Title: Java SE for Embedded Meets Oracle Berkeley DB at the Edge
Abstract: This session covers a special case of edge-to-enterprise computing, where the edge consists of embedded devices running Java SE for Embedded in combination with Oracle Berkeley DB Java Edition, a widely used embedded database. The approach fits a larger emerging trend in which edge embedded devices are "smart"--that is, they come equipped with an embedded (in-process) database for structured persistent storage of data as needed. In addition, these devices may optionally come with a thin middleware layer that can perform certain basic data processing operations locally. The session highlights the synergies between both technologies and how they can be utilized. Topics covered include implementation and performance optimization.
Speaker(s): Carlos Lucasius, Oracle , Java Embedded Engineering
Carlos Lucasius works in the Java Embedded and Real-Time Engineering product team at Oracle Corporation, where he is involved in development, testing, and technical support. Prior to joining Sun (now Oracle), he worked as an consultant to IT departments at various companies in both North-America and Europe; specific application domains he was involved in include artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, advanced data processing, simulation, and optimization as applied to complex systems and processes such as intelligent instruments and industrial manufacturing. Carlos has presented frequently at scientific conferences, universities/colleges, and corporations across North-America and Europe. He has also published a number of papers in refereed international journals covering applied scientific research in abovementioned areas.

Title: Developing Applications with Oracle Berkeley DB for Java and Java ME Smartphones
Abstract: Oracle Berkeley DB is a high-performance, embeddable database engine for developers of mission-critical systems. It runs directly in the application that uses it, so no separate server is required and no human administration is needed, and it provides developers with fast, reliable, local persistence with zero administration. The Java ME platform provides a new, rich user experience for cell phones comparable to the graphical user interfaces found on the iPhone, Google Android, and other next-generation cell phones. This session demonstrates how to use Oracle Berkeley DB and the Java ME platform to deliver rich database applications for today's cell phones.
Speaker(s): Hinkmond Wong, Oracle, Principal Member of Technical Staff
Hinkmond Wong is a principal engineer with the Java Micro Edition (Java ME) group at Oracle. He was the specification lead for the Java Community Process (JCP) Java Specification Requests (JSRs) 36, 46, 218, and 219, Java ME Connected Device Configuration (CDC) and Foundation Profile. He holds a B.S.E degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and an M.S.E degree in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University. Hinkmond's interests include performance tuning in Java ME and porting the Java ME platform to many types of embedded devices. His recent projects include investigating ports of Java ME to mobile devices, such as Linux/ARM-based smartphones and is the tech lead of CDC and Foundation Profile libraries. Oracle OpenWorld and Ops Center 12c
When I was at Oracle OpenWorld two weeks ago, I could have sworn the Ops Center booth was running an unreleased version of Ops Center (to be 12c). If that is the case, what is the estimated release date of this product? And will it be like Oracle Enterprise Manager, and only run on Oracle Linux? Or is Ops Center 11g just being rebranded under the Enterprise Manager "12c" brand?
At Oracle OpenWorld, Oracle showed a preview of the next release of Ops Center plus the currently shipping version 11gR1. Oracle cannot discuss specific future release dates over public forums, but should you have a local Oracle account team servicing your company you can reach out to them and find out more information via the non-disclosure agreement process.
Ops Center works on Solaris (x86 and SPARC), Oracle Linux, and several RPM distributions of Linux. I will also note that Enterprise Manager 12c also works on a large variety of Operating Systems. We currently only see the Oracle Linux version downloadable because it is their release process to release Oracle Linux first and then follow up that release with additional downloads for the other Operating Systems in the weeks that follow. -
Alert #68: Oracle Security Update
Hi All ,
I am new to the world of Oracle EBS and I was recently assigned the DBA task in my company for the ebs 11.5.10.2 that was installed be a former DBA .
Our security department are following up on a security update by oracle in the link .
http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/security/pdf/2004alert68.pdf
I see that my database is version 9.2.0.6 so I do not think I need to do anything there . Is that true ?
For the application server , Can someone help me to find what version I have ? Also , How do I apply the patch if needed .
I also do not know if the former DBA already installed the patch or not how do I find out ?
ThanksSaeed,
You do not need to install any iAS rollup patch since you are on the latest one.
For Oracle HTTP Server security patches, you need to have Patch 3835781 installed. This is already explained in the following notes:

Unusual behavior with 'IKM Oracle Incremental Update' knowledge module
Hi All,
We are getting strange behaviour in our PIP.We have following three scenarios in our PIP.
1) LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_PROCESSMFG_BULK_LOT_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG
2) LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_DISCRETEMFG_WORKORDER_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG
3) LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_PROCESSMFG_WORKORDER_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG
we have a project variable PVV_GET_SCEN_NAME which will hold the scenario name in that package.
we are trying to modify the 'IKM Oracle Incremental Update' knowledge module, we have written following code.this code will match the content of I$ table with target table based on various columns.if they are matching we will delete the matching rows from target table. But when we are executing scenario "LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_PROCESSMFG_BULK_LOT_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG",then the wrong IF condition is getting matched in the following procedure.
the condition that is getting matched is "ELSIF ('#ORACLEEBIZ_TO_PAS_PROJECT.PVV_GET_SCEN_NAME'='LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_DISCRETEMFG_WORKORDER_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG') THEN".Actually the value of #ORACLEEBIZ_TO_PAS_PROJECT.PVV_GET_SCEN_NAME will be LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_PROCESSMFG_BULK_LOT_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG.i am not sure why odi is matching this condition.
Please provide your comments on this issue.thanks in advace.
IKM step:
BEGIN
IF '#PVV_GET_SCEN_NAME'='LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_PROCESSMFG_BULK_LOT_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG' THEN
DELETE FROM <%=odiRef.getTable("L", "TARG_NAME", "W")%> WHERE (item_number,lot_number,source_system) IN
(SELECT item_number,lot_number,source_system FROM <%=odiRef.getTable("L", "INT_NAME", "A")%>);
COMMIT;
ELSIF '#PVV_GET_SCEN_NAME'='LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_DISCRETEMFG_WORKORDER_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG' THEN
DELETE FROM <%=odiRef.getTable("L", "TARG_NAME", "W")%> WHERE (segment1,segment2,segment3,source_system,item_number) IN
(SELECT segment1,segment2,segment3,source_system,item_number FROM <%=odiRef.getTable("L", "INT_NAME", "A")%>);
COMMIT;
ELSIF '#PVV_GET_SCEN_NAME'='LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_PROCESSMFG_WORKORDER_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG' THEN
DELETE FROM <%=odiRef.getTable("L", "TARG_NAME", "W")%> WHERE (segment2,source_system) IN
(SELECT segment2,source_system FROM <%=odiRef.getTable("L", "INT_NAME", "A")%>);
COMMIT;
ELSE
NULL;
END IF;
END;
Thanks
BajiHi Himanshu,
Thanks for your help.
I gave fully qualified name,even then it didn't worked.
- How are you deriving the value of variable
project variable PVV_GET_SCEN_NAME is refreshing variable and it will get the value of scenario with the following sql query
select SESS_NAME
from <%=snpRef.getObjectName("L","SNP_SESSION","D")%>
where SESS_NO = <%=snpRef.getSession("SESS_NO")%>
-Log or store the value of variable as comment in IKM sql query using "-- #varvalue" and note the value is same as compared
When i gave --#varvalue (or) --#ORACLEEBIZ_TO_PAS_PROJECT.PVV_GET_SCEN_NAME is doesnot display any thing.what i did is I changed the PVV_GEN_SCEN_NAME variable to hostorize variable to see correct value of that and after the executing the scenario,i can see the value as "LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_PROCESSMFG_BULK_LOT_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG".I also tried same thing by changing technology to jython and i am able to see same value "LOAD_ORACLEEBIZ_PROCESSMFG_BULK_LOT_DATA_TO_PAS_PKG" for the PVV_GET_SCEN_NAME variable.
Thanks

Can you help me interpret the following lines in UPDATE rule?
Hi,
Can you help me interpret the following lines in UPDATE rule?
1. What is the role of role of u201CCHANGING RESULT.u201D and u201CCHANGING lc_local_value.u201D?
2. What is the role of the CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY', in particular the Exporting and Importing parts?
3. Can I say that u201CCOMM_STRUCTURE-ORDER_VALu201D in the subroutine is passed to u201Clc_document_valueu201D in the u201CFORM loc_curr_convertu201D; and further passed to u201Cforeign_amountu201D in the u201CCALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY'u201D?
4. Finally, what becomes of my original u201CActual Goods receipt quantityu201D( 0GR_QTY ) which I am writing the routine for? I donu2019t see any where in the code that it is being referred to? Do any of these codes affect the value of 0GR_QTY?
5. Also, if there are 3 different subroutines in the INCLUDE and I am making the change described in #4 above, how do I know which of the 3 subroutines to call?
===============================
===============================
So I am reviewing a transfer routine in for u201CActual Goods receipt quantityu201D and routine an INCLUDE statement: INCLUDE RS_BCT_MM_UPDATE_RULES.
The update rule also includes the following properties to run the following subroutine in the Include:
IF u2026..
perFORM LOC_CURR_CONVERT
USING COMM_STRUCTURE-ORDER_VAL
COMM_STRUCTURE-DOC_DATE
COMM_STRUCTURE-ORDER_CURR
COMM_STRUCTURE-LOC_CURRCY
COMM_STRUCTURE-EXCHG_RATE
CHANGING RESULT.
I verified in the INCLUDE (RS_BCT_MM_UPDATE_RULES) and the subroutine is as follows:
FORM loc_curr_convert
USING lc_document_value
lc_date
lc_document_currency
value(lc_local_currency)
lc_rate
CHANGING lc_local_value.
conversion of lc_rate from floating-point to decimal. Necessary for *
call of CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY.
data lc_rate_dec type p decimals 5.
lc_rate_dec = lc_rate.
IF lc_document_currency = lc_local_currency
no conversion necessary -> Main case 1
AND NOT ( lc_document_currency IS INITIAL
OR lc_local_currency IS INITIAL ) .
lc_local_value = lc_document_value.
ELSEIF NOT ( lc_document_currency IS INITIAL
OR lc_local_currency IS INITIAL OR lc_date IS INITIAL ) .
conversion necessary with lc_date -> Normally not possible
CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY'
EXPORTING
date = lc_date
foreign_amount = lc_document_value
foreign_currency = lc_document_currency
local_currency = lc_local_currency
rate = lc_rate_dec
IMPORTING
EXCHANGE_RATE =
local_amount = lc_local_value
EXCEPTIONS
NO_RATE_FOUND = 1
OVERFLOW = 2
NO_FACTORS_FOUND = 3
NO_SPREAD_FOUND = 4
DERIVED_2_TIMES = 5.
IF sy-subrc NE 0.
message a802 with lc_date lc_document_currency lc_local_currency
sy-subrc.
ENDIF.
ELSE.
if conversion not possible -> assign target values
lc_local_value = lc_document_value.
lc_local_currency = lc_document_currency.
ENDIF.
ENDFORM.HI,
Thanks so much the explanations.
I just verified again on our dev system and the update rule for 0GR_QTY (Actual goods receipt quantity) include the following:
perFORM QUANTITY_CONVERT
USING COMM_STRUCTURE-CPQUAOU
COMM_STRUCTURE-po_UNIT
COMM_STRUCTURE-base_uom
COMM_STRUCTURE-numerator
COMM_STRUCTURE-denomintr
CHANGING RESULT
Now, in the include, I also found:
FORM QUANTITY_CONVERT
USING QC_SOURCE_VALUE
QC_SOURCE_UNIT
VALUE(QC_TARGET_UNIT)
QC_UMREZ
QC_UMREN
CHANGING QC_TARGET_VALUE.
i. Does it mean it actually does quantity conversion?
ii. If you have access to the INCLUDE I will appreciate some hints on what the subroutine QUANTITY_CONVERT is doing. It does not appear do to be saying anything about quantity conversion; but it is supposed to be doing something with the parameters being passed from the update routine.
iii. In your response to #5, after all the computation in the INCLUDE, what comes back to the Update rule i.e. what comes back to become the value of 0GR_QTY?
Is it the u201CRESULT.u201D in the update rule or u201CQC_TARGET_VALUE.u201D in the subroutine in the INCLUDE.
iv. So, am to create an Update rule for 0PSTNG_DATE and the source is BUDAT; and I need to write a routine using the include INCLUDE RS_BCT_MM_UPDATE_RULES.
I looked through the INCLUDE and identified all the subroutines in this INCLUDE as follows:
QUANTITY_CONVERT
LOC_CURR_CONVERT
GET_WEEK
WEEK_DAY
QUARTER_DAY
--Does it mean that to use this subroutine, I can only use the USING parameters of one of these listed subroutines?
--Also, does it mean that because 0PSTNG_DATE is a date, I can only use one of
GET_WEEK
WEEK_DAY
QUARTER_DAY
--Or, are there other includes to be used for 0PSTNG_DATE

I started Photoshop Elements 10 and followed instructions to update the Inspiration Browser. After clicking download and install nothing happens.
I installed Photoshop Elements today and ran into the same problem following the instructions to update the Inspiration Browser---nothing happened after clicking "Install Now" on the installation link. Updating Adobe Air to the latest version got around the problem for me. I was offered to update after running Adobe Commmunity Help for the first time. The update took my already installed version two to version three, and after that clicking on "Install Now" began an installation process that insalled the Inspiration Browser. Hope this helps.
