Font appears as bold when published

hi all!
This font issue is driving me crazy..I have set the font to helvetica light on my site but when i publish the site on mobileme some sections appears as bold randomly. i have tried highlighting text and changing font type to helvetica light again but even though it appears as light in iweb when published it is still bold.
Is there an easy solution to this please?

I'm having the same issue as shannondasilva. Looks great offline in iweb but as soon as I publish my site the font appears bolder and thicker than it should. Very annoying and not consistent enough for Apple. Anyone worked out a way of making the font appear as it should without having to convert the text to an image, etc. I want my text to be found by google so it needs to remain as text. And yes I'm using standard Helvetica and Arial websafe fonts. Please can someone help here???

  • Some text appears bold when published.  Why?

    Hi.
I've used iWeb to create my very first web-site, but I have an annoying problem. On my links page, one particular block of text appears in bold when viewing on a browser. The text is not bolded, though, in iWeb.
    http://web.mac.com/stevenrichardjackson/iWeb/bloggermepink/links.html
Look at the links on the right hand side, under the subheading "Apple".
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to make this text appear the same as the rest if the text on that page.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve.

Wow -- this is getting stranger and stranger...
I did what you suggested, namely duplicating the "Apple" links text box, deleting the "Films" and "Geekery" text boxes, repositioning the duplicated box into the desired place and re-typing the links. This sounded like a pretty good suggestion.
    However...
    Now have a look:
    http://web.mac.com/stevenrichardjackson/iWeb/bloggermepink/links.html
If you put your mouse over the "Geekery" links and move it around a bit, you'll see that the Xbox sites have a phantom space that appears and disappears depending on where the mouse is hovering...
The only explanation I can think of is that there is some kind of bug in iWeb's Publish function. Has this section of my web-site been published twice, and the second publish hasn't overwritten the first???
This might be way off mark, but what else could be causing this?
I have checked my file in iWeb, by the way, and there's no hidden text box or anything like that...
    Hope you have a suggestion.
    Cheers,
    Steve.

  • Why does text appear bold when published?

My entire web site suffers from text that appears bold when I publish. I have followed various other threads, changed typefaces, put in returns and tried a variety of "tricks" and although some people appear to have fixed it, there is no universal fix that I can find. Has anyone else had any luck solving this? It ***** because it makes the whole page look rather unprofessional. www.brain-storm.com is the site.
    Thanks

This problem occurred last night to me as well. I've been using iWeb for a couple of months with no problem. I added a blog entry and some photos last night and then published. When I checked out the site all of my text was bolded.
I'm new to Macs and iWeb so I struggled for hours last night and this morning to correct it. No luck.
Any ideas someone can suggest would be huge.

  • Random text appearing as bold when creating PDF from Photoshop CS5

Hi I am a relative newcomer to Photoshop CS5. I have been creating a document with a background image layer and a couple of text box layers. The font is set at Arial, italic, sharp. When I save the document as a PDF file, random words appear in bold. I have tried deleting these words in the PSD document text layer and retyping them but they still appear as bold in the PDF file. Interestingly when I save as a JPEG image the bold words appear as normal. Any ideas/ tips would be greatly appreciated. CS5 version is 12.0.4 and OS is Windows XP.

  • Why do my fonts turn out different when published?

On one of my pages I have the font handwriting dakota and when I view it on the internet it is arial. What do I do?

Hi David - when publishing a website on the internet you need to use 'standard' web fonts.
This is because the fonts are not 'embedded' in your webpages - the people viewing your website need to have the same font(s) installed on their computer as the ones you have used in your website for it to appear the same. If you use a non-standard font (such as Dakota) they will more than likely not have it installed on their machine and will see a substitute font instead (e.g. Arial, or Times).
'Standard' fonts are those common fonts which come installed as part of the operating system, be it Mac OS or Windows, and the list is fairly limited. Here's a link to a handy page listing them.
If using a non-standard font is crucial to the design of your website, then you need firstly to save the text in your particular font as an image file e.g .gif or .jpg, and then insert that image into the layout of your page as necessary - this way anybody's web browser around the world is simply displaying an image file and it doesn't matter at all whether they have the font installed on their machine or not.
    Hope this helps?

  • Error: cannot extract the embedded font 'WTNNGO+LiberationMono-Bold' when reading a PDF

I am trying to read a pdf file and I get the error: cannot extract the embedded font 'WTNNGO+LiberationMono-Bold'. Then some of the words are displayed as sets of dots, a dot per character. I have tried Adobe Reader 7 through 11 all with the same error. Apparently some fonts are missing. My OS is 64 bit windows 7.

Tell them to embed the font information into the PDF. You don't have the font on your system so as-is, the PDF needs it to display that font. With embedded font information, you don't need the font.

  • Question - Y do my fonts look slightly different when publish site to .mac?

I've created a website on iWeb but when i publish it and view it in safari the fonts look slightly different. It's hard to explain but they basically just look worse. Can anyone let me know why this might be and how i could fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

Quit iWeb, go to Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.iWeb.plist.
Restart your Mac, launch iWeb and republish.
You should really convert any text done in "copperplate" to an image. Otherwise it will be converted to an (ugly) alternative on any computer that doesn't have this font installed.

  • Flash .swf file not appearing in browser when publishing from iWeb 3.02

I have been working on a site for the last couple of months that i created in iWeb 2.0 and had successfully had small flash movies that I embedded via html snippets from code provided by numerous sources and youtube videos demonstrating how to get flash movies into one's site.
    The url is
    www.almafoods.com
Today i upgraded to 3.02 and had to make a change to the home page. The domain opened up fine with all the HTML code and .swf on the page exactly as I had it in version 2.0
When I now publish to a folder, first of all it doesn't copy over the .swf file unless I create a link to the file, but even when I upload all the directories to my ISP's remote server, the movie isn't not showing up in the browser. The html code file and .swf file are in their correct directories on my ISP's remote server
I'm baffled as to what is going on here as its the exact same domain that worked perfectly in 2.0 and this has peed me off no end
Does anyone have any suggestions or encountered the same problem in 3.02?
Any advice would be very much appreciated

Your .swf files are in the same folder as the widget-markup files.
Keep your custom files OUTSIDE the folder with the sitename iWeb creates.
iWeb will overwrite everything when it needs to do that, wiping out your custom files.
Put the files in a separate folder and determine the link to these files.
Read this : Using the iWeb HTML Snippet
Besides that, to display these tiny pictures I wouldn't use Flash.

  • Fonts appear in color when emailing to a commercial printer

I prepared a newsletter in Pages'09 with color photographs. I sent it as a PDF file to a commercial printer for printing hardcopy. I never changed the default on the text. Below is the response I received from the commercial printer.
When I open the file and convert it to cymk, the type is in 4 color also. See in your file if you can color all they type black only. In most programs on PC's the default black is in a combination of color.
You might have to make a new spot color black so that the type will separate as black only on my side.
Is there an easy way to make this fix???

    Hi emquad46
    Welcome to the forum.
+Menu > View > Show Colors > click on 2nd tab (sliders) > Grey Scale Slider > left most swatch is 100% black > drag that down to the samples grid below+
Click in the text and *Select All* +(command a),+ then click on the black swatch.
Resave any Styles you have used to make sure this is now the default color.
Pages is not ideal for commercial printing as you have found out. Too much of this is manual and/or hidden from you.

  • Font is different when published

I published my site. I didn't like the bold look of some of the fonts so I changed the font and made a couple of other changes. The site then looked the way I wanted before re-publishing publishing.
I then re-published but the fonts are still look bold when I log on to the site. How can I correct this?

Some of those tips really helped - especially turning the text into a graphic - but how do you do it on blog summaries/Album names or on navigation titles? (put the 5% shadow on?). I love iweb but was very dissapointed with the fonts turning to bold versions. I have been a grpahic designer for years and am glad I could do web stuff because of iweb - so a small thing like it looking BOLD when published bummed me out! Anyone know how to edit/add shadow to the aforementioned elements? Thanks in advance....

  • Title to appear in bold

Is it possible to make the rows and columns to appear in Bold.
I mean , if in rows we have material and in columns we have po qty , then can we make the title appear in bold when the report is executed.

    Hi,
In EP also it is possible.
Dont insert your report directly into EP. Use WAD, insert your report. Before that hide your report heading in the BEx. Manually Enter your heading in to WAD HTML code and bold it. Save the web template and then publish into EP.

  • Fonts bolded on publish?

    Hey
Does anyone know why my iWeb pages have normal text when viewed in iWeb but most of the text suddenly appears to be bolded when I view the pages in any of the web browsers I have (Safari, Firefox, Omniweb...). I've tried trashing the preferences, logging into a new account, trashing the webpage and starting from scratch, but nothing seems to work. Most of the text does this but I have had a couple of text boxes that do appear normal.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I don't have a server currently so I can't post it for inspection.
I'd have to e-mail a copy of the page.
But the problem is as I said above. When I publish and then check in the browsers Arial Regular is thickened so that it looks like Arial Bold, Verdana Regular looks like Verdana Bold. The thickening is just slightly less than the actual bold for that text but it's very close to full bold size. The same thing happens with the actual bolded versions of all the fonts I have. They are all thicker than they appear in iWeb or any of my word processors. The extra size is throwing off my paragraph formatting forcing words onto the next line. It's bizarre.
I'm checking the html code but I can't seem to find what's causing it.
    Thanks for asking.

  • Fonts don't look the same when published...

why is it when i publish my site to a folder the fonts on some pages do not appear the same as they show in iweb...
    i have 8 pages...
home page looks fine just as in iweb...
the remaining pages have a bolder font and doesn't look nice...
i have checked and double checked every page and all fonts are the same...
    helvetica size 15...
    why is this happening...?
    what can i do...?

In iWeb click on +Help > iWeb Help+. In the pane that opens you'll see a search bar in the upper right corner. Copy & paste the following into it:
If text or a shape gets converted to a graphic
...and hit Enter. That same phrase should appear in the resulting list of +Help Topics+. Double-click it.
Follow the steps outlined under +"To identify items that will be converted to graphics when published:"+
...Do yellow badges appear on the text you're having problems with? If so, your text is being converted to graphics — to view the fonts least likely to be converted, click the Fonts button in the lower-right corner. In the Font panel under Collections, click Web.
On the other hand, if yellow badges don't appear then this may apply:
+"...my text boxes were too small, so a lot of my formatting got messed up when I published the site."+ — Quoted from this old thread:

  • Keynote PDF output: fonts appear "bold", milky background

    Hello,
we observed two problems when exporting a Keynote presentation into PDF ("export" and "print" exhibit the same behaviour):
    (1) when opening the PDF in Preview, the medium-size fonts appear to be "bolder" than in the presentation, small fonts look OK. We have tried several fonts (e.g. Trebuchet), the effect seems to be independent of the font. Colors look exactly as in the presentation.
    (2) when opening the same PDF in Acrobat 8 Pro on either Mac or PC, the fonts look OK but all colours look as if through a "milky glass layer". This is an effect which is probably related to some color space conversion.
A similar topic was discussed last November, but no satisfying solution was presented. Many thanks in advance for any help with this.

It doesn't seem to matter what the Registry/Ordering is - I still get the error. I do recall that setting it to something known like Adobe and Japan1 had other effects, though, such as incorrectly chosen glyphs, though those could have been related to other issues we had at the time.
Since any value seems to prompt the issue, it leaves me even more confused as to what could be the root of this problem. Distiller seems to bypass embedding CMaps by using the "Identity" encoding and simply writing the glyph indeces into the text stream. Does Preflight just not like embedded CMaps?
I have uploaded a sample document to acrobat.com if anyone wants to take a look. It has several changes from the original description, in an attempt to root out the problem. Here is the URL:
    https://share.acrobat.com/adc/document.do?docid=4284cd55-d710-411f-8a91-51359564a78b
    Thanks again for any help.

Are there any situations I should be aware of in which this isn't the case? If that statement is true or generally true, that is good news, and will make me feel a lot more OK about this process.
