Font Book Auto-Activation for Adobe CS3?

Font Book's Auto-Activation does not work for me in my Creative Suite 3 applications. I have read articles where people didn't have a problem with it, (i.e. http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/creative/2007/10/leopard-creative-suite-3/index. php?lsrc=mwrss ) so I assume it works somehow. All of my programs are updated.
Any ideas?

In that article, the author says that fonts "activate quickly" in CS3 when he uses Font Book; I think he's referring to the fact that when he activates a font in Font Book, CS3 menus are updated almost instantly. This has nothing to do with auto-activation - which isn't working with InDesign CS3 at all.
On the other hand, I find it works in almost all my other programs - Word, TextEdit, whatever... (hmm, I think not Stickies - as if it matters - but I don't recall)

  • Type Lovers, is Font Book now fit for use?

When I installed 10.3 I was told Font Book wasn't a program written for graphic designers who use lots of fonts and keep them open often. So, I listened to the advice from some of the type gurus on these forums, got rid of lots of the fonts apple includes but I didn't need, etc., I bought Font Reserve and that has worked fine so far.
When I upgrade to Leopard, do I need to figure font management software into my budget ?
Any graphic designers out there with experience?...I mean I don't need thousands of fonts open at a time...but I do like to keep a healthy variety open and active...and what about programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign working with Font Book...do they play nice together?
    Thanks

    Hi
Whomever told you this was talking nonsense. How well Font management applications perform depend to a large degree on the quality of the fonts you have. 1st and 2nd generation copies of your font library should work well with any font management application you may want to use, which includes Font Book. Certain applications can cope better with larger and more complex font lists than others. How much resources in terms of RAM, CPU/Bus Speeds as well as hard drive are all factors that need to be taken into account. For example I've successfully installed (using Font Book) nearly 1,800 fonts, however it took Quark about 30-40 minutes to load with all that information. On the other hand I've installed between 30-40 fonts (Using Suitcase this time) and it crashed Quark on launch. That's because one of the 30-40 fonts was damaged/corrupted.
Of all the font management systems that I have used the best one by far is Linotype FontExplorer X (as already mentioned)
    http://www.linotype.com/fontexplorerX
The best thing about it apart from it being FREE is its ability to clear out system and application font caches, something other font management systems don't do.
    Hope this helps, Tony

  • Unable to resolve installation error for Adobe CS3 Web Premium despite referring to given solution

    Hi,
I own a copy of Adobe CS3 Web Premium from a few years ago that was bundled with my Fujitsu Lifebook T5010 on Windows Vista.  I wish to install the CS3 Web Premium onto my Acer Aspire X3990 desktop that is running on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 on 64-bit operating system type. However, the installer prompts the following error: "This software cannot be installed because JScript is not properly registered. Please repair JScript and then restart the installer".
Checking with Adobe website, I came across the following support page: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-2739-installer-closes-cs3.html
whereby it says the solution is to manually register the jscript.dll file. I followed the procedure exactly for that of 64-bit system, but then the following new error pops up when I enter in "regsvr32 jscript.dll" onto Administrator: Command Prompt on C:\Windows\SysWow64 : "The module "jscript.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80004005. For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search term."
One thing I note is that on the Adobe web link, the operating system mentioned is Vista, while I am currently running Windows 7.
Please help, as the few solutions I found on Google search are mostly repeated calls to ensure that the command prompt is run at Administrator level, which I already am doing so. I need something more than telling me what I had already done but not resolved.
I am asking the same question in parallel to the Microsoft Community page as well, as I do not know where exactly the issue lies with. I hope both sides can give a clear resolution.
I really need help in enabling me to use Adobe CS3 again, as my Fujitsu laptop that ran it without problems had since died off already.

  • System Requirements Error For Adobe CS3 Installation?

When I try to install Adobe CS3 Design Premium on my iMac (Intel Based) I get an error message while clicking on the setup icon. This is the message:
    "System Requirements Error
This software cannot be installed because the file
system of the OS volume is not supported."
I checked the Adobe website and my computer meets all the requirements and I have the most update version of Mac Os X.
Where might I find the file system of my OS? And why doesn't it work with Adobe?

    Greetings,
Is it possible that you have a copy that is made for Windows OS. Even though it's an Intel chip, unless you have a copy of Adobe made for Mac OS, it won't work.
I've run in to this before, that's why I mentioned it. I have Adobe CS3, all of the CS3 products, loaded on my Macs, and it is Leopard 10.5.5.
    Cheers,
    M.

  • Auto Update for Adobe on Mac

    Hi there,
I am trying to resolve the annoying updates that seem to pop up frequently for my adobe reader. Is there an auto update for Mac? I find that I am in the middle of working and I just am annoyed by the consistant updates that are popping up.

Hmmmm. Looks like I found the solution to my problem. OS X 10.8.2 seems to be Mountain Lion.
I had been trying to get it to download (though a weak signal on a WiFi router) for a couple of weeks. I finally got it to download tonight, currently installing.
After it completed the download, it showed the nubers instead of just the name. So, after it installs, I guess I will be able to update my iPhoto.

  • Medias for Adobe CS3 Design Standard/Premium (Windows) Volume License

    Hello,
We have volume licenses for CS3 Design Standard /Design Premium but no media kit for Windows, unfortunately. All attempts at finding this or buying it have failed. I've spoken direct to Adobe and the official solution is to upgrade to CS6 or Adobe CC! Which really isn't helpful. I've tried upgrading from the trial version of Design Std but that doesn't work.
    Thanks

I'm a bit confused...I saw your note above about not working with volume license keys, but I disregarded it out of optimism because it doesn't match my experience.
For our volume licenses, we get our our downloads via ESD (since CS3), and I was under the strong impression they were the same as the trial media (I believe the filenames and download URLs are actually the same?), but I guess I have not verified.
I wonder if the more likely case is that your volume license code is invalid or has a typo or something? On the other hand, you guys seem to have two data points (Martin and James) to my one marginal one ("strong impression"), so there's that. And I guess my experience with this is Macintosh based but it should not be platform-specific.
    Still.
I guess another possibility is to make sure that you're downloading the Design Standard installer instead of the installer for the individual products or perhaps the wrong suite package? I dunno.
I remain skeptical, but I realize there's not a lot of data to back up my skepticism.

  • My license for Adobe CS3 is not working?

Three weeks ago, I received the message that it seemed like I was working with a counterfeit version of CS3. That's not true, seven years ago I bought the total package and created an account on adobe. I am also in possession of the license code.
No problem I thought, I enter my serial number and I can go back to work. Not so! I get the message that the serial number that I have entered is not valid !!
I have a real problem, I have several projects, which I can not run now! Is there anyone who can tell me how I can solve this problem?

Because YM is your only problem, see Messenger for Mac Help for application specific help.

  • Standard MacBook enough for Adobe CS3

    Hi,
Thinking about buying my first Mac after 10 years of PC use. Is the standard MacBook enough to run Adobe's CS3 Master Collection? I mostly use Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver with occasional Premier Pro use. I also wouldn't mind switching from Cakewalk to Audition. Will the 15 inch monitor be enough?
    thanks

Yes. Max out RAM, however, for best performance.

  • The Perfect Computer For Adobe CS3

    Hey everyone, ...
I am planning on purchasing a Canon XH-A1 and I would like to edit using Adobe products; such as AFX, Premiere, Photoshop, and so on. My only problem is, having a slow computer. I wanted to ask some of you experts out there what you think the BEST computer for video editing would need to have. What are the requirements to faster editing. What I mean by that is after you edit something it take a long time to render. And if I will be filming in HD, ... it will be even slower. I was editing something for my church this Sunday and I was working on a "fast" computer, ... with like like 3 or 4 gigabytes of RAM and two duo processors, ... and it would take me about 3 hours to render 8 minutes in SD. After which one of the processors got fried from all the rendering.
I was thinking a MAC would be the best since I have heard a lot of good things about them. And that they have less problems.
Can you guys tell me the best computer or if not the best parts, and maybe I'll make it myself.
Processor(s), Video Card, RAM, and so on...
    Thanks for your time,
    KrickeT

Howard I understand that PCs are more customizable if you wanna call it that but, the problems come where you have a bunch of different parts made by different manufacturers coming together in a PC. Mac makes most of their computer parts therefore are less likely to crash or give you dumb errors, ... I wish I knew about Macs before I purchased my PC.
But I know this local Director and he uses only Macs and they are all like top of the line with huge dual monitors, ... everythings by Mac, ... and all his work is done in HD, ...
He isnt the type of guy that can afford errors during editing or slow rendering. The cool thing about Macs is that you can put up to 32 GIGABYTES of RAM in them, ... PC has max cap. of 4 GB.
Thats what I know, ... things might have changed.
