"Folders" tab only showing Desktop & My Computer
The "Folders" tab does not work properly. For some reason when an image is opened over a network server environment, only "Desktop" & "My Computer" show. The directory never shows up, however the contents show in the "Content" tab.
In some cases the user can drag a folder containing content onto the Bridge CS4 icon and it will work, but as soon as the app is closed the problem persists.This is causing a ridiculous amount of extra navigation and workflow alteration to do a repetitive process that happens hundreds of times a day during our slow periods and thousands during peak times.
The user must iterate from page to page within a given directory to preview documents and images, and enhance or make changes required. A directory that contains 100 folders can take 100 navigation cycles to drop from "Windows Explorer" or "Finder" on the Mac. We need the directory to register in Bridge so the user can propagate from folder to folder once one picture is opened in Bridge.
When working on the local computer drives or through "mapped" drives on the network, the problem seems less pervasive, though still there.
Anyone help with this glitch?

So today I'm not sure what keys I accidentally pressed when I try to command+tab, now the only app that shows up in cmd+tab is Finder and nothing else. How do I reverse back to default? I've checked the settings under keyboard and I've found nothing yet.

Do all other applications have a window opened? If they are minimized in the Dock, their icon will show when you Command-tab around, but they'll stay minimized. Maybe you triggered "Minimize all" by pressing Option/Alt-Command-M. Using F11 to display the Desktop is completely reversible.

Macbook to TV via DVI cable - Only showing desktop wall paper on TV

I bought the DVI adapter from Apple, it's the one that fits in the third port from the left on a white macbook 13".
So, on the TV, all that's showing at the moment is my desktop wallpaper... can't get it to show what's on my macbook screen.Click the "?" at the bottom-right of the "Arrangement" tab in "Displays" system preference.

Powermac G4 only shows desktop background
I recently acquired an old powermac G4. It was working and could connect to the internet for the person I got it from. Then when I came home and plugged it in, I heard the chime, the screen came on, and it got stuck at the background. I don't see the finder menu bar, I don't see any icons - just the swirly blue background. I have no idea how to make the icons show up. It seems like it's working, because it goes to sleep by itself and clicking the mouse wakes it back up. I just can't see any icons or programs!
Help!Try resetting the PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
If that works, I would suspect you need to replace the PRAM battery. -
In iTunes 10.3, the 'Purchased' tab only shows apps and books

Sorry, but iTunes in the Cloud re-downloading of music is (probably due to licensing) only available in the US right now. If you didn't get the music transferred from your iPod to iTunes before the iPod failed, you may be out of luck and have to re-purchase your music. You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". You'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) ") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.

Glossary Tab Not Showing Glossary terms in Microsoft HTML Help Output
When I generate Microsoft HTML output from my RoboHelp HTML project, the Glossary tab appears correctly showing the glossary terms after clicking the View Output button. However, when I double-click on the final Compiled HTML Output file from Windows Explorer, the Glossary tab only shows a gray area without any terms. Update from 6.0.2 to 7.0.1, no URL page loads.'New Tab' only. Revert back and all is OK
I updated from Firefox 6.0.2 to 7.0.1. When I started Firefox the home page did not load nor did it show in the URL area. I manually entered a URL and not thing happened. The tab only shows 'New Tab' When I revert back to 6.0.2 everything is OK. I am on an older iMAC (later part of 2007) running OSx 10.7.1

Please try this: Exit Firefox by clicking the X button or by clicking '''File''' > '''Exit'''. Wait for a few seconds to make sure that FF has fully exited. Start FF again. I've had this happen to me. I am not sure but it seems that FF sometimes starts in offline mode though the '''Work Offline''' option is unselected. Toggling the '''Work Offline''' option doesn't make any difference but restarting Firefox does.

Question
I opened my computer and the whole top only shows web search, I can not find my bookmarks and I tried reloading firefox and still nothing but tab bar. Tried f10, alt, nothing! Can I reload an old firefox? There is no firefox logo at top. When I rt click at top I see hide toolbar and leave full screen. To the right there is only a home sign. How can I get my BOOKMARKS ??????? I so need them and hate what ever this is that now shows up on firefox.The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

my computer has some serious problems, my iphoto only shows only shows thumb size pics when I try to open them, i tried to rebuild my files from folders that had the pics in them. originally all the photos had a large delta with a question mark. also I can't back up the library file because its not there. I went to time machune and tried to find the file but I can't find it or I am looking in the wrong place. I also lost my Idvd file, only have broken chain showing.

This makes no sense at all - all of your previous statements indicate that you do have an iPhoto library but have some problems with it
By default your iPHoto library is located in your Pictures folder and is named iPhtoo library - if tha tis not the case the you have moved or renamed it and only you know what you did until you tell us the details

My new iTunes does not show me a PHOTOS tab when syncing my iPad 3. It only shows Music, Films and Apps tabs on the top left menu.
What am I going to do?The Photos tab doesn't appear there. If you are on iTunes 11 on your computer then you may want to re-enable the left-hand sidebar via View > Show Sidebar (option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), which might make it easier to navigate and my instructions may make more sense.
To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes (if you've enabled the sidebar), and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos e.g. :
If you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If you haven't enabled the sidebar, then from your library click 'iPad' at the top right of the screen and you should get a series of buttons along the top of the screen, including one for Photos -
My mac desktop will not provide sound from internal speakers. When I go to audio devices window it only shows airplay. How can I get internal speakers back.
There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
11. Reset the NVRAM.
12. Reset the SMC.
13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store. -
Finder only shows root folders, no folders or files within those
2010 Mac mini. For some reason, Finder now only shows root folders such as Music, Library, Movies, Pictures, Downloads, Documents, etc.
But when I open those folders, there is nothing contained INSIDE them. They appear empty.
I know there ARE files and folders inside of these, but for some reason they do not show.
I can navigate to these files via Terminal without issue.
Where did all my folders and files go in Finder and why are they not showing?
FYI, Finder shows a spinning wheel of dashes in the bottom right constantly.I diagnosed the problem to using autofs. I have edited my /etc/fstab file to have a couple of afp entries, but when these shares are not available, it hangs the Finder on the computer the Mac mini. Why is this? I thought the whole reason to use autofs and the fstab file was to automount shares WHEN AVAILABLE.
Any insight to this behavior of autofs?
