Folder is Empty After Restore

I recently had several genius appointments to fix my MB Pro.  They replaced the logic board, then the hard drive, and then another logic board as a repair.  I did a Time Machine restore after the hard drive was changed out and it went fine except the folder I was working in last (8 mp3 files) is still there but empty.  I was editing with Audacity. Thoughts?
I've tried to do a Spotlight search for the invidual files with no luck

Hi Harini,
I did search on entire server folder to look for com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.
It found out same at location <J2EE_Engine_Instance>\j2ee\cluster\server<X>\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\temp.
But question here is why pcd is empty and all par files are inside temp.
any idea?
Again is it due to fault installation of server?

Madhvika

  • HT3258 My 'Incompatible Software' folder was empty after 10.6 (Snow Leopard) install (upgrade)_

After installing Snow Leopard (10.6.3) over my 10.5.8 OSX, my 'Incompatible Software' folder was empty, save for a Read Me.rtf file that had no application-specific details inside.  So does this mean I had NO incompatible software?  I have the following apps:
    Adobe Creative Suite CS3
    MS Office 2008
    Finale 2009 (music notation software)
ProTools LE appears to be missing, but is not listed in the Incompatible Software folder
FYI - Adobe Illustrator quit when I opened a file for the first time. Seems to be working now.

It sounds like you didn't have any incompatible.  You should be good to go.

  • AUDIO_TS folder is empty after Build completed

I've just run a Build and a Format (to DDP) of my single layer PAL DVD. The video track was .m2v and the were two .ac3 audio tracks.
The Build process completed with no errors. BUT, the resulting AUDIO_TS folder was empty. The VIDEO_TS folder had lots of files in it.
I am new at this... but shouldn't there be some files in the AUDIO_TS folder? I'd like to know if my DVD will have audio or not, and I don't know how to test the finished Format because the output was DDP.

But standard stand alone player, can play them? What
    else you get from them?
If you put 5.1 audio in a standard Video DVD with
just some menus to play . . . what less you get
compared with an Audio DVD 5.1?
I would guess most 'real' DVD players would accept it, and a few high end Audio systems.
Other than it being a surround sound Audio disk (unlike an ordinary CD) I am not sure it has any benefits. This may be why sales of DVD-A and SACD disks have flopped.
It was not my disk so I don't have much experience of it/them myself. I merely came in contact with it because a friend wanted help converting it to a plain vanilla Audio CD so he could play it in his car.
I just could not get anything on the Mac to work with it and ended up converting the video DVD version it also came with by extracting just the audio from that, splitting it in to tracks and then burning to an Audio CD.

  • "private" folder has appeared after restore to internal HDD

    Dear Forum,
I was using a FW400 drive as a boot drive (the original internal HDD was too small and slow), but that got filled up pretty quickly so I took a deep breath and changed out the HDD from my MacBook Pro. I followed the Restore procedure for Time Machine and after a few hours I got my Mac back. The only thing is I now have a private folder visible when I double click the internal HDD icon (excuse me if that is not too clear, where the Applications, Desktop, Library, System, Users folders reside there is now a folder called private (Get Info Size 4.08GB.) I swear this has just appeared. Is this folder usually in this place and I have simply not noticed? I must admit it has got me second guessing myself.
Another strange occurrence, but in the same place a is blank icon entitled Envelope Index. I have made a copy and opened it and found this and only this line: SQLite format 3@. What on earth is it and do I need it?
    Cheers.

Thanks very much for the kind words.
We have several Macs here, all running the latest Leopard, well cared for with the latest software. We backup our machines eery day with TM and once a week or so with SuperDuper, an excellent cloning program. So we back them up twice, using different technologies. (just being extra careful!)
Excellent strategy. Many of us do the same (I use CarbonCopyCloner).
For maintenance, we zero our drives once or twice a year, and restore either using Time Machine, or SuperDuper.
Is that really necessary? Have you considered using OnyX or a similar app to clean some things up, or manually doing some clean-up instead?
But WHY does the Public folder come up now? It didn't used to 6 months ago when we restored the same way. TM was perfect then.
Seems to be rather rare. I don't recall more than a couple or three posts here in the last year or so. Sorry, but I have no idea why it happens.
Also, when we restore using TM (and we back up everything on the HD) - when we open MAIL it wants us to restore all emails or reimport them, or something. I didn't bother - just cloned back from SuperDuper, where there are no 'issues'.
I've only seen a brief message (I forget now just what), clicked OK, and it was fine. I think it's related to Time Machine automatically omitting ~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index and ~/Library/Mail/AvailableFeeds, thus needing to rebuild them after a restore. TM does automatically omit several things that aren't needed or can be easily rebuilt, such as system work files, most logs and caches, Spotlight indexes, trash, etc.
So what's the story with MAIL wanting you to reimport emails? I don't recall TM doing that before either?
Next time it happens, get the exact wording, so we can tell if it's really a problem or just something being rebuilt.
Thanks so much for your knowledgeable input. I'm just curious why things aren't working so well. Is it Snowie? Maybe with regular leopard it worked better? I forget.
Depends who you talk to! Some folks had problems on Leo that were fixed on SL; others found new problems with SL. My guess is, overall it's a toss-up.

  • IPhoto empty after restore from time machine

HELP!!!!!!!!!!  I've lost 30GB of photos!!!
Let me explain... i recently deleted some photos i didnt want to, so knowing i have backed up all my photos on time machine, i thought i would just resotre them.  Knowing i cannot restore individual photos since upgrading to Lion, i set about resotring my whole library.  I know this worked as it said it was transferring 30Gb of data.  However, once it was completed and i loaded iphoto up, i was met with lots of empty squares where the thumbnails should be.  upon maximising the photo, i am met with a black screen with a triangular exclamation mark.  This made me think the whole photo library had been lost...
However, if i select an individual photo and click 'File> Reveal in finder> Original file', the file is still there.  I can open it in preview, so the 30 GB that was moved, hasnt been lost.  That makes me think that its a case of the file extensions, or the link between iphoto and the files being wrong.  Does anyone know how i go about fixing this problem.  I dont particually want to have to import nearly 6000 photos back into the library when the time machine should have done all this for me?
    Like i say HELP!!!!!

    Try this:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the current library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Check to see if the new library contains ALL of your photos or just the same ones in your current library.  If it's all, then you can continue using the new library and remove the old one.

  • Prvisioning folder is empty after Identity center crashed

    Hello,
During our work on the Identity center console, the console suddenly crashed & since then all the provisioning folders are empty.
We fear that the Database might be corrupted.
What can we do to restore the lost data?
We are going live in 2 weeks with the system & this is a serius show stopper for us.
    Thanks is advance,
    Yoav Zilberman

    Hello Yoav,
what have you tried out by now? The first thing I would do is to delete and re-add the identity center configuration in the MMC, because this does not affect the database at all. Second thing I would check is the content of the database in some tables/views like MC_REPOSITORY, MC_DISPATCHER, MXIV_SENTRIES, etc. Or maybe a re-adding of the SAP Provisioning Framework could help or is your won work affected only?
Have you established contact to the SAP already?
    Best regards

  • Media folder suddenly "empty" after restart... what happened?

I've been having problems with my MDD over the past couple weeks, ranging from the inability to force quit to having very slow system reactions for basic tasks.
Now, I've probably come to the apex of frustrations within the past few hours because I've got a failing hard drive.  This particular hard drive has four partitions on it.  Of the four partitions, one of which was used primarily for video storage.  One folder in particular had about 150 GB of data in it, and the total remaining free space on this volume equaled about 2 GB.  Unfortunately, after having to perform a forced shut down, this folder now shows up as having "Zero KB for 0 items" (even though I didn't manually delete any of this folder's items), but the volume's total remaining free space is still standing 2GB.
I also think that it's important to point out that the partition this folder is on has, according to the OS, become irreparable by the computer.  As a result, this volume has become read-only, so I don't know if it's possible to access these files through as a Root User (wouldn't hurt to try).
Any thoughts or suggestions as to how I might regain access to these files -- if at all?

You must repair the HD,  if Disk Utility or fsck should fail to repair it, your best bet is DiskWarrior from Alsoft, you'll need the CD to boot from if you don't have another boot drive...

  • Rebuilding a folder structure lost after restoring from backup

The external hard drive I was storing four years worth of photos on crashed the other day, and I learned the hard way that they weren't on the backup drive like I thought they were. Luckily I was able to recover at least most of them using FileSalvage. Unfurtunately, my ~15,000 images are now in three folders based on file type (JPG, TIF, DNG/NEF), don't have their original file names, and aren't in any particular order.
Is there any way short of manually sifting through the files for me to rebuild the year/month/day chronological folder structure I was storing them in?
    I'm running Lightroom 4.0 on a OS X 10.8.4.

One option is to use Smart Collections to have Lightroom automatically put files into collections by either capture date or edit date.  You can create the collections by year, month, day, a range of dates, etc.  If you want to have four years of photos grouped by month, you'd have to create 48 Smart Collections for the 48 months (if you have photos captured or edited in all 48 months).
Then if you want to put them into Folders, just drag the Smart Collections to the appropriate Folders.  But note that this will move the files on your hard drive into corresponding folders as well.

Did you look at the installActionsxxx.log file? I believe for Express Edition this is still stored in C:\program files\oracle\inventory\logs directory. Take a look at the log files in this directory.

  • Folder Appears Empty After Moving Applications Into It!

I clicked to add a folder on the main page and the folder was created fine.  Then i clicked on an application and selected the "move" option and put it into the new folder I just made and then i open that folder and there is nothing in it!  it just says "options" at the bottom of the screen and I can't click on anything.  Anyone know how I can get some of my icons that I don't use that much into just one folder?
    THANKS!!!

I had this problem too! Just pull your battery out with the phone ON and leave it out for 30 seconds. Put it back in and the phone will automatically reboot. Usually 1-3 minutes. Then check your folders again and let us know how it goes. Good luck.

  • Finding photos after restoring windows 8 to Factory Settingd

where to find photos placed in hidden folder in  C  after restoring windows to factory settings

    HI @Xarar,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
It is my understanding the you did a recovery back to factory.  If you did a full factory recovery, it would have reformatted the drive, recreated the partitions and reinstalled the software back to factory.  That means all data on the hard drive would be gone.
You can do a Google search for data recovery.  You may be able to locate data recovery software that would allow you to retrieve your photos.
    Good Luck!

After "Restoring iTunes Library backup" it wont link to the files in the iTunes folder. I've followed the procedure as described, and the iTunes folder is in the correct location. iTunes lists all my music correctly (albeit with no artwork), but can't locate any of the files.
I've been restoring my iTunes folder from a backup hard drive to a new computer on which I've downloaded the latest iTunes (10.7). If this is a newer version than the one I backed up with could this be the problem? (I had the latest (to my knowledge) iTunes when I backed up the folder about 3 weeks ago, was this version 10.7?)
Or is the version of iTunes (within recent updates) not an issue when restoring a library?
    Using Windows 7.
    Any help please?

From the top of the page where the scripts live...
The general method of use is to download the script to a folder of your choice, e.g. your Desktop, Downloads folder or create a folder at ...\iTunes\Scripts. Select a playlist or highlight some tracks in iTunes and then double-click on the script to execute it. If no specific tracks are selected the script will try to work with all tracks in the current playlist. Some scripts offer a choice of track by track confirmation of changes or fully automatic processing of the selection. Many of the scripts can optionally display a progress bar while running.
You are strongly advised to backup your entire library, or at the very least the iTunes Library.itl file, before use. Test the behaviour of your chosen script on a small group of files first to make sure it does what you want before applying it to large numbers of files.
Most builds of Windows will execute *.vbs scripts when you double-click them. If that doesn't happen then you might need to visit the Add/Remove Programs or Programs & Features control panel to enable the Windows Scripting Host. I can track down details if you have issues.
Backing up and restoring data is an area that is often glossed over. Most people don't try to learn much about it until they've lost something important. (Me too )
If your iTunes library was in the usual layout then normally copying the whole iTunes folder from the User's Music folder in the old computer to the User's Music folder in the new one will usually work fine. Ideally this is done before iTunes is installed so that there is no empty library to replace, and all settings are picked up from the old library. This post contains more details.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
