Following Beginner's Guide, but one command is "not found" - alsact1

I'm following the Beginner's guide and doing everything exactly as it says. However, when i get to the Sound Card setup instructions (using ALSA) one of the commands it is telling me to use returns the error "-bash: alsact1: command not found"
I have done everything exactly as per the directions. According to the instructions, this command saves the mixer settings so that on boot-up, the volume levels are as they were previously.
I wasn't able to create the file that "alsact1" is supposed to create, but upon boot-up, the sound levels appear to be as they were last time. so everything works just fine.
Should I just forget about the "alsact1" command and move on? Anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix? or is it a typo in the instructions?

The last letter is an L, not a 1
ie ALSACTL rather than ALSACT1

Incomplete Install After Following Beginner's Guide [solved]

If you look at my join date, I've been here longer than most (absolutely not a claim to being a guru or anything, in fact in many ways, I'm still a n00b) , but this latest install was... interesting, to say the least. (wel, it's still ongoing)

I used the beginner's guide because there have been significant changes to the install process in recent years. Everything was going well until I rebooted, and there were no entries in grub. After thinking about it a bit, I wondered if there were no entries because mkgrub-config (I automatically generate grub.config) couldn't find a kernel. So I booted back into the install media, chrooted into my new install, and lo and behold, there was not kernel installed (yes I did use pacstrap to install both base and base-devel and used the "all" option)
This might not be a problem with pacstrap, or with the beginner's guide, but with the way that these meta packages are arranged, I don't know.
So I installed a kernel, generated grub again, and rebooted, to get the old "you're on your own, pal" message, because init wasn't found. So, I rebooted back to the livecd , installed sysv-compat, and full of optimism "this is finally over with!" booted back into my new install. Still no good! For some as yet unknown reason, I can't use pacman to download packages. (Failed retrieving error) I know that I setup my network during during the install process, so my first instinct is to ping my router. No good! Ping isn't installed either!
I know that there are other steps I can take to find out what my network problem is, (if that's what it is), but I think that something has gone wrong if ping isn't installed during the install process, let alone the kernel. And isn't sysv-init unnecessary these days? I can probably solve these, and as yet unknown problems that will almost certainly arrive when I fix those, but I am running out of time, so I'm writing this post instead. Did I miss something? Is it just me? Or is the install process broken?

My drive setup is kind of confusing, but /dev/sda1 is / and /dev/sdc1 is /home. I don't use a separate /boot partition. During install, I verified that I was mounting the correct partions/drives before using 'mount /dev/sda1 /mnt /bin/bash' and used a similar command to mount /home inside of the already mounted /. During the install process, I used 'genfstab -L >> /etc/fstab', (this command was new to me) or something like it. I verified that the generated fstab looked sane to me (that the boot order was correct, it used the proper labels).
Now, in my new install, "df" shows that /dev/sda1 is root (as it should be), and that sdc1 is /home (also as it should be).
mtab says (among other things) "/dev/sda1 / ext4 rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode620,ptmxmode=000 0 0" (there may be a typo because I'm typing this on my wife's laptop) the options listed for sdc1 are /hom ext4 rw,relatime,data-=ordered 0 0
My fstab entries look something like this: LABEL=rooty / ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 1
My directory tree seems to be in order, /bin has binaries in it, /home has all my old files in it.

You probably will need to force-quit Word. Go to the Apple menu, choose "Force Quit", locate and select Word in the list of applications and click the "Force Quit" button. You will of course most likely lose any changes you made to the document since you last saved it (or it was auto-saved, if you have that option turned on in Word).

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or take the phone into an Authorized Apple Service provider.

It may be a corrupt / damaged download...

I have read several posts, but many have problems with old purchases and new computers. This is a purchase I made today. I have tried deleting the SC file, and made all changes suggested by iTunes web site and other suggestions. Anybody have any suggestions I may have missed?

Appletviewer command is not found (URGENT)

I am using Fedora Core 4, When i installed FC 4, I have installed all, so it has installed java in /usr/java/jdk1.5.0_04 also. After that i have installed sun jre in /opt/jre1.5.0_06. also i have installed jdk1.5.0_06 in /usr/local
but swing and applets are not working.
After that i have started to compile Applet program, but appletviewer is not found. so i went to /usr/local/jdk1.5.0_06/binappletviewer command is not found (URGENT) and tried to compile appletviewer but it has given me the following errors, please help me what should i do? I guess i have to set CLASS PATH. but how and where?
If i am in /usr/local/jdk1.5.0_06/bin. then Applet is poped up but not initialized,

After I have wait for 30 minutes without do anything, the wifi interface worked.
I don't know if Apple could fix the issue on their site or the reboot of the Iphone solved the problem.
I'm installing IOS 6 on the Iphone 4 of my wife. Let's see if the behaviour is the same.
I will post the informations after finish the installation.

But does occur even when acceleration, all extensions & add-ins and themes are disabled. I have also reloaded firefox 4. Any other ideas?

If the problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode, restart again in that configuration and then in the menu which appears, checkmark the option: "Disable All Add-ons". Then click the button called "Make changes and restart".
Next, re-enable your add-ons one-by-one until the problem recurs. Then you'll know which one is the culprit.

Cmd command "Tasklist" not found.

I'm running Windows 8.1 and I've been having issues playing League of Legends, so I sent a support ticket to Riot Games, and they told me a list of information that I needed to retrieve to help them identify the problem. One of the steps they asked me
to complete was send them a process list through the cmd command tasklist /v > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\Process.txt"
I pasted the command to the cmd and it came up with an error message reading "Error: Not Found" I ran the cmd in admin mode after this to see if that would work but to no avail. Is there a way to fix this error, or is there another way to
compile a process list? Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure why this is not working.
As a work around, You can grab the list of processes using process explorer.

I took a back up using UJBR T.code and I have checked the back up whehter its properly come or not ..but I did not found BUsiness rulus when checked wtih T.code UJFS. But business rules not found.
pls advise me wher can i found back up of business rules.

Hi,
Just checked my old backup file and you are right. It does not have the business rules. One reason I can think of is they are not part of UJFS structure and in fact uses a table driven. All the rules can found with the tables UJP*.
You can print them into html and copy into an excel. From there I think you have to manually copy into the target system. If you are using transport route, you do not have worry as the transports cover the table driven rules with the required config in the UJT_TRANS_CHG table.

Mac OS X Flash installs, but plug-in still not found

I've uninstalled the older flash (which wasn't working on several sites) and downloaded Flash 10.1. It downloads and seems to install fine - I get the message saying "installation complete" but I still get error messages on the sites that use it saying the plug in is missing. I also tried the Adobe test page and it says the plug in is not found.
I'm really a newbie on the mac, so any help is greatly appreciated!!

I have the same problem on my iMac. I downloaded and installed the program. Nothing (visible) happens....I also read the answer: to restart the computer...but the Flash-10 player is still invisible on my iMac, and the (hidden?) app. does not work. By the way, in my opinion, it' s odd that I don't see the Flash.app in my program files!?! What is the problem with all that ? Has anyone the ultimate solution? Thanks in advance!

My iPad doesn't appear in iTunes. I have followed the Apple troubleshooting guide, step by step. I have rebooted both devices, checked that I have a USB 2.0 and still it doesn't appear under devices. The iPad shows as a camera in iPhoto and downloads the photos but doesn't show as a device.

Do you have a PC? if so, go into the control panel, look for the add/remove programs. Look for one named something like 'apple mobile device support'. remove it and restart your computer. then plug your device in and see if the driver installs.

My ipod nano doesn't show up in itunes..."could not be identified properly" . i've followed the troubleshooting guide, but nothing has worked. please help.

It sounds like you are unable to sync your device to iTunes because the device could not be recognized properly. I do not know if this is the guide you are referring to, but I would recommend the troubleshooting from the following article to help troubleshoot what is happening named:
