  • Create a smart folder for images imported "TODAY"

    Is it possible to create a smart folder for images imported today? The only close option I have been able to find is by selecting the "import session" option, but that forces me to select from a series of sessions that have already been imported. I'd like to be able to have a single folder, day after day of what I imported today almost like the iPhoto "last roll" folder. Possible?

    There is a Filter Rule "Import Session" but as implemented (as you discovered) it isn't easy to use.
    What I do is:
    . add "Import Session" to the "List -- Expanded View" Metadata Overlay
    . click "Photos"
    . change to List
    . change to Expanded Overlay if needed
    . click the column header "Import Session" (note that this adds "Import Session" to the sort drop-down)
    . change back to Grid view as needed
    I use this to confirm imports, and to find any that I mis-placed.

  • How choose destination folder for images edited in external program?

    Using LR 2.3 with the Windows 7 beta. It seems to me there should be a preference or option to set the destination folder for an image sent for editing in Photoshop. The default is the folder where the originals are located, which seems to me to be the worst choice. In any event, I can't find where in LR the user can choose a destination folder for the edited image. Ideally, the user should be able to choose this for each set of images being edited, and the choice would be available in the dialog that appears when the user sends an image out to Photoshop.
    So is there a way to set the destination folder for the image that results from sending an image out for editing in Photoshop or other external application?
    Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks very much. I have CS4, but haven't installed it yet. So I have been using the rendering option. Apparently that is part of the problem, because I seem to recall that there was a Save As option shown when LR 2 was compatible with whatever the ACR with CS3 was.
    Saving with originals seems an odd default. I wouldn't think too many photographers mix processed work with originals, and making the destination folder choice always available wouldn't seem to be a particularly difficult piece of engineering.
    Anyway, your answer was very helpful.

  • Change image folder for image resources

    Hello all,
    it’s been a while since I was last here.
    Still working with wonderful Adobe Edge, yet trying to change some things here and there ;-)
    I wonder if anyone tried to change the way Edge writes out the „var im='images/';“ (in the .js file) variable.
    Since I’d like to do something like this:
    * Adobe Edge: symbol definitions
    (function($, Edge, compId){
    //images folder
    var im='images/';
    var im_work='templates/Chart_'+ workChart +'/images/';
    var im_next_work='templates/Chart_'+ nextWorkChart +'/images/';
    to keep the source of the images (used from multiple compositions) flexible.
    So that all compositions may use common images looking for them in the „image“ folder
    but also specific images that depend on which composition is actually working (I achieve it by the way by using templates mustache.js).
    I can do this comfortely after Edge wrote out the .js file but everytime I opened the animation again and save Edge overwrites it again
    cancelling everything except „var im='images/';“ so that the variables disappear.
    Is there a way to change this feature, so that different image folders could be used?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot

  • Specific folder for Image assets?

    I need to be able to choose a specific folder to generate image assets to! Is there some way to do this?
    Instead of just creating a folder called nameOfMyFile-assets, I want to generate assets to a folder elsewhere!

    You would have to customize it using the Generator API.

  • Is there any way to force iPhoto to present faces by folder for identification rather than randomly?  Would provide better context for identification especially if a huge number of images is involved.

    Before I commit the time and energy required to load and tag faces in 25,000 images within iPhoto, I need some questions answered;
    Is there any way to force iPhoto to present faces by folder for tagging rather than randomly?  When so many images need tagging, over many years, the context of a folder helps with the identification. The work around is to load the images into iPhoto one folder at a time and do the tagging then.
    How do I get iPhoto to present the tagged faces by last name rather than first name? When so many faces will be identified, it is much easier to find people by surname, particularly when I share the library within the family. The work around is to enter names as last name and first name.  Being able to toggle the sort is much more desireable.
    Is there a way to export a portion of the library including faces?  I want to pass on portions of this huge 125 GB library to my family members.
    Since my family members will need an Apple computer to view the images and faces, they will likely have their own photo library.  So is there any way to combine two libraries and merge the faces?
    About 2/3 of my images have been scanned, so the date of creation is the scanned date rather than the date the photo was taken.  Will this mess up any sequencing or the retrieval of faces?

    If I want to carve off part of a library, I presume the way to do this is to make a copy of the library using PLM then go into iPhoto and delete what I don't want.  The result is the carved off portion.
    You don't need Library Manager to delete the portion you don't want.
    As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
    If I want to merge two libraries, PLM implies that it will do this but will the Faces be merged too?
    I believe so.

LR 6 corrupted an entire folder of images, and caused errors on my Raid 5 causing win 7 to run "Chk Dsk" and fix the errors to the operating system. LR 5 has not shut down for the last 5 hours. LR 6 has a serious bug. Anyone else experiencing this problem. Yesterday I was on tech support, waiting for 3 hours, finally they picked up and informed me there department was closing and someone else would call me on Monday. So, I'm working today and all day Sunday to make up for the down time using LR 6.
    I don't know if the bug exists in the program or the "Creative Cloud.
    Question: Does anyone know why if I bought Light Room 6 [NOT Light Room CC with the monthly rental], I have to enter my serial number if I want to use it?

    Entering the serial number is probably part of the registration process.
    Just out of curiosity, what were you doing on LR6 when the folder of images became corrupted?

    Hi Marco,
    You can find those uploaded image files in KM. KM is like your file server but is within the Portal that you can use to manage your files/content/data. Files, content or data exist in KM can be index and search via the Portal TREX (Search Engine).

  • Relative paths for images upset by forwarding requests

    Hello World.
              I am using a web app deployed in Weblogic 5.1 with service pack 8.
              I have hit a problem which puzzles me. When I forward a request from
              one JSP to another (say from A to B) the web server seems to take the
              URLs of the images on the served file (B) relative to the path on the
              calling file (A). Here's a detailed explanation...
              Suppose I have a the web app structured as follow
              /oddApp/launch/A.jsp
              /oddApp/B.jsp
              /oddApp/images/tick.gif
              Page A simply stores its request URI and forwards its request to page B
              <jsp:forward page="/B.jsp" />
              Page B displays its requestURI, contextPath and servletPath. It also
              attempts
              to show three images
              <img src="images/tick.gif">
              <img src="../images/tick.gif">
              <img src="/images/tick.gif">
              When I invoke page B directly, the first image is shown, the others are not.
              When I invoke page A, it forwards to B and the second image is shown, the
              others are not.
              In each case the URI, contextPath and servletPath are correctly displayed
              with regard to page B.
              URI = [oddApp/B.jsp]
              contextPath = [oddApp]
              servletPath = [B.jsp]
              The URI in A.jsp is also correct (i.e. /oddApp/launch/A.jsp).
              The search for the images seems to be relative to the original URI (i.e. not
              the URI used to forward), which strikes me as daft. It means that page B
              must be aware of where it is being called from. It is perfectly plausible
              that
              relative paths which suit when called from one location are incorrect when
              called from another.
              I had thought that including the leadling slash (as shown as the third
              image)
              would cause the search relative to the document root (/oddApp/), but this
              appears not to be the case. The search is done relative to the root of the
              server not the web app.
              Adding jsp mappings in the deployment descriptor of the web app does not
              help (I had thought it a long shot anyway).
              Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
              PHiL

    i face the same problem (WinNT, WLS6.0): my wep app has a contextRoot " root " which makes it react to the URL: http://host:port/root /: it is this folder which will be used as a basis by the Web server But in the jps I use a relative URL for images: / images/toto.gif : it works very well when I deploy my jsp out of a Web-app by setting a document.root to the weblogic web server.On the other hand, once deployed in a Web-app, images are not found because the default path of the browser is http://host:port, without the context root of the Web-app! In other words, my war has images/*.gif in its root but when /images/toto.gif is resolved in a jsp, as the relative URL is not prefixed by my context-root, the image is not search in the war! actually, if I type http://host:port/root/toto.gif, my image appearsany clues? an alias on the web server? a setting in web.xml/application.xml and their weblogic equivalent files?

  • Fixing the path for images in RoboHelp 8

    I am rather new to Robohelp, so please forgive me if this has been addressed in another dicussion...I have been searching and cannot seem to find what I am looking to describe.
    I am working in Robohelp 8, and  creating a new help system by importing topics from a previous help system. The problem I am running into and I cannot see how to fix is that there are a couple of topics that have images where instead of the path for the image directed to a folder called "Images" in the main directory, it dumps the graphic into the project manager window when I import the topic. I tried viewing topics that don't have their images on the main project manager window, and comparing against the one that does, and I cannot see the difference. I have tried renaming the images and placing in the correct folders, and then inserting the images into the topics, but it still tries to look at the main folder and still dumps the image into the project manager.
    Any help you can provide please share.

    I am going to say yes (because it sounds like what I am trying to get at, but not sure).....I have tried deleting the images, and recreating, and then re-inserting into the topic, and they still go to the root of project. As I am going along, I am finding more and more.....so far there are 20 images that are doing this.  However, I also just did what you mentioned and dragged it and put it under the topic. But I am still confused as to why I would need to do this for some topics and for other topics the images don't appear at all (meaning they don't show under topics or root of project), they are just linked through the folder on the main directory. Does this image help more?
    Left of picture above: The folder directory has a folder called Images, and this is where all of the images were stored and are stored for the new project.
    Middle of picture above: The topic Horizontal Command had an image in it "image20.gif", and it was at the root directory and as you suggested I moved to the topic. Also see the topic circled Expand and Collapse Folders topic has the image circled at the left within it.
    What I am trying to understand is why would the graphic from the Horizontal command topic dump into the root of the project, while the image from the Expand and Collapse Folders topic not show on the root project or even within the topic listed. (Which is what I prefer for all topics).

  • How do I use iPhoto vs. Pictures folder for organization and viewing?

    I have a high level question as to how to use, in general not specific functions, iPhoto on my new iMac.  I imported all of my PC files from an external drive into the appropriate Folders (Pictures, Documents, Music, Movies) successfully.    So my large collection of photos resides in many sub folders under Pictures (like ‘2012 Mom Visit’ or “Christmas 2008’).
    My question is should I be using iPhoto as my primary app for viewing and organizing my full inventory of pictures, along with obviously editing/creating? Or do I use the default Pictures folder, and dig through with Finder or some search mechanisms if I only want to look at a photo and save iPhoto for editing and creating tasks?  If iPhoto should be my primary photo browsing and organizing tool, and I hope so because I would like a tool to just organize/view/search all my photos rather than thumbing through the folder structure, how to I “import” or tell iPhoto where all my photos are (there are a lot under a lot of subfolders)?  Will iPhoto then keep duplicate copies of these or do all my photo files remain in the Folder structure?
    Bottom line: is iPhoto supposed to be my go-to place for all my photo browsing, viewing, searching as well as editing and creating?  Should every photo I add to this iMac somehow be linked or imported through iPhoto?
    I also have pictures in the cloud and on an iPad (since my PC died I dumped camera photos directly to the ipad) but I’ll deal with these after I understand the appropriate use for iPhoto.
    Thanks for any input.

    The important thing to remember is there is no "supposed to" or "best way". There's what works for you and you photos. This may be iPhoto or some other app.
    Couple of thoughts: iPhoto is not an editor. It's a Manager - like Contacts for your Addresses or iTunes for your Music, it offers powerful and easy to use tools that will help you manage and share your photos in the various ways you might need it. It will also enhance and crop and edit photos as well, but if you're not using it as a manager then forget about it for editing as it will be just too complex. There are loads of editors out there.
    If you use iPhoto then it's your "go-to" for anything to do with your Photos. Viewing, Organising, sharing, Uploading, Printing, whatever. All of these things can be done either with or via iPhoto. Put another way, you never access your files via the Finder.
    For more on this see this User tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4491
    There are two ways to set up your iPhoto Library. Managed and Referenced
    A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
    A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
    As you are new to iPhoto I strongly urge you to run a Managed Library. There are many pitfalls with a Referenced one - see here for instance
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3062728?tstart=0
    and for someone new to iPhoto and The Mac you can lose data very easily with a Referenced Library.
    However you store the files, importing is the same: easiest way: drag a folder of images to the iPhoto Window and iPhoto will import it and create an Event from it.
    If you have a managed library then it will copy the files into its own Library. You filing structure is then pointless. You can trash it - but don't do it immediately. iPhoto is a great app, but it's not necessarily for everyone. When you've lived with it for a few weeks and are sure it's for you, that's when you can trash your own filing structure.
    The problem with what you have now - files-in-folders-and-subfolders - is that it is limited. Searching is trcky as you don't have a whole lot of things to search on. I append the following to show you some of the options available in iPhoto.
    I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
    Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
    Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 44k library in a couple of seconds.
    So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a  typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
    Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
    Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
    add Rating is greater than 4 stars
    The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John  to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
    In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

  • Looking to create script(s) that open a folder of image and save as each image is edited/retouched.

    I used to use the iOpener plug-in to read a folder of images and present each image to me to edit/retouch.  When I was done with the image, I clicked a button on a panel and it saved the resulting PSD in a designated destination folder and automagically retrieved the next image in the folder.  Do this repeatedly until all images in the folder were processed.  Fundy had a nice tool (Batch Editor), but it is end-of-life and not being offered anymore and iOpener seems to no longer be maintained.  Target app is Photoshop CS6 / CC.
    I want to build a simple set of scripts, embedded in a panel, that would let me replicate the basic function of these tools.  Open an image from a selected folder.  Let me do all the edits I want.  Then save the result to a designated destination folder (or just a Save and Close), the serve up the next image.
    I have many years of software development in other languages, but relatively new to adobe scripting so am looking for example code to get me heading the right direction.  Also doesn't hurt to know whether something like this already exists and I can just use it.

  • How can i see the previews of a folder's images from the Thumbnail View?

    I mean, in windows XP if you set the Thumbnail View, inside the icon of the folder you can see the preview of the images inside ( like this http://mowd.idv.tw/LonghornPDC/folder_preview.JPG )...
    Is there a way to do it on Mac OS X? Maybe some plug-in, some file manager: anything...i often have to check out thousands of photos to find the reference for an illustration, and it's pretty frustrating having to open up every folder...
    Thanks in advance
    iMac 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    but none of these two options allows me to see a folder's images BEFORE opening it...
    You want to go back and try that again... just right click on the folder - you don't have to open it - and choose 'Show In PicturePopPro2'.
    Check out the icons on the menu bar - you can get a contact sheet view, move from shot to shot using the arrow keys... it'll do what you want.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks.
    My HD is a "normal" HD, so I guess it's HFS+. (According to Disk Utility it is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
    The NAS is WD MyBook Live Duo. I just plugged into my Time Machine.
    I am relocating using Aperture "relocate originals for project" under the File tab.
    Ahh, thanks for the answer to question 1.
    Yes, I am trying to relocate them, but tried different things to find the problem.
    And the problem seems to be that when an image gets an extra attribute (when it's downloaded from the internet, when it is comes from a mail message) then Aperture seems not to be able to move the file.
    I.e. Aperture presumeably asks the Finder or kernel to perform this task, and this then fails because of the extra attirbutes that were set.
    I now found a way of manually removing the extra attributes, but that is a pain.
    Think of this normal workflow:
    - someone sends me an email containing images
    - I move the images to my Desktop
    - I then import the images into Aperture
    - I then decide to relocate my images for that project to my NAS
    Then is when this problem occurs.
    So I just tried to relocate to another place on my HD.
    That works fine.
    I looked again at the error message.
    And it says "could not set attributes com.apple.metadata:kMDItemDownloadedDate on destination file descriptor" .
    So, yes, it seems like it has to do with the NAS not supporting setting the extra attributes.
    And as long as there are no extra attributes on an image, there is no problem.
    (Not completely true, but I have another thread about that)
    Thanks Frank, I have to digest this a bit.
    Regards
    Jan
