Folder Icon Not Updated?

The entire app and folder icons updated with OS x.10 install EXCEPT for my Documents and Dropbox folders -- they look like they did in 10.9.X... Why on earth wouldn't two folders update their icon with the rest of the OS?  Any info you can provide is appreciated!

Hi dgbakker-
When you open Firefox and go to the Firefox > About menu, does it say that Firefox is up to date? I've seen at least one other person with this issue, and any more detail would be helpful.

  • CS Live Icon not updating due to Adobe Story

This is terribly annoying. The icon in Photoshop will not update, even though I have already signed in and used Adobe Story, despite it being completely useless to me in my line of work. What do I have to do to get it to recognize I have seen the service and unflag? Or is it possible to remove items from that list or something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    hi,
I think you are talking about the 'blue start icon' that is appearing infront of the 'adobe story' link.
If that's the case than it's a bug which is persent in CS5 and has been fixed in 'soon to be released update'
for now there is a workaround:
           1) close photoshop and kill 'cs5servicemanager' process from activity monitor
           2) now delete the cache folder (location of cache folder shown below, click to enlarge)
        3) start photoshop and verify

  • FrameMaker update book icon not updating and custom formatting help

    Hi,
I am fairly new to FrameMaker, and I am currently experiencing two issues:
    First Issue
I am currently trying to create a book that currently has three chapters. I am trying to break it out into the following format:
Main TOC - includes all the headers and related pages for the entire book
Mini TOC - includes a mini TOC that highlights all the headers and pages associated with Chapter Source File A
Chapter Source File A - includes all related content to Chapter Source File A
Mini TOC - includes a mini TOC that highlights all the headers and pages associated with Chapter Source File B
Chapter Source File B - includes all related content to Chapter Source File B
Mini TOC - includes a mini TOC that highlights all the headers and pages associated with Chapter Source File C
Chapter Source File C - includes all related content to Chapter Source File C
Whenever I click the Update Book icon, however, it does not update the headers and page numbers. They still remain the same way when I first generated them. This occurs for both the main TOC and mini TOC.
    Second Issue
In addition to the format structure I designed for my book, I also wanted to create a custom format look that remains constant whenever I update my TOC. I have tried testing this, but I noticed every time I generate a new TOC it is always in the unformatted FrameMaker style which you have reformat each time.
Is there a way to create a custom format look that can retain the design and simply update the TOC headers and page numbers each time it needs to be updated?
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thank you!

First I'd highly recommend getting Matt Sullivan's Publishing Fundamentals: Unstructured FM11 book - it's a pretty complete reference one to have on FM.
Second, it sounds like you may not have your ToC reference pages set up correctly - if nothing changes when you've added content that should have created more ToC headings and shift pages around, then something is amiss. Your formatting problem is solved by doing a bit of a dodge - you create a ToC and generate it, then replace it with your formatted .fm doc keeping the exact name as the generated doc; then update again. Now the content is formatted the way you want and keeps being updated each time you update.

  • Utility folder icon not displaying like App folder icon?

Hi- noticed when I drag the system Utility Folder into the Finder Toolbar it does not display similar to the Applications folder - not the Sidebar, but the horizontal toolbar holding the view option buttons (as a favorite item). The Applications folder displays as the same "A"-type icon as in the Sidebar, but the Utilities folder displays as a folder, not the "X"-type icon it appears as in the sidebar. This seems nonstandard- I'd like to see what I can do about having it display in the Toolbar as it does in the Sidebar.
I know, I know, "Why?". I just need to, ok? Otherwise I won't stop thinking about it. Any ideas? Assuming this is the same case for everybody's system, not just mine. I would've posted this in the "OS X System" forum, but it's not really developer related. I'm also guessing this involves going into the icon resources, and making a change to match the resources for the Applications folder, but that's a blind guess. I did a similar change for the slider in iTunes to have it match the Quicktime slider, but not sure in this case, or where to look. Thanks!

To clarify: This is about how the Utility Folder displays in the Finder Sidebar vs. how it displays in the Finder Toolbar (both shown by selecting "Show Sidebar" and "Show Toolbar" in the Finder "View" pulldown menu.
    Finder Sidebar, Finder Toolbar:
    http://grok.lsu.edu/Article.aspx?articleId=5920
Any folder can be dragged into either space, and without using the Customize Toolbar option. Just drag and drop the folder.
Dragging the Utility Folder into the Sidebar displays it correctly, as its specialized, unique crossed-tools icon. However, dragging the Utility Folder into the Toolbar will not, unlike all other folders assigned with those special icons.
In the Sidebar, certain folders will display as non-folder icons. For instance, under "Places" the Home Folder does not display as a mini Home Folder icon, it displays as a little "house". The Desktop Folder displays as a mini-picture of a Desktop, the Applications folder displays as an "A" made up of a crossed ruler, pencil, and brush.
This is the same for the Finder Toolbar, when you drag one of those specialized folders into the Toolbar.
So, on the left side of a Finder window, you have the Sidebar, with its specialized icons (for certain folders, not all) and along the Toolbar (across the top of a Finder window, with its typical column-view buttons) you will also see those same (or other) specialized icons. In all cases, a folder's icon will display the same in the Sidebar as it does in the Toolbar. Except for the Utilities Folder.
If it isn't already, drag your Utility Folder into the Sidebar, and then, in that same Finder Window, drag it into the toolbar. Not the bar at the top of your monitor screen, but the toolbar of that specific Finder window. You should have the exact same result. The Utility Folder will display as a specialized icon in the Sidebar, but will display as a small version of its original blue folder icon in the Toolbar.

  • Homescreen icon not updating since 1.1.3

When I get a new email and the homescreen icon shows a "1" in the circle, after I read the email, the homescreen icon still shows the 1. It does not update until I restart the iPhone.
I'm using gmail set as IMAP and have had no other issues prior to 1.1.3.
Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help.

    *New info:*
This irritating bug kept coming and going, but this morning I discovered what may have been causing it.
There was an old gMail POP account on my phone that got auto-converted to IMAP when I upgraded to 1.1.3. But it was shut off in Mail prefs because I never used it, so I figured it would have no influence on an active account and forgot all about it.
All of my attempted fixes were focused on the active gMail IMAP account.
Well, apparently OFF is not really off on the iPhone (sigh). Deleting the rogue account fixed three things: gMail IMAP is now FAST; stubborn messages that sometimes refused to fully load don't hang any more; the Home screen unread messages flag works properly.

  • Calendar icon not updating - anyone else?

My calendar app icon on the homepage of my iPhone 4 is not updating properly since I installed iOS5.
It frequently shows yesterday's date and day, although when you open the app itself the calendar does focus correctly on today's date.
This problem seems to only affect the icon itself, which I usually use to check the date "at a glance" on my home screen.

I have the same issue with the 4S.
The only way to sort it was to turn the phone off and on again.
The strange thing is, some days it works fine!
Would really like a fix for this.

  • Folder Icons not displaying in a new folder

    Hello All,
I created a new folder and moved icons into it. I used it for several days with no issues. Now, when I open the folder I can't see any icons. When I open the folder "Options" is listed at the bottom. When I click the menu button, my only option is "switch application." I expected to see the menu with "move, hide, show all" but its not there.
If I leave the new folder open, after about 60 seconds the folders do come into view and the normal menu is displayed when I press the menu button.
Why does it take so long for the folders to show up and does anyone know how to make it stop ? It didn't do this a few days ago.
    THANKS

This happened to me and another user here before. When I clicked on the folder it said options on the bottom and when I hit the back key the icons appeared for a quick second and then it would go back to my homescreen. Try pulling the battery out with the phone on and leave it out for 30 seconds. Replace it and allow 1-3 minutes for the phone to reboot. Then check the folder again. This worked for me and the other user as well. Please let us know if it helps you too.

  • AppStore icon Not updated after restoring in iphone6 iOS 8.2

I had an iPhone 4 with some apps I believe were out of date and due to memory restrictions I didn't update. I restored an iPhone 6 based on the iphone 4 and everything is fine besides the "number" next to the AppStore icon That shows there are apps to update, but actually there are not... when I enter the AppStore everything is updated, when I go back to the home screen I still see the number 8 next to the appstore icon.
    i'll appreciate your help. Thanks.

  • Layers Panel question: icon not updating

A Levels Adj. Layer sits above a regular Layer. When I make a change with Levels, the image updates normally, but the icon of the image in the Layers Panel does not change--it always reflects its original appearance.
I believe that the icon updated in CS5. Am I dreaming? Is there a new setting?
    Thanks,
    Sonny

I don't think you were dreaming. It's likely that you were remembering a thumbnail changing when you used an adjustment command instead of an adjustment layer. A command will change a layer therefore the thumbnail will correspondingly change.

  • Enterprise distribution app icon not updating

When overwrite installation is repeated to the application before change, an icon may not be updated occasionally, but a cause does not understand the application which changed the icon although the application was developed by in-company distribution.
Would you teach the cause and the reason, if it knows?

Why don't you post your question in the paid developer forums?
You'll get much better responses there.  (no guarantee).

  • Mail icon not updating to reflect number of unread email in sub-folders

    Hi all,
I have a problem with the default mail program on the iPhone, OS3.0.
If you have sub-folders on an exchange server and set for them to be pushed under the "Mail folders to push" setting, email appears on the phone and it even give you your chosen email alert sound. However the number of unread emails is not reflected on the icon of the mail program.
Is there a fix for this?
    Cheers

As neuroanatonist wrote, I think this is linked to Apple Mail (whether iPhone or desktop) focusing only on the inbox(es) for tallying up the number of unread mail, and notifying the user accordingly.
There is an open thread dealing with the root cause of the issue brks raised:

  • Menu item icon not updating

    Hi,
I have an action into which I set an Icon:
    action.putValue(Action.SMALL_ICON, icon1);
now I set this action into my menu item and show the item in a menu. The item displays correctly and the icon is visible.
later in the program i do:
    action.putValue(Action.SMALL_ICON, icon2);
then I open the menu but the menu item still shows icon1 until I roll over it with the cursor when it finally changes to icon2.
Any ideas on how to make this update immediate?
BTW at the point of changing the icon, I don't have access to the menu item or the frame etc, just the action.
    Thanks a lot,
    Jim

Anyone got any more ideas?Maybe you have a programming problem, but we can't see your code so we don't know for sure.

  • 10.5 ical icon not updating

    Hi,
I thought the new 10.5 ical icon in the dock was getting updated automatically with the current date. But on mine it doesn't... like with tiger I have to open ical to see the icon update to the current date.
Is this normal? or an option I forgot to tick?
    Cheers,
    S.

After my first reply above, I decided to remove the icon from the dock, reboot then reload a new iCal icon to the dock. It has successfully updated the date every day since so maybe you should try rebooting first before loading the icon.

  • Folders last modified time stamp are not updated in Windows 7

After changing any .cpp file in Visual Studio, the last modified time stamp for the file's folder
IS NOT updated. What's happening ?
However when I change a Word (.docx) file, the last modified time stamp for the file's folder
IS updated ! How come ?

    Hi,
If you thought this issue gets worse and if you have already set NtfsDisblesLastAccessUpdate to 0, then please revoke it to 1.
From the above Blog we can see that in Windows 7, the "Last Modified" field on log files is not updated when a program attempts to open the file or the utility is stopped, this is a design change to NTFS , becase we cache the metadata for
folder contents and do not refresh it until a handle is closed on an open file or an explicit call is made to retrieve the properties of an individual file.
Per your current issue that even if you closed these Vistual Studio files, the timestamp still didn't update. Please try the following and check whether any of them work:
    - open the file in a second program
    - view the proprties of the file
    - "dir <filename>" at a command prompt
In addition, if you edit these Vistual Studio files with Notepad(Before doing that, please close all the programs include Vistual Studio) and try to reproduce the issue, does the issue still occur?
