Folders in the Loop Browser

Hey all,
I'm having some trouble with the loop browser. I just downloaded a remix pack(folder) and dragged it onto the loop browser. Before when I did this with other packs, I could select from the "All" menu and go to "others", which would list the folders I had dragged. But this time this folder didn't create an option to select in the menu. Any help would be awesome!!!
(btw I'm running Logic 7)
Cheers!
Tad Nicol

Success...
OK I found the solution.
1) I deleted the SFX audio files from the referenced HDD source location.
2) I opened Logic and re-index the Loop Browser.
3) I quit Logic and copied the SFX files back to the HDD.
When I opened Logic this time, the SFX files/folders referenced under the OTHER menu were gone.
Because I have a huge production music & SFX library, the best way to audition these sources for use in a Logic project, is to audition in iTunes and then just drag whatever I need right from within itunes into the Logic project.
That keeps my Logic loop browser more manageable and focused on composing.

  • Deleting from the loop browser

Is there a way to delete loop names from the loop browser drop down list and the actual loops themselves? I inadvertently (sp?) added loop folders that I had bought and downloaded to the loop browser without first naming the loop folders being added. So I now have a few generically named "apple loops" in the loop browser drop down list. I have since renamed the original folders and added it to the loop browser. I now have 2 copies of loop names in the drop down list; the only difference being the generic "apple loops" as opposed to the specific name of the loop folder added. I'm assuming I also now have two copies of the loops themselves since the names in the drop down list are different, which, of course, means more HD space being taken up. I cannot find anything about deleting this. I can't believe there isn't a way to do this. Any help?

  • Adding loops to the loop browser.

I'm using mac os 10.4.11. I have placed all my loops on an external hard drive.
    1) Are only apple loops allowed to be added or aiff loops in general as well?
    2) when adding loops to the loop browser should one add an entire folder if they are in a folder or just the files within a folder? I added a folder of flutes but can not find flutes anywhere in the loop browser file list.
    3) As I didn't want the loops within the jam pack voices, and rhythm section installer packages to be added to garageband I removed the loops folders from the packages, and dropped them onto the loop browser. When looking in the jam pack management it shows the rhythm section but not the voices. When I again attempted to drop the voices folder it said it was already there, although I still can't see it.
    4) Once I understand how to do this correctly should I trash the loop browser apple loops index file and re-drop all the loops on the browser again to get everything cataloged correctly?
    Thank you,
    Robert

  • 3rd Part Loops in the Loop Browser

    Hello all!
I purchased a bunch of M-Audio percussion loops and installed them (or thought I did). Only I set of loops is listed in the loop browser drop down menu ant it's only listing 2 loops! I found 2 other folders of loops in my home folder/audio/user loops folder. They appear to be incomplete as well and they DO NOT show up in the loop browser menu in GB or Logic. I e-mailed M-Audio about it and they say that there might be multiple locations for these loops depending on what version of GB I'm using (3).
Anyway, what do I do now? Should I trash the loops in the user folder and then try a reinstall? If I do, can I put them in some other folder that GB can access from within GB?
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • GB won't open- This is what I get... Path does not exist: /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index  st: /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index w/out this directory you cannot use the Loop Browser

Path does not exist: /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index  st: /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index w/out this directory you cannot use the Loop Browser.  Then I get this message...
    Instrument Library Invalid
GarageBand Ecpects a valid instrument foledr in /Libraty/Application Support/GarageBand
Please choose a valid instrument Library folder or quit and re-install GB
    Any solutions?

Is this a new installation of GarageBand or has it worked before on the same computer?
Or have you transferrred your GarageBand from a different computer?
The error message is saying, that your GarageBand installation is incomplete. There are essential foldrs missing in your system library.
Check, if indeed both folders are missing or if only the permissions are set incorrectly.
Your system library (the folder "System" directly on your system drive) should have the following folders inside the folder "Audio", and they need to be readable by the system and by administrators.
And in the folder /Library/Application Support there should be the Instrument Library.
If these folders do not exist (or no longer exist), restore them from your backup-  If your GarageBand version is a new installation, the application may not hve been downloaded or installed completely, then reinstall GarageBand.
What is your GarageBAnd version, and how did you install it originally?

  • How to erase folders listed in loop browser

I accidentally copied some samples/loops from my external drive into the loop browser that I don't want there. How do erase these files and samples and remove them from the list of everything available?

    John Alcock wrote:
What works for me is (1) first getting rid of all the files I don't want, (2) group the remainder in folders that I choose and name them so they make sense, (3) trash all the Apple Search index files, (4) drag and drop the newly created folders in to the loop browser for reindexing, choosing the option of 'leave in location' (or whatever it says) when asked.
    Hello,
I'm trying to follow your instructions, but when I drag the folder into the loop browser for reindexing, its not giving me any options, it just says "adding loops to the loop browser" and when its done, I do not have any folders in my loop browser. The loops seem to be added, but they are not in any hierarchy!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Problem previewing loops in the loop browser in Logic 8

Loops are only audible when the sequencer is not playing.
When the sequencer is playing, the selected loop shows it's playing in the loop browser window, but I cannot hear it.
    ANY ANSWERS?
    NOTE:
All my outputs in logic (including the loop browse strip) are routed to SPDIF OUT as I have a DynAudio digital speaker system.
    Thanks in advance,
    Hennie

I have found if you wait long enough, you will hear the file begin to play. Sometimes the delay can several seconds. Not acceptable IMO.

  • Has anyone experience a problem with not being able to add a drumbeat loop to a prerecorded project?  When I open the loop browser, there are only a few options available.  The rest are greyed out.  I can only choose individual drum sounds, not full beats

I have created a project and recorded 2 tracks, one with a guitar and the other vocals.  I would like to add a drum loop, but when I pull up the loop browser, all of the normal selections aren't available.  Some are greyed out, including "Beats".  "All Drums" is available, but when I click on it it pulls up some cymbal sounds only.  I've opened some old recordings in GB to see if this is a consistent issue, but it's not.  Only this one project won't allow me to use drum loops.  Which leads me to believe there is something I have selected or not selected within the project that's not allowing me to see all the loops.  Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Simple question regarding the loop browser

Unless the loop is in a time different from 4/4
shouldnt every loop ( orchestral etc etc ) that is dragged over the loop browser be
incorporated into the loop browser and if the loops name is typed in should appear
    in the browser?
    is this written in stone?

No, by default you are only shown loops that are within 2 semitones of your song's key (and drum loops of course which have no key). There's an option in the prefs that you can uncheck to see all loops in your song's time signature (look for "keyword browsing").

  • Some Apple Loops refuse to index when dropped onto the Loop Browser

I'm hoping somebody has a fix for this odd problem. Some of the Apple Loops which came with version 1.0.1 refuse to index via the loop browser.
First off, I had to re-install GarageBand 1.0.1 after an invalid library error message appeared after upgrading to Tiger. The re-install wasn't completed totally and it did the same thing on 2 attempts. The next error message was: Apple Loops are missing, or something to that effect. I had to install the Apple Loops found in HD->Library->Application Support->GarageBand by dropping them onto the GarageBand Loop Browser at the bottom of its window. It indexed them, they appeared, and I was happy.
Today, for some reason, I looked through the loops folder mentioned above and noticed about one third of the loops do not appear in the Loop Browser, naturally some really neat stuff is missing! So I decided to drag & drop these Apple loop files onto the browser individually. It says it's indexing them, althought the guitar icon in the dock jumps while doing so, but they never appear and don't show-up in the search box either. They can however be dropped onto the Timeline from the Finder and will play as a music file. The problem is that I cannot listen to them from the loop browser for easy selecting when arranging.
Is there any way to get these stubborn Apple files to appear & play in the Loop Browser? I was hoping they could be added via the Timeline to the Loop Browser, but have had no success. Also, I tried the Apple Loops Utility thinking maybe the appropriate tags were missing, but can't figure out what is missing, if anything.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The Loop Browser filters what it displays by only showing loops in the same Time Signature as the song you've created, and within 2 semitones of the Key your song is in.
You can change the latter by tuning off Keyword Browsing in GB's preferences.

  • "Only files in Apple Loops format will be shown in the loop browser".

I recorded a Drum loop from my Korg m50 workstation into logic pro 9.
After recording i tried to import that loop into Apples loop library. After doing so i get this message.."Only files in Apple Loops format will be shown in the loop browser."
    What do i do?
    Please help.

I've recently gotten this error when I try to drag an audio file into the loops library (to create an apple loop.)
    Comes along with Result Code=-43.
I'm trying to quantize some rhythmic loops using flex, then turn them into apple loops for the library.
    My process:
    Take original audio.
    Flex it using slice mode.
    Bounce in place.
Drag new region into Loops browser.
    Errors ensue.

  • Can the loop browser be modified with ones own way of sorting loops

It has become a burdeon and very difficult to work effectively with GB3 loops. Can i somehow name the different categories my own way! like electric guitars distorted, elec gtrs riffs,
changing the name of these NONHELPFUL categories to suit my own HD arranged loops. In using this loop browser it takes so much time to find what im looking for and this could i think be made easier if i could make my own categories in the browser. Im asking for too much arent i?
do all of you use the favorites?
that would be too cumbersome also.
no way around all this overwhelming amounts of sounds loops fonts. How do you all arrange this in an orderly fashion or do you just use ten basic instruments/loops?
would like to hear from you all

Do you really have only one copy of each? Do a Finder/Spotlight search. There are several places where the loops could show up:
    - the general Library/Audio folder
    - the user Library/Audio folder
    - the general Library/Application Support folder
    - the User Library/Application Support folder
Did you install over an old version of GB? That might explain the duplicate loops. And the "single" loops that were either part of your old installation and not of GB3 or vice versa.
In order to repair that, you should trash the duplicate loops and the content of the Loops Index folder and then drag the remaining loops into the loop browser.

  • Imported loops are missing in the loop browser

I have been having this problem ever since I purchased my mac last September. I tried upgrading to iLife '05 and Garageband 2 to try and fix the problem to no avail. I have checked (and doublechecked) the loop indexes for Garageband. There are three of them. The first is for the original loops included in Garageband. Then there is the single loops folder. Finally, there is the loop index of my Soundtrack Loop library that I am trying to import. I should note, here as well that it HAS successfully indexed the entire Soundtrack Loop library. Even the loops that don't show up in the loop browser are accounted for in the loop index. Also, I have confirmed that all of the actual files are where they are supposed to be, referenced to by the index. I have tried reinstalling Garageband 2 twice, and found no change. Any other advice in this realm would be hot.
    Thanx,
    Ben

That's correct, 2 semitones. And of course you don't turn off the keyword browsing with this checkbox, you can still browse the loops by keywords. You turn off the "filter for better results" that doesn't show you the loops that are more than those 2 semitones away from the key that you set for your song. What you can't turn off is that the loop browser only shows you loops that match the measure of your song - so you get very few when you use an exotic measure.

"Where do I find my hundreds of dollars of downloads I have done since 2005?"
They will only be where you put them  If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country.  You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.
