Folder always opens when imac wakes from sleep

Don't think its a huge problem but when new imac wakes from sleep the same folder always pops up on screen(shaded in black). It always has to be closed before I can proceed with anything.Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also the folders name is always highlighted red. Thanks

Searching the web for "appcode.hex" the first item that I found was for something related to an Olevia TV.

  • Networking issues following upgrade to 10.5.8 when iMac wakes from sleep

    Hello,
I recently upgraded to 10.5.8 and I'm now experiencing issues with network connectivity following the iMac waking from sleep. I have to stop Airport and then start it again to resolve the issue.
Can you provide any resolutions to this or advice?
    Many Thanks,

  • External hard drive won't power back up when iMac wakes from sleep

I have the external hard drive connected via USB. I always put my iMac to sleep before going to bed and I wake it up when I come home from work. Except that when I do, the external hard drive doesn't power up. It still shows in Finder, but clicking on it's folders just opens them up as if they were empty. There's no access noise and the drive can't be ejected.I have to switch it's power off and turn it back on for it to spin back up.
At first I thought it was because I had Energy Saver set to power down the drives whenever possible, which works just fine when it's on, the drive powers on and off as needed just as long as the iMac doesn't go to sleep. I turned it off just to make sure and it made no difference. As soon as the iMac goes to sleep and the drives powers down, it will not come back on without a power cycle once the iMac wakes.
I've used this drive in an old Macbook for years without having this problem. The only difference is that the Macbook was on 10.6.8. I was thinking about buying a 4 bay USB enclosure and filling it up with hard drives, but I'm not about to do that if every time I put the iMac to sleep, the whole thing will not power back on without a power cycle.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Not sure if you managed to get this issue resolved yet Marcus, but I too have a similar problem:
Currently I'm upgrading from Leopard to Lion (via Snow Leopard) on both an iMac and MacBook Pro (both Intel), but before I proceed with the OSX upgrade I wanted to back everything up. Thus far I have partitioned an external firewire drive (G Drive - one that is bootable), and cloned each machine using Carbon Copy Cloner to it's own partition (both GUID). There is plenty of space left over on each partition.
The issue - I can boot the OS X from the external drive on the MacBook Pro but not on the iMac.
When I restart and hold down Option on the iMac the only drive that appears is the HDD, not the other two selectable drives that are visible if I boot up on the MacBook Pro. On the iMac in System Prefs > Startup Disc I can see all 3 drives but when I select it and restart, the machine freezes on the grey loading screen and goes no further.
Not that it should make a difference, but there is a 3rd partition on the external drive that is currently empty (for extra storage).
Any help is greatly appreciated - I can't find any relevant answers elsewhere. Thanks,
    Dan

  • CD/DVD drive door opens when eMac wakes from sleep

I have two identical eMacs running OS 10.4.9 but for some reason one of them has a problem where the CD/DVD drive door opens by itself when I wake it up. Has anyone experienced this problem?
    Thanks!

The same thing happens to my eMac - and it has not been serviced at all. I have been watching your post for a reply. Can anyone provide a bit of help as to why the eMac CD door pops open upon waking from sleep?

  • CS5 frozen when iMac wakes from sleep mode

This problem just started, and I don't know if it's an INDD problem or a Finder problem. When I wake my computer from sleep and try to access INDD I can't. I click on the application icon in the Dock and it won't come to the front. All my other applications will. I have to force quit INDDD every time, and re-open it. This is whether I have a document open or not. I tried zapping the PRAM and shutting down, unplugging everything and starting back up but neither of those helped. Any advice or ideas of what could be wrong?

    It's Extensis Suitcase Fusion's auto-activiation plugin!
So, disable it to confirm. Then make sure you're running the latest version, and if so, take it up with Extensis. I believe they have free support on their web site.
Also, you should upgrade InDesign to 7.0.4, you're running 7.0.3, and there were a lot of fixes.

  • External hard drives ejecting after iMac wakes from sleep.

External hard drive keeps ejecting after iMac wakes from sleep. TM does not recognise, so have to unplug then re plug in Ext HD, only then TM will perform a back up. Not seamless backups. Help to resolve would be grand

  • IMac wakes from sleep on its own with Yosemite

After installing Yosemite, my iMac wakes from sleep all on its own multiple times throughout the day and night.  The screen does not turn on when this occurs and it goes back to sleep on its own.  I figured the my energy settings may have changed after the upgrade, but nothing is different.  I have no schedule set and the "wake for network access" is unchecked.

To my knowledge, any Mac that is 1. connected to power and 2. not powered down will wake periodically for the reasons I explained, and perhaps for additional reasons known only to Apple. If disabling "wake for network access" does not change anything, all I can say is that it's working as Apple intends it to work. Before you ask, I strongly discourage you from finding clever system "hacks" or workarounds to prevent your Mac from working as designed.
It may or may not be a bug. Whether it is or not though, if it bothers you, consider providing feedback to Apple.
When questions such as yours arise, it helps to look at iOS. iPads and iPhones will all periodically connect themselves for the purposes of downloading emails, Messages, alerts etc. There is no way to disable that, other than to completely power down the device, which almost no one does. Apple has been inexorably changing OS X to effectively implement iOS design features such as this – for better or worse is not for us to say.
May I ask why this concerns you? Perhaps that would lend some insight regarding possible solutions.

  • IPod 4G always mounts for disk use when Mac wakes from sleep

My 4G iPod is always mounting for disk use when my Mac (10.4.8, Dual 1.8 GHz G5) wakes from sleep, even though the settings for the iPod has "enable disk use" unselected. When I launch iTunes (latest version) the iPod promptly is unmounted. I have restored factory settings, I have reinstalled the computer's OS and iTunes with it.
What is going on and how can I make it normal?

    UPDATE:
I have started to turn off Bluetooth at night before I put my computer to sleep. I HAVE NOT HAD THE FIREWIRE RANDOM DISMOUNT PROBLEM SINCE. I do not know if this is a freak coincidence -- but so far, so much the better for my firewire drive.
Hope this helps someone else down the line... eh hem...

  • New iMac wakes from sleep sluggishly and requires password despite preference setting

My new iMac (Core i7) wakes from sleep very sluggishly and it requires a password despite the fact that I have de-selected this option in Preferences.
I have a new iMac.  I used Migration Assistant to move everything from my older Mac Pro, which was running Lion.  Under the Secucrity settings in Preferences, I de-selected "Require Password."
I use a bluetooth mouse and wireless keyboard.  Typically I click the mouse to wake up my Mac.  The screen comes to life and the cursor moves with the mouse, but...how can I explain this?  When I move the mouse in this situation, the cursor paints a gray swath over the desktop screen.  It looks like I am using a paint program.
After clicking the mouse repeatedly the computer becomes responsive and the password entry screen appears--most of the time.  I have tried to set it up so a password is not required, but usually I get this screen.  SOMETIMES, it behaves correctly--say one-fourth of the time.
Another problem...  When I shut the iMac off and then back on, it does not always link to my Apple bluetooth mouse.  I have to connect a USB mouse and re-link the wireless mouse.
I wonder if this is a software/OS issue.  My old Mac Pro had similar wake-up issues, and I wonder if Migration Assistant transferred them to my new machine.
Your thoughts and great ideas are appreciated.

I too am having trouble with my bluetooth mouse after upgrading to 10.7.2 and the associated iOS 5 upgrades.  The mouse keeps losing its connection.  I've turned bluetooth off, trashed the preferences, rebooted and repaired both the keyboard and mouse but the mouse keeping dropping out.  Keyboard seems ok.  Anyone have any ideas?

  • Display Changes Resolution When Computer Wakes From Sleep

I have a MacBook Pro bought in May of 2006. In the last year, this problem has been getting progressively more annoying to me. When the computer wakes from sleep (not every time, but most of the time) the screen will flash blue, then reset the resolution to 640 x 480, I think. To fix it, all I have to do is go to System Preferences and change the resolution, but when I do that, it pops up two windows, like it thinks I have a dual display set up. To fix this, I always click 'detect displays,' and it fixes it, but the next time I wake the computer from sleep, it does it again. This isn't really an urgent problem, but I would expect my computer to behave a bit better for me.
Thank you in advance for any aid you might give me.
    Lisel

Hi Lisel. I have a similar age MacBookPro that does the same thing. I don't really know how to fix it I'm sorry, I wish I did cause it's annoying. I just thought I'd let you know you're not the only one with this issue.
Basically, for some reason it thinks it has two displays connected, even when there isn't. To stop it being a total pain, make sure when it does come up with the two Display Pref windows to set them both to 1440x900, at least then when it does go dual display it won't be 640x480 and you can still read stuff.
I've also left the Display Pref icon on the top tool bar (next to the AirPort and Bluetooth and stuff), so I can just click that and Detect Displays. When it does that it figures out for itself it doesn't actually have two displays connected and so goes back to normal.
I know that's a workaround and not a fix, sorry. I'd be keen to know if anyone else has any better solutions:)
    Thanks,
    Mark.

  • Screen flickers when computer wakes from sleep

O.k., so I also had this problem when I updated to 10.6.8, but it's still here in Lion.........
When the computer wakes from sleep, I get a single flicker along the bottom 1/3rd of the screen, then everything's o.k.
It's just annoying, that's all. I've backed out to 10.6.7 on 3 occasions, and the flicker disappears.
    Anyone else having this issue?
    I'm running a 2010 Quad-core Mac Pro with SSD and 27" Display.
    Bob.

    Update:
I've now been to the local Apple store, and tried their display Mac Pro/27" Cinema Display combo, and guess what.......the screen flickers on wake-up.
I asked the guy in the store about it, and he says "oh yes, I see that. No-one has noticed that before, I wonder if mine does it at home".
I tried the Mac Mini with 27" Cinema display, and the 27" iMacs, and they were o.k. (no flicker).
So, this only affects Mac Pro's running 2560 x 1440 resolution.
I've booked another call with Apple Support. No doubt they'll still tell me to take my computer in for testing, even though I've shown they all do it (the guy in the Apple shop suggested that, even though I demonstrated the flicker to him on the one in the shop).
I wonder how long this will take to get a software fix? Problem is, the Pro is not mass-market (like Macbooks and iMacs), so it may take an awful long time.
In the meantime, I'm sticking with 10.6.7.
    Bob.
