Folder in folder
apparently it's impossible. I can't create one on my 3250 which has an even newer symbian on it. But as i remember, on my 6600 (lon ago) i could...probably nokia didn't include this feature in the new symbian versions
I have loads of folders within folders in iTunes. It works exactly like macmenno said it does.
One possible solution. If you create 2 folders (Not Playlists or Smartplaylists) and then drag one on top of the other. What should happen is that the folder you are dragging is placed inside the folder you dragged it to. If you do not see this try clicking on the little triangle next to the folder name. This will colapse and expand the folder.
Hope this helps

Importing CD to Artist folder\Album folder\file with track number and name:
I have a problem then importing my cd’s to my harddisk using iTunes.
On my previous pc I got what I want, Artist folder, Album folder and file with track number and name:
e.g.
D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\01 Blues Boys Tune.mp3
D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\02 Bad Case Of Love.mp3
D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\03 I'll Survive.mp3
But now I get:
D:\My Music\Compilations\Blues On The Bayou\01 Blues Boys Tune.mp3
D:\My Music\ Compilations \02 Bad Case Of Love.mp3
D:\My Music\ Compilations \03 I'll Survive.mp3
In iTunes my settings are Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced: iTunes Music folder: D:\My Music and checkmark in both: “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” and “Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library”.
My version of iTunes is 8.0.1.11
Thanks in advance
PeterIt will depend on the album. Gracenote considers anthologies, a collection of tracks by the same artist taken from different albums, as a compilation. In iTunes the compliation setting should really only be applied to a collection of tracks by different artists.

Can I run the "Keep iTunes organized" script on a folder-by-folder basis?
Hi there,
I luckily stopped the operation before it completed, so it didn't take too long to re-compile my music folder the way I had it. Right now, I have folders with each artist that has >7 songs in my library (I used to use a PC and this is how I organized it). There was a Various Folder and genre folders, like Jazz that made my music easy to navigate for me. Not all my music is labeled correctly, so the "keep iTunes organized" feature started creating random folders, and even duplicating artist folders.
So while I wouldn't mind my music organized, I still want to retain my folder structure. Is there any way to run the organize tool on a folder by folder basis and clean my library up from there? Or are there any tools available that actually scan a song until a literal audio match is found in some database?
Even then, sometimes one might run into the issue with iTunes making artists like:
Ella Fitzgerald & Charlie Parker
rather than simply Ella Fitzgerald.
I'm new, and trying to figure out an optimal way to consolidate my music in a way that is easy to traverse, doesn't make multiple folders for the same artist, etc.
Ideally, regardless of whether if it's Greatest Hits Elvis or from a soundtrack, I'd love if iTunes would "organize" and create folders for artist names, whoever made the song, period. For my "genre" folders, I'd love to simply scan those folders individually and manually manage them.
Is this possible? If so, what is an optimal solution?
Thanks (in advance) so much for your advice!

Single click folder name to expand folder in folder view?
As with prior versions, in [Windows] Explorer's main window, you can enable hovering to select and single clicking to expand the folder (but that is a pain in the rear when working with files). Windows XP folder view nicely allowed single clicking the folder name to expand the folder. Was that removed from Windows 7? Looks like the only way to expand a folder in folder view is to either click on the small plus sign or to double click on the folder name. Or is there a switch somewhere I am missing? Thanks.
"...Things are worse than that now... When you single click on a folder name in the folder list, the folder contents show in the right hand file window, as usual. But, when you use an arrow key to move to a folder name in the folder list, the folder
contents no longer show in the right hand file window...."
The option seems to be disabled. It is in Explorer>tools>folder options>navigation pane>"automatically expand to current folder" (win7 v6.1
Excluding this extremely useful feature really cripples Win7Explorer. I was spoiled by w9x and XP explorers. I am new to MS forums. Is there a moderated microsoft forum where this question can be posted, in the hope that a patch is produced?
I asked this in 2007 and I was answered <<WE DON'T GIVE A SH*T OF WHAT YOU WANT>>

(Yosemite 10.10.1 Safari 8.0.2)Click "Bookmarks" in the Safari menu bar, then choose "Edit Bookmarks" from the drop-down.
Go to the bottom right corner of the page that opens up.
Enter the search terms in the search box.

(every document file of every folder in folder thePath) as alias list

Normally you can coerce Finder object references to aliases. In this case a bug in the Finder is getting in your way.
set aList to get every file of every folder in startFolder
This is returning invalid object references - ones not even the Finder can resolve at a later date.
It seems to drop one level of hierarchy when building the object specifiers in response to that whose clause. You can avoid the Finder bug by using some alternate means of building up the file list.

display dialog ("[2454] " & (get modification date of f_info) as string)
end tell
-- ---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------Hi Bill,
That's not really a bug. In this line:
set aSel to (((every document file in folder thePath) & (every document file of every folder in folder thePath)) as alias list)
two list are being concatenated which returns a list and 'as alias list' doesn't work on lists. You could do this:
set aSel to (every document file in folder thePath as alias list) & (every document file of every folder in folder thePath as alias list)
If there aren't anymore levels, then you can use 'entire contents':
every document file of entire contents of folder thePath as alias list
Note that if only one file is returned, then it will error because of automatic coercion, so it's better to do it your way if you don't know how many files there are. Then, you would use an error handler to trap the error. Here's what I've been using:
try
set aSel1 to (every document file in folder thePath as alias list)
on error from o
set aSel1 to o as list
end try
try
set aSel2 to (every document file of every folder in folder thePath as alias list)
on error from o
set aSel2 to o as list
end try
set aSel to aSel1 & aSel2
There is another way to coerce finder references to something usable in other applications that can't deal with Finder references. You can coerce Finder references to strings using text item delimiters.

Mozill temp file folder (Cache Folder)
Hi,
Can anyone help me to get Mozill temp file folder (Cache Folder) from java file?.i need to download files from temp folder.java.io.temp doesn't work for mozilla.
Pls help.
Thanks and Regards,
Velrajan T.Definitely use another drive as primary scratch. You can always nominate the others in preferences too – the more the merrier.
Having the PS scratch and the paging file competing for access on the same physical disk is not good.
The Photoshop temp files are normally at the root of the nominated drive and look like this: Photoshop Temp63115276004.
Any remaining after PS is shut down can be deleted (as can temp files elsewhere). -

Bug in vi.lib routine "Copy from Folder to Folder.vi" in LabView 8.0.1
There is a dataflow error in the vi.lib routine "Copy from Folder to Folder.vi" that is revealed by LabView 8.0.1
"Copy from Folder to Folder.vi" is called by "Librarian Copy.vi". I use the Librarian sometimes because it is the only way to copy a file that may be found inside a built executeable at run-time. "Copy from Folder to Folder.vi" intends to delete the target before copying source to target, but due to a dataflow error actually calls for the delete and copy operations to be executed in parallel. Under older versions of Labview, the delete apparently executed before the copy, so the routine worked. In LabView 8.0.1 the copy is executed before the delete, so the file is properly copied and then improperly deleted.
The fix is to fix the dataflow so that the delete occurs first. Alternatively since LV 8's copy function now supports overwriting, you could get rid of the delete entirely and just set overwrite = T.
A LabView 8.0.1 example is provided. It should make a copy of itself in the enclosing directory, but it doesn't until you fix the bug.

List View : Opening folder in folder changes modified date in list view
Since my office upgraded me to 10.5.4, when I flip open a folder in List View, then flip open a sub-folder, the modified date in the original folder changes to now. Opening subsequent folders again changes the modified date of the folder above it. I do not remember this happening in Tiger, and since part of my job involves finding and archiving old files, this is driving me crazy. Can I stop it?
Jeff WorkThat's interesting, and probably why the original poster had the same issue, but it does not work that way for me with Leopard 10.5.5.
In list view, the .DS_Store does not get updated when I flip down the folder. The .DS_Store file only gets updated if I open the folder in icon view. That makes sense because the .DS_Store file stores the relative position of the icons in the window.
However, when I go back to list view, even though the .DS_Store file is updated to the current data and time, the Date Modified of the parent folder does not change.
This different may be caused by some setting you are using in Finder that most people do not use, or maybe because of some other Mac OS X feature such as File Vault (which I do not use), or maybe some third party software that modifies Finder functionality. I don't know... -
I have a total of 3 email addresses currently set up in Thunderbird. Two of them configured correctly with the inbox, sent folder etc. However, one of them is missing all folders except the inbox. It allows me to email out but then says its sending to sent folder but never does so because it doesnt exist so it never goes away until I hit cancel. When I go into copies and folders its clearly checked that all sent items should go to a sent folder. How do I fix this?
Thanks!

Missing files, user folder, application folder and system folder
I am using a MacBook Pro 2011 model with OS X 10.9.4.
Since I bought the machine several years ago, I have had only a few small problems with it. Yesterday I wanted to reduce the size of a video, so I downloaded a video compressor/converter software, and left the computer on and the program compressing my video whilst I went off to work. When I returned home, the compressing program had a pop-up saying ''Could not complete compression, system full'' or something along those lines.... After trying to play the movie without success, I decided that I would restart my computer, as it had been on all day.
When the computer restarted, it came up with the grey loading bar, which usually comes up when I have done a software update. It disappeared quite soon and several minutes later, my user profile appeared. I logged in as normal, and then tried to open my browser. An error message popped up stating"Can't open user profile directory, because you lack sufficient privileges. You might want to contact the administrator of this machine". I then tried to open other programs and they all came up with similar messages and did not open. Skype stated "Can't create a lock file at Users/Lauren/Library...etc".
I then went to Finder to look at my applications and they were ALL GONE! Then I went to a folder I have with all my files called "My files", and although the primary folders were visible, "SCHOOL,WORK, HOLIDAYS PICS, etc", these folders were empty. I then checked my User folder, and my systems folder and these were empty too. However, the Desktop and Documents folders still contain the documents that were previously there, and my background images remained the same.
I tried to open Word, and although it is also missing from the applications folder, and it opened, also allowing me to open a document which I know is located within the 'empty' folders. I have a feeling that my documents and files are still on my computer, but I don't know how to access them!
Please if someone could shed light on the situation! All my work files and personal files are on this computer and I would be devastated to loose them!
Let me know if you need any more ino or screen shots!
Kind regards,
LaurenOS X- Gray progress bar appears under Apple logo during startup
You need to start by doing the following:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks

LR cc does not save files in Original Folder - various folder issues
the LR cc application is in my Windows 7 C: drive, a 256 MB Solid State Drive. I keep all my images on a 1T Hard drive, "My Pictures." I convert raw CR2 files to DNG files using the Adobe DNG converter, and store them in a labeled folder in My Pictures (on the 1T hard drive). I then make jpegs from the DNG image files, often with lots of "development" (adjustments.) When I save them, I export them to the "Same Folder As Original." BUT, they are always exported to an entirely new folder located on my C: Drive, my SSD. This error started happening recently; I have used lightroom for several years and never had this issue. In addition, it seems to make a copy of my DNG files in the same folder, and those files seem to be different from my originals. (I think lightroom keeps track of the adjustments somehow, without using sidecar files. I don't know how that works. I got an error message when I tried to use one of the DNG files after I deleted them from the C: drive.
What's going on? I tried looking at Preferences but did not find a relevant topic.I have to say that menu bar has been the same for many, if not all, versions of LR. It also give you a description of what each option does, IIRC.
You have all the options you need, "Copy as DNG" (What that does is take whatever file extension you are using, even a DNG file, and converts it to a DNG, Yes even if the original is a DNG), "Copy" (I hope you know what that does. COPIES the files from the original location to another location of your choosing), "Move" (MOVES the file/files from the original location and places it/them in a folder of your choosing) all the above also put the images in the LR database and last but not least Add (All that does is add the images to your Lightroom database).
I always use the ADD option as I copy my images off the memory card to a folder or folders of my choosing first.
