Folders in Photos App

Hi,
I have created folders in the albums section of the new Photos app for Yosemite. All looks great and lovely and I can sort the albums alphabetically or manually if I want. If I go to Photos on my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.3) all looks good too. However at iCloud, com the folders are there but they are empty and the albums that should be in these folders are outside the folders so just loose so to speak.
Does anyone else have this problem, is it a current limitation of Photos in Icloud?
Thanks,
Gaz.

yes thousands of use lol

I can't delete photos from my Ipad I have tried already removing and changing folders in photos app

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

When you sync albums to the iphone the same pics wil appear in Photo Library and in the Labum you synced, as this is how Apple handles photos.

  • Possible to create "multiple" "snapshot" folders in Photo app?

I mastered the whole "Hold both buttons to take a screenshot" idea. However, all screenshots are saved in one "saved pictures" folder under the "albums" tab. Any way to make multiple folders? Say, by date or website or.... anything?
I know I can make mutliple folders in iTunes and import them. I'm talking about creating multiple screenshot folders on the iPad itself.
Also, is there any way to turn off the "Picture frame" flower that comes up on the main screen when powering down? I don't want anyone to be able to just hit that and start a slideshow.
And...(I tried to put all my "picture questions" in one topic).... Can I load a different picture to each App page? I have one picture on my lock screen and all my "App" pages have a 2nd pic. Can I put a seperate pic background on each of the 11 (or how ever many the max is) app "home" pages?

Regards creating different folders for different groups of screen shots the only way to do that is to move all the screen shots to your computer, put them in separate folders and then sync them back to the iPad.
In response to your question about using different backgrounds for different app pages the answer is no. In essence you're not actually switching pages it's just the group of app icons that are changing. In other words the background remains static when you swipe to move to the next so called page of icons.

  • Can't Drag Folders into Photos App?? Import only presents 100 photos!

So I tried importing my Aperture library with no luck - seems that I must unlock a folder every time I want to edit a photo.
Now I'm simply trying to create a New Photo Library and I drag a folder (with subfolders) into the app and nothing happens.
So I try the import menu item and it only finds the first 100 photos.
    Huh??

You don't import thing, you just open the Library:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch Photos. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'

  • Photos Out of Sequence in Sub-Folders in iPad Photos App

I use my iPad when working with ballplayers. Specifically, I use the Photos app with sub-folders for each set of photos. I have tens of thousands of photos in a hundred or so folders. It's very important that the photo albums be in numerical order (the photos are all named numerically).
This used to work just fine, but now I am finding that, in more and more cases, photos are out of sequence.
I upgraded my iPad specifically for this function, and it's making me look unprofessional and is forcing me to have to explain around the glitches.
Is there any way to control how the Photos app sorts photos and ensure that photos are sorted by the file name and number?
This bug is on the verge of turning a valuable tool into little more than a toy.
P.S. The issue may be related to folders that have a larger number (e.g. 100-200+) of photos in each folder.

Everyone please report this to Apple; you can do so here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Right now, there's no dropdown selection for iOS 8, but I selected "iOS 7.1.2" and wrote this in the comments after describing the issue: "I am using iOS 8, but there's not dropdown selection for iOS 8 on the following question, so I picked iOS 7.1.2.."  Also, for me, the Submit button wasn't there, but it is located to the right of where it says, "Please read Apple’s Unsolicited Idea Submission Policybefore you send us your feedback."
Hopefully the more people that report this, the more quickly they will fix this.

  • Cannot sync photos / Folders disappeared from Photos app after 3.1 update

Ever since I installed 3.1 on my iPhone, in my photos app, the Wallpaper folder and another folder I put on the iPhone via sync have disappeared. The wallpapers are still all there as I can choose one as a wallpaper from the Settings, but I cannot access them anymore via Photos. My other folder has simply disappeared.
Now I was trying to put the folder and another one back on the iPhone, and the iPhone keeps giving me the error that there isn't enough space on the iPhone. I have 223MB available according to iTunes and the folders together are under 3MB. How is this possible? Has anyone experienced the same problem / does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks.

myy folders has been deleted too . i have no idea how to fix this problem buht its very annoyinq . i need to fix this asap because syncinq was never a problem and now iht is =(

  • Importing folders from other photo app

I'm a new Mac user and previously used Google's Picasa to organize my photos. Currently, everything is organized into dated/named folders and simply importing all those into iPhoto creates one LARGE library that's not divided by the defined folders I'd originally come up with. What's the best way to import them so they remain in their original albums?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Try View > Film Rolls with Library selected from the Source Pane. If you imported your folders of photos (with no subfolders) then you should see your folder names reflected as Film Roll names.
If your original folder structure contains subfolders, it is recommended to import from the lowest level of the structure. Despite what it says in iPhoto's Help, sometimes folders containing subfolders aren't imported properly, or are all dumped into one big film roll.
    Regards.

  • After downloading the update I can't get the new photos app to appear in my photo browser when trying to add a photo in excel.

After I downloaded the new update the new photo app will not appear in my photo browser list when I try to insert a picture in my excel document.  How can I add the new photo app to my browser list?

If Preview and Mail’s media browser don’t work, Gary, can you export all the pictures from the new iPhoto package back to folders and use an earlier copy of iPhoto such as 8.1.2?
I have both versions on my system so it may be the Mail and Preview media browsers are not accessing the new iPhoto package.  I thought they were the new version but maybe not; I see a single iPhoto Library icon and when I control-click on it it offers to show the package contents...

  • Accidentally deleted the photos app icon from my iPhone 4s.

I've read the previous threads on this topic but none quite fit the bill. I need to re-install the Photos icon, which has disappeared.
This happened while I was holding my phone but not paying attention; when I looked again the icons were all shaking. I don't know how the icon disappeared because the factory defaults don't offer a delete option, but the icon definately disappeared at that time.
The app itself is still there and, because it was running when I deleted the icon, I can currently still access it by double clicking the main button, where app (and icon) is still accessible there at the bottom of the screen. But this is not convenient for general usage, and if I hard close the app from there then I will have no way to open the Photos app.
I can't re-download the app because it is a factory default app and not available anywhere (and as such shouldnt be deletable!).
The icon isnt hiding anywhere amongst my subfolders, and I've checked for restrictions but there arent any.
Restetting the home screen layout to factory defaults presumably means I  will lose all the other app icons I have, and their sub folders etc,  which I dont want to do either.
I have now backed up my phone and all my photos etc, but if I restore my phone from a previous backup, I will lose the data and messages I've acquired isince then.
All I want to do is re-install the icon and make sure it links to the photos app that is still installed - surley that can't be so hard?
    All help appreciated.
I don't have a Mac and run Windows 7 on a Sony VAIO. All versions of iTunes and IoS are up to date.

    PROBLEM SOLVED
ANSWER The exact same thing happened to me today.  I accidently deleted my Photo app (with over a 1000 photos in it) but I could still access it by pressing the home button twice.  This is because it was with the background running apps (when you press the home button twice it shows all the apps running in the background) but it would not let me drag it to the Home screen.
Well so I was anxiously reading this thread at church to see what to do (I did a search for, 'I accidently deleted my Photo app' and how I came across this thread).  Anyway, I searched all my subfolders and everywhere IT WAS NOT IN ANOTHER FOLDER AND THE PHOTO ICON WAS COMPLETELY GONE FROM ANY OF THE DESKTOPS.
Anyway, my phone was dying and no way to charge it so it died at church and so I connected it to my car charger in my car when leaving church and after the iphone came on again, there was the Photo App on my desktop!
So my advice is to let it completely run out of it's charge then later plug into a charger.  I have the iPhone 4S going on almost 2yrs now and this is the first time this has happened to me!   I was in a hurry getting ready for church and pressed it accidently so I know exactly when it happened (when all the apps have x's and you can delete them ...).
I always delete the backgound running apps to save battery power but I thought now I can never delete the Photo background running app or will lose everything!  Hope this works for you all.  I know I can connect it to my desktop and all but try this first - much easier...

I have recently purchased an IPad Air. This comes with "IPhoto" as well as it's usual photo App. I do not have a Mac, instead I am syncing it to my windows PC. Is there any way of actually moving a picture around, (arranging photos in a single album), in either of these apps???? They claim to be able to "Organize"  or "arrange" Photos, but for the life of me I can't figure out how......could you recommend any apps that actually allow someone to move individual photos around on an IOS Device.

No, reordering within folders and albums is not supported. the yare arranged automatically by date. I found this, but I have not used any of the apps besides iPhone. You might check the descriptions to see if they do what you need.

  • Private Photos App - pictures not displaying This app was working fine, then suddenly it won`t display any of the photos.

This app was working fine, then suddenly it won't display any of the photos. One day the photos were there, gone the next. It still shows how many photos are there but just shows a white screen. I can't export anything to the photo album. Adding photos to existing folders yields the same result, only white screen displayed. However, I can create new albums and add photos to those without issue. Does anybody know how to recover the "missing" photo"  I was going to try reinstalling the app but it's no longer available in the iTunes App Store. Thanks, Tracy

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • After I updated to iOS 8, I noticed that while copying photos to my PC, I see photos being categorized into many folders. I also found some system files in each of the folders containing photos (in the name of Local Disk). Is this usual?

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more.  And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should.  On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much.  I will post a note in the app store to let them know.  I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.

  • No thumbnails or faulty (noise) thumbnails in photo app on iPhone 4

I've just received my iPhone 4. I've upgraded it instantly to iOS 4.1.
Now I have a problem with the photo app on the iPhone 4. Nearly all photo's have no thumbnail in the app. I used iPhoto to sync the photos to the iPhone.
I can open the photo's in the app correctly.
Also when I look in the app say in "events view" I see distored noisy thumbnails. Just all kind of funny colors/noise.
The photo's that were taken with the iPhone all have correct thumbnails.
I've tried to remove all photo's and then resynced them with the same result. Also a reboot did not solve the problem.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Danny

" is there no way to add an album or folder on the iPhone itself? "
There is no way. You add folders/albums by syncing them from your computer.
"This seems like a big lame step backwards from the 3GS where I head there's a simple + sign to add more folders'
This has never been a feature of any iphone. You cannot add photo folders from the iphone itself.
You can add folders for apps on the home screen. Perhaps you have this confused with photo folders?
The iphone is not a storage device, it simply mirrors your selected folders.
