FNDLOAD: Migrating Item Templates between instances

Hi All,
Can we migrate Item templates from one instance to another using FNDLOAD. If so can you please provide me an example or useful source.
Thanks a lot.

I do not believe you can use FNDLOAD. iSetup has the functionality to migrate item templates. See the iSetup User Guide at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B40089_10/current/acrobat/120azug.pdf

• Migrating database views between instances

I've discoverer folders based out of database views?(around 30-40) and i'm planning to migrate all the VIEW's from one instance to another
I'm currently executing 1 by 1 and since, these views are growing in number with the requirements i was wondering if there a easy way/tool to achieve this.

Hi
In addition to the advice already given, are you also changing the owner for the views? If you are then you will need to update Discoverer to tell it who now owns them.
Should you move a view from one schema to another, use this workflow to update Discoverer.
1. Launch Discoverer Admin.
2. Open the business area containing a view that had its owner changed.
3. Right-click on the folder and from the pop-up select Properties.
4. Click on Owner and from the list of users, select the new owner
5. Click OK to return to the Folder Properties dialog box.
6. Click OK to close the Folder Properties dialog box.
7. Right-click on the folder again; and from the pop-up list select Refresh.
8. As you only have one option, click Finish.
9. Discoverer will now compare the data definitions for the object and hopefully you will have no differences.
If you do have differences this means there is something different in the new view and you will have to determine what that is and then fix it.
Does this help?

• Help require to migrate Report Manager(FSG)Excel Templates across Instances

In R12.1.3, we are creating new custom MS Excel templates for Standard FSG Reports.
We understand to create these templates with Report Manager using “Financial Report Template Editor”, edit them, download and upload back.
These templates created in Test Instance needs to be moved to multiple instances.
How can we migrate these custom Excel templates from one instance to another? , as when we select Oracle-->Upload from Excel template, it expects to upload back to the same instance where from it was downloaded originally, but our requirement is to migrate these templates across instances rather than to recreate it on each instance
Please suggest how to migrate these Excel templates from one instance to another.
Thanks,
Amit

hi,
sorry, but currently there is no such option, the templates need to be rebuilt.
Enhancement Request
Bug 6710387 'COPY REPORT TEMPLATES FROM ONE INSTANCE TO AN OTHER'
was raised on the issue but it was not implemented yet.
Please monitor this enhancement on 'My Oracle Support' to get news on its implementation.

• HRMS Payroll: Migrating Element Links between Environments/Instances

Hi,
I need to migrate element links between environments i.e, I need to move my element links from one instance to another.
Apart from doing this manually or using dataloader, what are the other options/best practices that I can look at?
Regards,
Santhosh Jose

We've previously done this successfully using Data Pump to process the migration of Element Types, Input Values, Extra Info and Links - once set up it works very smoothly, but it does require quite a bit of setup so I'd only advise using if you're migrating a lot of elements several times.
Data Pump is just a set of tables and concurrent programs that wrap around Oracle API's for migration of data/setup.
The setup involves getting data into these tables...
Key tables are:
hr_pump_batch_lines
hr_pump_batch_headers
hr_pump_batch_line_user_keys
Using API's like:
hrdpp_create_element_type.insert_batch_lines
hrdpp_create_element_extra_inf.insert_batch_lines
hrdpp_create_element_link.insert_batch_lines
hrdpp_create_input_value.insert_batch_lines
hrdpp_update_input_value.insert_batch_lines
Conc Program: Data Pump Engine
There should be plenty of documentation around the net and MoS about this if you want to have a read.
Alternatively you can call the API's yourself.
or, you can have a go with iSetup - we tested this briefly but didn't get too far with it, several quirky issues with loading Work Structure data so went back to using Data Pump.

• Best Practice to migrate existing Message/Central Instance to new hardware?

I've done some searching for this, but it all seems to be fairly old (I found one decent thread from 2008, but it just seemed outdated). I would like to get some updated info & suggestions on a process to follow for this task.
Here is some info about the current config:
I have an existing SAP ERP 6.0 EHP5 system. SID "XYZ"
Everything is currently running on Windows x64.
ABAP only config.
It is currently setup as a distributed system.
DB server is SQL, which is running on its own hardware as a dedicated DB server. I don't need to touch this.
Uses logon groups to distribute the load between 3 App servers.
One of the App Servers is setup as the Message/CI server. This is what I am wanting to move to VM hardware.
The other two App Servers are setup just as Dialog Instances. VM already. I don't need to touch these.
What I am wanting to do:
I am wanting to migrate the existing Message/CI server to VM hardware to get the current Message/CI system off of very old hardware.
I need to keep the system with the same name & IP.
I do not need/want to mess with the DB server at all.
Need to minimize downtime as much as possible.
I do NOT want to go to an HA environment. That is a different project for the future.
Suggestions? I would like to hear what some of you have done.
Minimize downtime? I have a short maintenance window of a few hours coming up in the next few months, and would like to do this changeover during that downtime.
How do I handle setting this up on the new hardware using the same name & IP, especially with the existing system still running.
What I think I need to do: (Some of these may be out of order, which is why I'm asking for suggestions)
Setup new Windows VM server, named differently than current Message/CI server (Done already).
Run SAPINST to run Global Host Preparation on the new Windows VM server.
Run SAPINST to setup ASCS Instance on the new Windows VM server.
Skip the Database Instance installation, since I already have one running.
Run SAPINST to setup Central Instance on the new Windows VM server.
Copy all of the appropriate profile parameters that were on the old server.
Start SAP and make sure everything is running and working correctly.
Copy all job, spool files, etc. from the old server.
What needs to be done in between those steps for the server rename & IP changes?
Which of these steps can I do in advance of my maintenance downtime window, without it affecting the currently running system?
I have a test environment that I am going to test this with. I'm just trying to get a jump start on my instructions, so that I can hopefully do this quickly and easily. I'm very comfortable doing the installs. Just needing some guidance on how to handle this case.
I'm open to suggestions, and any links you can send my way that show some more recent success at doing this. Everything I keep finding talks about doing the migration for the DB. I am not migrating my DB. It is staying where it is. I'm just wanting to migrate my Message/Central Instance to a VM, without affecting the users, and hopefully them never noticing the changes.
Thanks!

If you're using VMWare, there is a tool provided to virtualize existing systems. Basically it makes a copy of the old system (while it is down) and recreates it as a VM with the same name, IP, etc. I haven't double-checked to see if this process is 'officially' supported by SAP, and I don't know the technical details about how it's done or how long it will take (VMWare is managed by the Network Operations group in my team, so as the SAP sysadmin I'm basically a customer of theirs). However, we have virtualized a few smaller systems that needed to get off failing hardware in a hurry and it worked very well, so I would expect it would for an SAP dialog instance as well. As you're not copying a database, just the app server, it probably would fit within your maintenance window.
If this route works for you, then there is no need to actually install the SAP system on the VM instance... you just copy the old server as-is, then make any adjustments required due to no longer needing old drivers, etc, plus potentially having different memory parameters.

• Managed property value is not returned in item template for ArticleStartDateOWSDATE

Environment: SharePoint 2013 online
Related parts: Search Result web part (OOB), Display template for search result items
Base type: article page
I have a search result page, it has a search result web part on it, for the display template, it is using a default for list, using "single template to display items" option to point to a custom item template.
The search returns list of articles, just title and abstract, it works fine.
We need to add "Article Date" to be displayed. "Article Date" is a OOB site column under "Publishing Columns".
I found its field name is ArticleStartDate, then from search schema, I found the corresponding managed property name is "ArticleStartDateOWSDATE", the mapped crawled property is "ows_q_DATE_ArticleStartDate".
In order to display it, I added managed property mapping to the item template to map to ArticleStartDateOWSDATE.
The code is like,
<mso:ManagedPropertyMapping msdt:dt="string">'Title':'Title',','MyArticleStartDate':'ArticleStartDateOWSDATE'</mso:ManagedPropertyMapping>
var ArticleDate = $getItemValue(ctx, "MyArticleStartDate");
The value of variable (ArticleDate) is empty when try to display it.
Please let me know if you re-create this issue or have a solution to display the value.
BTW, on "Content search" web part, I can map ArticleStartDateOWSDATE to "Line 3", and display its value. So I know the managed property itself should be fine.
Thanks in advance,
John

I think your input value is wrong,, when I did HTML decode of your Managed properties :
'Title':'Title',','MyArticleStartDate':'ArticleStartDateOWSDATE'
It gives :
'Title':'Title',','MyArticleStartDate':'ArticleStartDateOWSDATE'
i.e. wrong, if you see there is extra comma in between.
try giving :
'Title':'Title','MyArticleStartDate':'ArticleStartDateOWSDATE'
or directly 'Title':'Title','MyArticleStartDate':'ArticleStartDateOWSDATE'

• Migration of orginals between two KPro storage systems

Hi Friends
I have created a document and checked in the originals into Storage category - SAP-SYSTEM (DMS_C1_ST-Default storage DMS (main files)).I have checked "Use KPro" configuration in "Define document type". Now, I need to migrate this originals into a fileshare system, which i have created as a new storage category(ZNEWDMS).How can I go about?
I know there is program DMS_KPRO_CONVERT available. But this program migrates documents from DMS storage(Vault, Server, Archive) to KPro storage. My requirement is to migrate the originals between two KPro storages ie From DMS_C1_ST to ZNEWDMS.
Could anybody help me on this?
Regards
S.Sivakumar

Hi,
I noticed this thread is a bit old, but I thought I would ask anyways.
I have the following situation:
Multiple SAP Instances, each with their own KPRO. A consolidation project to move towards a single SAP Instance. The multiple KPRO's stay as is.
I am assuming the easiest wat to go about this is to ALE all the metadata of the various SAP instances to the new instance. Would the KPRO links remain intact?
As part of the consolidation, Objects like materials and equipments have changed, e.g. Material 100 has changed to Material E100. For this I would assume a Bapi to update all the DIR's with the new Objects? This I am hoping would sever the old Object Link and create the new one?
Any suggestions please.
Thanks.
Freddie.

• Migrating folders to various instances

Hi,
I have around 9-10 folders added to Disco Admin in my development database. There are already various business areas and folders within it. I have created joins for these 9-10 newly added folders to the existing folders.
Now when I want to migrate this to other instances, do I have to follow the same exercise? Is there a work around to avoid all this? Since all this is stored in a metadata, can we insert some rows into EUL tables and achieve this?
Thanks.

Hi
The version that you are using has the extended Export that I refer to. From within the Admin edition, select File | Export.
When the wizard launches, pick selected item from the database. You can now pick the new folders that you want to migrate. This migration is done to a file, the file extension will be eex.
After you have exported the folders, you need to reconnect to Admin in the new EUL and then run File | Import. You can now pick the file to import and Discoverer will now offer you some options as to what it should do should it find duplicates, and whether to match on Names or Identifiers. If you have been careful with your names all will be well.
Hope this helps
Regards
Michael

• How to apply revised item template back to all those items affected by the template

Inventory has Item Templates thru which item attributes can be set for similar items with similar attributes.
If for some reason we need to make a modification to the Item template and want to re-apply this template to all those items to which it was applied earlier, how do we do it
in Rel 10.7SC.
Manual process of identifying those items and applying template individually would be a lengthy process.
Is there an alternative ?

So, what the camera writes, the Exif metadata, is inside the photo file, or in another hidden file for each photo?
It’s “inside” the file.
How come then it happens that sometimes the date changes after you've written the pictures on a CD, and imported them from that later... shouldn't the metadata stay with the file? It happens mostly with early camera phone pictures...
A photo can lose the metadata in imperfect copies, or - in the case of early camera phones - there may have been none at all. In which case iPhoto uses the File “Date Created” instead.
I have a lot of pictures whose dates I really had to change because they were wrong - I just hope this work won't go down the drain further down the road... perhaps when importing into a new Mac, or when using a different program altogether...?
In the case of moving to a new Mac:
Simply move the Library to the new machine. That will get all the data, metadata, originals, edited versions and so on.
In using a different application:
1. If it understands the iPhoto Library (like Aperture, for instance) then you will have no issue
2. If it doesn’t, then you export the Pics from iPhoto (File -> Export) and check the box at Title and Keywords. This will mean that your Titles, Keywords +and Descriptions+ (though not explicitly mentioned) will be written to the IPTC data.

• Item Templates VS2013

Hi all,
I have worked with simple item templates and I have also used IWizard to collect data at the point of adding the file and replace text in the file.
However when adding one of my Item Templates I would like to not only collect and replace strings in that file but also create and add a completely different file.
Is this possible, if so can someone point me in the right direction?
Many thanks

• Adobe Flash IDE: Migration/Compatibility issues between Adobe Flash Professional CS3 and CS5

Hi,
Adobe Flash IDE: Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5
I am facing some migration/compatibility issues between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5:
I am working on a project that has been completely developed in CS3 earlier. When I am using CS5 (Flash Player 9 / Flash Player 10) to compile the FLA files, it is creating some new issues like some customized radio buttons are getting disappeared while viewing the SWF on a web page etc.
So, I would like to know:
1) Is there any migration/compatibility issue between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5?
2) If yes: Is there any patch available from Adobe for it?
3) If no: What could be the causes and the best possible solutions for it?
Any help and support would be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

• Can I use vCloud Connector Basic to copy vSphere template between datacenters?

A client has 4 datacenters around the world. They use one a couple of vCenter servers in Linked Mode. vSphere/vCenter only, no vCloud.
If they create a VM template at HQ, could they use vCloud Connector Basic to copy the template between DC in different locations?
If so, would this offer anything more than cloning the template to another DC using vCenter?
Thanks,
-MattG

Hi Matt,
You can use vCloud Connector for vSphere environment to copy templates / vms across datacenters that are geographically separated.

• Comparision Report between instances

Pls help on how to generate comparision report between instances. We are on 11.5.10 and i have observed that comparision report takes input which is the extract from the same instance. In 11.5.10, is it possible to compare setup data of source and target instances.
Thanks,
Shilpa

Hi Shilpa,
No, not at all. It does not matter where the extract had come from. Primary/Secondary Data Source LOV would show all the extracts irrespective of the instance.
I hope that you question is all about when you do not have mapping between source and target instances, how do I compare setups? Yes, it is possible.
Download the Extract from target instance and upload it to source instance. Now, you can find the extract in the Primary/Secondary Data Source LOV.
