Folder icon, can't mount ipod in updater, ipod not being shown anywhere

I have reset ipod,uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and ipod, downloaded the latest itunes and ipod updater, and tried to go into updater to restore or update ipod and message has said "service error","internal error", and "can't mount ipod". I really feel helpless and frustrated. Please help me.

I have recently purchased (from the States) an ipod nano 6th generation. I belong to a local library and can download books from the audiobooks online section. Problem is, my iPod when synced to iTunes, does not show Library as a category and audiobooks. If you have an issue with the audiobook showing up in music, check to see if those tracks are labeled as audio books or music. The article below will explained as well as I have highlighted the main portion for changing that information.

Identify an item that you imported from a CD as an audiobook, so it appears under Audiobooks instead of Music (click the Options button and choose Audiobook from the Media Kind pop-up menu). If you do this, iTunes also remembers your place in the audiobook

IPOD Software Updater- "Restore" not working

The IPOD software updater will not allow me to restore my Nano.
Both the update and restore buttons are not "active". The updater prompts me to plug in my Nano and automatically attempts to update my Nano which isn't necessary since there's no new update.
This caused the "Do not disconnect" message to appear for a long time until I turned it off.
Any thoughts, suggestions...would be very much appreciated!

Fixed! I had the same issue and have fixed it... for now!
Let me go into the details...
My wife and I just received our new Nanos. Her's has been exhibiting strange behaviour so I have tried to restore.
On her latop, the latest iPod Updater did not at first 'see' the Nano whereas on my laptop, it sees the Nano and starts to restore then stops when the progress bar gets to the 'd' of "iPod". I have had to force quit and try again and each time it gets fo far and stops.
By putting the Nano into Disk Mode, I can get my wife's laptop to "see" the Nano and, once again, it stalled at exactly the same spot. I force quit the update and tried and again... and it worked this time!
The only difference this time was that I was holding the Nano in my hand. I can see no reason why this would be relevant unless the connector had been ever so slighty lose, though this is a long shot.
So, I am back to having 2 functioning Nanos... for now!

I've copied a .NET application from an older 2008 server running IIS 7.0.600.16386 to a newer 2008 R2 server running 7.5.7600.16385. The .NET framework version is 4.0.30319. I've setup an application pool and copied the wwwroot directory.
I've checked for nested web.config files and I've been reading a lot about converting the site to an application. The older server running the application is still up and running and the configurations look identical. If I convert the site to an

Non-Admin not being shown update button on XP

Non-Admin users on XP are not being shown the option to trigger an update.
The mozilla update service is installed but as normal users aren't able to start the update process it never gets as far as starting it.
When a new update is available a link to the download page is shown in the About box rather than a button to start the update.

That is good. It would be better if that were the case with a standard account on Mac OS. I can no longer trust that button because it will start downloading an update if there is one, even though I disabled Firefox updates completely.

I have followed all the instruction in the support and itunes still unable to deted my ipod. The funny thing is, if i uninstall itunes, Windows 8.1. will detect my ipod but when itunes is installed, both itunes and windows 8.1. cannot detect my ipod. Thank you in advance for all your help.

the message box says like this:
An ipod has been detected but could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect ipod, then try again. If the problem persists, unisntall itunes then install itunes again.

All of us here are users just like you. We have no inside info of when Apple products or operating system updates/upgrades will be released. The next iOS may not even change the issue you have.

Well, go ahead and try every port, make sure to clean out the port with a q-tip, to make sure no dust is blocking the ports.
Then enter DFU, if iTunes doesnt recoginze it when your in DFU, that means you charging input is damadged.

Ipod w/folder icon can be regognized by iTunes but...

I've had my 3G iPod for almost 3 years and it stopped working about a year ago when my computer froze. From then on I get the folder icon with an exclamation point every time I boot it up.
I tried to see if iTunes 7 was able to fix it since past updaters froze the computer once my iPod was connected. So Windows recognzied it and iTunes did as well and asked me to restore it. So I downloaded the software but when I went to restore it, iTunes said it had an error which gave me # 1816 or something to that sort.
I haven't been able to repeat this yet but I'm still working on it to get the exact error message.
Can I save my iPod without sending it in?

If both do not help, find another PC but with only iPod updater 06-2006 verison preinstalled, connect your iPod with it and click Restore.

"ipod cannot update - file not found" after getting new ipod

i had my ipod replaced today at the apple store because of a bad HD. Seems like the one they gave me was brand new...anyway after following the restore/charge directions, i went to go plug it into my dock and Itunes is telling me it can't update the ipod because the file is missing. i definitely have the latest update installer, and i even tested playlist syncs with the new ipod and it definitely updates songs/playlists, but after that it gives me the error message about not being able to update.
i ran the last updater, and it says my ipod is up to date.
what's going wrong? i must have done something wrong.

it's doing it AGAIN. after it started updating after restoring all was well, it tried to add my whole library which won't fit.
when it add's a "library selection" instead automatically, it fills up my ipod so that the photos won't update.
then when i re-mount the ipod, it gives me the same old error message again about missing the file required for updating!?!?!?
i wish my preference to "manually add songs" instead of syncing the library would save in Itunes when i restore my Ipod. it's making it impossible for me to get things working properly after restoring....
