font color="2200cc" Podcast info. /font

Hello all,
I suspect the answer may well be my leaving yet more feedback for the +iPod touch+ team however I'm going to ask anyhow...
How does one look at the textual information that comes on Podcasts on an iPod touch?
cheers

Thanks Ian.
I just wanted to check that I hadn't missed it before I started complaining!

  • Does upgrade (free or paid) add podcast info?

Anyone know if either upgrade adds the podcast info that's available with center button clicks on the classic/nano?

If it does I can't find how to.
I'd be over the moon if someone could prove me wrong though.

  • 8.1.1 - podcast info box problem

    Just downloaded 8.1.1 -- Here's a problem that persists:
There seems to be no way to close a podcast info window once it's opened -- short of quitting iTunes. The info window sits there on top of everything else no matter what I do. In particular, there are no "window buttons" (or whatever they are called -- the buttons at the top left of most windows) that you can click. And there's nothing you can do under the 'Windows' tab. Nor does right-clicking have any effect. -Help!

Update: Searching around the discussions I found a fix involving resizing (adjusting display resolution in system preferences). I tried 5 or so different suggestions that didn't work (variations on the order in which you make the cahnges). Here's the one that finally worked for me. I opened iTunes, then I opened a podcast info box, then I lowered the display resolution (which caused the window buttons to appear!), then I restored the display resolution -- and the window buttons now seem to appear regularly as they should.
I'm surprised, though, that this wasn't fixed in 8.1.1

  • Podcast info on ipod touch?

    Hey guys,
Is there a way to bring up Podcast Info (the "i" under iTunes) to display show notes etc.? Just got my touch but cannot find out how to do this.
Also, there is just one FastForward speed correct? On a hour long podcast it is difficult to FF say a minute or 2.
    Thanks,
    RB

Ah! Thank you. I didn't even realize you could FF during a podcast without grabbing the scrubber.
    Thanks

  • Why is iTunes pulling the podcast info from my blog? Conflicting info.

Hi there. iTunes is pulling the title and description of my blog and listing it as the info for my podcast, instead of the podcast info I have in my feedburner account.
    My feedburner feed is:http://feeds.feedburner.com/pleasefeedrichamooi
    My blog is:http://www.richamooi.com/
Do you know why? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Your iTunes Store page is at
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/rich-amooi/id526262280
This is showing the info in the Feedburner feed: for example the 'Podcast Description' shows the contents of the 'itunes:summary' field:
'Romantic Comedies, Parodies, and Absurdities. All 100% Gluten-free.'
and similarly, for the only episodes, the 'itunes:subtitle' and 'itunes:summary' tags both read
'This was a radio commercial I wrote and voiced for Michael's Construction.'
and this is what shows in iTunes for the episode. The title, 'Rich Amooi', is the same in the feed and in iTunes, so I'm not clear what it is that you are seeing as wrong.

  • Does Podcast Info work with the new applications?

Now that Lyric functionality has been added with the paid upgrade, I'm wondering if this means podcast info is back?
I really miss this feature because I listen to a lot of NPR podcasts and its nice to be able to see this info.
Also, the iPod Touch cuts off the title of a mp3 file after a certain number of characters (older versions of the ipod scrolled across) so you usually can't glean very much info from a podcast other than the date and podcaster before the elipsis (...) cuts it off.

It doesn't look like it - how annoying!

  • font color="2200cc" How to properly upgrade to Leopard /font

Here's just a few tips + tricks for users to remember when upgrading their system to Leopard. I'm sure I'm missing some points and this has probably already been discussed but it never hurts to reiterate.
#1.) Perform a fresh install of Leopard and Final Cut Studio 2 on a blank zeroed-out HD. No archive and install or migration assistant. Reinstall all your apps from scratch and perform the necessary software updates.
Also remember to Repair Disk Permissions after every application installation.
Oh well I guess there's only one golden rule and it never hurts to have a backup of your old reliable system for those "help please deadline due this evening" situations which always arise when dealing with new OS.
Have fun guinea pigs I'm in the cage now. Every Final Cut Studio user is curious what bugs may surface with the new OS and posting your issues here in the forum is appreciated. It's great for users who may want to avoid issues until a patch is made but also remember to send your crash reports (if any) to Apple and send Apple a feedback report of any bugs that you may encounter.
So.. If you have any problems with Leopard and FCS2 please let us know here

YMMV, but upgrading was the 'proper' way to upgrade to Leopard for me...
That's what I have always done.
"Proper" is relative around here. "Waste of time" can also be used to describe the scorched earth upgrade/update method. Have I been just lucky? Not if you consider the positive outcomes of simply hitting the UPDATE button for (insert image of counting on my fingers) FCP2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 4.5, 4.5 to 5.0, 5.1, 5.5 to 6.0; OS9 to 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and soon 10.5 as merely lucky. Statistically, those are not blips in a continuum; they indicate 100% success.
Your mileage may vary considerably. My experience shows precisely that Apple's updating procedures function just as advertised. I love these discussions, just to get in there and argue with you guys while some of you rats hope I have I total meltdown on this OS upgrade. We'll be putting Leopard on our editors soon but no one has figured out who's paying for a new OS yet, might not happen till fiscal 2008.

  • font color="2200cc" Two problems with My Settings. /font

    Hello,
    1. I can't seem to shake the #38 from "+Other Details+" part of +My Settings+.
I noticed this recent thread (link) but it's marked answered.
Using the Ampersand seems to turn into &#38.
    2. I'm having trouble with My Location. Admittedly I have my iChat address in that field but also my location. However if I add "England" on the end, as I used to have before the recent updates, it errors? Does anyone know what the real limits of this field are or what is causing it to fail?
    Many Thanks
    mrtotes

    Hi Ali,
Thanks for replying. 38 is indeed the ASCII code number for &. I think this indicates that AD is probably preventing HTML from working in that field.
With regard to your suggestion; in IT Service terms that would indeed happily close the Incident however the Problem persists.
Given that I'm going to be stubborn and leave this open until it's added to the list!
    kind regards

  • font color="2200cc" WD MyBook Pro experiences. /font

Hello all, thanks for taking the time to read this.
Discussion on the WD MyBook Premium drive in this thread (link) seems to be reasonably inconclusive. The Premium differs from the Pro due to the FW800 connection and the fact that the Pro does not use WD's own software - hence the different thread.
My MyBook Pro has worked for many months like a charm booting my iMac G4 (FW400) following SuperDuper clones. It also works very fast connected to my Alu iMac 2.8GHz via FW800. However I am unable to boot this Alu Intel iMac via USB2.0, FW400 or FW800. This leads me to suspect that this isn't a WD drive issue but more an issue with booting on the Alu iMacs. I know some people have had success when a FW hub has been in the chain however I do not have such a device. I'd be interested to hear from anyone with their experiences of booting Intel (specifically Aluminium) iMacs from external drives.
I am fully up-to-date on software, iMac Update 1.3 applied, then 10.5.1.
    Thanks in advance.
    mrtotes

    Hi Rick,
Thanks for your post. The problem for me is that troubleshooting in isolation my drive works perfectly with two Macs but will not boot the third, implying an issue with the third Mac, especially given the early Firewire issues with Alu iMacs.
Rather than waste too many of my processor cycles worrying about it I think the WD will probably serve as a TimeMachine drive where booting is not required and I will procure another drive for SuperDuper/cloning use.
I'll leave this thread open to collect other's views.
    cheers

  • font color="2200cc" Apple USB Power Supply and Display Flicker /font

When charging my iPod touch using my Apple iPod Mains/USB charger the screen flickers gently throughout the charge. I've tried this on two entirely seperate power supplies (one in Wiltshire, one in Gloucestershire) and both are the same. I don't have immediate access to a different Mains/USB charger to try that though.
There is never any flickering when charging via my iMac and never noticed any issues charging our Nanos on the Apple Mains/USB charger.
Has anyone else noticed this or am I alone?
    cheers
    mrtotes

I'm living in the US and have the exact same issue. Regardless of the power source and cable (I charge through iMac G5, Macbook, and car charger with three different cables), the same problem is observed. flickering is evident when Safari is loading page when brightness is at the lowest with or without being connected via cable.
However, I sometimes can't replicate the problem when not on cable. I'm trying to find what's causing it but not clear at this point. I talked to Apple support but the guy on the phone couldn't figure out what's causing it and recommended me to go to see genius.
I hope this is a software issue rather than hardware.

  • font color="2200cc" Edit Feature /font

I fully understand the reasons behind not allowing editing of posts after 15 minutes but it occurs to me that the check-box and the "Message was edited by: mrtotes" which can be appended to the main post looks like a feature that should be available at any time. That way corrections or minor additions could be added beneath the affected post at any time.
At this time the "Message was edited by: mrtotes" seems to be superfluous as it offers no more value.
I wondered if this was on the list of things to do?
    cheers
    mrtotes

My main point is that is it is either a redundant or half finished feature.
Actually I think you get 15mins from each time you click post. That way you can get longer so I'm not sure it's a L4 thing. I know I've finished writing one post 25minutes after I first posted it and I agree that it should record that time that the edit was made.

Personally I use edit time to check and correct links and proof read my English.
Partly my own fault I tend to use a fair amount on HTML and inevitably make typos (especially when I hit the " rather than 2 on the PC at work etc). 2058 BST

I'd also quibble the wording. It suggests it's going to time stamp it but actually that's left to the poster. "- this indicates when changes were made and by whom.".

    - Thanks Ali & ~Bee - but I'm still editing this message 58 minutes later (2136 BST)

Ali, Yeah I think Rick's point is that I proved you wrong (sorry!) in my post apparently but not actually an hour before you posted. It's confusing for the OP and could be abused. Posted at 2153 BST (1hour 15 minutes)

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9409615&#9409615
In response to the thread above because I've left it too long to reply... I've recently got back from two weeks in Tanzania climbing Meru (4560m) and Kili (5895m). I spent a total of 9 days above 3000m (the stated operating limit of iPod touch/iPhone) and the iPhone functioned correctly (it turned itself off once at 3400m on a day I'd climbed 1000m vertically but turned straight back on and worked) and I used the MotionX GPS software to keep track of my route at various points. I also took many photos and video throughout the days.
Of course using a device outside it's spec is at your own risk but was fine for me.
I'm out in the Khumbu region in October and will spend about 16 days above 3000m then.
The iPhone draws battery power so much faster than the iPod so I was very low on power by the end but using a PowerMonkey eXplorer greatly extended the battery life.
    Anyone else had any experiences?
    mrtotes

My colleague took his to Mt. Blanc.
    Worked fine.
I've found many things I own work way beyond the posted specs.
He also took it to Antarctica. Cold as ** and it performed fine there too.
The coldest mine got was playing hockey - cold, but not the pole!

  • Can I get Podcast Info on my itouch?

Just got an itouch for xmas. My old nano had a feature when I pushed the center button while listening to a podcast, I got the info on the podcast (author, topic, and a paragraph on the subject, etc.) basically whatever the podcaster put on there. With the itouch I cannot seem to get this/find it anywhere! Also, I cannot even see the whole title on these podcasts where as on my old nano it would scroll across the screen to see the whole title. Are these features I have given up with the touch? Hope this makes sense as this has been driving me crazy since I got it! Thanks!

yes this feature was removed. Please tell Apple to add it
