Folder Access?

I recently updated to Windows Vista, and my iPod and iTunes were working fine, then all of a sudden when I tried to sync my 8GB Nano, I get the error message "Attempting to copy to the disc "BRAD's iPOD" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. iTunes could not save your Music Folder because you do not have write access. Check the permissions on your music folder and folders in your Music Folder, then try copying again." I didn't really know what that was talking about, but I looked around in Properties of my Music folder and didn't find anything weird. Any idea what the **** is going on?

itunes is 100% ready for vista yet.

First time network folder access is very very slow...

Hi,
On my new Windows 8 box (T500 laptop) I have this annoying problem that first time network folder access is very slow, it can take 30-40 seconds from you click the drive and until it opens. This happens everytime after my laptop has been sleeping and such.
I can even be connected via MSTSC to that same server - but still explorer first time access is painfully slow. Search index thing?
When the drive has been opened the first time I have a blazing fast network access with absolutely no latency at all...
Any suggestions?

Please check how it works when connecting to other share folder.

Thanks. I created 1 mapped folder for a local folder. And 1 mapped folder for my mediacenter (Windows 7). Both of these showed immediately as accessible. But the two mapped folders on my server doesn't. Perhaps this isn't a Windows 8 problem afterall...hm.
I shall try to replicate the problem from my Windows 7 pc tonight.
I installed the network monitor and it shows:
My Traffic
System
Unknown
Unavailable
Other Traffic
Unknown
Underneath all leafs are a bunch of IPv4 and IPv6 nodes. I guess I should apply a filter where Source or Destination equals my server? And after that - what indicates trouble?

Folder Access Denied when trying to delete folder

I am using Windows 2008 server. I have a folder that I had setup as a share but now I want to delete it. I am logged in with a domain account that is a member of the local Administrators group. When I try to delete the folder I get a "Folder
Access Denied" message followed by "You need permission to perform this action. You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder".
Then I am presented the options of Try Again or Cancel. I select Try Again but again get the "Folder Access Denied" message. How can a member of the local Administrators group be denied access to deleting a folder that is on that same server
that I am logged into?

I would like to suggest you run the following commands with elevated privilege.
takeown /f {Folder Path}
cacls { Folder Path} /G administrators:F
Note: please replace {Folder Path} with the real folder path.
After that, please try to delete the folder again.

EA6500 - unable to setup Folder Access / FTP Server / Media Server functions

I purchased the EA6500 a few days ago, and when I'm connected to Cisco Connect Cloud I am unable to select Folder Access / FTP Server / Media Server. I click them and nothing happens.
Also, the Cisco light on the router keeps blinking. I'm googling to find out how to troubleshoot these situations but I'm having no luck.
I appreciate any help with these situations.

HT1923 Reinstalling iTunes, but unable to delete C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\. I have admin status, but I get an error saying "Destination Folder Access Denied"

Following instruction to reinstall iTunes, uninstalled iTunes and related components, verified all deleted. Need to delete C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ manually, but am getting and error that says "Destination Folder Access Denied". I do have admin status on my user account. What's next? Many of the files in these directories are Mobile Me and iCloud, should I uninstall those too?

I have the same problem and it looks like others do too. I have spent far too much time trying to find a solution but nothing has worked so far.
Does "end windows explorer for the processing menu" mean to end explorer.exe in the processes window in Windows Task Manager? Does "start new task" means File-New Task in Windows Task Manager? If so, the solution does not work for me.
Any other suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Just implemented such solution.
Login to Portal with administrator rights.
GOTO System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management > Global Services... Enter advanced mode > Activity Reporting Service.
Show advanced options > Active set "true"
Enter Directory name (default - portalActivityTraces)
Enter Base file name (for example - kmcActivity)
Restart Portal... You should wait some time before log appears, there is a delay which depends on Buffer Size.
You can find log /usr/sap/<System-ID>/JC<xx>/j2ee/cluster/server<n>/portalActivityTraces/

How to restrict folder access on the basis of an ip address

I would like to restrict folder or item access on the basis of an ip address or domain address, not only with access rights based on login server, to get the possibility of intranet end internet within the machine and the same instance of 9ias.

Currently, this option is not supported. Going forward, there will be an option for user hookups where you can add you own functions to augment the ACLs. The forthcoming 3.0.9.8.3 patch should include the function-based authorization.

Issue regarding folder access from job server?

We are using SAP BODS 4.0 sp2 setup. There is a requirement in our project. We are generating a text file as output and we are placing it in folder(particular path) on the job server. We have created user id and given access to the folder to end user.
Since the server is accessible through vpn. Is there any other way of sharing tat folder so that they can access in whatever network they are working.
The server is at Hyderabad and end users at Hyderabad can access through their LAN. But few users are some other places. How to provide access to them or enabling output file accessible to them.
Kindly let me know if any clarifications needed?

Hi,
This is a network related question . You could do many things like creating a shared folder and shared across the network drive or write a .bat script to schedule to copy the file and put it in end user folder. Your network admin would be in a position to guide you better.

A folder is assigned to View on Demand access level to User.
Is this possible. folder should be accesible in Infoview and should not even visible in Desktop Intelligence application.

In advanced rights am unable to find a right called "View Objects" in Application wise rights(Desktop Intelligence).
But It is available in Contentwise rights(Desktop Intelligence reports,DeskI Addins,DeskI templates).
But If I enforce the right at content level the folder may not appear in Infoview.
Am really fed up with as am trying this for the past 10 days.
My actual scenario is as follows:
*There is a folder called X which is assigned with View on demond acccess level to user A.*
*I have as pecific requirement that the particular folder should be accesible in Infoview only and It should not even visible in Desktop Intelligence application.*
Even if it is not possible give me a alternate.

Cannot sort in file/folder access control list in 8 or Server 2012

I use Windows 8 and Server 2012 Datacenter (with GUI). In 7/2008R2, I was formerly able to get properties on a file or folder, go to Security tab, click Advanced, and sort the access control list by type, access, inherited from, etc. Now, it
doesn't do anything when I click on the headings. I know I did not find this during the Beta or Release Preview periods, but I do wish this feature would be added back.
I tried to send this through MS Connect, but they said it was a Server 2008 issue. Does that mean that it was never supposed to sort? But I argue that 8 and Server 2012 have the bug. Here is an image of the window I am referring to, for

This is really frustrating. Just got 2012 R2 management server and a week after, I noticed the same issue. The only difference is that I'm sorting AD delegation, with 150+ ACEs. While having huge lists of ACEs, it is a must of being able to sort them
by different columns. Sad that it is considered a bug - it's usually an opposite, when a bug is offered as a feature...
I still hope this will be fixed with time to come, else - it will be more practical to use PowerShell than such handicapped GUI.

You can also do a "get info" (cmd+i) on the file/folder and set permissions for access under "Sharing and Permissions" at the bottom of the window (you may have to click the lock and authenticate yourself first).

Shared folder access problem in j2ee application

We are using SAP Netweaver 04s JAVA system.
In our j2ee application we are trying to access shared resource(file), but ejb is giving exception. Our code is as follows:
File srcDir = new File("\machine_namefolder");
if(!srcDir.exists())
{throw new Exception("directory does not exist", srcSys);
It gives expection "FileNotFoundException".
The same j2ee application is working fine when deployed on IBM Websphere.
We trired to access same shared path from windows, it is also working.

MUP always fails to run with spurious folder access and IPC issue.

Every time I run a MUP on our Mobile Sales Application, the MUP fails
during the first folder copy (MSA\Layout). The log gives an incorrect
description of the error saying that the layout folder cannot be
accessed. The actual issue, and manual fix, is to go to
C:\program files\sap\mobile\tpsfiles and in properties uncheck
the "read-only" flag and cascade the change to all subordinate files. I
also need to kill the "IPC Start" process. After doing this, I can run
the MUP successfully.
What is the SAP fix for this? Is there a new
ClientUpgradeTarget.exe to prevent all this nonsense?

We are running Mobile Client 70SP4, the ClientUpgradeTarget.exe has a date of 16/07/2009 (size 436kb).
