Follow up on my previous message

The more I mess with this the bigger hunk of junk it appears.  I took it off where I have no signal from my router and it synced up to the wireless card in my PC which has all the same settings as and work fine with the router.  Both light remained blue and I could log into the RE.  When I move back to a area I know I have weak signal levels the RE again synced to the PC and the signal strength went from very weak to excellent.  Then move the RE to an area that I know the signal is good and left the PC in the very weak area.  The lights on the RE blinked RED until it synced with the PC and the signal at the PC went up again.  Now the problems begin.  It I try to renew or run repair on my network card all goes fine until it tries to aquire a netwark address and it freezes.  The signal strength shows to be excellent.  If I unplug the RE the signal strength drops to very weak, but I do get an address.  Why won't thing thing pass the address?
Btw the only way to get the lights to stay blue when the RE in only synced to the router is to remove all security and it still will ot pass an address.  I have the feeling my 12ga.is going to get some exercise soon!

Sorry but I am not quite following your problem, other than at the very end you are saying that you can't enable security. It sounded as if you were moving in areas where the signal was weak and the RE was giving you better signals. Then  you said you unplugged it and the signal was weak again. That is how it should work. However, the RE is not "syncing" to your PC or getting any info from it. It does connect to the router and retransmits that signal to the PC that is normally out of range of the router (e.g. poor signal). That the PC freezes when you try to renew an IP address may mean you need to power cycle the network. The router is actually where the DHCP (assigning the IP addresses to the devices) occurs. The RE doesn't actually do anything but extend the signal it gets from the router. Also, if you assigned a static IP to the PC during configuration, you have to reenable DHCP on the PC. Also, you describe the signal strength but you don't mention if you can connect to the internet. If you can, again, it sounds like the RE is doing its job.
On the security thing, what version of RE do you have? The first version may not support WPA but don't know for sure. I have v.1 with WEP enabled. Also, be sure the firmare is upgraded and the WPA info is correct.

  • Retrieving and synching previous messages on multiple devices

Is it possible to improve the way exchanged messages on Messages Beta/iMessages on one device are subsequently retrieved on another using the same account? If one swaps devices in a chat then previous messages are retrieved sequentially making the chat untenable.
Say I have exchanged messages in the morning on my iPhone but would like to resume the chat in the afternoon on my MacBook as I open Messages Beta for the first time that day. Every morning message composed and received on my iPad is retrieved on the MacBook but in a ridiculous way: message follows message one at a time as if the computer is reconstructing the conversation. If I happen to write or receive a message while this delirium is on, new messages overlap with the old and the whole sequence is lost. A more sensible way would be to have all messages retrieved in one go on the devices that were not used for sending or receiving them.
    Thanks

    Hi,
AT present we are stuck with the way Apple are running the sync process to Messages Beta.
There are no changes we can make to improve things - other than keeping the computer on and wake and therefore synced.

  • I can't tell if my previous messages came thru, but I need help with PSE 7.0. I can't use my drop shadow brush set anymore.

I am not sure if any of my previous messages went thru or not, but I have Photoshop Elements 7.0. I learned how to open a blank file and use a textbox to make my watermark and also my copyright logo and save them each as a brush. They were saved in the Drop Shadow Brushes. When I used my cloning stamp yesterday, I switched brushes to basic. When I later attempted to go back into the drop shadow brush set where I had saved the watermark and copyright logo, a message came up telling me the file couldnot be opened because it wasnot compatible with this version of Photoshop. I presume it is because of the special brushes saved there. What do I do now?

  • Next message/previous message - how to? new user

I'm new to Macs. So far I like it.
When reading an email message, can I click forward or backward through the messages in that folder? I don't see this option/feature.
I see "delete", "junk", "reply", "reply all", "forward", "print". I'm looking for something like "next message" and "previous message", so I can just click forward and backward through the inbox.

    Hello Ryan.
You can use keyboard shortcuts to take pictures of the screen in Mac OS X.
To take a picture of the whole screen, press Command-Shift-3.
To take a picture of part of the screen, press Command-Shift-4, then drag to select the area you want in the picture.
To take a picture of a window, the menu bar, the Dock, or other area, press Command-Shift-4, then press the Space bar. Move the pointer over the area you want so that it's highlighted, then click. If you decide you want to drag to select the area, press the Space bar again.
If you press Command-Shift-4 and decide you don't want to take the screen shot, press the Escape key.
Screen shots are saved as files on the desktop. If you want to put the screen shot in the Clipboard, rather than create a file, hold down the Control key when you press the other keys. You can then paste the picture into a document.
You can use the Grab application to take a picture of all or part of your computer screen.
Open Grab (located in /Applications/Utilities) and choose a command from the Capture menu.
Selection takes a picture of a part of the screen that you select.
Window takes a picture of a window you select.
Screen takes a picture of the entire screen.
Timed Screen lets you start a timer and activate part of the screen (such as a menu), and then takes a picture of the screen.
    Follow the onscreen instructions.
To see information about a screen shot you've taken, such as the size and depth, choose Edit > Inspector.
To save a screen shot, choose File > Save. Grab saves screen shots as files in TIFF format. You can use the Preview application to view these files and export them to other formats, such as JPEG.

  • Next message / previous message shortcuts?

On my Outlook account at work, I can move through my messages by opening one message, and then clicking the "next message / previous message" arrows on the taskbar. The new message opens directly in place of the previous one.
In Mail, I have to close one message, return to the Inbox and then open the next message. I've looked through these posts, and in the OS X Tiger Missing Manual and can't find a similar keystroke/button to navigate directly from the message window.
I hate to acknowledge that MS EVER has a simpler, more efficient way to do anything, but I may have to make an exception here! Anyone got a clue?

in deleting an i message  the previous message remains on the screen but with the time stamp of the deleted message . how do i fix this?

    Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP!  Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process.  Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal.  No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
(Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
Let me know if this works for you!

  • Interface Message acknowledge() method acknowledges this and all previous messages received.

    Hi,
I use a JDBC datastore to hold messages in a queue. When I receive a message
off the queue, there is a flag that says True or False. If True, I want to
put the message back onto the queue without acknowledge. If False, I want
to acknowledge. My session instantiation looks like this:
              qsession = qcon.createQueueSession(false,Session.CLIENT_ACKNOWLEDGE);
Currently, I receive messages by correlation ID in order to filter messages
based on the flag. First, I receive all messages with False. Those messages
I will acknowledge. Then, I receive messages with True. This group of
messages will not be acknowldeged. Instead, I use qsession.recover. The
messages are put back on the same queue after forwarding them to another
process. The process will return success or failure. If failure, the
process will call again, and I'll resend the group of messages I just
              recovered.
What I would like to have happen is to do this procedure in one loop, not
two. Instead, I would rather get all messages, and check if True or False.
If True, I would want to skip acknowledgement. If False, I would want to
acknowledge. The problem is, the JMS Message.acknowledge method will
acknowledge all the messages it received before.
In BEA WebLogic, is there an ability to acknowledge a particular message,
rather than all previous messages? If it is not possible, is the reason
because the acknowledge underneath is actually like a database commit? Is
there any other way to process these two types of messages given that I may
need to keep one type around in case resending is necessary?
              Regards,

The is a FAQ. And no, BEA does not provide an "acknowledge-one"
extension. It does provide an "acknowledge-previous" extension, via a
connection factory configurable, but this won't help in your case.
One common solution is to use a pool of multiple sessions (one per
              current message).
              > If it is not possible, is the reason
              > because the acknowledge underneath is actually like a database commit?
No. BEA JMS is just following the JMS spec here.

  • Delete and "scroll" highlights previous message

As a returning Mac user, I love my mac. One feature I don't like is when I'm deleting mail. When a message is deleted in the preview pane, instead of rolling up the next new message, the previous message is highlighted. I find this a bit annoying, not to mention having accidentally lost a few messages before I realized what happened.
Is there a setting I missed or do I just have to start at the bottom of the list? This seems like an easy "feature" to fix.
    Thanks!

Not sure what you mean. Mail does select the next message, but it selects whatever the next message in ascending order is, regardless of whether you have the messages sorted in ascending or in descending order.
If that’s what you’re observing, I believe it’s a bug. You may report it in any of the following places:

I am trying to access a message from early 2012. When I load previous messages It will only go back to oct 2012 and then the program stops and kicks my to the home page. Anyone know how I can get to the message? Thanks.

    Try Spotlight Search
    1. From any Home screen page of iPad, drag your finger down anywhere on the center of Home screen.
    2. Spotlight search will now appear and you can search for apps, texts, or any other content you'd like just as you did on previous versions of iOS.

  • Follow up question to previous post

    I'm really confused...
I just posted a message in which I said all TV shows aren't playing back on ATV. Well I found one show that is. These episodes are the only ones that I purchased via iTunes on my Mac and I assume they have been synched to ATV - as I can see them in ATV menu and I can actually watch them - as I should be able to. BUT, as I posted in my previous message, any other episodes which I purchased directly via ATV give an error - "The selected video could not be played".
Another thing I have noticed,,, is if I close by PowerBook, I immediately get an error message: There are not TV shows on your ATV.
I never used to get that,,, and as I have bought so many shows via the ATV,, this is surprising to me. I thought they were stored on the ATV itself?
I find all of this very confusing. I'm a big fan of Apple from way-way-way back, but this ATV is not quite baked yet,, or I'm getting too old.
Anyway,,, it seems my recent attempt to save space on my PowerBook by deleting show shows (but I did copy the files via finder to a external drive) - seems to have messed things up?
Can anyone help me sort things out again?

I'm afraid I'm a bit confused too. Some of this post seems to contradict the last.
First thing is first, if when you close your macbook the content is no longer available then it isn't synced. This could be because syncing has been turned off or because of how you have moved content to the HD.
Check your sync options (click on the tv in the device list) how many tabs do you have.

  • Move to previous message instead of more recent message?

I just switched from Thunderbird to Mail, and was wondering about the order in which you can read messages (after deleting one.) In Mail, I see that when I delete a message the viewer automatically takes me to the next--the most recent--message. Is there a way to change this so that it moves back to the previous message? I've tried changing the sort order to read old to new, and it still moves the viewer to the most recent message.
    Thanks!

For me, it's been automatic. When I go into Messages to text someone who is enabled for iMessage, it sends the message as an iMessage, whether I want it to or not.
The first time my husband sent me an iMessage, it looked like it was sending it as a text, but after it sent, the bubble was blue (instead of green), and the text input bar said "iMessage" instead of "Text Message."
So from what I've seen, it just happens if the other person is set up for it. I think you'll probably have to turn off the iMessage feature altogether (which it looks like some other people have mentioned).

I can't stand that Mail always goes to the next newest message after deleting.
Every other email program I've ever seen (including Entourage - see below) can do this.  Why can't Apple?  I don't want to touch the mouse most of the time because it really slows down work to move ones hands back and forth.   I did a quick web search and found these shortcuts for all the major programs.  If you know of any other program besides Apple Mail that doesn't have this, let me know.
Until then, if Outlook, Outlook Express, Entourage, Sparrow, Postbox, and Thunderbird have had this, what's Apple's problem adding it?

  • IMAC Email - Moving to Next or Previous Message

I am a new iMAC and iPhone user, and am using Apple Mail on both devices.
On my iPhone, after I view 1 particular message, I have the option to hit an "UP" or "DOWN" arrow, to move to the NEXT or PREVIOUS email message to view.   However on the iMAC, when I view a Mail Message in Full Screen mode, I can't seem to find a way to move to the NEXT or PREVIOUS email message, unless I close down the current message, and then open the next message.   I can easily scroll thru multiple messages when using the "preview panel" to view the contents of a single email, below the list of items in my Inbox, however some longer emails are better read full-screen, but is there a way to move to the NEXT or PREVIOUS message when viewing full-screen.....If it is a good feature for the iPhone, then I would suspect it should be a good feature for the iMAC as well.
Does anyone know if this is possible and what keystroke or shortcut might allow this, if there isn't a button on the toolbar to support this?
    Thanks,
    grantmacuser61

With my large monitor, this is not a problem, but also having an iBook, I understand your question.
With my iBook, my method would be to look at the message in the message preview pane, and then double-click from the list to open it up in a separate window. In this fashion, F9 to invoke Expose, will let you toggle between both (or more) windows.
To transfer from the full screen view, click on Message in the Menubar, and choose Move To or Copy To from the resulting contextual menu, and then choose the target mailbox. Or toggle to the other mail window, select one or more messages in the message list, and control-click or right-click and choose Move To or Copy To and select the target mailbox. I find this much more useful (and less prone to mistakes) than drag and drop.
