Folio preview

My son is working on a mag in InDesign CS6 and was asked to save, check and finish his work for the day. At that point all was fine, after opening the file today he receives the following message when viewing on the iPad and just error when viewing on the desktop folio preview.  Can any one help. Invalid value for parameter 'sourceFolio' of method 'sideloadFolio'. Expected File, but received /Volumes/Users/James/Library/Preferences/StageManager.BD092818F67280F4B42B04877600987F011 1B594.1/Local Store/ocp/output/folio_1361375430160/proxy.folio.
iMac i5, new.
InDesign CS6

Looks like the link to the folio on your machine is broken between the folio builder and the local TEMP location on the machine. I'd suggest you to go ahead and delete the folio, recreate the folio and try again.

  • Urgent: File Folio Preview opens an empty "Folio Preview" panel (ID CS 5.5)

    Hi!
I just updated The Folio Builder panel, and the command File > Folio Preview does not send the document to the Content Viewer as usual, but opens a new panel called Folio Preview ..., which remains empty.
I can preview documents as usual using the Preview button at the bottom of the Overlay Creator panel, but not using the menu command. There is a check mark next to the Folio Preview command on the File menu when the panel remains open. (Doing some searches on this forum, there seemed to be a similar problem last October, but I would have thought it should be solved by now.)
I'm experiencing this problem on both my PC running Windows 7 and my MacBook Pro running Mac OS. (Both laptops are running the Norwegian version of the repective OS.)
I can work around the problem using the Overlay Creator panel, but if anybody has an explanation and/or solution I would be very grateful. I'm starting a two day course teaching DPS tomorrow, so this is rather urgent.
    Best regards,
    Tom
PS. I'll try to upload a screen shot shortly to clarify the situation.

Here's a screen shot (Windows, the Mac version looks and acts identical):
And here's the version I'm using. Just installed FolioPanel-CS55-12.2.2.1
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • Animation didn't work in folio preview!

i create animation like fade in and out when on click
it work well in the "preview" window..
however, when i upload it to folio and click the another "preview" (on the left lower position of the folio creator)
it did't come up with any animation ....meanwhile ....the overlay creator 's action like pan and zoom work well...
is there any method can solve it ?
    Thanks
    JK

    Hello Cube S JK
I'm currently dealing with this problem as well.
it seems the "preview" screen in indesign is just the flash-export preview and not the folio export preview.
If you want to do a folio preview hit the preview buton in the folio menu.
the animation menu is a menu filled with options and "tweens" for swf exports not for exports to adobe folio.
you could try to make animated objects using html 5 and add them as html content....
BUT: for as far as I can read the forums there seem to be problems with animations in html 5 content as well
And the .gif option doesn't work to since your folio gets exported in either jpg, png or pdf format.
I'm going to contact Adobe to allow users like you and me to add these so called tweens to folio publications, but as of yet there is no way to make animations for your digital magazines or books other than the standard things (360 degree spin and such)

  • Folio preview does not work!! since Mandatory Folio Builder Panel update!

    hi everyone
my grafic team told me that the folio preview in indesign does not work anymore since the required folio builder panel update!
working on mac and cs 5
    please help
    best regards michael

I just spoke with a member of our team and they were able to reproduce this issue: invoking folio preview from the file menu brings up an empty panel instead of launching the desktop preview tool. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! There are two ways you can work around this and get the desktop preview application up with your content:
    1) Use the preview button in the Folio Builder panel (this will preview the entire folio)
    2) Use the preview button in the Overlay Creator panel (this will preview the active InDesign document)
This problem only affects CS5 and CS5.5. If you are on CS6 the menu will work correctly.

  • Animation not playing in folio preview

Hi, I have created a document in InDesign and added animation using the 'Interactive - Animation' option, but when I create a folio, the animation isnt playing in the folio preview? Is there any tips to get the animation working in folio preview?

You have apparently done no research at all on this topic. I urge you to stop right now and read all of the DPS documentation which includes a list of which InDesign features are and more importantly aren't supported in DPS. Hint: Aninimation are not supported.
Please post followups in the DPS forum.

  • Color in Folio Preview does not match color in Workspace

I'm a beginner trying to make a layout of several images. The source images are PDF's and I want to eventually save the layout as a new PDF. When I bring the images into my layout, the color in the workspace is identical to the color in the source PDF's. However, if I do Folio Preview, the color is slightly different. If I Export the layout to PDF, then the resulting PDF's colors match the Folio Preview but not the source images. I've tried disabling all the Color Management I could find, but I am a beginner and clearly have not found the necessary settings. Appreciate any help.

Folio Preview is only for Digital Publishing Suite output and isn't the best way to preview. The most accurate color can be see if you choose View > Overprint Preview. You DON'T want to disable color management, in fact, I don't think you really can.

  • Folio preview error

    Hi All.
The error has returned, this time my son has spent about 25 hours on the file and he is doing really well.
The indd file opens fine and you can work your way through the file in InDesign (CS6). We plugged in the iPad and tried to view the folio in the adobe viewer through the overlay panel and in the InDesign folio preview. The InDesign folio preview just came up with error cant open file but when trying to view on the iPad adobe viewer the error below appears.
The file has not been changed since it was closed previously and was working well then in all modes.
This was recovered previously by deleting th folio in the folio builder and re-uploading. This time this is not going to work as there is no folio in the folio builder, we are just previewing as we are going along with the build.
Can some one please help, he has worked hard on this and needs to take the finished iten all the way to app and take to school. We really dont want to have to start all over again.
    Thanks, Jim & James.

Sorry Bob, dont know what happened there.
    Jim.

  • Folio Preview NOT working

Hi - I am running window 7 64bit and adobe could services for all required adobe applications.
InDesign is installed and the "Folio Preview" is not working. I have tried the "Preview", "Preview on Desktop" from "Folio Overlays" and the "Folio Preview" from the "File" menu, but get the same result. I have looked for the content viewer and noticed that it ins not installed. Please help!

Here's my response to a similar issue on another thread:
Are you on Windows or a Mac? I'm going to assume Mac for now:
    1) Check and make sure the Adobe Content Viewer shows in your Applications folder. If it does, run it and then try previewing again.
    2) If it's installed but preview still doesn't work try fixing up the file type assocation for .folio. See http://forums.adobe.com/message/4617478.
    3) If it isn't installed try installing it from /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers/AdobeDigitalPublishingCS6/ContentViewer/Adob eContentViewer.air
If you are on Windows the location for the install in step 3 is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\AdobeDigitalPublishingCS6\ContentViewer\AdobeC ontentViewer.air"

  • Content Viewer will not download the folio preview. Is there a maximum file size?

I am unable to download a 378 MB folio into the Adobe Content Viewer on my iPad.
I can preview the same folio using the Content Viewer on my laptop, and it works fine in the Content Viewer on the iPad as well when I transfer the file from laptop to iPad using the USB cable. However, when I click on the download cloud icon, there is a "Waiting..." text beneath it, but the file won't download. There is no other error message, even after ten minutes of wait time.
I am using the most recent version of the Content Viewer, and have tried deleting and replacing it several times, as well as restarting the iPad. I have closed all other apps on the iPad to free up memory. The iPad is running 8.1.2 and have more than 4 GB of storage.
I using the most current version of InDesign CC. The folio version number is 32.
My download speed here is about 34 Mbps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you have the latest 32.4 version of the Adobe Content Viewer?
It feels similar to an issue we had prior to the 32.1 version (see fix notes at Digital Publishing Suite Help | DPS Bug Fix Release Notes)
Otherwise you may want to call support so we can run a few tests with the folio itself.

  • Folio preview do not work

The preview of my folio only works on iPad when i submit it per USB cable. The content viewer on my mac works too. When i submit the folio online, the submitting stops with this error:
When i click "try again" it seems to work, bit the article on the iPad is not the last version. I have build a new, fresh folio on my local drive and saved all documents new, to solve the problem - but it's the same mistake. Things that are made in the articles and that i can see in the viewer per cable are not inside the folio per online submitting. Some articles are now uploaded, but it is not the last version. Any suggestions??
    Thanks from Germany
    Nicole

    "Article is uploading...
    Folio ist generating...ready.
    Article is uploading"
    "The upload failed.
    Network error."
But: My network ist ok. I've allready try to upload from another location with another network - the same error.

When I select the Preview option at the bottom on the Folio Overlays window, I select he Desktop, I get the progress graph indicating its running, it compete, close and...nothing. The preview never shows up. However, if I select my iPad as the view ruth the content viewer running on my iPad, it comes through on the iPad just fine.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?
    Thanks

Try manually installing the desktop viewer. Steps to do so are at http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/kb/manual-install-content-viewer.html

  • Local Folio preview?

Hi, I'm currently away on a training course for the week and I'm trying to work on my publication in the evenings, but the hotel WiFi is not letting me download my publications to the iPad content viewer.
Is there anyway to preview a publication locally? Even through USB/Dock connector?
Hopefully someone can give me an anser soon as I'm stuck in the hotel for a week and have a lot of work to do!
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
To preview in iPad (Content Viewer) you need to be subscribe of DPS, because you have to create your own Adobe Content Viewer with Viewer Builder. Then install the Phone Disk software in your Mac to connect the Folio Builder panel with iPad.
It´s not so simple, but work well
You can preview in Desktop Content Viewer with Overlay Creator or Folio Builder panels

  • Folio preview error: 'exportArticleFolio'

    Hi,
I am using Indesign CC. Creating digital publishing article. Have no errors, no missing links.
I had been using and previewing the file fine up until I exported a pdf version of it. After that, the preview would load and then a pop up would come up simply saying, 'exportArticleFolio'.
I hadn't even set up a folio yet, so I attempted to do that. Then it came up with the same message when I attempted to create an article.
PLEASE HELP. I have tried the save as thing, I have tried renaming it so there are no white spaces in the name, etc.

If you are doing preview from Folio Builder Panel you *must* have both a portrait and a landscape version of the article in the folio when you've selected dual orientation otherwise you'll get that error. If you use preview from the Folio Overlays panel it will just preview the open document and whatever your folio is set to doesn't matter.
Having typed all that... don't make a dual-orientation folio. It doubles your design time, almost doubles your folio size, and provides no benefit to your reader. Pick one orientation and design for that.

  • Folio Preview Question

    Hi,
I am building a custom DPS Storefront and I would like to now if this is possible to fetch multiple images for preview.
    Actually :
    - I can fetch correctly the cover image (using this.folio.getPreviewImage)
    - Preview mode works (we can download paid folios for preview)
... but I would like to set a bunch of statif images associated with this folio to create an itunes-like carousel in the preview dialog view.
I assume that we can set those preview images (associated with an iTunes ProductID) within iTunes, but how do we can fetch them in the ADOBE DPS API context?
    Thank you!

We don't have a way via the API for you to get preview thumbnails of anything other than the cover image uploaded along with the folio. If you want to pull in other preview images you'll need to host them on your own site and pull from there.

  • Indesign SWF / Folio Preview problem

In Indesign cs6 my doc previews in swf preview but not folio builder??

Details please. You've given us nothing to go on.
The folio builder isn't preview feature. The Adobe Content Viewer is and it's available for the desktop and tablets.
