Folio Producer: reduce document dimensions of a folio

Hello,
we have a small problem regarding the folio document dimensions (2048 px, 1024 px).
Our goal is to publish one version for a 2048 px resolution and one version for 1024 px.
This is not a problem for documents we design – we simply create two folios with different widths and heights.
Now here comes the fun part: some folios will be designed by other agencies and we won´t have access to their InDesign documents.
We want these agencies to share only one folio (iPad 4 resolution) with our Adobe ID.
Is there any way to generate an folio with a dimension of 1024 * 768 px from a 2048 * 1024 px folio without the InDesign document?
(I know this is not a great way because in theory you will get half pixels)

You can't create a folio without the original documents.

I've created over a hundred files in Photoshop for placement in a book I'm making with software provided by the printer that uses templates of set sizes. My big mistake was to make all the files in Photoshop at A4 size (21cm X 29.7cm) whereas the template page size is 8 x 10 inches. (I know, really dumb on my part not to double-check this vital statistic!).
If I change the document dimensions via Image > Canvas Size, the images (which are all printed articles, not photos) are cropped, which is useless.
Rather than create 100 new files using the correct page setup dimensions, changing the image dimensions in the old file, copying and pasting it into the new (10" x 8") file, can anyone suggest a simpler way? I don't mind doing this manually, but ideally I'll be able to do it in the existing file rather than creating a new one.

Thank you very much for this. I am a novice at certain things in Photoshop and making actions is one of them. However, I will learn how to do it as I can see it will make my life easier.
I'm confused by one thing. The other answer to my question (see thread) says to turn Resample Image "off". You say to turn it on. Which is it? I didn't really understand the other advice or the terminology (e.g interpolate).

If you have purchased Pages for the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you can. Open http://www.icloud.com, login with your Apple ID, select iWork and drag your documents to the browser window, so they will be uploaded to iCloud as Word documents.
If you haven't purchased Pages or you don't have any Apple device, instead of using iCloud, you should use a cloud service as Dropbox or, better, Microsoft SkyDrive

Reduce document size of Pages document

I am new to Pages. I created a two-page document with text boxes and four photos. I reduced the size of each photo with the REDUCE IMAGE SIZE button. I clicked on "reduce document size" in the SAVE dialogue. I saved the document in PAGES format and a copy in WORD format.
The resulting document sizes are: Pages 1.6mb Word 168kb. The appearance is exactly the same. There was a message when the Word copy saved that some formatting wasn't saved, but it made absolutely no difference to the appearance and ability to edit and move and delete images in WORD.
I want to save the PAGES documents without all the extra formatting but I don't see a way to do it. I can't see making a library of thousands of documents, each between 1.5 and 2MB when I could have the same library take up 1/10th the space and load more quickly.
I am thinking about getting rid of MS OFFICE and going to iWORK 09 for my business, so this is an important issue as there are eight computers making documents all day long.

The WORD document has been deleted along with all the other "trial" documents. There were too many things I couldn't do in PAGES and NUMBERS that I have taken for granted in Excel and I just can't see going forward without those features.
I think the size of the document was less than 200k in Word... 180 perhaps. I can't recall. But the difference between a few hundred kb and 1.6 mb would add too much overhead when there are thousands of documents to deal with.

Illustrator cs6 produces blank document when printing or converting to pdf. can someone help?

I use illustrator cs6 tryout. when trying to convert the doc to pdf or print, it is producing blank document. i tried taking help online by trying to click layers but print option in layers is unchecked and greyed out.....so cant do much there...any help?

Getting "Document Dimensions" Readout to Stick

I like to set the little status area at the bottom left of my image window to "Document Dimensions", because I like to watch the pixel count.
It will stay like this during my editing session once I set it.
Unfortunately whenever I go to look at the thing in some future editing session it always seems to be reverted to 32 bit Exposure, which is meaningless to me as I primarily work in 16 bit / color mode.
It's just a minor irritation, but an irritation nonetheless as this little field is supposed to give information "at a glance".
I notice it infrequently enough that I can't say what I might have done in between times I see it. I do know this: It reverts as the above without my ever having opened or converted mode to a 32 bit image. It's happening on both 32 and 64 bit versions of Photoshop CS5. My system is Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
Anyone else seeing this field revert to 32-bit Exposure on its own across multiple Photoshop sessions?
I suppose it could be a plugin, though I don't think I've used 3rd party plugins every time I've seen this happen. I really don't run them that often. I probably have run Camera Raw every time.
I'll try to keep a weather eye out for it. Maybe I can figure out what's doing it.

I'd love to know if anyone else is seeing this little status display changing on its own.
I just seem to find that every few days it's back on the Document Sizes display. It would be great if it would stick as I have set it (Document Dimensions). It may be that I do something specific that causes it to change (are Document Sizes not valid for some modes/depths?).

Reducing pixel dimensions increases document size.

In photoshop cs6. Working on an image of 15000x18662 pixels, with about 100+ layers. doc size 800mb/6.43GB. To optimize speed, I reduced the file size to the absolute minimum I need which is 13200x16423. However now the file size grew bigger 620.2M/6.45GB. Some layers extend beyond the visible image area, so I cropped the image "deleting cropped pixels" , but this increased the image even further to 6.50GB. What's going on here?

Can you provide the original image?
Depending on the interpolation settings on the content downsampling might result in a lessened effect of the applied compression.
You seem to give the approximated values from "Document Sizes" in the status bar – what is the actual file’s size?

How to change PDF document dimensions - Acrobat Pro 9

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to change the dimensions of my PDF in Acrobat Pro.
The original artwork was created in Illustrator and the final document is primarily for screen use (not print) so was created using pixels (600x665px to be precise). However when the artwork is created into a PDF, when viewed (and printed) in Acrobat, it is rather large and I want to make this smaller.
If anyone can advise on this it'd be much appreciated!

You might play with the Touchup Object tool off the Advanced Editing toolbar.
Use the tool to select the image. Any of the four corners can be "grabbed" and a mouse drag will let you change the space occupied, on the PDF page, by the image. Not a "fine control" but, sometimes, all that's needed.
Or, in Preferences > Touchup category - the associated configuration pane permits selection of an installed image editor.
Now, using the Touchup Object tool's context menu, you can use the "Edit Image..." selection.
Edit the image and return it to the PDF.

Document Dimensions "Box" Disappeared (black box)

I started Illustrator CS3 today and the dimensions box is no longer visible when I create a new document (sorry, I don't know the term for what I am trying to describe). Instead of the usual "black box" that shows my canvas, Illustrator loads a Green Box, which I think it is for cropping, right?
Is there a way I can just reset this and go back to the default settings that I am used too? I apologize for the vagueness and I appreciate the help.

You may try to close down Illy and restart, pressing Cmd+Option+Shift during startup.
If that does not help, you may Move the folder (instructions included).

Enlarging/reducing document size when scanning.

Is it possible to enlarge/reduce a document size on the Deskjet 2540? My wife uses that function for her sewing patterns. If not capable, could someone please recommend software?

Hi,
No zooming function, you het 100% (size) of the original when scan. No need to buy any software, you can use Windows Paint to increase/decrease the scanned file.

I have a 2007 iMac with version 10.6.8. When downloading "some" files to my computer, these files become "zip files." When I open the zip file, it produces a document in some coding language. How can I open the file to produce a legible document?

A "zip file" is a compressed file. "Zipping" in principle does not and cannot change the contents. So that if the contents before zipping are garbage, or unreadable on a Mac, when you expand the file you will get garbage or an unreadable file.
The first thing to verify therefore is whether the file, before it was zipped, was in a "Mac friendly" format. Can you do that?
You do not need an App to zip or unzip. These functions are built in on our Macs.
And yes, zipping and unzipping using the built in functionality, work fine in OS 10.6.8. And 10.7 and 10.8 and 10.9.

Reducing document size for email

Hi, I am trying to send an email attaching 15 pg doc. It keeps rejecting saying file is too large. Can I put all 15 pgs in 1 attachment (currently 15 attachments) and reduce the size somehow so it goes through?

iPhoto does not work on photos that are not in its database
in iPhoto you can select a photo and click on mail (if you have configured your iPhoto preferences for your mail client) and select actual, large, medium or small as the size to mail - if you are using the mail program there is a similar menu in the lower right hand corner of the compose window
If none of those options work in iPhoto you can export (file menu ==> export) and set the exact pixel dimensions you want - for "good" quality I would want at least 200 dpi so the resulting JPEG would need to be at least 1600 x 2000 and 2400 x 3000 would be better
I certainly would use a JPEG rather than a TIFF to get the best quality relative to the size
TIFFs give a small quality improvement for a large size increase

I found this script to create a new document from a radiobutton choice of dimension; it works very fine, but I need to have the possibility to add a window to enter a personal width if I need to create a new document with no standard dimension.
