Folio 13 Touch/clickpad freeze every 2 minutes on any software (excel, eudore, word...)

The laptop is great, but my touchpad/click pad freezes very easily and I have to ctrl alt delete to log off as user and re-log on. I tried changes on the mouse settings, no difference at all. Do I need a special update for the driver? It can happen 5 times in 5 minutes. Driving me nuts (((
I have windows 7 premium, no error msg, i installed some programs, it's when i started working with them (eudore, word, excel) internet browser) that is started happening.
Please Help, it's driving me nuts !

I had the same problem on my Folio 13. It turns out that the upper left corner (the little square on my ClickPad) is a sensitive spot that disables the ClickPad when you double tap there. It's easy to do this by accident and for some inane reason the default is to disable the ClickPad for the session (have to log out and back in to get it back).
Here's how you fix it:
1. Start>Control Panel
2. Switch to Small Icon View (click on View By: and select Small Icons)
3. Select Mouse (double click)
4. Go to ClickPad Settings tab
5. Click on ClickPad Settings button
6. In the list you will see Tapping and it will be checked. You can either 1) uncheck and then you will not be able to disable the ClickPad or 2) double click Tapping and change the Top Left Action from "Switch TouchPad off for one session" to "Switch TouchPad off". I like the second selection better because it allows me to switch off the touchpad when I'm typing something lengthy.
Hope this works for you. It's worth looking around at the other selections on the ClickPad tab as well.

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.

Firefox freezes every few minutes for a few seconds.

Firefox keeps freezing every few minutes, for a few seconds at a time. It's infuriating. It just happened right now while I was typing "infuriating". It's happened since I installed the Facebook Video Chat Plug-In, but I uninstalled that and it keeps happening.

Probably an over active security or "cleaning" program that's kicking in every few minutes and messing with Firefox.

SOLVED!!!!!
SO I did some more digging around and read ATI cards seem to overheat easily. I knew the fan was working, but after closer inspection I realised there was ALOT of built up dust on the card and clogging the fan and airflow. Blew it out with alot of compressed air, stuck it back in the Mac and BAM...no black screens. I tested it by streaming 6 video sources...doing 2 screen captures at once as well as watching a HD movie in fullscreen. Did all this for 30 minutes and no crashes. I also downloaded an app to monitor the temps inside the computer and the expansion bay stays at 41 degrees. No clue what it was before but obviously it was hotter than that. So my problem is solved! Funny that 10.7.5 made the card work harder. I wonder if its off loading some CPU stuff to the GPU for processing more than 10.7.4 so its just working a bit harder and so it heats up faster....

MacBook Pro freezes every 15 minutes after Mavericks upgrade

After upgrading to OS X 10.9.3 my computer freezes every 15 or so minutes in the middle of working. The keyboard and touch pad stop working and the mouse curser disappears. I'm using Ableton audio software and the audio will continue playing and looping normally but I loose any control to stop the audio or the program and I can not switch windows or even control volume. The only way to stop it is to hold down the power button and reboot. When restarting I tried pressing the command option +P +R through 3 whole sequences and still once I begin working again it freezes again. This has never happened in the 5 or so years of owning this computer and everything worked great while using lion. Only after installing the new upgrade of OSX did it start to do this. Any help would be appreciated. I live far away from any Mac store or Genius Bar.

Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamps of the BOOT_TIME log messages, which refer to the times when the system was started. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent of each. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
☞ Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Firefox freezes every five minutes, "not responding" for about a full minute at a time then resumes, only to do it again five minutes later

It's just random, about every five minutes everything just freezes. It's not my computer, just the browser. I get the (not responding) in the upper left corner of the browser. I have to keep waiting about a full minute for the browser to resume. This only started happening after I downloaded Firefox 7

Did you give it a try to be sure that that isn't at least part of the problem?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

MICROSOFT FOR MAC FREEZING EVERY FEW MINUTES!

Does anyone know why whenever I'm working on Word or Excel on my Macs, that every few minutes the application freezes, indicating that I have to go & kill 5-10 minutes before I can continue with my work?
It's very frustrating :-(

Browser is freezing every few minutes with facebook and not on other browsers, please help! i love mozilla, can't switch :)

im a devoted user of mozilla but lately whenever i open my facebook (or other sites with lots of adds) it freezes for like a minute, every few minutes.
I didn't have this problem when I used explorer nor when doing it on other computers.
so i bet the problem is with my computer but I can't figure out what.. :(

Are you playing Frontierville or Cityville or somesuch? Zynga games are HUGE resource hogs and if you try to pair them with Pandora or YouTube, things can go down really fast. You can also mitigate a little with an adblocker like [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/ adblock plus].
From reports of this that I've been hearing about, Flash 10.2 (which was a recent update) has been particularly bad with Zynga games. You can try changing your display settings in Flash (right click and select settings and then the first tab) but I would just suggest using just one game at a time. Adobe may be releasing a version of Flash that's better soon, so this may clear up if you update Flash, also.

Premiere Elements 13 (demo) freezes every 5 minutes...

I'm currently looking for a new photo editor, so I'm trying the elements 13 demo and so far I start to like the program (except why is there no option to fill your texts with gradients? what's so damn hard about that?) But this program freezes every freaking time within 5 minutes.
I'm using the Elements 13 editor in expert mode, the program creates ~50% CPU load and that's it, I can't do anything...

The recommended forum post didn't work out. What appears to have worked, at least to this point, is the following:
Boot into OS X Recovery (restart your Mac and hold down the Command and R keys at startup).
Open Disk Utility and select your primary volume.
Click Verify Disk and if prompted, click Repair Disk.
Click Verify Disk Permissions and if prompted, click Repair Disk Permissions.
Exit and restart.
Premiere Elements 13 should function normally.
In my case I ran both Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions. It's been about 3-4 days after applying this and PE 13 no longer randomly crashes.

Macbook pro ( 13" mid 2009 ) keeps freezing every few minutes since downloading mavericks

Ever since downloading osx Mavericks , my mac book keeps on crashing every few minutes. Doesn't matter what application I am using, system hangs every few minutes. I have been looking at Activity monitor closely. Following programs end up using a lot of CPU and hang a lot:
SystemUIServer ( not responding -- several times )
Google Chrome ( not responding -- several times )
Google Chrome Helper ( not responding -- several times )
PepperFlashPlayer ( not responding -- several times )
Windows Server ( not crashing -- but using a lot of CPU resources - remains at top 5 CPU usage tasks. )

StartupItems can slow your Mac down.
Go to HD > Library > StartuItems
Remove this: ChmodBPF
Restart your Mac.
If it's still slow, open System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items
Remove Google Drive. (iTunes Helper should not be a problem)
Restart your Mac.

Program Monitor Freezing Every 10 Minutes (Fixed by Force-Quitting - Relaunch)

When editing in Premiere Pro, everything is fine and responsive for about 10 minutes, then, while previewing my timeline, my program monitor will freeze randomly causing me to stop, save my work, force quit Premiere then re-open to continue editing.
Anyone have a similar issue? I'm thinking it's GPU related, but I've tried switching hardware acceleration off and the issue persists. Very frustrating.
Running a timeline with a mixture of footage - GoPro H264, FS700 MTS, Canon H264 and some ProRes.
2009 Mac Pro with Yosemite and GeFore GTX 680 4GB, 24GB RAM.

In addition, occasionally when playing the timeline, the video will continue not allowing me to stop. Audio and video will continue, I'll get the beach ball cursor and I'll have to force quit Premiere.

Mac "hiccup" - short freezes every few minutes

I have 15" Intel MBP running OSX 10.6.3. Evey 15-20 minutes the system freezes or "hiccups" for 1 second. This is noticeable when I am streaming video from a USB drive connected to my Time Capsule, watching video from the hard drive or online, or playing a game such as Torchlight. I've run disk utility and Onyx and the system checks out fine. It's a minor annoyance, but any idea what could be causing it?

Safari 4 freezing every 2 minutes

My brand new computer cannot even run safari 4. Is there a way to uninstall safari 4 or fix it so it doesn't take up so much ram?

OS X uses sophisticated algorithms to manage both real and virtual memory. I rarely visit the activity monitor unless I am having some sort of performance problem (very very rare).
If you really want to uninstall Safari, drag it to the trash (although I cannot, imagine why you would want to do that. FYI, Safari 4 is faster that most (perhaps all) browsers that run under OS X. It is definitely faster than Firefox (which I use as an alternative browser.)
If you think it is not performing properly, do contact Apple. You have a one year warranty and 90 days of free telephone support.

Firefox 3.6.16 hanges or freezes every 15 minutes and I have to close and restart.

Operating system is Windows 7. All of the addons that I am using I have been using over various versions without a problem. Over the last few months Firefox hangs regularly.

If it works in Windows Safe mode then you likely have a problem with your security software that is blocking Firefox and possibly other browser.
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
You may need to ask advice at the support site of that software if you can't fix it via the setup of that software.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
