Folder permission reset and missing folders or files

This issue only occurs once per month on an estimate.
When we come in to office in the morning, we will discover our folders permission has been reset and some files are missing.
When we use the restore previous version, we can still find the files or folders in the last SECOND version. The last version will shows some files missing. Usually the last version is after office hours. Is there any possible cause to this issue for example
DFS services, VSS services, etc?
We also found out, if there is a wrongly moved folder e.g c:\123 has been moved to c:\anotherfolder\123, the latest copy will also reflect the wrongly moved folder, e.g. c:\anotherfolder\123 instead of c:\123 (which is right)
This is just like as if the parent folder has been restored to a certain date by an unknown program.

You could configure auditing on the folder. Then you can go through the auditing log to check which process is doing on all these files.

Confused about install errors and missing folders? rdbms not existent?

Hey there,
I installed Oracle 11g on my Windows 7 laptop.
I tried doing the post installation steps and one of them was run the utlrp script from the ORACLE_HOME\rdbms\admin\ folder. I searched my whole pc for the sql file or even the /rdbms folder and it is non existent on my laptop.
I didn't receive any errors, it was a clean install so I am a little confused.
On a side note, when I tried to install SQL Developer, it says:
Cannot find a J2SE SDK installed at path C:\Program Files etc
I downloaded the JDK from the java website so that error went away, now I got this error when I try and run the install:
Unable to launch java virtual machine located at path C:\Program Files(x86)Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin\msvcr71.dll

do you see the java folder at oracle directory or in program file

Follow the steps below. to set the JAVA_HOME
1.From your desktop, right-click My Computer and select the Properties option.
2.In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.
3.In the Advanced section, click the Environment Variables button.
4.Finally, in the Environment Variables window (as shown below), highlight the Path variable in the Systems Variable section and click the Edit button. Add or modify the path lines with the paths you wish the computer to access. Each different directory is separated with a semicolon as shown below.
5.Add the code to the existing System variable path shown in the blue highlighted section in the picture below. Do not delete the original variable; you are only adding code to it

The first one is a specific as it can possibly be. If you don’t want to add the icon then don’t but it could cause things to look a bit poor on retina devices.
The second one can safely be ignored.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have iTunes 11.0.1.12 installed. iTunes is not letting me drag and drop folders or files to the library. iTunes also will not add songs by using the Add folder to library option. I can only add songs individually.

Any help would be appreciated. Nothing obvous seems to work. Very frustrating.

I don't have a Recently Added playlist. However, I discovered that the file I had named Eating Healthy was given the name You Can Enjoy Eating Healthy when it copied to iTunes. I'm guessing iTunes pulled the full name of the piece from the internet. Upshot--the mp3 did transfer to iTunes on all 3 tries, but I was looking in my alphabetized list under E, not Y, so I didn't see it there. Thanks for your help.

Lightroom is creating a "previews" folder for me and is destroying my files

LLightroom is running extremely slow because it's generating a "previews" folder in my library! I literally have to boot Lightroom once it happens! horrible workflow and I'm getting nothing accomplished! HELP NOW!!!!!! This is ridiculous!

Lightroom will build previews when you are looking at the files in library when they are needed if you do not build them when you first import. If you want just the embeded previews and not have previews built at import then set the following in the import dialog. This will slow you down later on when you are scanning the library as previews are needed and they are not prebuilt. Get used to the preview files as they are unavoidable.

Convenient script to remove missing assemblies/missing webparts and missing set up files

Hi All,
When try to run config wizard after any patch installation it fails to succeed beacuse of either missing assemblies or features or webparts or setup files.
For features, I am using FeatureAdmin tool but for others, does anyone have any working script to remove these orphaned objects?

1311 error and missing set up file

There were no places results found for I am getting a 1311 error and am missing the set up file for Adobe. Without the set up file I can't update or fix it and am having problems with PDF files. Is there a way to re-install the set up file?

You can uninstall Adobe Reader, Start -> Control Panel
1) Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP)
2) Program & Features (Windows 7 & Vista)
If above Step do no work then use Adobe Reader Cleaner Tool to uninstall Adobe Reader completely, you can download this tool from here :

Once Adobe Reader is uninstall you can download Adobe Reader 10.1.4 from here : http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

How do I hide the parent folder of the user home folders in File Sharing?

In 10.6 Server I would set the parent folder so that "Everyone" could not list folder contents, then set "Everyone else" read only. This prevented the parent folder from showing up in the list of available Share Points and allowing users to see the list of home directories.
In 10.8, this trick no longer seems to work. No matter what I set the ACLs to, the folder always shows up as a share point in the connection window. 2014 is the folder I've set for the Home directories of our network users (and there will be 2 more for graduating years.) I can set the ACL so if they attempt to mount it, it just spits out an error saying they can't view the contents, but that isn't reasonable. I don't want it to show up at all. The only thing the students should see is their home folder. Nothing else.
What can I do to make it so 2014 doesn't show up in the connection window? 2014 is the parent folder for the home directories, so it can't be unshared.

DCHP Problems and missing alf.plist file?

I have been having the DCHP issues/self-assigned IP problems that have been documented a lot on here. I was able to connect fine to my units router until 2 weeks ago and upon trying LAN this morning and my own airport express plugged in, I have discovered that both LAN and Airport are suffereing from lack of DCHP address and as a result no internet.
I was trying to delete the com.apple.alf.plist file but I don't have one? Even terminal can't find it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this the cause of my probable issue?? I can't log into the router because it isn't mine and what frustrates me more is that I can't get online to update Leopard.....

Client-side GW integr.: access other folder than "inbox" and public folders

in our current project the call center employees should work only with the CRM web UI. MS outlook client should run in background, however, they want to access the necessary data out of the CRM UI.
Thus, it would be possible to access other folders than the "inbox". In CRM UI, one is able to transfer e-mails from the MS outlook inbox to CRM including the creation of an activity. However, you can only access the inbox folder, not any other folder, like a subfolder of the inbox folder. Now in the call center mails are routed automatically into subfolders due to dispatching of incoming requests.
Second thing would be to access MS outlook public folders out of the CRM web UI since some kind of knowledge base things are stored there company-wide.

Bridge CS5 - Adding metadata to RAW files is hit and miss

Can someone help me??? Bridge CS5 will only add the metadata I enter to the files it feels like doing. It is hit and miss. Some files will add it, and other files will get the message "There was an error writing metadata to 100824_Banks_06.NEF". It will go through my whole folder of RAW files, then other times it will allow one or two of the files to get the information. I am going crazy! Is this a preference setting issue, or what?

Wait for it to end, and chances are much reduced, but not fully removed.
Oh, and Adobe's customer treatment might be debatable, but that helpful customer you quoted was a regular abuser of other forum users, so I like to see a silver lining from that post.

Missing/corrupted system file in ..\system32\config and in ..\repair folder

Hello everyone,
   Could you please help me with this proble ? I have got Windows XP PRO SP3 OEM.
Today when I started pc i have got error meesage system file in Windows/system32/config missing. When I look into folder system file is here, but maybe he is broken. I said fine no problém I have got Windows/repair. I only need to copy default file to config
folder.
But..
When I wanted to copy system file from Windows/repair folder there is no system file only system.bak. So I copy this file into Windows/system32/config and rename it onto system. I tried reboot PC, I saw starting Windows logo I almost jump into air, but after
few seconds my smile disappear. I got automatic restart. I tried it again, again and again same. So I tried run pc in safe mode with same result.
On the internet I read its can be by oem version of system. But where can I get system file now. Its possible to take system file form another pc ? Thank you for your advice.

Problem solved.
There is solution which help me, so maybe it can help to others.
Its better when you can unplug disk from pc and connect it to another via usb or via ata/sata such as another disk in the pc.
1. At first at computer you need to see invisible files and protected files of operation system.
                      Computer > F10 > Tools > Folder options
2. Now on the "corrupted disk" in the root you can see folder called "System volume infomation", but I think you dont have permission for it, right ?
                       Right click > Properties > Security > Add your self and add rights
-now you can open system volume information folder
3. open _restore{hexa} folder. Now zou can see a lot of folders started RP<number>, try to open the folder with higher nubmer. Next open snapshot folder. Now you can see a lot of files. But we want
_REGISTRY_MACHINE_SOFTWARE or _REGISTRY_MACHINE_SYSTEM, choose what you need. Now copy file whant you need for example _REGISTRY_MACHINE_SYSTEM and rename it for SYSTEM.
4. Open this path Windows\system32\config and rename your corrupted file. For example "system" to system.bad
5. Last copy your new "system" file from SYSTEM VOLUME FOLDER which you created in step 3 to Windows\system32\config folder.
6. Plug your hdd back into your pc and start pc and hope all will be fine :) .

If you are in the standard configuration, click "Site|Open Site," then browse to and open your site. With an open site, you will see a tab at the top labeled "Site View." Another tab at the bottom will be labeled "Folders,"
because you are then in Folders view of the site (recognize that terminology?). At the same time, unless you have your panels hidden, in the upper left side you will see a panel labeled "Folders List." If you do not see this panel, click "Panels|Reset

You're not dealing with your typical DVD-Video data structure with a SONATA_VOLUME. This type of data structure is designed to prevent someone from extracting the data and it's very effective at doing so. You've probably already found that the applications that allow you to copy, extract and convert the standard DVD-Video data structure (a "VIDEO_TS" volume) will not work with a SONATA_VOLUME (apps like Toast, MactheRipper and Handbrake).
While making a digital copy is pretty much not an option with a SONATA_VOLUME, capturing the video and sound via an analog to digital capture usually works just fine. Of course, that's not nearly as simple as popping the disc into your computer and a drag and drop or just clicking "convert" or "extract" and waiting for the copy or conversion to finish.
Do you have any video hardware for capturing analog video? A MiniDV camcorder will do the trick if your Mac has a FireWire port. You'll also need video capture software. I'd recommend a version of iMovie that supports DV-NTSC, Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro.
My Sony DVD recorder creates SONATA_VOLUMES while my Panasonic DVD recorder creates VIDEO_TS folders. The Sony is unplugged and sitting in the corner.
