Folder Appears Empty After Moving Applications Into It!

I clicked to add a folder on the main page and the folder was created fine. Then i clicked on an application and selected the "move" option and put it into the new folder I just made and then i open that folder and there is nothing in it! it just says "options" at the bottom of the screen and I can't click on anything. Anyone know how I can get some of my icons that I don't use that much into just one folder?

I had this problem too! Just pull your battery out with the phone ON and leave it out for 30 seconds. Put it back in and the phone will automatically reboot. Usually 1-3 minutes. Then check your folders again and let us know how it goes. Good luck.

I installed Sophos 9.2.2 on 10.6.8 and now my Applications folder appears empty.

I installed Sophos 9.2.2 on my iMac with 10.6.8. It found "spyware" in the form of a pixel ruler app I downloaded last year (it apparently had the "cowhand-c" trojan or something like that). I let Sophos remove it and after that, my Applications folder was empty. The list of applications still appear in the Applications folder in Finder Window SIDEBAR but not in the Applications folder itself. The status bar says "0 items." After using the "showAllFiles" command, I now see only ".localized" The following actions have had no effect: removal of Sophos, reboots, and a permissions repair.
As far as I can tell now, there is no impairment to the function of my iMac, but it's weird. Can this be fixed?

Disregard. Date display in Mail is also screwed up. It's time to use that Lion license I've had for just in case.
My Sophos Antivirus experience: very bad. A lesson has been learned: don't install what doesn't come from the App Store. This is why people say that some security software is as bad as the stuff you're trying to defend against.

HT3258 My 'Incompatible Software' folder was empty after 10.6 (Snow Leopard) install (upgrade)_

After installing Snow Leopard (10.6.3) over my 10.5.8 OSX, my 'Incompatible Software' folder was empty, save for a Read Me.rtf file that had no application-specific details inside. So does this mean I had NO incompatible software? I have the following apps:
Adobe Creative Suite CS3
MS Office 2008
Finale 2009 (music notation software)
ProTools LE appears to be missing, but is not listed in the Incompatible Software folder
FYI - Adobe Illustrator quit when I opened a file for the first time. Seems to be working now.

It sounds like you didn't have any incompatible. You should be good to go.

MacBook Pro says "startup disk full" and that I have 58GB of photos, but folder appears empty

For the past couple of days, I've been getting the message that I'm unable to save/download something because the startup disk is full. I checked the storage and the main problem appears to be 58.7 GB of photos, even though I've deleted all photos I could find (including iPhoto). I checked all of the folders on Finder, only to find my picture one taking up most of the space, but when I tried to view what was inside it appeared empty, and it wouldn't let me move the folder to trash. Any help on how to delete the contents of the folder?

AUDIO_TS folder is empty after Build completed

I've just run a Build and a Format (to DDP) of my single layer PAL DVD. The video track was .m2v and the were two .ac3 audio tracks.
The Build process completed with no errors. BUT, the resulting AUDIO_TS folder was empty. The VIDEO_TS folder had lots of files in it.
I am new at this... but shouldn't there be some files in the AUDIO_TS folder? I'd like to know if my DVD will have audio or not, and I don't know how to test the finished Format because the output was DDP.

If you put 5.1 audio in a standard Video DVD with
just some menus to play . . . what less you get
compared with an Audio DVD 5.1?
I would guess most 'real' DVD players would accept it, and a few high end Audio systems.
Other than it being a surround sound Audio disk (unlike an ordinary CD) I am not sure it has any benefits. This may be why sales of DVD-A and SACD disks have flopped.
It was not my disk so I don't have much experience of it/them myself. I merely came in contact with it because a friend wanted help converting it to a plain vanilla Audio CD so he could play it in his car.
I just could not get anything on the Mac to work with it and ended up converting the video DVD version it also came with by extracting just the audio from that, splitting it in to tracks and then burning to an Audio CD.

ITunes playlist empty after moving music folder

I have recently moved my music folder to a different partition on my PC. After doing that, my entire song list, including playlists, has vanished from iTunes.
I tried changing the media folder location by going to edit -> preferances -> advanced.
I tried holding Shift when starting iTunes and choosing the correct folder.
I tried exporting the playlist from my iPhone and importing back into iTunes (got an error message that the music could not be located).
None of the above worked...
What can I do now?
Keep in mind that I don't want to import my entire music directory back into iTunes, since I don't have enought storage space on my phone to sync the whole thing onto it.
Any ideas?

Hold down shift as you start iTunes. You should get a prompt to choose or create a library. Click choose. Browse to the folder for your relocated library and open the file iTunes Library.itl. If it still comes up empty, close iTunes and use the following technique...
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Can't drag/delete files from C Drive after moving them into the D Drive

Like many others, I have depleted my C Drive space and needed to move my iTunes folder into mt D Drive. I got these instructions from iTunes which tell me that after I have moved the files into the D Drive to find the old files in my C Drive and just drag them into the recycle bin. When I try that it tells me it can't be done because of copywrite protection issues. I need to free up that C Drive space by getting rid of those files. Can anyone help with this? I'd preferr an e-mailed answer if you could. Thanks.

Pcd folder is empty after installation

I have installed SAP Netweaver sneak preview 7.0.Server is running fine.I tried to get logon par (com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par) from
<J2EE_Engine_Instance>\j2ee\cluster\server<X>\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd.But the pcd is empty.I tried to get same through support after login to portal.
Is this problem with installation or ?
How can i get the par file in this case.

Network drive appears empty after upgrade

I had my SuperDuper backup on one of two drives in a D-Link NAS. TM backs up to a third drive that isn't on the network - just an external drive here on the desk. I upgraded last week and everything... well everything went to ****, generally, but TM had been working just fine since the upgrade. Today, however, it suddenly went nuts. It was taking forever and sucking up huge resources, even webpages were loading terribly slow. I left it alone for about fifteen minutes, then tried to cancel it... then Finder stops responding. So I try to relaunch Finder, which closes just fine, but I get an error and Finder won't reload. So I reboot, which takes a good 7 minutes.
Okay, now the network problem: after all that, I can view the files on my one network drive - ironically, the one I don't care about - but my network drive with my SuperDuper sparseimage shows up as empty. I checked in terminal and also FTP. Totally blank. Even though TM backs up on a different drive. What's up? Any ideas? I'm leaving the network drive alone until I figure it out... I really need that sparseimage (during this same issue, TM corrupted the external, so I had to reformat it... so now my only backup is [maybe] on this network disk).
Argh. I should have waited a month or two before updating. Let someone else deal with the early adopter bugs.

With Offline Files disabled the contents of the mapped drive are visible and accessible. Unfortunately, Offline Files must be enabled for BranchCache to work.
Looking in the Event Viewer at “Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\OfflineFiles\Operational” I can see that the mapped network drive transitioned to slow link during high latency but has never transitioned back.

Folder is Empty After Restore

I recently had several genius appointments to fix my MB Pro. They replaced the logic board, then the hard drive, and then another logic board as a repair. I did a Time Machine restore after the hard drive was changed out and it went fine except the folder I was working in last (8 mp3 files) is still there but empty. I was editing with Audacity. Thoughts?

Itunes has reverted back to default folder for music after moving it all on to HD

Hi!
I recently moved all my music from both my pc and my laptop (both windows) onto my external hard drive. I followed the step by step instructions set out by apple support. Everything was working great until I opened Itunes without my ex hd being connected. The itunes media file location has now gone back too F/;itunes. And 90% of the music in my library now wont play as it cannot find its original location.
How do I get back to using my ex hd?
Itunes scares the life out of me and im petrified that if I simply change it back to the filepath to my ex hd it will all go t*ts up basically?!
How do I fix it without messing up everything? Will I get duplicates then on my library?
And what folder in my hard drive do I direct it back too?
Would I be as well deleting itunes and reinstalling?
Any help would be great!!
Please dont be too techinal in your responses as Im not great with the pc lingo! Explain like you would to a child lol!!

You have a split library, database files on an internal drive, media files on an external drive. While this works it isn't portable and you have the issue with the media folder resetting to the internal path if you start iTunes without the external drive connected.
Making a split library portable
If your external media folder is called \iTunes\iTunes Media then process is relatively easy. Copy the contents of the iTunes folder on your internal disk into \iTunes on the external, then hold down shift (PC) or option (Mac) as you start iTunes and choose the iTunes library on your external drive.
If you external media folder has a different path or name then a few more steps are involved.
Consolidate your library before you start just in case the are any files outside of the designated iTunes Media folder.
If avaiable use the option File > Library > Rearrange files in the folder "iTunes Media" to upgrade the structure of your library to the post-Tunes 8 layout.
Copy the contents of the iTunes folder into the parent folder of the media folder.
Connect iTunes to the library on the external with the shift/option-start-iTunes method.
Close iTunes and rename the media folder as iTunes Media, then start iTunes, check a track or two, then close it again. (Skip this stage if the folder already has the correct name)
Rename/move the parent folder as \iTunes (or create a new folder at \iTunes and move the iTunes library files, Album Artwork & iTunes Media folders into it) then reconnect iTunes to the library with the shift/option-start-iTunes method.
If you should now start iTunes without the external drive connected, iTunes will warn you that it cannot find the library and prompt you to choose or create one. Simply cancel, connect the drive, and restart.

Outbox empty after moving inbox messages

Today in Inbox, I selected 'all' and moved the 2000 plus messages to a folder successfully. However when I opened the outbox to do the same archiving, it's empty. What happened? The outbox messages aren't in the new folder, they've disappeared.
Six months ago I moved all messages in the inbox and the outbox to separate folders successfully.

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
The Outbox is not the location of messages successfully sent, but rather a mailbox under the Icon Sent in the Slideout. Each email account you have, should have a Sent mailbox beneath this Sent Icon -- if more than one account, and if the small black triangle is turned to point downward, then the individual sent message mailboxes will display.
In Mail Preferences/Accounts/Mailbox Behaviors what is selected for erasing Sent Messages?
The Outbox that Mail creates will always be empty, unless some messages have not yet been sent.

IPhoto library appears empty after update.

A while ago I updated iPhoto to v9 and have been happily using my main personal iPhoto library since.
Recently, I needed to check one of my older, business, libraries and iPhoto is behaving as though it's a newly created library with no photos. Further checking of my eight further libraries showed seven of them in the same state, the other went through the expected 'upgrade' procedure and is intact.
So,
1. Why didn't the others update automatically?
2. How do I force them to update?
3. Short of going into the package contents and extracting the photos what else can I do to recover the situation?

If there are edited photos in the backed up library and you restore it you should be able to view those edits once you convert the library to the latest version of iPhoto.
There is no way to identify which are edited versions from the Finder.
Since iPhoto 7 will still run on Mavericks I would try this on one of your iPhoto 7 libraries or as restore iPhoto 7 library:
1 - restore iPhoto 7 from your Time Machine backup.
2 - launch it with the Option key held down and select the V7 library to open.
3 - close iPhoto 7 and relaunch with the Option+Command keys held down to open the First Aid window.
4 - select all options and rebuild.
5 - after the rebuild launch the iPhoto Library Upgrader
select the rebuild V7 library and upgrade it.
6 - launch iPhoto 9.5.1 and open the library. Check to see if it's working as it should.

Why are my folders empty after moving from desktop to documents?

I copied all of my files and folders from the desktop to "documents". They transferred ok and then I deleted them from the desktop. The next day, all of the newly moved folders were there in "documents" but they were all empty.
How can I find and/or recover them?

You can recover them from the backup you have on Time Machine.
