Font color changes when I export to pdf

I'm using Pages 08 still, and I'm creating newsletters, should be simple enough.  But when I export to pdf, there are portions of the text that change color.  For example, I have white text and a brown background, and for some reason the text changes to black.  The Pages document still shows it as white, it only happens with the exported pdf document.  I triend deleting the brown background layer, re-exported, but the font color still changes.  Thoughts?

You have not said what version of Pages '08 you are using nor what version of OSX.
For problems like these usually simply updating both Pages '08 and the version of OSX to the latest versions, fixes the problem. That does not mean upgrading to Pages '09 or OSX 10.8.2, just the latest of those you have installed.
Failing that you need to look at what color model your text is. Stick to the cmyk that OSX's pdfs use and avoid rgb which is screen color.

  • Font color changes when exporting to quicktime

    Hi,
I'm creating some animated text via LiveType; importing into FCE; and then exporting either as mpeg-4 (for youtube) or directly as a quicktime movie (to see supposedly the best video).
The font colors look the same between LiveType and FCE; however, when I export to quicktime (as a quicktime movie) or to mpeg-4 (h.264 encoder), the font colors look washed out. Both the .mov and .mp4 look about the same. So, I went back to LiveType and cranked up the intensity of these colors (looking pretty saturated in LiveType and FCE). When I repeat the export, the colors are still washed out compared to what I see in FCE and LiveType; but they are now probably acceptable in quicktime and web viewing.
Is anything thing I can do to make the font colors more consistent between FCE and an exported quicktime or mpeg-4 file? Can anyone suggest another converter that might be better at preserving font color? I've tried plain mpeg-4; h.264; etc.
    tia.

Thanks for the reply.  It was created using Apple Pages. I tried exporting to PDF in two different ways, both with the same result.
    1. Within Apple Pages, one can click File > Export > PDF
    2. The other option is to click Print > PDF > Save as PDF
I also tried this second method with Microsoft Word, and again the color was altered.  Any suggestions that you can provide to resolve this issue will be very helpful.

  • My font changes when I export to pdf, not on every page but only a few pages

I am using the font Helvetica, light in my iBook.  It looks the same on every page in iBooks Author, but when I export it to PDF some of the pages look like they are written with font Helvetica bold.  Can anyone suggest a fix?  Thank you

  • Why does my font color change when I add an image to InDesign?

Hello, I am doing a page layout in InDesign and I am using a light blue font for my title but when I add an image from Photoshop, the font color turns dark blue. When I open the InDesign file in Adobe Acrobat, my title is still dark blue. It's only when I make a PDF of the file in Acrobat and open it in the Safari browser that the title goes back to its original light blue font. Is there something I can do to fix this? Thank you!

Not a good idea. The flattened PSD has lost all its layers, adjustments, and effects. I hope you don’t need to edit it or change any layer’s visibility. Either that or you now have two files to keep track of and have neutered InDesign’s Edit Original feature. Better to take Peter’s advice and place the text above the image so it is not affected by transparency flattening. If you need the text below because you want the drop shadow to interact with the text, then use Overprint Preview (View menu) or Separations Preview (Window > Output) to get a more accurate view of the text colour.

  • Image border colors change when DOC convered to PDF

First off...I have Word 2007 and Acrobat 7 Standard on Windows XP. I tried a trial version of Acrobat 8 for converting PDFs, but it did not resolve all my issues to I'm remote connecting to another computer in the office to create my PDFs. I have to save my docs as 2003 .doc because 7 won't read an 07 .docx file
My issue is that when I take a .DOC file and convert it to a .PDF my borders on my pictures are going from black to black and yellow. It's like there is a yellow border with a black border on top or like a black border highlighted with yellow or something. It hasn't done this before and I've been doing things this way for a few months now. I can't seem to figure out what could have been changed as I have not changed any settings. I did do so Microsoft updates a week or two ago, but this is the first time anything has been affected. Any ideas?
I so wish the boss would get Acrobat 8 Pro. so maybe my problems would be resolved overall.

I have the same problem. I have created some tables from scratch in Word. They have default black borders, and some of the cells are shaded. Once the document is pdf-ed, some of the borders disappear, and also the vertical lines of some appear thinner nearer the top.
You're right that when you zoom a LOT (to 400% or larger), the borders ARE actually there, although the thin bits at the tops of the verticals are still thinner. However, my readers will be viewing at 100%.
The problem only seems to occur for cells which have a shaded background. However, I have shaded some cells to make my documents easier to read and they look lovely, so I really don't want to lose this nice design.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Color changes when exporting to PDF from Apple Pages or Word

When I export to PDF from Apple Pages or Microsoft Word, there is a noticable color shift.
The RGB color values that are 23, 76, 140 in Pages for a medium shade of blue like this but appear as 50, 61, 134 with a decidedly purple cast like this in the PDF.
Has anybody else run into this problem?  Any tips for troubleshooting?

  • Colors change when saving to PDF from InDesign

I admittedly don't understand color handling, no matter how much I seem to read about it. Lately my files that I've been exporting to PDF from Indesign have looked slightly different and odd to me once they're converted to PDF. Sometimes the colors are dull, sometimes the drop shadows are a weird grey... Here's the latest example. Perhaps someone has some wisdom for me here...
I created this poster in Illustrator. Here's how it looks in Illustrator:
Then I went into Indesign and linked the file. (this is strange...) When I display the file with "typical display", it displays as such:
That looks pretty good... But when I set the display to "high quality display", I get this:
This is also the result I get when I open the exported file in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Why the color change?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Thanks, Will...
So, upon investigating, I realized that my color space in Illustrator was RGB... Damn... I must have overlooked that... When I convert (in Illustrator) to CMYK, I get those strange colors again.
When I export to PDF, the Output is "no color conversion", so it's not being converted to CMYK yet...
Plus, I just linked the AI files in Indesign when I placed them in there.
So, Indesign must be converting the file to CMYK? And that's why the colors change once I convert to PDF? What do you think?
Also, I used InDesign to place the files so that I could create a 2-page pdf easily that the printer could work with. I had a 4-up handbills page in there that I was planning on printing as well.
So, if this looks best in RGB, what do you think about me sending an RGB file to the printer and then printing it that way? I've been told that RGB is no good for printing, but I've also read otherwise as well...
    Thanks again!!

  • Why does my font/text change when I switch from Classic 3D to Ray traced 3D in After Effects?

My font/text changes when I switch from Classic 3D to Ray traced 3D. Why is it doing this? Also, I cant get the font/txt to look the same after I switch from Classic to Ray traced. How can I get it to look the same?

I am pretty new to After Effects so I hope it's not my inexperience that's causing the problem. (It probably is)
I just updated to the most current version of AE.
    I am on a mac pro late 2013 12GB 6 core. Running OSX 10.9.4
Okay so after looking at it a little closer, I think the color is what mostly changes. The first screenshot is the what the text look like with Classic 3D and the second screenshot is what it looks like after I change it to Ray traced 3D. Also under the "Mode" section..the pull down that says "Normal" disappears. I'm wondering why the font color is changing?

  • Borders in Pages for Mac look blurry when I export to pdf

Borders in Pages for Mac look blurry when I export to pdf. How can I make a pdf or JPEG retain the sharp edges and smooth shadows when I export?

The ColorSync filters control the conversion between color spaces of files on the Mac and are used when you export or print to pdf.
The ColorSync Utility is inside the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder.
    see Alternate ColorSync PDF filters.

  • Color change when opening in Reader

Hi, I created a PDF in Photoshop. I then added an editable field in Acrobat, using the same RGBs. When I open the file in Reader, the color of the editable field does not match. Any suggestions on what I can do to resolve this?  I have the most recent version of Acrobat and Reader.
    Thanks,
    Jackie

Here is a screen shot of the reader PDF, followed by the original file in Acrobat. You can see that the entire document color changed when I opened it in Reader.
    THanks,

  • When I export a PDF the file opens larger than resolution so it is pixelated? How do I stop this?

I have created a Indesign document of 1024 x 768 and exported it as a 72dpi PDF. The PDF is only to view on screen.
My problem is that when I export the PDF it always opens more then 100%. So everything is slightly pixelated. To see everything in focus as I want it I would need to zoom out.
Obviously I want everyone to view it as I see it so how do I get around this.
I choose 1024 x 768 just incase someone wanted to view it on a Ipad. Should I have just created it bigger to over compensate of this problem. I guess on an Ipad the PDF would just be shrunk so the whole page could be viewed and I guess that wouldn't be pixated?
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Dan

Set the initial view in Acrobat Pro and resave the PDF there.

  • How can I make hyperlinks work in InCopy when I export to PDF without using InDesign?

I created an InCopy document with hyperlinks linking to other InCopy documents. When I exported to PDF, these hyperlinks don't work. Is there any way I can make these hyperlinks work without using InDesign? Thanks.

If it's for the web, why not export to JPEG?  Why PDF?
Terrible idea. In a JPG the text will not be alive, you loose all interactivity.
And making JPGs with InDesign is not what the program is meant to make.

Murray is right. Padding (and margins) is added to the width. However, when using percentages, you should never use figures that add up to exactly 100%.
Browsers need to convert the percentages to pixels. Because pixels must be whole numbers, some percentages are rounded up, which results in the final element dropping down below its neighbours. With percentages, it's much safer to use values that add up to 98% (99% often works, but 98% is safer).
