Font color of links cannot be used effectively
Under tools/options - content.
There is a button that allows you to set the color of used links. The color difference between new & used links is not enough for me on my system. Setting a usable color does not work on most web pages [mozilla's included] unless you uncheck the box that "Allow pages to choose their own color..."
Then when you do this, it screws up the entire display of Google, Mozilla, and others to the point where some buttons, check boxes, etc simply do not work.
What can be done to show used links with more contrast?
Try this extension.

Is there a way to change the font color on text links? The text becomes underlined when I select it for a link, but I can't seem to change the colour of the text.
any ideas?Do you want to change it temporarily or in the template - the first is fairly easy, but if you republish your page, you have to keep changing the settings. The second option is a bit more involved, but it's permanent. There you actually change the settings in your template.
However, I'd wait til next week when iWeb 2 arrives. Then you should be able to fix this without much trouble. -

You can enable ClearType system wide for all programs to make other programs like Firefox use it.

It took me several tries to figure out how to highlight the external drive icon the right way to get the file menu to actually show a Get Info choice. A double-click to highlight did the trick.
Just FYI, as with any type of file or object, normally it should only take a single click to select it in any view (desktop, or Finder window list, icon, or column view).

The external drive is a 1TB drive with 879.12GB left available. Would back up to cd or dvd be reasonable? Or would that require a rediculous number of discs?
It would require a ridiculous amount of discs. 1TB minus around 880GB of free space means it is currently using maybe 200GB or more. Backing up would take almost 300CDs or 43 DVDs. But the real cost would not be the discs, it would be the time to burn and then restore all those discs. And the discs would need to be burned cross-platform so that the Mac can read back the files. Also, since the drive is in NTFS format, it would be easiest to back it up using a Windows PC.
But here is another way to solve your problem. Instead of backing up and reformatting, you could download some add-on software to make your Mac read and write NTFS. (Apple does not include it due to licensing & fees & such, since NTFS is Microsoft proprietary.) If you install NTFS read/write software for the Mac, you can simply use the drive as is and not go through something complicated and time-consuming.
I am not well versed in using NTFS, but my understanding is that you can download software like Paragon NTFS (paid) to get this done. I have heard that there are free options but again, I don't know them very well. Until someone comes by with more info that I don't know, you can do a web search on "NTFS Mac" to research more about your options. You will find links to software and how-to articles. -
Changing font color site-wide??
Hi,
I am trying to change the color of my font and my links
site-wide. Is there any easy way to do this?
Thanks,
DavidYou would need to add those to a stylesheet that was linked
to all the
pages, not just in the head of a single document.... 8)

Font color problem upgrading from 1.3.1 to 1.4.2_02
I have noticed when we upgraded from 1.3.1 to 1.4.2_02 that JLabel font color is now black - it used to be blue. Does anyone know how to make the font color of JLabels revert back to the original blue without specifically calling setForeground() on each label?
Sun has changed in the class MetalTheme the method
JDK 1.3.1: public ColorUIResource getSystemTextColor() { return getPrimary1(); } into
JDK 1.4.2: public ColorUIResource getSystemTextColor() { return getBlack(); }
Just insert the following lines at the beginning of your main-method:
MetalLookAndFeel.setCurrentTheme( new DefaultMetalTheme()
{ public ColorUIResource getSystemTextColor() { return getPrimary1(); }
try{ UIManager.setLookAndFeel( "Metal" ); }
catch( Exception e ){ e.printStackTrace(); }
Now you have the old colors -
Re: (forte-users) How do you change the font color onwindow.StatusText
Hi Richard,
In the init method insert the line
<_StatusLine>.PenColor = C_BLUE ;
This sets the pen color for the widget.
StatusText is an attribute on the Window class that
holds the value of the text. This value is then
displayed in the specified data field that you assign.
Hope this helps,

Thanks in advanceAre you trying to change the color of the text that you have added using the "Free Text" annotation tool?
To change the text color to black
Tap the text.
Select Color... from the popup.
Tap the black button in the Color Palette.
Reader will remember the chosen color when you add a new Free Text annotation (the same type) next time.
Please let us know if that is not what you are trying to do. -

CS3/AS2 -Text Scroll Box Cannot Embed Font, Need To Link Font From Server??
Hi all - ok here goes somethin
So I bought a text scroller flash file and am now trying to tailor it to my needs.
This is it: http://activeden.net/item/dynamic-external-text-scroll-with-easing/2612
It is composed of several movieclips which link to the an external text file. The external file starts off with this
mytext= <font color="#000000" size="7">BACKGROUND</font>
This file determines the size and color of the font but does not define the actual font itself, it also contains the content. There is a movieclip within the flash file where you can denote a device font or embed a font from the properties panel.
Starting off I simply picked my font from the properties panel and used "anti-alias for animation". This seemed to work fine on the Flash preview and also once published online. However, once I used another computer to view my site the font changed and reverted to a default. This leads me to believe the font is linked to each computers font library. I am wondering if there is a way to override this and to link the font to a place on my server?
I also tried to embed my font via the properties panel but it looks warped and unrecognizable, so thats out. Unless there is another way to embed fonts that stays true to the font?
To add more fuel to the fire, the font I have to use is not html safe .. "Gotham" to be exact.
You can see the issue here on the 'about' and 'links' page
http://nicoleginelli.com/weeks/index_9.html
Help meeeeee!
- NicoleI tried this but the text looks warped and much different than it should. Seems anyway I embed it in the properties panel looks this way.. any other options??

Font color (using css) does not work on ImageHyperlink
Hello,
I cannot change the font color of an ImageHyperlink.
I am using a CSS style for ImageHyperlink.
The CSS style that I applied is working fine for font-size and background-color but not for the color property.
The behavior is the same on IE7 and firefox.
I would like to apply a different style upon the category of my hyperlink.
Is it a bug or did I miss something?
Thanks,
ValI am also facing the same problem. However, putting the styles in the Style property of the hyperlink works.

How to change font/ font color etc in a graphic object using JCombobox?
Hello
My program im writing recently is a small tiny application which can change fonts, font sizes, font colors and background color of the graphics object containing some strings. Im planning to use Jcomboboxes for all those 4 ideas in implementing those functions. Somehow it doesnt work! Any help would be grateful.
So currently what ive done so far is that: Im using two classes to implement the whole program. One class is the main class which contains the GUI with its components (Jcomboboxes etc..) and the other class is a class extending JPanel which does all the drawing. Therefore it contains a graphics object in that class which draws the string. However what i want it to do is using jcombobox which should contain alit of all fonts available/ font sizes/ colors etc. When i scroll through the lists and click the one item i want - the graphics object properties (font sizes/ color etc) should change as a result.
What ive gt so far is implemented the jcomboboxes in place. Problem is i cant get the font to change once selecting an item form it.
Another problem is that to set the color of font - i need to use it with a graphics object in the paintcomponent method. In this case i dnt want to create several diff paint.. method with different property settings (font/ size/ color)
Below is my code; perhaps you'll understand more looking at code.
public class main...
Color[] Colors = {Color.BLUE, Color.RED, Color.GREEN};
ColorList = new JComboBox(Colors);
ColorList.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ev) {
JComboBox cb = (JComboBox)ev.getSource();
Color colorType = (Color)cb.getSelectedItem();
drawingBoard.setBackground(colorType);
});;1) providing the GUI is correctly implemented with components
2) Combobox stores the colors in an array
3) ActionListener should do following job: (but cant get it right - that is where my problem is)
- once selected the item (color/ font size etc... as i would have similar methods for each) i want, it should pass the item into the drawingboard class (JPanel) and then this class should do the job.
public class DrawingBoard extends JPanel {
private String message;
public DrawingBoard() {
setBackground(Color.white);
Font font = new Font("Serif", Font.PLAIN, fontSize);
setFont(font);
message = "";
public void setMessage(String m) {
message = m;
repaint();
public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
super.paintComponent(g);
//setBackground(Color.RED);
Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g;
g2.setRenderingHint
g2.drawString(message, 50, 50);
public void settingFont(String font) {
//not sure how to implement this? //Jcombobox should pass an item to this
//it should match against all known fonts in system then set that font to the graphics
private void settingFontSize(Graphics g, int f) {
//same probelm with above..
public void setBackgroundColor(Color c) {
setBackground(c);
repaint(); // still not sure if this done corretly.
public void setFontColor(Color c) {
//not sure how to do this part aswell.
//i know a method " g.setColor(c)" exist but i need to use a graphics object - and to do that i need to pass it in (then it will cause some confusion in the main class (previous code)
My problems have been highlighted in the comments of code above.
Any help will be much appreciated thanks!!!It is the completely correct code
I hope that's what you need
Just put DrawingBoard into JFrame and run
Good luck!
public class DrawingBoard extends JPanel implements ActionListener{
private String message = "message";
private Font font = new Font("Serif", Font.PLAIN, 10);
private Color color = Color.RED;
private Color bg = Color.WHITE;
private int size = 10;
public DrawingBoard(){
JComboBox cbFont = new JComboBox(GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getAvailableFontFamilyNames());
cbFont.setActionCommand("font");
JComboBox cbSize = new JComboBox(new Integer[]{new Integer(14), new Integer(13)});
cbSize.setActionCommand("size");
JComboBox cbColor = new JComboBox(new Color[]{Color.BLUE, Color.RED, Color.GREEN});
cbColor.setActionCommand("color");
JComboBox cbBG = new JComboBox(new Color[]{Color.BLUE, Color.RED, Color.GREEN});
cbBG.setActionCommand("bg");
add(cbFont);
cbFont.addActionListener(this);
add(cbSize);
cbSize.addActionListener(this);
add(cbColor);
cbColor.addActionListener(this);
add(cbBG);
cbBG.addActionListener(this);
public void setMessage(String m){
message = m;

protected void paintComponent(Graphics g){

at.setToTranslation(getWidth()/2-tl.getBounds().getWidth()/2,
getWidth()/2 + tl.getBounds().getHeight()/2);//set text at center of panel
g2.fill(tl.getOutline(at));

Changing font color in a report using SQL query for APEX 5.0
Hello,
I am testing APEX 5.0 in my testing environment to see if I can migrate my internal apps from 4.2 to 5.0.
How can I change the font color in a field based in the SQL query? I know how to do it in 4.2 but I can't find the same in 5.0.
Thanks,Well, I used to put the html tags in the select as text getting the color value depending a CASE , then I had to change the Display attribute for the column in the report as "Display as text (espace special characters...)".
I found an old post here: https://tylermuth.wordpress.com/2007/12/01/conditional-column-formatting-in-apex/ and this method still worked for me in APEX 5.0
Thanks anyways -
