Focus issues in Mac OS X Lion

In my air application we are getting lot many issues related to focus in Mac OS X Lion. In other operating system we dont have any issues of Focus. Any solution?

Thanks for the additional info. Your setup is different to this thread and more like the other scenario that you posted in, so the steps above don't quite apply.
But fear not, I can give you what you need to know.
The first thing is that the method you used to add the printer previously, ie select to Add via Print & Scan and select Windows, was the correct method for connecting to Windows shared printers. What would have been stopping you from printing was Windows. The authentication pop-up you saw was a request from Windows asking for user credentials to permit the printing. At this stage, if you entered your Windows user name and password the printing should have completed. Note that if you don't have a password set for the Windows account then this can cause errors with shared printing. So I suggest you do set a password for Windows (you should do this by default if this computer connects to the Internet) and this can help with getting the printing to work.
If you were entering the correct details then the second thing is that there are known issues with using Mac drivers when printing via Windows shares. Many vendors do not make printer drivers that work with this type of connection and when you do you can get these authentication messages. So if you were entering the correct Windows user name and password then it could have been the driver rather than Windows causing this pop-up to appear. In this case you need to look at using an alternate driver suite, such as that offered by Gutenprint, although without checking I don't know if your model of Epson is supported. Anyway, the web site will show you if it is.
If Gutenprint does not list your RX500 as a supported printer then there is a way that you can use the original Epson driver and that involves enabling Unix Print Services on the Vista PC. There is a bit to this so I recommend you try to get the above procedure working before you look at this alternative.

  • Adobe WebForms issue running MAC OS X Lion

    I require the Adobe PDF plug-in to function in order to use web forms that I need for work. Since I run MAC OS X Lion and have Safari 5.1, I cannot run my Adobe web forms. Any thoughts on a fix?

    Well still no solution. It's unfortunate that a company as innovative as APPLE always seems to fall short in the most basic areas. Never will understand it.
    At this point I've given up. I got a copy of virtual box and Windows 7 for the one task I use every day, which worked in Safari 5.0.6.
    Thanks all for the help. If anyone comes across this and has other suggestions I'm open to trying anything. As frustrated as I am with Apple and the Mac it's still my OS of choice.

  • Java Dialog focus issue with Mac OS X 10.4 (Mac OS X 10.3 is fine)

    Hi,
    I am trying this sample applet on 2 different Mac OS X's
    1) Mac OS X 10.3.9
    Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6)
    JVM - 1.4.2_09
    Here whenever the Browser, running the Applet comes on Top, the
    Dialog also comes on Top i.e. if the dialog is hidden behind some window
    & I click on the browser running the applet, the Dialog(showing "Hello",
    "OK")
    also becomes uncovered/visible.
    2) Mac OS X 10.4.5
    Safari 2.0.3 (v417.8)
    JVM - 1.4.2_09
    Here clicking on the Browser doesn't make the Dialog Visible.
    As per the Java Docs, I think the Behaviour on OS X 10.3.9 is the
    correct behaviour.
    Is there a way to have that behaviour on OS X 10.4 - any workarounds,
    anything I can do so that the dialog doesn't get hidden.
    I cannot make the dialog modal.
    Given below is the Applet source.
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.applet.Applet;
    public class MyTest extends Applet implements ActionListener {
    private Button b;
    private Dialog myDialog;
    public void init() {
    b = new Button("Press me");
    b.addActionListener(this);
    add(b);
    show();
    private Frame findFrame(Component c) {
    for (; c != null; c = c.getParent()) {
    if (c instanceof Frame) return (Frame) c;
    return null;
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    if ( e.getSource() == b ) {
    showDlg();
    public void showDlg()
    if(myDialog == null) {
    // Set The Applet as owner
    Frame f = findFrame(this);
    if(f != null) {
    System.out.println("Found Frame");
    myDialog = new Dialog(f, false);
    myDialog.add(new Label("Hello ") , BorderLayout.NORTH);
    myDialog.add(new Button("OK"), BorderLayout.SOUTH);
    myDialog.pack();
    myDialog.show();

    It is not that the service will not work, but their bundled software will not - not that you need it anyway.

  • Imovie download issues on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5

    Hello, I am doing a project for an organization and they want me to create some videos via Imovie. However whenever I go to the download button on the mac store, It says that I'm unable to download imovie, because the computer's software is not updated. I know the simple answer would be to update it, but the company doesn't want to at the moment and I was just wondering if there's a way to download an earlier version of imovie that would be compatible with this version. Thank you

  • Does CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?

    I have installed the Adobe CS3 Design Premium (from original package discs) on my iMac but although I am able to open Photoshop, the other applications won't open and instead return "the application has unexpectedly quit" notification. I was able to use this suite (and all applications) with no problem in my old mac laptop a few years ago. Does anyone know whether this is a compatibility issue with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 and Adobe offers a solution? Thanks.

    Cgguyen in the window which you typed into to start your discussion you can perform a search.  By default it searches that particular forum.  You can remove the criteria to search all Adobe forums.  You can then see the discussions which are answered or not to help you determine the best discussion to meet your needs.  This is different than using a search engine such as Google or Bing.  You can find an example in the Photoshop General Discussion forum at Photoshop General Discussion.
    I am recommending the forums for the specific application since that is the best place to seek assistance if you are facing a non-installation issue.  The community in each of those forums are going to be more familiar with how the application performs under recent operating systems.

  • Sluggish Flash Builder 4.5.1 performance on Mac OS X Lion

    I recently acquired an iMac with Core i7 3.4GHz CPU, 8GB of RAM.  The system is brand new with nothing but Flash Builder installed.  I have similar setup on Windows which is running on an 3-yo laptop sporting Win7 x64, 1.6GHz low voltage Core 2 Duo CPU and 8GB of RAM.  Since the laptop is my primary computer, so it is constantly running other apps such as Outlook, Doc, etc.
    My project consists of 3 library projects and two application projects on Mac.  I have set the IDE to turn off automatic build as building the application takes more than a few seconds.  To my surprise, I notice any changes made to the application or library, Mac OS X takes significantly longer time to compile the application.
    I wonder if this is a known issue on Mac OS X Lion, or if there is anyway to improve Flex compiler performance on Mac.
    Tangent

    Yes, I have EXACTLY the same problem - except that my project is much larger and FB on Lion never gets to finish!
    Going back to Snow Leopard would be a big bind - anyone in adobe care to shed some light on this?

  • Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?

    I have installed the Adobe CS3 Design Premium (from original package discs) on my iMac but I am unable to open the applications (with an exception of PS) and get "the application has unexpectedly quit" notification. I was able to use all applications with no problem in my old mac laptop a few years ago. Does anyone know whether this is a compatibility issue with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 and if Adobe offers any solutions? The Customer Service says this is a technical issue (so they cannot help) and suggests that I seek help here but I had no luck so far. I already confirmed on another forum that this is not an installation issue and was suggested to seek help in program-specific forums. Thanks!

    You won't get any kind of official statement that CS3 works on Lion, but Rick says he has it running, so there is potential. The problem you face is there was no testing or program modification for CS3 in order to run on Lion, so you're on your own (with any help you might find here from someone who is successfully doing what you want to do). Your problems are most likely due to some other software you also have installed.
    As to why Windows has better OS backward compatibility than Mac, that's a difference in corporate philosophy -- Microsoft has a larger enterprise-scale customer base and they want programs to continue to run, and they're more likely to vote with their wallets.

    cgguven,
    I believe the compatibility is the responsibility of the upgrading party, and it can only be backwards; obviously, it depends on the fundamental (backwards) compatibility ensured by the other party.
    On the part of Adobe, it may be noted that all versions from at least AI8 (three versions before CS, from 1998) and right up to CS6 (from 2012) are compatible with the same rather old Windows version XP from 2001.
    And on the part of Microsoft, it may be noted that all versions from XP to the current 8.1 (from 2001 till present) are still compatible with the rather old AI8 from 1998 (and maybe even further back).

  • What will I lose if I do not backup my mac before installing mac os x lion?

    I am thinking about going ahead and downloading Mac OS X Lion without purchasing an external hard drive to do a time machine backup, is this a bad idea? or can I get away with it and download mac os x lion without any problems? I heard that you might lose things like photobooth pictures, iphoto pictures, imovie projects, internet browser bookmarks,etc...is this true?

  • Mac OS X Lion and Java7 + JavaFX2.1 performance issues

    Currently I'm using the JavaFX 2.1 GA Build with Mac OS X Lion (10.7.3) on my MacBook Pro (2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, ATI Radeon X1600 256 MB) an run into some performance and ui problems. The overall rendering framerate is arround ~30fps (which is normally 60fps on my desktop computer) and if I try to resize the main window the window starts to flicker and I get the following exception:

    2.1 system requirements =>
    http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/system_requirements_2-1/jfxpub-system_requirements_2-1.htm
    For JavaFX applications to take advantage of the new hardware acceleration pipeline provided by JavaFX, your system must feature one of a wide range of GPUs currently available in the market. Table 1 lists the graphics cards that have been tested with JavaFX. If your system does not support hardware acceleration, then JavaFX uses the Java2D software pipeline.
    For Mac OS X, the following standard Apple hardware graphics chips provide the required support:
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor with 288MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory
    - AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR5 memoryYour graphics card is not on that list, so JavaFX is falling back to a software pipeline, which does not work that well for you. You may not be able to resolve some performance issues when using a software pipline. You can log an issue at http://javafx-jira.kenai.com to request the NullPointerException be fixed - as that should not occur in any case and is a bug.

  • Mac OS X Lion Issues

    I have recently bought and installed Mac OS X Lion on to my iMac, the issues I have been having is mainly to do with speed, my mac does not seem as quick as it used to be with Snow Leopard. This mainly happens when opening mission control to switch to other windows and apps, and then especially when opening launchpad. Another issue is when I go onto an application like Skype it seems to really lag when making a video call, although this issue had never happened in Snow Leopard. I have tried repairing permissions in Disk Utility, updating all of my apps and freeing up some hard disk space, yet nothing has really seemed to help with these issues.
    The specs of my iMac is:
    2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128 MB
    20 Inch Monitor
    250 GB HDD
    This is also the early 2008 model of the iMac.
    Any help with getting my mac running at normal speeds would be great!
    Thanks!

    I have a MacPro (2007), a MacBook Air (2010), an iPad2, and two iPhones. All have been updated to the current versions of their respective OS's. Everything is working very well. I could not be happier. iCloud is much improved over MobileMe as just one example.
    Maybe its the 6 gigs of ram in the MacPro or the 4 gigs of ram in the MacBook Air. Maybe all you guys are short on memory.
    Thanks Apple!

  • Safari 5.1 issues, on Mac OS X v10.7 Lion

    Okay well everytime I'm on a website that has MEEBO IM chatting, the page never finishes loading.. The loading sign up at the tab keeps showing that it's loading, and on the page itself, it says the URL of the site.. and How much it has completed loading.. I never had this problem on snow leopard. Also, I'm noticing that Safari feels a bit sluggish.. I feel like if it's slower than Snow Leopard... Safari also freezes up on me a lot now, and on snow leopard it didn't.. I usually have to Force quit or something..
    I also reset safari daily, and I also disabled all the new MAC OS X Lion Gestures because I notice they make my computer run even more sluggish..
    For examlpe the gestures aren't fun to use while on youtube or something..
    Well I want to know if anyone else is having this problem, and how can I fix it.
    Thankyou

    Erik911 - I do have a lot of Safari performance issues as well.
    I wrote about it here:

  • Mac OS X Lion WiFi issues

    Ever since I have upgraded my late 2009-iMac to Mac OS X Lion 10.7 I have been experiencing issues regarding my WiFi. I'm actually loosing connectivity, as in AirPort seems to keep "refreshing itself" for no apparent reason, and disconnecting my WiFi intermittently each time. It's almost like my WiFi card can't keep a stable connection to my router anymore. This problem is not occuring on my iPhone, which is also connected to the same home network on the N Router. It's constantly halting downloads halfway through, or near to the end, and they have to be restarted and this is infuriating when the download has taken ages!
    Even reaching this page now took several refreshes, as Safari keeps coming up with blank pages every now and then telling me I am not connected to the internet.
    Has anybody else had problems with Lion dropping WiFi connection constantly?

    Hi Guys,
    My issue more serious than dropping connections. I CANNOT CONNECT!! I keep getting connection timeout from our all office access points. But anywhere else , i can connect decently.
    I joined this company for 6 months now and had no problem whatso ever until 1 day after updating to lion. I HAVE NO IDEA , is it software or hardware!! In boot camp also my wireless is not connecting to routers...I cannot believe it is hardware issue because i can connec to all other networks.
    Changing the wireless router config is IMPOSSIBLE. it take me 10 days to get appointment to see the IT guys and they are not going to change anyting on router. I end up buying a wireless usb adapter. It is ******* me off. Any help?
