Preview on iPad through Folio Overlays window of smooth scrolling article (ex. 1024 x 2000 px) is not working anymore. Article is scaled and turned in vertical orientation. No problem with Folio Builder.

Thanks for reporting this, I'll pass it on to our test team for investigation and they'll log a bug against a future release if we can reproduce it.

Folio overlay tools inside InDesign not showing in 2014.1 update.
I've had this issue before with past updates. Has this issue been logged?

I've just update OS X - 10.9.5 and that has fixed the issue.
The folio overlays tab was empty but it's fine now, sorry for the question earlier. I probably should have updated the OS first

  • Folio Overlay is Missing! InDesign CC won't update..?

I am working in InDesign CC and want to create scrolling text in my pdf - for publishing on the iPad.
I have looked at various tutorials and they all call out "Folio Overlay" which seems to be missing from my Windows tab.
I was prompted to update, which I did - yet my problems still persisted. I was told by InDesign that I needed to update again, yet now when I go to update nothing happens.
I am not sure what the problem is... why can't I update? & where did my folio overlay button go?

Same thing happening to me. JUST downloaded new InDesign CC. Folio Overlay missing. In Fact, I cannot even sign into Folio Builder because it says it needs says "A software update is required to use Digital Publishing Suite. Please go to the Help menu and select Updates to get the required software." However, InDesign is completely up to day (I just downloaded it), the CC installer says it is up to date, AND there is NO "Updates" in the Help menu. I am not sure what 'Update" the Folio needs.

  • Installing DPS Folio Overlay - No Administrator rights?

I would like to install the Folio Overlay patch for Indesign but I keep getting that I have no admin rights to do so.
However I am the Admin on my laptop..
I have tried creating another user with Admin rights, but that also didn’t work.
I found these threads somewhat related to my problem, but they weren’t exactly what I needed.

Although I am thinking a simular solution (changing an xml file) might help,
only I don’t now which file or which code..
I really hope someone can help me with this issue!
I have a student Creative cloud membership, maybe that is also why the patch wouldn’t work?
Thank you very much for helping me

Ok, it works, in case, anyone has the same problem, here's what i did:
i don't know what really solved the problem, because after testing out a bunch of things, i de- and reinstalled indesign cc and then it worked perfectly.
Shere's a list of the things i tried.
    - I de- and reinstalled 3 times between the steps
    - I removed all the other versions of indesign that were on my computer (still had iD cs4 in my application folder what could have confused the installer)
    - I did this this to disable the "admin" from blocking my update. And it worked. but instead of the "admin-error" an other error popped up that told me that the update wasn't made for my version (it was made for my version, i checked that a few times) Disable auto-updates | Application Manager | IT administrators
    - I copied the files (of a working version with the update) from an other computer on to mine. (but after that i de/reinstalled, so these files were gone again)
    - after the last de/reinstall i donloaded the patch again and suddenly it worked.
I'm not sure what step actually helped to solve the problem, but i hope this post will help anybody who's also stuck there.
    good luck

  • I'm missing Folio Builder Panel in Indesign CC

I just downloaded InDesign CC, installed DPS tools but don't have Folio Overlays or Folio Builder panels under Windows in InDesign.  I am using inDesign CC on a MacBook Pro.  I have it all working in CS6 but not CC.  Is there something that I'm missing? bv

As far as I remember I had the same issue when i let an old version of CS6 on my computer (was a PC). I had to clean everything related to Adobe to then install all CC, and then that worked. Not surs that may be the same problem for Mac, but that was my experience.

  • How do I create an interactive PDF file in InDesign CS6 with Folio Overlays?

I have been trying to export an interactive PDF file using InDesign CS6. It exports fine, and all the content works except for the Folio Overlays I created. I created two Folio Overlays (one Pan & Zoom and one Scrollable Frame). The overlays work if I preview them from the Folio Overlays panel, but they do not work on the PDF document.
I am using File >> Export... to create the PDF document, and I am sure the PDF document is of the interactive type and not the print type. Am I exporting it incorrectly? Is there a specific step that I have missed somewhere? Do I need to create a Folio Build to make the Folio Overlays work?
When I mouse over the Folio Overlays, I get the crosshair cursor which only selects part of the image when I click and drag it.

PDF is one thing. Folios for DPS is another. There is a little bit of
    overlap but not much.
The interactivity in the folio overlays panel is for DPS only.

In CS6 InDesign (8.0.1) I tried looking for Folio Overlays panel and it doesn't appear. So, I tried to go to Updates under Help menu but the Updates button is deactivated.
    Any ideas?

Folio Overlays is available under the 'Window' Menu. If it is not available, download it manually, links are available in the following document: Digital Publishing Suite Help | Installing DPS tools

  • Missing web content options and Preview in Folio Overlay panel

    Hello,
After placing a .oam file into a folio and while it is selected, when I click on the Folio Overlays panel, the web content listing options do not show up at all. Nor is the Preview option available. I saw and used them before when I was working through the tutorial. I sure hope it is something simple I overlooked!
    Thanks,
    Sarah

That looks strange. With the .oam container frame selected you should see the web content overlay
    Try:
Close and re-open the overlay panel
Quit InDesign and relaunch to try again
Else, try re-installing the DPS tools here Digital Publishing Suite Help | Installing DPS tools

  • InDesign CC - no folio overlay panel

Newly installed off the cloud, DPS tools should be good, folio overlay panel not showing up anywhere.

i get this message when trying help>updates

  • Folio Overlays Panel not working

Update: When I switch to the Digital Publishing Workspace I can open the Folio Overlays panel, but there is nothing in it. Do you need a full DPS subscription in order to access these features? I was under the impression you only needed the full subscription if you wanted to publish to the app store.
Nothing happens when I try to open the folio overlays panel from the Window menu. Any idea why? I tried resetting the InDesign preferences, but it doesn't seem to have helped. Running CS6, fully updated, Windows 7.

I have the same exact problem. I have Windows 7 and CS6 Creative Cloud installed (clean install; no older CS installed). I downloaded the DPS Tools for Windows and installed it. Still nothing appears in the Folio Builder panel. I also cannot get the Folio Overlay Panel to appear either.  I got the Folio Overlay panel to appear by resetting the Digital Publishing workspace in the upper right dropdown menu. If I try to set-up a folio from scratch, I cannot get it to create a document. (New > Folio... nada). So it appears that anything folio related is disabled.
I have the Creative Cloud subscription, which has DPS Single Edition. So I should be able to create folios no problem.
I am running this on my Mac Pro as well and that works just fine. I make sure to close ID on the machine I am not using to make sure there are no CC licensing issues. So it appears to be only a Windows issue.
Am I missing something? Hopefully some answers here soon.

  • Folio overlay

Hi Everyone I'm a bit frustrated as instead of enjoying indesign I'm about to not bother anymore. The simple stuff I always find hard!! I'm in DPS but can not find folio overlay yes I've updated even joined CC and for a person who doesn't have time has wasted far too much trying to find a tool Errr. If I have the lastest version and tools why oh why can't I find folio overlays? Any suggestions? Thanks X

    Moved to DPS forum.
Are you saying the panel isn't installed at all? If you use the Digital Publishing workspace does it show up? Is it under the Window menu?

  • Folio overlay doesn't display correctly on tablet

I have made an interactive animation in Edge Animate, and put it in an InDesign publishing document as a folio overlay. The overlay looks fine in the desktop content viewer, although I can't zoom in or interact with it as I should be able to on a tablet. To check I can fully interact it with (I have swiping in the Edge Animate file), I have opened it on my Nexus 7 as I don't currently have an iPad to test it on, but have found, when 'Scale content to fit' is ticked, the content is way too small but increases in size when I zoom in, and  when 'Scale content to fit' is unticked, the content is too big for the box and stays the same size when you zoom in. Also, whether the 'Scale content to fit' box is unticked or ticked, the content is contained in a box that I can scroll.
Basically, I want the content to be a bit smaller than when 'Scale content to fit' is ticked so I can see the whole animation, the content to increase in size when I zoom in and for there to be no bounding box.
This would be so much easier to explain in person, but I hope I've made sense! Thank you!

Don’t let the transparency stop you from using PDF:

  • No Preview in Folio Overlays panel

When I click Preview in the Folio Overlays panel, nothing happens.  The screen tip says the Adobe Viewer application must be open in the foreground, but I can only find the viewer for the iPad, not for the iMac.
I have the box version of InDesign CS6 installed; I also have the Creative Cloud, and am on Mac OSX 10.8.3. (I didn’t uninstall the box version and reinstall the cloud version.)
How can I get the Viewer to work in my iMac? I don’t see it in my Applications folder; I don’t see it as a separate download at Creative Cloud, and I don’t see it as an app except for the iPad.

    Try the steps at http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/kb/manual-install-content-viewer.html.

  • How to use DPS features like Folio Overlays while exporting to SWF?

I'm creating an interactive magazine in InDesign, it's been decided that the magazine will be exported to SWF and uploaded to our company website for viewing by the public. I want things like slideshows and scrollabe text frames. I saw that InDesign had an update to include some DPS features like the Folio Overlays, so I applied a Slideshow overlay and a Scrollable Frame overlay but neither of them seem to work after I export to SWF. I still want to have slideshows and scrollable frames, how can I still have them while exporting to SWF?

DPS is for mobile devices through Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite. The reason SWF is dead is because it’s pretty much incompatible with mobile devices. If you want to go to the web and keep things interactive you really need to be looking HTML5 / CSS3 type of websites. In5, which I mentioned in my earlier response will give you quite bit of help in going from InDesign to web, but I would strongly suggest you take a look at Muse if you’re not comfortable with HTML and CSS.
