Fnding Files in Lightroom

Is there a way to search for lets say, about 10 files by filename in Lightroom? Bridge does this pretty well with command F. I can only find one at a time with Lightroom as best as I can tell. I am searching for 10 images in a directory with about 1200 images and want to color correct and export just those 10 to send to the lab. Maybe I can only do this with Camera Raw in Bridge?
Let me know if I am missing some key way to seach for a batch of files in Lightroom.
Thanks,
Scott

This is a big directory with a dance recital.  I have intitialy marked the files that are sellable in Lightroom and exported them to upload to the sales website with a watermark. The order was placed online with a photo sales tool that lets me know  the filename. I will get 20 to 25 orders like this where I know the filename. Text search would be good if you could search for more then one file at a time. I would like to search for all the files in the order and color correct, crop and then export the files to the lab. I just found that I can sort of do this with the Camera Raw interface adn will do that in the future until Lightroom gets some of the same search functionality (if ever?).
Thanks,
Scott

  • After latest Photoshop CC update, I can no longer edit a raw file in Lightroom 4 as a smart object

I updated PS this morning, since then I am no longer able to edit a file in LIghtroom 4 as a smart object in Photoshop CC. Photoshop will open, but after some time passes, Lightroom 4 gives an error that Photoshop cannot be launched. If I choose "edit in photoshop" from lightroom, instead of "edit as smart object", the file opens fine.

  • How to fix 'missing files' in Lightroom 4? [was: adobe lightroom 4]

    Hi,
I have the scenario whereby all the images, I assumed, on my hard drive were as I imported to my  catalogue.  but it now appears that all of my images, are showing as previews but some are showing as 'missing files'.  Attempts to reconnect are proving futile as the usual click on and find previous file location location point me to the 'c' drive with a request for the file name.  On doing this, the 'C' drive doesn't appear to the have file name I require.  Have I in-advertately scrubbed something?  I have a lot of images of my grandkids, some of which I can delete but there is one particular image of my premature born grandaughter in the hospital I really need to keep.
I can't do any saving, moving of files whilst these question marks are in place, can someone help as this software, is not as user friendly as I first assumed.  All I want is a simple walk thru explanation of saving images from a camera and sorting of existing HD files,(many from past shoots on different cameras), to enable me to sort into some kind of format.
Would it be a good idea to completely scrub all of my images from the 'C' hard drive, (I have a backup on my external deskstop drive), and start afresh?
I have a external drive connected to my laptop and all those images are showing ok with no missing file links.   It's only the laptop internal drive that is showing the problem.
any help would be a bonus as the online youtbe video instructions don't answer my problem.

    Thanks Jim for your response,
    I will upgrade to 5.3

  • Lightroom - how to restore backed up files (not Lightroom catalogue) from one external drive to another?

How to restore backed up files (not lightroom catalogue) from one external drive to another.
I recently backuped my photo files from one external drive to another. The backup (carbon copy cloner) pointed to some corrupt files on the original drive.
I have deleted those files and am finding good copies of them  in Time Machine backups.
I want to get rid of the original external drive; use the recent backup as my main external and then back it up onto a brand new drive.
What I am not sure about is how to point lightroom to the backups so it knows to look on the new drive instead of the old drive and all those exclamation marks and question marks go away.
There are close to 60,000 images in numerous folders all with one 'parent folder.'
My best guess is from Lightroom Help - Create and Manage Folders -  Locate Missing Folders
Can I point to the one parent folder and all the subfolders will come back?
Is this the process to recover files into lightroom and will there be a problem with so many photos?

Idea was to store date in one place. I have subscribed to photographer option

Do you mean you are trying to sync files from Creative Cloud to mobile and it doesn't work? I don't know much about Lightroom. It's better to ask your question at Photoshop Lightroom.

  • Why files in Lightroom mobile and files in the creative cloud not the same? idea-  one place(stored date) for all application ??????

Why files in Lightroom mobile and files in the creative cloud not the same? idea- one place(stored date) for all application ??????

Lightroom Mobile is not a cloud storage service. You shouldn't treat it as a way of backing up your files. You are merely storing Smart Previews of your files in the cloud space, high-quality JPEGs of your files regardless of their original format on your desktop. The point is that they are there so you can continue editing them in a Lightroom-like environment even while away from your desktop/laptop computer. The files in Lightroom Mobile can only be used in Lightroom Mobile.
This is very different from what is offered by the Creative Cloud storage, which can be used to synchronize your files between any device (that can support the individual files).
The vast difference in how each service works and its intended use is why they are separate.

Open Pictures folder and move the files named lrcat-journal and lrcat.lock to Desktop.
Make sure that , they are not inside Pictures folder any more and try to open backup from Lighrtroom and check..
Any LRcat file with .lock extension , move it to Desktop.

  • Problems downloading RAW files into Lightroom 4 from a 70D camera.

I had a canon rebel xsi and had been able to download my RAW files to lightroom 4.  However, I have recently bought a 70D and is won't download into Lightroom 4.  I have been told that Lightroom 4 doesn't support the 70D and I have to upgrade to Lightroom 5.  Is this correct, or can I get some kind of plug in?  Also if Lightroom 5 how much would it be for me to upgrade, is an "upgrade" cheaper to someone who has already got Lightroom 4.

Once you buy LR 5 you can install any of the LR 5.x versions where LR 5.7 just came out and supports the newest cameras, like the Nikon D750 or Canon 7D Mark II along with all earlier models.
It would be wise to download and install the LR 5.7 as a trial and make sure it works for you before buying the upgrade.  The minimum OS is 10.7 and Win 7, I think, so if you’re on XP or Vista or OS X 10.6 then you’re out of luck.
The various version of LR are available on the Adobe Updates site:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
They will run in trial mode for 30 days or until you enter appropriate serial numbers.

  • How to open NRW-files in Lightroom 4?I

just bought Nikon's Coolpix P7800. It says you can shoot in Raw. Now I want to open these files in LR, just like I'm used to with my SLR's. But Nikon uses the NRW-format for Raw and LR says it doesn't recognise the files. Does someone know if there's a way to convert and work with these files in LR 4?

    Thanks Jim for your response,

  • Can photoshop CC open raw files from Lightroom 5?

Trying to open raw files from Lightroom 5 in Photoshop CC 2014, with no luck.
    Anyone?

Problems are as follows— all versions are current.
    1. When in Lightroom, trying to open a photo in Photoshop,-- choosing Photo>Edit in Photoshop CC 2014— Photoshop opens but no photo appears. The only time a photo opens is if it is a JPEG… CR2 does not open, dng does not open
    2. When trying to open a JPEG in Photoshop, dialog box opens offering choice between "Edit Original", "Edit a copy", or "Edit with Lightroom adjustments", Only choosing “Edit Original” allows photo to open.
    3. When in Photoshop choosing “Browse in Bridge” does not open Bridge… opens CC app and prompts me to install another version of Bridge, or keep version I have.  (See attached screenshot) Either way it’s a malfunction… as I said earlier all versions are leanest.
    PLEASE HELP!!
    Steve

  • Raw Files in Lightroom...

I just imported RAW files into Lightroom and want to use the Develop tool. However, when I change modules to "Develop" It does not allow me to see the changes as I work. Only when I go back to the Library module can I see them. I need to see real time changes to edit. Please help

That certainly sounds like a problem. And it definitely isn't the way it's supposed to work.
What version of LR are you using?
    PC or Mac?
    What operating system?
Does the problem happen no matter which develop controls you change?
Does going to 1:1 and back show the changes?
You might want to try trashing your Preferences file.

  • How do i open a raw file in lightroom

how do I open a raw file in lightroom?

Yes, those are good links, but let's clean up the terminology too so we're all talking the same language.
There is no "open" in Lightroom when referring to photos.
You can "import" photos into Lightroom ... this means that now Lightroom has registered the photo's location and other pertinent information into its database, but it does not store the photo itself in the Lightroom database (or anywhere else in Lightroom), so Lightroom never contains your photos; the photo continues to be stored on one of your hard drives, wherever you want it to be, and the file is visible in your operating system.
Once you have imported the photos, then Lightroom can perform tasks on the photos, such as Develop, Print, e-mail or upload, etc. and once you have imported photos into Lightroom, you should not move or rename or delete them outside of Lightroom.

  • Issue Exporting TIFF Files in Lightroom 3

When exporting files from Lightroom in a TIFF Format Lightroom is applying specific dimensions to my photos. How do I make this stop so my files maintain the original image size?
    For example.
    Original Photo - 4256 x 2832, 10.8MB .NEF File shot on D700
Exported using TIFF Format, No Compression, Pro Photo RGB Colour Space and 16 bit depth. No changes to any part of the original file.
    New exported file - 640 x 426, 1.6MB .TIF File
Normally I would expect a 16bit TIF export to become a larger file (more MB) yet maintain the original 4256 x 2832 image size.
This issue is happening for all my images. How can I solve this?

What have you got selected in this box?

  • When importing from my camera or file in Lightroom 5 my pictures are over-exposed by 1-2 stops, while they are well exposed on the camera-screen. How to get the 'right-exposed pictures on the screen?

When importing from my camera or file in Lightroom 5 my pictures are over-exposed by 1-2 stops, while they are well exposed on the camera-screen. How to get the 'right-exposed pictures on the screen?

There is an option in your Lightroom preferences on the General tab, "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate images". If you have that option checked then Lightroom will import and display both your raw and JPEG files. Are you using active D-lighting on your camera? If you are then you need to turn off that feature.

  • Can i open and edit nikon d810 raw files in lightroom 4.4

can i open and edit nikon d810 raw files in lightroom 4.4

No. Lightroom 4.x will never be able to open Raw files from the D810.
D810 support has only just been added to the RC version of Camera Raw 8.6. It is never retrospectively added into older versions.
Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 8.6 RC for CC and CC 2014 Release Candidate | digital camera raw file support - Adobe Labs
Adobe will probably add D810 support to the next version of Lightroom.
Either way you'll have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 to be able to open D810 Raw files in Lightroom.
