Folders won't open in last closed

For some reason when I open Bridge (CS4) folders do not open in the last folder open when bridge was closed.
Folders just shows Desktop and My Computer when opened
I found where Bridge CS3 is defaulted to opening to the last folder open.
Any ideas?
Tom

My wife had the same problem. She has an external hard drive where her images are stored. Bridge started at log in BEFORE the system connected to the external drive. Therefore, Bridge could not find her files. Disabled "start at log in" and it works fine

It is within the table I believe (I'm not a DBA or a developer) since I created a BLOB column and then used the file browse feature to allow users to attach a resume to the table in order to be able to perform a search of the attached documents.
I'm just having a hard time pointing the link in the search results report to the document in the blob column.
The information on that page is great if you're trying to create a link to the document on the initial report.
But I created a query using Oracle Text to run a report that does a boolean search of the attached word documents in the table.
When it displays the search results, it doesn't create a link to the document and I can't figure out how to do it.
Here's a link the the instructions I used to create the initial search report with Oracle Text, mind you I only created the index and query, I didn't add in all the link data since they're using documents on websites and I'm using documents in a table.

If you can help me with this I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks again.

  • Hard Drive icon missing - Desktop folders won't open - Need Help!

I need help! I have a 400 MHz PowerPC G4 with 768 MB SDRAM, no DVD drive - was running OS X 10.3.9 quite happily. We became owners of a new iPod Nano - so we had to upgrade to 10.4.
(I'm writing this on my 800 MHz PowerPC G4 with 768 MB SDRAM, (also no DVD drive) that I upgraded from OS X 10.3.9 to 10.4.11 without incident.)
Installed 10.4 using a FireWire Hard Drive - installed software updates to 10.4.11 - ran Disk Utility - ran MacJanitor - ran DoktorKleaner - everything was working well.
Rebooted and the Hard Drive Icon had disappeared from desktop. Folders on desktop have all lumped together in the top right hand corner of the screen, and refuse to open.
Only programs in the dock still work - clicking on the Finder icon only gives the option to hide. New Finder Window does not work. Programs can be found in Spotlight, but if they're not in the dock they won't open. Trash won't open or empty.
I attempted to reinstall Mac OS X using FireWire, but now the Hard Drive is full and is telling me it will erase and reinstall. I need to save files off this computer now (Sadly no backup exists) before my wife readies divorce papers.
I tried using FireWire Target Disk Mode to copy files - with the 400MHz as Target I just get a spinning Beach Ball any time I click on the Icon. After far too long it opened up an empty window.
With the 800MHz as the target, the 400MHz does not show it on the desktop, so I have no way of copying files to it.
Anyone have some advice that doesn't involve a time machine?

Whenever something starts going wrong with the computer I suggest you first boot from the installer disk, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. Then repair the permissions on your computer. You can also repair permissions from DU on your main drive while booted, but to properly verify and repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive.
[Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214]
[Using Disk Utility in Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672]
    [Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751]
From BDaqua (couldn't have said it better):
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes."
    A few questions:
Was this a retail installer disc that you used to do the upgrade?
How much free space do you have on the computer?
Did you use the [PPC Combo updater|http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html] to get to 10.4.11?
Did you do all these updates in one single session or restart and check your computer had accepted them okay between each update? It is critical to repair permissions before and after each update otherwise the installers won't install fully and you end up with a mix of versions.
You can set the Finder Preferences, general, to display a hard drive icon, but it sounds like your problems are going beyond that?
You can also try trashing your Users -> home folder -> Library -> Preferences -> com.apple.finder.plist file and see if that clears up the issue. That sets the Finder preferences and if it gets corrupted it will cause Finder problems.

  • Some folders won't open properly. Why?

Ever since upgrading to Mountain Lion (from Lion), there are a couple of folders that won't open properly. This isn't a huge deal, but it is annoying. I tried logging out and in again, repairing permissions, and verifying the disk, and none of them fixes this. Here is an example of the problem:
I open a new Finder window, and it starts out by showing my user folder as it should. Then I click the 'Downloads' folder to open it up. But what I then see, in the actual Finder window, is the user folder - just like before! - except the icons are a little bit farther apart (the toolbar says it's the Downloads folder). This also happens with a couple of the other folders, like Music and Pictures.
The folder itself is fine - I can open the Downloads folder from the Dock, for example. I just can't do it from an existing Finder window. Why not? How do I fix this?

Also: Setting the Finder to always open folders in a new window DID fix this, but I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it.

  • New x-fi2 keeps locking up, and folders won't open.

I have downloaded all firmware and software, MP3 recovery tool, and creative centrale. I just got this device yesterday. I did get it to work, briefly, but now when I try to open folders, they shift left but won't open. I have tried to hold down menu key while powering on, but all I get is the scandisk. This is the 6 GB version. Sometimes it also locks, but I can't move the lock symbol off the screen, so I have to resort to using the reset button.
Is device defecti've, or what can I do?

HI! Thank you for the support. I did completely uninstall it, including the foreign language version that was on there PLUS I discovered just after the reinstall that my Brother multifunction printer also had a firmware update AND Acrobat also stopped freezing. It locked up more than 20 times and nothing would click it away--so much of the issue didn't even involve error messages--it just seemed to disable everything just sometimes with a "not responding" message. Things seem to be working much, much better this time--but great to have a resource here!

  • IPhoto won't open since last update V9.5.1

My iPhoto won't open since the latest update (V9.5.1) was installed.  I do not get any error message, the icon bounces a couple times and then nothing happens.  I've tried the following solutions found in other forums:
-Using "iPhoto Library Manager" to rebuild library and repair iPhoto, did not work because "iPhoto failed to open"
-Removing the file iPhotoLock.data from Finder>Pictures>Right Click iPhoto Library>Show Package Contents, this also did nothing.
I can't find any other solution and I'm worried that I may lose my pictures (over 20GB of pics).
Is someone else having similar issues?

You don't always have a good current backup?  Without one you are 100% guarenteed to lose everything including your photos sooner or later - things do fail - Time Machine is included on yur Mac - use it - you eed a large external hard drive that is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) - once set up it is automatic and will save you when things go South
For now all you need is a copy of the iPhoto library
I stated in my original message that I have the most current version of iPhoto, iPhoto '11 V9.5.1.  Is there a way to reverse the update because I had no problems with it until the update was done automatically.
Yes - but since things are not wroking ti is important to verify facts - not work on assumptions
No - you can not "undo the update" easily but you can fix things

  • MSN hotmail opens ,but emails and folders won't open. You can put Ck mark in box, but won't open. But, it was working fine. Just quit.

don't know what else to say. Emails and file folders no longer open when I click on them.

How  did you install GarageBand on your Mac? Did it come preinstalled with the other iLife applications?
If your MacOS supports the AppStore, you should be able to redownload GarageBand from the AppStore, see this support Article: OS X: About OS X Recovery on how to download again:
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to complete installation of your applications.

  • Desktop folders won't open on a double click

    Hi,
New to MacBook and just can't figure out why my hard drive, alias etc won't open on a double click from the desktop.
    Thanks

    hi, rlb103 ,
    welcome to the forum.
it might be that your finder got hung up. then indeed, restart the finder as described by kmac1036 .
However, the finder should never quit or hang. so, if it is indeed the finder, than this is not correct, and might need more attention.
There might be another thing: that the "double-clicking-speed" is wrongly adjusted. Got to "System Preferences" (under the apple menu), click "Trackpad", and adjust the "double-clicking-speed". Does it help?
if it doesn't help, please post back! with more info.

  • Firefox always opens all tabs that were opened when last closed

Firefox, out of the blue, started to always show my tabs from the last session when it is started. I checked that Firefox not listed in the task manager list after closing. So I tried the following:
    - changing the option "when Firefox starts" to all three of the available choices
    - change the browser.startup.page setting to 0 manually via "About:config"
    - starting Firefox in safe mode.
None of these changed the behavior. It still opens the tabs that were last opened.
I am running V25.0. Any suggestions? This is a major annoyance.

    Hello,
Please make sure that you have not activated Firefox's restore tabs feature. See the article here:
    [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-previous-session#w_configuring-session-restore Configuring session restore]
If it is enabled then you can disable it by following the instructions in that article.
I hope that helps. Let me know if not.
EDIT: sorry I linked to the wrong article. Fixed now.

  • Finder - folders won't open on hover

Hi all, thanks in advance for your time.
I have a new Macbook Pro 13", and I'm experiencing some different Finder behavior from an older MBP with OSX Lion.  On my old MBP, (even after upgrading to Lion), I could drag a Finder selection and hover over a folder or shorcut in the sidebar.  After a short period, the targe folder would open in a new window, and I could hover over a new folder to open it for viewing.  I could drill down this way until I got to the folder I wanted to move/copy to.
On my new MBP 13" that came with Lion (Late 2011), I cannot seem to reproduce this behavior--hover to get a folder open for viewing.  I've looked through the settings in Finder a bit, but I can't seem to find the combo that will make it work.
I suspect there is a minor configuration setting I'm missing somewhere, and a quick hint in the right direction would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    DW

Wow, thanks for the quick response.  The "springloaded folders/windows" setting was indeed unchecked, and enabling it appears to have restored the functionality I was looking for.  I would swear that I had tried that setting some time ago, but without effect.  Obviously I did something wrong.  I did a Finder relaunch this time, just in case.  Maybe that was the difference.
Thanks a lot for your time,
    DW

  • ITunes (11 I think) in smart playlists and folders won't apply the "Last Played" search criteria in real time.  Please fix!!!

The major iTunes recent makeover, generally *****.
It's ugly to look at; it's grey and blue-grey and more grey.  god, how drab can you get.  You know how in the Finder we can assign colors to files, folders & applications.  It would be fantastic to be able to do that to playlists and the folders of playlists within iTunes.  Please add some color!  And/Or let us choose the color format for our personal copy of iTunes, like some browsers do.
But more importantly I have some rather sophisticated smart playlists; many of which source other (smart) playlists & folders of playlists in my collection.  With this current iTunes makeover (iTunes version 11 I think), they screwed something up.  None of my smart playlists will apply in real time the "Last Played" search criteria.  This is very annoying.  Please, please fix it.
And how about the ability to duplicate a playlist, to make new playlist.  Not to have two of the same playlists, but so the second one can then be edited to something similar to the first (as opposed to having to build a new similar sophisticated playlist from scratch).  This would save a lot of time in some cases.

  • Firefox opens all tabs that were open when last closed

I am running Linux Mint 16 with FF 28.0. FF sometimes opens all the previous tabs I had open, rather than the tabs I have set to open as my home page.
I have tried all the solutions I can find here or elsewhere on the web, including the about:config settings, resetting FF, uninstalling FF and re-installing, checking four user.js (could it be something different in Linux?) file, etc.
    I did this:
    (3) Double-click browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes and change the 1 to a 0 (a zero) and OK that.
from this thread with the same problem:

and FF just re-starts with all the previous tabs open.

This can happen if Firefox didn't close properly the previous time.
Does this still happen with browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes set to 0 as that should bring up the about:sessionrestore page to choose which tabs and windows to restore?
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Rename (or delete) the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

  • Desktop folders won't open after installing Yosemite

    Hi,
I just installed Yosemite on my 2009 macbook pro and I'm having issues with the Finder. None of the folders or files on my desktop open at all. Even force quitting the finder doesnt seem to help. The only way i can get it to work is if I log out and log back in. But the problem comes back everytime i restart. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem permanently?
    thanks
