.0.3.1)war file to 9iAS release 1, when I try to run, none of the jsp's execute, I get java OutOf Memory error, I also think that there may be some version compatibility between jdev jdk and 9iAS jdk.

Error in the assistant of installation of Oracle 9ias 9.0.2 single sing-on

Install oracle 9ias 9.0.2.0, but when this in the assisting existing Oracle 9ias single singn-on the error that the host or port are not been worth appears. in the host sijita.uptc.edu.co places and in the port 7777. That it can be the error??? one doesn't also eat to pull up the Apache service because the following error appears:
