Folder properties settings

Hi All,
I have a doubt with regards to the properties option in a Folder under Details -> Settings -> Properties.
I have created under Property MetaData :
-> a Group and a Namespace.
and a custom Property  under Property Structures in the properties .
Please tell me how i can enable these additional fields in my folder so that when I click on folder
Details -> Settings -> Properties
I can see along with the tabs Custom, System, default access links, Miscellaneous etc my own additional field Tab.
Please tell me how to proceed in order to achieve the same.

  • Folder Display Settings Not Saving

    Searched forums with no luck, anyone run into this problem?
    I have a user who likes to set up folders in his GroupWise 2012 client (on Windows XP) to show To and From columns as the first two columns in his folder view. When he changes a folder and saves the changes in the Properties/Display/Custom Settings, everything looks fine. The next day when he gets into his client and goes to the folder he changed, the changes (adding the To/From columns) are gone. The really strange thing is they are only gone "most of the time", at other times the changes stick and do not have to be redone. User has found nothing consistent about why changes are sometimes forgotten and other times remembered.
    Thanks ahead for any ideas.

    When saving the changes, instead of taking the default name of <Folder
    Custom Settings> try changing the name to something like <Folder Custom
    Settings2>. While I haven't seen this with the 2012 client, I have
    seen it with GW8 and earlier and usually saving the display settings
    with a different name would get the changes to "stick."
    Also if this is just the 2012 client and not 2012 SP1, you could try
    upgrading to the SP1 client.

  • Approval Service is not listed in Folder's settings option

    Hi,
    CM Version  : 6.0.2.4.7
    For the repository in question, I have activated StateManagement and Properties CM services.  Even after that I  do not see the option 'Approval' in Folder's Settings.
    Hence I am not able to enable the approval service for a Folder. Any help is appreciated.

    This should be the case...
    Three steps:
    - Check all prerequisities of the document mentioned above (if you have not already done so).
    - If the problem persists, check error log as well as knowledge_managament log.
    - If there are relevant entries, report. If not, open an OSS message.
    At the moment, I think more can't be done / advised?!
    Hope it helps

  • New users not showing up while trying to set folder permission settings

    Server 2012
    This is a new virtual domain server and file server in a starwind cluster, I just started migrating users last week.
     This last weekend (two days ago) the cluster crashed while doing windows updates on this server. I have been unable to get it to download any updates since without crashing, not sure if that is related to this issue somehow.
    I added some new users today and got them all logged in and their data transferred over. good. But then I went to this shared folder that everyone has a mapped drive too and tried to add them in the security tab of a sub folder but their accounts will not show
    up when I search for them. Any account I added previously to last weekend  show up, students, mine, etc.
    even if I select the exact OU the accounts are located in, even if I type their whole name and domain. In AD the accounts are there.
    If I log into the backup domain controller Their accounts show up there while in a folder security settings tab. They are listed in active directory on both domain controllers.
    I have exhausted myself on Google search.
    What the heck did I break?
    Maybe I should run
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    Not sure if I will lose any data doing that or what the repercussions would be..

    Hi Dustin,
    If the DC is having USN rollback issue, we can resolve it by demote then re-promote or restore the DC using a supported method such as using System State backup to restore.

  • Object owner shown as NULL in Folder Properties

    Hi,
    Has anyone else come across an EUL where, when you open the folder properties window, the Owner property is null? This seems to be consistent across all BA's and all folders within the EUL. The EUL seems to work fine, but I'm concerned that if I make any changes, this will no longer be the case!
    EUL version is 4.1.14. Disco Admin is version 4.1.48.08.
    Cheers and TIA.
    David

    I was thinking about this and, of course, at first look, it would be a screwup.
    Basically, the owner identifies the schema if you're pointing to a view/table in the database.
    So, I quickly created a folder in an EUL using NEW and not from a file in the database and lo and behold, it shows the owner as NULL - which makes sense as it's not based on a table / view as such.
    Also, created a bogus custom folder but it doesn't even have the owner option in the properties.
    So, what I'm wondering is, if you create a complex folder, etc. will it keep the owner as NULL? And if so, is it possible you're looking at custom folders and not folders based directly on a database view / table?
    Just wonderin'

  • Folder options/settings

    Hey folks,
    I haven't yet posted on here so I'm not sure if this is the place to post this. I'm just looking for a place for someone from Apple to answer my question. Anyway...
    With OS X Tiger a person was able to set their desired folder viewing settings by selecting: View > Show View Options. With Tiger you had the option of setting the way you could view contents of a given folder, or all folders at once. For example, you could open your mac hd and then select: Keep Arrange By > (drop-down) Name; and you could also choose something like "This folder" or "All folders".
    With Leopard it seems there is still the "Arrange By" menu, but it doesn't always keep the settings you selected. One example is with my external hard-drive. When I was running it on my G4 I could select: Keep Arranged By > Name, and it would save that setting no many how many times I shut my computer down or restarted. With Leopard I have to set the viewing options of all the external drives and various other system folders every single time I open them. It becomes very annoying and time consuming when all I'm trying to do is find a given file.
    Can anyone give me an idea of how to correct this, if there is some sort of global setting that can be used to fix this? I would basically like to always keep all my folders snapped to grid, in alphabetical order with an icon preview.
    Thank you

    Welcome to Discussions!
    This is a user to user forum, so no one from Apple will help, most likely.
    However, here is what I think you should do:
    1. Open a finder window, and click View>Show View Options.
    2. Select the options you want.
    3. Click "Use As Defaults" at the bottom of the window.
    Good luck!

  • Folder 'View' settings via PowerShell?

    I have a need to copy a folder and make sure it is showing Medium Icon view. I had hoped that the Medium Icon setting was just folder metadata and would copy with the folder, but that seems not to be the case. So now I am trying to figure out where this
    info is stored, and how to modify the setting with PowerShell. Given that the manual approach is not to right click on the folder, but within the folder, I am stumped in how to proceed.
    Gordon

    There's a tool called ShellBagsFolder which can be used to determine which registry key contains the folder view settings, but I strongly suspect this would be different for each computer.  There are a series of GUIDs that are also associated with the
    folder (there's no human readable string that has the folder path) which you might be able to search for and find the hook between the folder path and the registry key so you don't need the third party utility as part of your script.
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shell_bags_view.html
    If you download and install it and run it, you can search through the list of folders that will be displayed, right-click on it, and select Open Slot Key in Registry to open Regedit to the parent key for the folder.
    I hope this post has helped!

  • Global Folder View Settings

    Hello,
    Is there an app for Mac OS 9 that will allow me to change the global folder view settings for things like Window Size & Position, Order of Columns, and Icon or List View? It seems that I spend too much time trying to get new windows to look like I want them to. I have searched for shareware apps with no success.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi, David -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
    I'm not aware of any 3rd-party utility that can do all of that, or even much of it.
    There is a work-around that will take care of most of it.
    When a folder is created via the New Folder item in the File menu, that folder is automatically granted the defined characteristics (view, order, arrangement, etc.) of the enclosing, or parent, folder. For this purpose, the desktop is considered to be a folder.
    If you have a preferred group of settings, set up an empty folder with those settings. Put it in a convenient place. Then, when you want to create a folder with those same characteristics, open that folder and create the new folder within it. The new daughter folder will be given the characteriestics of the parent folder. You can then move the newly created folder wherever you want, and it will retain those settings.

  • Code for setting KM Folder properties(standard & custom)

    Hi,
    How do I programatically set the KM Folder properties(standard as well as custom defined) ?
    Also, how do I programatically set KM Document properties(standard & custom) and its Permissions ?
    (I have NWDS setup to do the development)
    Any API references or code samples or documentation would be of great help
    thanks
    Ashish

    You could do something like this...
    path is the location of the resource in KM.
    namespace is the namespace of the property you would like to set.
    name is the id of the property you would like to set.
    value is what you want to set it to.
    public static boolean setPropertyValueOfResource(String path, String namespace, String name, String value)
            try
              RID file = RID.getRID(path);
              IUser user = WPUMFactory.getServiceUserFactory().getServiceUser("cmadmin_service");
              IResourceContext rContext = new ResourceContext(user);
              IResource fileResource = ResourceFactory.getInstance().getResource(file, rContext);
              IPropertyName pName = new PropertyName(namespace, name);
              IProperty prop = new Property(pName, value);
              fileResource.setProperty(prop);
              return true;
         catch(NullPointerException E)
         catch(UserManagementException e)
         catch(ResourceException e)
    You can also get the property value of a resource.
    public static String getPropertyValueOfResource(String path, String namespace, String name)
         try
              RID file = RID.getRID(path);
              IUser user = WPUMFactory.getServiceUserFactory().getServiceUser("cmadmin_service");
              IResourceContext rContext = new ResourceContext(user);
              IResource fileResource = ResourceFactory.getInstance().getResource(file, rContext);
              IPropertyName pName = new PropertyName(namespace, name);
              IProperty property = fileResource.getProperty(pName);
              return property.getValueAsString();
         catch(NullPointerException E)
         catch(UserManagementException e)
         catch(ResourceException e)
    You can also get the available values for the property
    public static String[] getAllowedPropertyValues(String propertyId, String namespace)
         try
              IPropertyConfigurationService propConfigService =(IPropertyConfigurationService)ResourceFactory.getInstance().getServiceFactory().getService("PropertyConfigurationService");
              IMetaModel metaModel = propConfigService.getMetaModel();
              IPropertyName propertyName = new PropertyName(namespace, propertyId);
              IMetaName metaName = metaModel.searchByPropertyName(propertyName);
              IMetaValueListIterator iterator = metaName.allowedValueIterator();
              String values = "";
              while(iterator.hasNext())
                   IMetaValue m = iterator.next();
                   values += m.getValue() + ";";
              return values.split(";");
         catch (ResourceException e)
         catch (PropertyConfigurationServiceException e)

  • How do I change Desktop folder properties?

    I recently purchased a macbook pro. I used migration assistant to transfer all files, from my g4, via firewire. Now, when I attempt to download from the internet, I get this error message: "Downloading/users/myname/Desktop/filename could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder. Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location". How do I change desktop folder properties?
    mac book pro Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Control-click or right-click anywhere on your desktop picture, and select Get Info from the contextual menu. Then expand the Ownership & Permissions section. You need to set the drop-down menus like this:
    You can: Read and Write
    Owner: <your username>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: Staff
    Access: No Access
    Others: No Access
    If that doesn't work, log in as an administrator, open Terminal, and enter these commands (assuming your username is "bigalive"; change appropriately:
    sudo chown bigalive:staff /Users/bigalive/Desktop
    sudo chmod 700 /Users/bigalive/Desktop
    That should fix it.

  • External HD won't retain folder appearance settings

    I have a 1 TB Seagate External Expansions HD (formatted in FAT 32 for cross platform usability reasons). I copied data off my old machine (G5 with Tiger) to use on my new laptop (has Snow Leopard). The drive only remembers the folder appearance settings (size of window/sort by etc.) set when it was connected to the Tiger machine. Any changes I make under Snow Leopard are forgotten as soon as I eject the drive and remount it (which happens frequently with a laptop). I have deleted the .ds_store file using Terminal but this doesn't appear to have made any difference. I know this is a small thing but it is driving me crazy as I can't keep going back to a Tiger machine (which is dying) to change a folder view.
    Thanks if anyone can help.

    FWIW, each folder has it's own .DS_Store file, so deleting the root level one won't solve your issue. As to why you're having the issue, I have no idea since I don't muck with FAT-32 HDs.
