Following book classroom in a book problems

I am following the book "Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 Classroom in a Book", but I find that certain things do not agree with what the book asks to do. For example on page 84, it is asking to choose window > CSS styles to display the CSS styles panel and then click header rule. I found out that this is changed in the program ( I thought the book came out after the program was written) and wasted a lot of time trying to find out how to do this. On page 88, it is telling me to choose Insert > Layout Objects > A P Div. Where can I find this?

First design and implement a class called PairOfDice, composed of two six-sided Die objects. Using the PairOfDice class, design and implement a class to play a game called Pig. In this game, the user competes against the computer. On each turn, the current player rolls a pair of dice and accumulates points. The goal is to reach 100 points before your opponent does. If, on any turn, the player rolls a 1, all points accumulated for that round are forfeited and control of the dice moves to the other player. If the player rolls two 1s in one turn, the player loses all points accumulated thus far in the game and loses control of the dice. The player may voluntarily turn over the dice after each roll. Therefore the player must decide to either roll again (be a pig) and risk losing points, or relinquish control of the dice, possibly allowing the other player to win. Implement the computer player such that it always relinquishes the dice after accumulating 20 or more points in any given round.
I realize this is a long code, so it would be greatly appreciated to anyone who writes this one for me, or can at least give me any parts of it. I honestly have no clue how to do this because our professor is a dumbass and just expects us to know how to do this...he doesn't teach us this stuff...don't ask. If you are genuine, the program is very easy to write, so, your Professor is correct when he said you should
be able to do it. I'm still very much in the beginner category at java, and it took me only 20 mins to write
(+5 mins to design it on paper). 2 classes in one file < 100 lines. Most of the regulars here would do it in half the time / half the lines.
All of the clues are in the description, break them down into their various if / else conditions. Write it down on paper.
Have a go. Try to achieve something. Post what you've tried, no-one will laugh at you, and you will be
pleasanty surprised at the level of help you will get when you've "obviously" made some effort.
Again, have a go. If you don't like problem-solving, then you don't like programming. So, you gotta ask
yourself - "what am I doin' here?"

Offline Address Book problem with Outlook

Hi all.
A strange issue is occuring in my company. Few of my users do not appear in the Offline Address Book in Outlook (in cached mode) but they do appear in the Global Address list in Online Mode or OWA. I have tried to delete the oab files from the local workstation
and downloading the OAB again with no luck. What I find strange is that if I open the udetails.oab file from the user appdata directory with a text editor then I can find the users in there !
So in short, if the Offline Address Book oab files include all users, why isnt Outlook able to find them ?

Well, I got in touch with Microsoft regarding this issue and it turns out that this is not an Address Book problem as such. The problem is that there is a certain size limit to the Active Directory user object. When that size limit is
reached, users stop to display correctly (or not at all) in the Offline Address Book. There is a Hotfix available for Outlook 2010 that overrides that limit and a Hotfilx for Outlook 2007 is expected in April.
The root cause is in our case that we have a certificate authority issuing user certificates. When users log on to multiple machines they get issued multiple certificates which pile up and finally their AD user object exceeds this
size limit. The quick fix is simply to remove the certificates from the user account in ADUC (Advanced Mode - Published Certificates). When the Offline Address Book has been rebuilt and downloaded all works fine and all users are displayed... The real solution
is to reconfigure the certificate templates not to reenroll new certificates if a duplicate one exists but that requires some considerations based on the needs of your environment.

that there were no certificates listed for the users at all.
Have you had any luck with a response from a Microsoft rep for this issue, or can you provide any further assistance?

Importing address book problem

Hi, hope someone can help.
I'm trying to import an address book from a Virgin pay as you go SIM into a Blackberry Pearl 8110. I can see the address book when I view the 'SIM address book' option and can dial out from here and the view is very basic not the normal BB address book view. But I can't SMS from this SIM address book.
I've used the wizard to try and import the contacts into the BB address book but it just imports the contact names but not the numbers. If I try and select oneof these names nothing happens, its like the address book has frozen. I also cannot open the menu option when in address book either unless I delete all the individual names that have been imported, then I can select the menu option.
I've also tried adding a contact from scratch on the BB but as soon as I save the data (just name and number) it again goes into freeze and I cant open that contact even though I have just entered it.
If someone sends me an SMS I can reply to it directly from the SMS, but cant create a new SMS taking a contact number from the address book. It just wont open the contact list.
I've just unlatched the BB so I can use it as a phone using Virgin PAYG credit I have.
Can anyone help with this contact address book problem?

Address Book problem with edit mode

Address Book problem!! Cant edit my contacts or delete them. Help!!
What can i do? Excuse my English.

Ever since upgrading to Lion I am unable to add notes to new contacts or to existing contacts that did not have any notes. Old contacts that already had notes work just fine.
Any suggestions?

My browser keeps trying to create new tabs on clicks though I've followed the directions to fix the problem, but it only works for a while.

Things will be working fine...then suddenly I start getting a new tab with every click. I've followed the directions to fix the problem, and usually deleting the mimes.pdf for a full reset works, but I'm getting tired of this. Everything is up to date as far as I can tell, and my virus and malware programs seem to find nothing wrong. I'm getting tired of this...help??

This might just be a typical Mountain Lion network glitch..
Reboot the TC.. that is usually enough to fix it.
Otherwise restart the whole network from off.. Reboot items in correct order.
Modem.. TC.. computer. 2min gap.
Tell us if that doesn't fix it.

My Ipod touch says i have to connect it to iTunes so i can restore it but it will not restore even after following the steps to fix the problem.

After pressing restore and after l5 minutes or so It comes up with the error 1611 and I followed all the steps but it still won't work.

Hopeful for soution to large travel theme book problems

If you search back through my old posts, you will see that I have been trying to print a 90 page travel themed book unsuccessfully for the last 6 months. Ultimately, the text would disappear in the latter pages of my books. Apple, of course, was useless in helping me solve this problem. I finally gave up when I got the following message "your order was cancelled for unknown reasons...please fix the problems and resubmit. So, on recommendation of many of you, I turned to sharedink.com to try to get my book printed. So far they have been easy to deal with and they actually answer the phone.
Here's the cool thing. Even with someone else willing to print my book, my pdf file was still missing text in the latter pages. So, I thought I would edit my pdf file and add the text back in. At this point, my book appears correctly on sharedink's site and it should print as shown. I'll let you know when I get my book next week.

Somewhat of a workaround. One user, Steve Porritt, found that he got more good pages by reducing the dpi from the 300 change that he had made. He eventually got all of the pages to show. Here is his post: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1250583#1250583.

Missing Metadata Presets when importing sample library following book

ISSUE: NO METADATA PRESETS available during import. (Aperture 3)
DESCRIPTION:
I have just installed Aperture 3. I am following the Aperture 3 book. When importing the sample Wyoming pictures into the Sample Library , I am directed to choose "basic info" as my metadata preset. I am not able to select "basic info" as a metadata preset. The drop down arrow only yields "none" and "edit". Edit is all grayed out.
I then tried it in the Main/real Aperture 3 library. I tried to import a few pictures from a a hard drive. Same issue. NO METADATA PRESETS AVAILABLE FOR IMPORTING INTO APERTURE 3.

Here is the answer for anyone who may hae same problem:
Delete the following files from Application (Aperture) /Support :
1: import Presets.plist
2:MetadataSets.plist
3:Metadata Presets.plist.
Removing these has restored the basic metadata presets.

Corrupted fonts Gone from Font Book / problem remains

_I have spent all day paying for the recklessness of installing fonts willy-nilly , I have now learned of font valication, and dozens of new things but, after using advice from Dr.Smokes' eBook & other sources, I still get such pages as the Apple start-up full of upside-down looking junk !
Can anyone help my addled, swollen brain, & point me towards the next step, or where to find it

1. You've not provided any of the useful details needed to help solve your problem. For example:1.1. What fonts did you install?
1.2. How and where did you install them?
1.3. What fonts have you since removed?
1.4. How, and from where, did you remove them?The people answering questions here are not clairvoyant. WIthout such details, there's little to nothing that can be done to help you.
2. If I assume you installed them via Font Book, and did not change Font Book's default preferences for where fonts are installed, then:2.1. The fonts you installed are probably in your Home > Library > Fonts folder. If so, either trash them or create a new folder on your desktop and drag all the fonts in your Home > Library > Fonts folder to such. Assure your Home > Library > Fonts folder is empty.
2.2. Then, clear your font cache: see my "Undoing Font Book" FAQ or the "Reset Font Book" section in my book.
2.3. Also, clear your browser's cache. If you are using Safari, then press Command-Option-E.3. If none of the above helps, or if you may have trashed system-related fonts, then the next thing I would suggest is performing an Archive and Install of Mac OS X. See either the "Archive and Install" chapter in my book or my "General advice on performing an Archive and Install" FAQ for some important tips on this process.

Buying a book - problem

I'm trying to "Buy" a book...it's assembled in my library and i click "buy" at the bottom of the page. I get an error message the first time i do this, which says "An Error occurred while contacting the Apple Online Store. Please try again."
I try it again, after pressing "ok" and it freezes up on me.
i checked my version and i do have the latest version of iPhoto. I restarted my laptop.
any other thoughts?

See if you can create pdf file of the book as described in this Apple document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it. If you can't then try repairing the library as follows: make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Calender booking problem

Is it possible to change calendar access to meeting rooms so that meetings cannot be booked [more...] directly into the calendar and instead the
room must be invited as a resource?
The problem we have is that users edit calendar directly and book over the meetings already in there.

Does it mean that the Free/Busy information for the attendees not changed?
By default, the F/B status of the changed meeting is unchanged if the meeting time unchanged.

Email/Address Book Problem Web Surfing Problem?

Hi,
I'm new to this group but I'm hoping someone here can help me. I have a PowerMac G3 running OS 9.2 and Internet Explorer 5 with SBC DSL. I do email in Internet Explorer and until last week it was great. Suddenly every time I try to get into my address book I get a blank page it freezes. If I try to forward or reply and click on To or CC and get into my address book that way, I get only a couple of address in teeny tiny print (like about 6 point) and I can't insert them. Now I also own an IBM laptop so I can do my email that way, but I'm finding this really annoying. I've called SBC twice and they say it's a browser problem and something in my browser needs to be reset and I should call Apple. So I called Apple and was told that my computer is "vintage" and they won't service it. So I'm out of options since I've done Norton's and all the things I know how to do and none of them have solved the problem. The girl at SBC had me lower the settings on the Norton's AntiVirus because she thought that was interfering with the internet but nothing has changed.
I'd be happy to upgrade to a newer browser but I don't think anything else will run with OS 9...everything I've looked at seems to require OS X which won't work in this computer.
Any ideas? Please help! Thanks!

Internet Explorer is not an email program but a browser. Therefore, I am going to assume you are using Outlook Express as your email client.
If you are not already doing so, you should be using the latest version of Outlook Explorer for your current OS system.
Regarding your email problem, as I do not use OE, until some knowledgeable users come in her who do use OE, suggest that you check out Unofficial Outlook Express FAQ & Outlook Express 5.0 For Macs as there maybe something in those links that may be of some help.
Also you are using a too old version of IE (Internet Explorer) version 5. The latest version for your current OS system is 5.1.7 which can be downloaded from the following link:

"WARNING:" Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and is not providing any further security or performance updates.
Accordingly, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac is no longer available for download from Microsoft.
In view of the above, strongly suggest that you install some backup broswers:

Netscape Browser Archive
Netscape v7.0.2
MacUpdate-NC v7.0.2
