Folder favorite in Media Browser?

I looked in the help guide with no luck.
In Premiere Pro CS6 is it possible to make a folder your favorite in the Media Browser panel so that you can access to it quickly?
I see there is some kind of history of the different locations you've been exploring on your hard drive with the drop down menu, but I cannot seem to be able to make a specific folder a favorite so that I can access quickly to its content.
Thank you

No, there isn't a way to make a "favorite" folder. Sounds like a good feature request though. Make one here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish

  • How can I see my Pictures folder in the Media Browser?

This is something that doesn't only bug me in Pages, but also in many other applications, so if you have a solution that works for all media browsers, I would appreciate that.

    Thanks
Returning to the PDF User Guide I found:
+• Press the Command key, and then drag an image file from the Finder to the document window until you see the insertion point at the place where you want the image to appear. Release the image when you have placed it where you want it.+
+• Click Media in the toolbar, click the Photos button in the Media Browser window, select the album where your picture is located, press the Command key, and then drag a thumbnail to the document window, releasing the image when the insertion point is at the place where you want the image to appear.+
So, it seems that the fact that pictures which aren't in the iPhoto library doesn't appear in the Media browser is a deliberate feature.
I will file a message about this subjet but I feel that the hope to get an enhancement is really small.

  • Can't drag folders in Media Browser

It says everywhere (in the manuals) that if you open Media Browser (in Pages, KeyNote etc), you can drag in it from the finder your folders of images or sounds or movies. I try to do it, but when I click the folder in the finder, Media Browser disappears... Anybody can kindly help? MTIA

    Many thanks for yur help.
But if this is the case, somebody should at least correct the Help files where everybody can read:
*To add another folder to the Media Browser, do any of the following:*
To add a folder containing audio files, click Audio in the Media Browser, and then +drag the folder you want from the Finder to the Media Browser+.
To add a folder containing photos, click Photos in the Media Browser, and then +drag the folder you want from the Finder to the Media Browser+.
To add a folder containing movies, click Movies in the Media Browser, and then +drag the folder you want from the Finder to the Media Browser+.
Or possibly we +did NOT pay+ for the Help Files?

OPneing a project is fine but when I open that sequences folder in the media browser, premier crashes.  I have roughly 20 projects working currently and roughly 5 or 6 do this.  I did upgrade to Mavericks a few days ago which screwed up my AE and I fixed with a patch.  Is there something for Premiere as well?

  • Differences in Media Browser behavior in iWeb and Pages

In Pages, you can drag any folder into the media browser to add content other than that in iPhoto's library (if you have photos or scans in other folders) or outside of iTunes (if you have audio files not in iTunes but in some other folder), for example.
However, this can't be done in iWeb... (or I'm missing something?).

I forgot to mention I was talking about Pages 2. Actually, I tried Keynote 3, and the media browser behaves as in Pages 2. I believe Apple left in iWeb 1.0 the old code for the media browser found in previous versions of iWork.
Hopefully they will release an update soon. I would certainly like to have the flexibility of inserting any graphic/sound/media from the media browser, not only those I have in my iPhoto or iTunes folders.

  • When dragging in folder from media browser, some clips missing?

I've noticed a strange problem where if I drag a folder with video clips in from the media browser, not all of the clips will make it into the project all of the time.
Whereas if I open up that folder and select all the media files individually, they all make it into the project.
There doesn't seem to be any consistency that I can see when I drag in a folder and not all the files therein make it into the project. Has anyone ever seen this behavior before? This must be a bug.
Currently using Premiere Pro CC 2014 - 2014.0.1 on a Mac Pro (Mid 2010)

Actually - technically all of these clips are in the project. See I have a lot of unlogged clips in my project. I'm having another editor log the clips on a different computer, then I'm bringing the logged clips back into the project, and then just double checking the file count of the original folder and the file count of the new folder to see that they match up.
Does this shed any more light? The fact it's not consistent is what is weird. Is it possible maybe the clips that are already in a project and in a sequence somewhere don't get imported?
Any thoughts on how I can make the process smoother given the work flow? Thanks.

  • How can I add a folder of MP3s to Final Cut so they show up in the media browser?

I have a collection of royalty free audio clips in MP3 format. I would like to get them to show up in the media browser, so I don't have to go to the finder each time to get them into a project. Any idea how to do this?

If you want them in the Music and Sound media browser specifically, rather than in your Event Library, then you could easily just add them to your system's iTunes library, then access them via FCP X:
    http://help.apple.com/finalcutpro/mac/10.0/#ver549f1ed1
Or if you want to avoid adding / organizing them in your iTunes library then you can just drag and drop your already organized MP3 folder directly into the Sound and Music media browser pane inside FCP X and the app will add that folder to the browser inside a new "Folders" category.

  • Media browser should open a folder, but stucks, and giving an endless spinning ball

media browser should open a folder, but stucks, and giving an endless spinning ball. How can I reset at startup Pages?

What have you got in the folder?
It may simply be large and numerous, with possibly graphics that need to be converted like .eps, .ai, .bmp etc and it takes time to open, particularly if you don't have enough memory on a slow machine.

  • Where can i find the Media browser folder

Hi guys hey where can I find the media browser folder if I want to delete some FCPX videos to free up some space.

They are placed inside the project folder, in a folder called "Shared Items." The default location of the project folder is in your Movies folder, called "Final Cut Projects." On an external drive, the "Final Cut Projects" folder is at the top level.
The shared file will have a name that starts with the project name, and ends with whatever you shared it to. For example, "<projectname > - Mac and PC.mp4"
There will also be a file called ShareStatus.plist in that folder. It tracks all the instances of when you share the project. I will also control whether a little icon appears next to your project name in FCPX. Finally, if you delete an item that was shared and it still exists in that .plist file, you will see an exclamation point next to the shared icon; it is harmless but to get rid of that you need to delete the entry from the .plist file.
    Hope this helps!

  • Change media browser to folder instead of iphoto?

Is it possible to change the preference of the media browser to open image files from a folder of images on a hard drive instead of iphoto?

Yes, it duplicates everything and makes thumbnails of them all.
If you have everything set up with iView already, continue using iView. If you have an operating system which is modern enough to have Expose, the tassk of dragging from one program to another is much easier. inn fact, I prefer using the finder in this way because you don't have to have to open the media inspector, browse to your folder, drag the image in and close the media inspector (if you are on a smaller screen)
You just go to the otherr program/folder, find what it is you are looking for, click on it, press f9 and drag it over the Pages document, click f9 again and you are able to drop where you need it in the document.
I have found, in the past, relying on the media browser can be suspect. There are times when the computer hangs for over a minute for some reason, which can tie up Pages and, sometimes, the entire system. It's a nice idea for photos, but not necessarily the best for images. (and yes, there can be a difference)
My current question would be: Can you use the Aperture libraries within the Media Inspector of Pages & Keynote?

  • Migrating media browser favorites from CC to 2014

    Hi all,
Is there a way to "import" my media browser favorites as I upgrade to 2014?
I am still digging in the Library, preferences and common areas, but have not found a file specifically called media browser favorites or something similar.
I can rebuild, but now that you've given me favorites I have dozens...
    Thanks,
    Dan

From a quick test I did, the MB favorites are saved to the app preferences. That means that you should be able to migrate your prefs from CC to CC2014 through Sync Settings. I have no experience doing this, but I gather that in order for Sync Settings to migrate settings from an earlier version, you basically need to launch CC2014 in a state where no preferences for that version exist yet. If you've already been running CC2014, that would necessitate clearing the preferences. Also, I think, you had to enable the Sync Settings feature in CC so that the prefs from that version are stored in your Creative Cloud account, but honestly I'm not positive about that part.
To learn more, please consult the Migrate Sync Settings section here.

  • Media Browser for photos in Lion?

Hi,  Updated to Lion and have a question.  I no longer see a media browser(or media section) in the left side of my finder windows. I want to be able to see photos without opening up iPhoto.  I have a "pictures" folder under favorites, but this does not let me view the phoos.  I see in mail, there is a photo browser.  How do I get one like the Mail browser into my finder on the left side?  Many thanks for your help.

What you're referring to is the Media heading in the Open dialogue. This has nothing to do with the Finder. And, yes, the media heading is still there

  • Can you see which timeline clips are being used in Media Browser?

I'm a relatively new user and may not be familiar enough with cs5.5 but
is there a way to see what clips are being used on the editing timeline in the media browser.
I open premiere pro - Project is loaded. I edit the scene until it is finished.
When I look over at the media browser, all my raw clips (some of which I'm
using on the editing timeline) look the same - I can't tell which ones I using on the timeline.
The reason I ask - when I fiinish editing a scene it would be nice to glance over at the
media brower folder where my raw clips are located - easily see which ones I'm using because they
are highlighted or checked and then delete the ones I no longer need.
Is there a way to do this now?
    Thanks
    Jeff

I dont think so  but a better way is to look in the top of the Project Window and there is a drop down that will show you all the useage instances of the clip.  You can click on them to go to them in the timeline.

  • Feature Request:  Standard Keyboard Navigation in Media Browser and Project Panel

It's been a while since I've had time to submit a feature request.  I've wanted to see this one for a while.  If you agree, please submit your own feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish/
System Navigational Keyboard Shortcuts in Media Browser and Project Panel
Windows (and I'm sure Mac) has a standard set of keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts for keyboard and mouse.  I'm so used to using them in daily browsing (both in Windows Explorer and in any web browser) that missing them in the PPr Media Browser, or getting a different result in the Project Panel, is still very jarring and slows my workflow (even after having used Premiere Pro [again] since version CS4).
I propose that the Media Browser and Project Panel should honor the OS defaults for keyboard and mouse folder/file navigation.  A few of the standard (Windows) keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts are listed below (listed in order of most helpful to my own work):
    Moust Back Button = "BACK"
ALT + LEFT ARROW = "BACK"
UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT = steps through the various folders within the view.
UP, DOWN walks through the directory tree while RIGHT expands the currently selected folder and LEFT contracts that directory (twirl down, etc).
    ENTER opens a folder.
ALT + UP = "Folder Above"
ALT + RIGHT ARROW = "FORWARD"
    F2 Renames a folder
ENTER "takes" that name to the clip. (current functionality used ENTER to rename a file/folder).
    ESC cancels the renaming operation.
Pressing Enter on any piece of Media or Title, etc should take an "expected" action acording to it's context.  (i.e. ENTER on a video clip would load it inot the Source Monitor.  ENTER on a Title would open it in the Title Editor.  ENTER on a folder would take us into that folder).
These functions exist in both Windows Explorer as well as most modern Web browsers.  When browsing files and Project folders, it's what I've come to expect.  It's muscle memory, if not intuitive.  I realize that many of these keyboard commands are already in use in other windows/panels of the application, therefore, these commands should be Panel-specific (i.e. ALT+LEFT works differently in the Media Browser and Project Panel than it does on the Timeline/Sequence).  And as always, when making such changes (i.e. changing the behavior of ENTER to F2), this set of keys should be highly configurable based on preference:
    Preference:
checkbox:  Use OS-specific navigational keyboard and mouse commands in Media Browser and Project Panel
checkbox:  Use the (very few) "classic" Adobe keyboard commands in the Media Browser and Project Panel
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Media Browser is clicking the BACK button on my mouse—only to realize, yet again, it doesn't work that way in PPr.
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Project Panel is pressing F2 to rename a folder/bin.  Of course that doesn't work.  And when I've renamed it, I press ENTER to save the name, but that only moves me to the next folder ready to rename it, too.  I also find, out of habit, I try to navigate the bins using the arrow keys and then open the bin/folder using ENTER.  Instead, my bin is asking for a new name and I hit ESC to avoid renaming it—now THERE's a shortcut that works the way it should.
I realize this feature may be controversial to some, since it's not the way we're used to doing things in PPr.  However, I'm sure there are just as many out there, like me, who are confounded as to why PPr has never worked with the "conventional" navigation shortcuts found throughout the rest of the operating system, be it Windows or Mac.
