How do I decrease the font on my display, I clicked something and now it's huge!

Check System Preferences->Universal Access/Accessability and ensure that you didn't enable zoom.

  • Font Display Size in Browser

Using the increase font function in Firefox, the fonts on my website increase in some text boxes and not in others, and I can't figure out for the life of me why.
All of the text is in various text boxes, yet text size in some boxes increases while text size in others does not. As far as I know, I created all these boxes in the same manner.
    What gives?
I would like to do one of two things: (1) either fix the font sizes in EVERY text box (so it does not react to increase/decrease commands), or (2) make the text in ALL boxes increase/decrease, with the text boxes stretching to accommodate it.
I can't find anything about this in iWeb help.
    Help!

In Firefox, text entered in a text box without a shadow etc. will increase/decrease. Text that is converted to a graphic, such as that typed in a shape, will not.

  • Firefox not displaying fonts and sizes properly

In firefox the fonts are not displaying properly they are either bold or small and bold some text is displayed normally but most is not most is either really small or bold. This is also the case for IE, im on windows 7 running latest versions. However Chrome, Opera and Safari all display correct fonts and sizes it is just firefox and IE that are affected. And yes everything from font size to page size is at default so please dont reply with zoom in and out thanks.

Hey thanks for the reply. Not sure which one of these worked nothing changed until I restarted firefox.
You can try different default fonts.
    Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
[ ] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can also try to disable hardware acceleration.
Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
But it is back to how it was thank you very much!

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode.
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
You can use one of these extensions to adjust the default font size and page zoom on web pages:

  • Poor Fonts Display in PDF

I am trying to figure out if the font display problem I am having has something to do with Fusion 4 (v15.0.5) Acrobat (vCS5.5) or Mac OS X (v10.8.3). I am using an iMac 27 inch.
When I view fonts in other applications (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, TextEdit, MSWord, etc.) they look fine at any distance on screen. But when I generate a PDF, either from with the application or via Acrobat Distiller, they look poor on screen at reduced or 100% of size. Sort of jaggedy but not truly jagged. When I zoom in really close the fonts look fine. I am primarily using Open Type and Postscript fonts. But this happens with any fonts. They are embedded and it prints out just fine. When I view any PDF documents downloaded from the Internet, it is the same things. Just the screen display is bad.
Any ideas how I can resolve this?

Check what you have set for: Acrobat > Preferences > Page Display > Smooth Text

  • Safari 3.2.1 With 10.5.6 Update = Corrupt Font Display

Since updating to 10.5.6, Safari is corrupting the display of certain small fonts, such as the "Compose" and "Preview" tab labels at the top of this Discussion "New Topic" window, and mail subjects in Yahoo web mail. The problem is more severe with small bold fonts. I have OS X's font smoothing turned off for font sizes smaller than 12 pt, and use the CRT smoothing style, as I prefer little to no font smoothing on my LCD monitor.
I've reset Safari, corrected duplicate fonts, validated all fonts, run DiskWarrior, FontNuke to clear all font caches, and even reinstalled the 10.5.6 combo updater; nothing has helped. If I make the font one size smaller, the corruption is mostly corrected. OmniWeb 5.8 has the same issue as Safari under 10.5.6; FireFox 3.0.5 & Camino 1.6.6 are unaffected, and render fonts as well under 10.5.6 as they did under 10.5.5.
I've booted my 10.5.5 backup to verify that Safari 3.2.1 and OmniWeb 5.8 had no font display issues before the 10.5.6 update. The 10.5.6 update was the only software change made on my system since the 10.5.5 backup I used for comparison.
Anyone else seeing strange font display in Safari under 10.5.6? I think you'd have to minimize OS X font smoothing as described above for the problem to become visible. I'm out of possible solutions, other than hoping for a fix in 10.5.7.

Well, for the time being, I'm just going keep 10.5.6, and use revised font smoothing settings: "Automatic" style, and "turned off" for font sizes 10 pt and smaller. The reason is that I did a little more investigating, and found that the distorted small font issue affects the entire system, including the Finder, not just Safari.
I checked my G4 MDD that's running 10.4.11 on two 23" monitors (1920x1200), and it has the same issue as my G5 running 10.5.6, if font smoothing is turned off. So, this is apparently a long standing OS X issue that, for some reason, never affected my lower resolution G5 system driving a 20" monitor (1680x1050) until the 10.5.6 update was installed.

  • Safari 5 display size?

Every time I open Safari 5 in Windows 7 Professional I have to Zoom in twice to get a suitable display size on my google.com homepage.
Even adjusting the two font sizes in Preferences/Appearance has no apparent effect.
Also, what's the simplest way to return to my homepage?
    Thanks, Don

Thank you. I tried that but the pinch feature does not work for some reason. There could be some other problem in my general settings but short of doing a complete reset I looked and tried everything to remedy the problem. I am relatively new to Mac world so maybe I am overlooking some other obvious solution. One thing I did do is to download Opera which seems to work better as far as page display goes. Pinch function works but I cannot make the page stay the smaller size I pinch to, page stretches back to original size the minute I take my fingers off the screen!

  • How do you know the best iMac display size

how do you know the best iMac display size
Only on them fits in the screen window and that makes the font so tiny.  The others are too wide or too tall.  I usually view at 150 - 200% for vision issues.

You say it's better to do the Media Browser?  I'm fairly new to movie, dvd and garage band.  How would I go about using the Media Browser instead of straight to iDVD?
Select Your project - go up to Share - Share to Media Browser and as Large (Not HD)
In iDVD select a nice theme - click on Media button - click on Movie - Select Your movie.
NOW - Save as a DiskImage - and test this before burning DVDs - if this Plays OK then either burn the Image by using Disk Util tool (and set down burn-speed to x4) - or burn via iDVD (will take more time)
I want to keep as much quality as I can.
Then don't use iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - as they all discard every second line resulting in less quality on the DVD. I use iMovie HD6 or FinalCut any version.
Also...I tried to split my project in iMovie...but couldn't find a way.  I wound up just making a copy and then deleting out a handful of scenes from the copy...I still have the original at 4:12hrs.  Is there a way in iMovie to split a project?
I would make a copy and cut away a bit from the end - calling this Part 1 and from start of the other copy Part 2.
OR - there are other programs that can squees in more to a DVD e.g. Roxio Toast™ - BUT this has two cons.
    • It costs - to me it was well spent mony as it can so much more e.g. back engineer a DVD to an editable form
    • Squeesing in more on a DVD - costs in QUALITY - and as You want as much as it can be - then 90 minuts portions encoded with Pro-Quality encoding and full quality interlasced material from a video-editor that delivers this is the way to get 100% of what DVDs can do.
DVD is as standard only SD-Video - HD not possibly. Then You need Blu-Ray. (also Roxio Toast™)

  • For which display size is Labview 2012 optimized?

    Hi,
I have a lap top with a high resolution (1920x1080). After I installed Labview2012, on some of the dialog boxes, ex. Tools->Options (see attached image) not all text is shown completely.
Also, when I opened VI designed for a lower resolution display I get overlapping on labels and controls.
Can anyone tell me if this is due only to the display resolution or also the Labview? And to what display size is Labview2012 optimized?
    Regards
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It looks to me like you've set windows fonts to Large, casuing labels to increase in size.
From LV 8(?) to 2009 (or is it a windows thing?) the standard font increased from 14 to 15 causing some mess in block diagrams.

  • Using Group Policy to Set Windows Font DPI size

I was in need of a way to change the Windows 7 user interface to use the Font size of 100% (vs the default of 125%) for custom applications on our network.
Many searches on the net did not provide an easy way to accomplish this via Group Policy. The font size is PER USER and not PER MACHINE.
I found a method using Group policy preferences (GPP) to configure the Font DPI size and wanted to share it for others who might need to do the same...
I created a new GPO for the users needing this font size and linked it to their OU. Then configured the following:
User Configuration \ Preferences \ Registry (Right click and select NEW \ Registry Wizard)
Configure the following DWORD key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\LogPixels
    Use the values as needed:
    00000060 (Small Font Size 100%)
    00000090 (Medium Font Size 125%)
    00000144 (Large Font Size 150%)
I used 00000060 to set the Small Font Size of 100%. Gpupdate /force a test client machine, then logoff/logon and see the setting take effect.
When users try to change the font size in via the control panel, the value will be overwritten the next time the group policy updates. Id even recommend preventing users from being able to change the font dpi with another GPO setting:
User Configuration \ Policies \ Administrative Templates \ Control Panel \ Personalization \ Prohibit selection of visual style font size = Enable
Just wanted to share this for anyone needing to change the Windows 7 default font DPI size en mass using Group Policy. We can thank Microsoft for not giving us a ADMX template for this issue!!!!
    Drumgod
    me

User Configuration \ Policies \ Administrative Templates \ Control Panel \ Personalization \ Prohibit selection of visual
    style font size = Enable
This policy setting states that it is supported on Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 operating
    systems only.
The description on this setting says that it disables the "Font size" drop-down list on the Appearance tab in Display Properties. This does not exist in Windows 7. I don't think the DPI setting you are talking about is the equivalent.
The other setting is good to have enough. Thanks for the tip!

  • Fonts and sizes

I have a new iMac 27. I've managed to mess up all the fonts and sizes trying to fill the big screen. Anybody know what the factory settings are?

If you mean with respect to the Desktop settings, the easiest way to find that out is to create a new admin user account, log into it, click on the Desktop, and CMD+J will display the default settings. Log back into the account you mucked up and reset them to those values using CMD+J again.

  • When creating a new DPS should I use sizes offered by InDesign or the display size of the device?

    Hello all,
When creating a new DPS, should I use the sizes offered by InDesign or the display size of the device?  I ran into this question when I was looking up the sizes of different devices and found that iPhone 5s, iPhone5c, and iPhone4s sizes differ than the defauly dimensions offered by InDesign.
Also, should I worry about the ppi resolution?  With iPhone, they all seem to be 326ppi but when dealing with other devices is this something that I should take into consideration?  Ideally, I could be creating DPS apps for all devices offered in the Digital Publishing drop down in InDesign (iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire/Nook, and Android).
Thank you for any help you can provide.
By the way, if it helps I am using InDesign CC.

Using 1024x768 and creating PDF articles will get you OK with both iPad resolutions, and, as Bob L. says, quite decent "one size fits all" result for all other devices.

  • Font Display Quality Bad After Update

    Hello all,
my font display is really bad since upgrading to Tiger. I have Font Smoothing Style set to automatic and have tried light and others but everything appears over-sharpened. For example, as I type this, the font has an extereme sharpening, so much so that I see highlights on the top edges of characters. Regular Verdana appears in both Safari and Firefox as bold, and bold looks black. All in all, everything looks awful. I am using an Apple Cinemascreen. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

I don't know FontExplorerX but check its compatibility with Tiger. You want to try disabling this font manager client?

  • Windows 8.1 forgets dpi / display size settings for one monitor on almost every reboot

    I use TV 32" with 1920x1080 and cintiq 13" with 1920x1080
when I boot my PC the resolution is fine but DPI is wrong.
In smaller monitor It's look like DPI is higher than the bigger one.
I already set dpi to be the same (smallest 100%) but it's not work until I do something to change display setting.
It's really annoy me. This problem is not happen when I use windows 8
Only solution I found is turn off
    "Turn on fast start-up".
When I do that It's boot like what I want. every monitor is the same DPI.
But it'll make my boot time longer.
It should be just start up windows and use the same dpi from the start.
So I think this problem is a bug in windows 8.1
    Best regards

    Thank you for reply.
I've already used the latest graphic card driver. But It's won't help this issue.
In registry editor. I check those variables then value of them is already set like that blog suggest.
So , it look like when windows start-up(with fast start-up) It use something like
suggest value for different monitor size instead of what I set in control panel. But when I turn off fast start-up windows use my setting value.
And I think there are a lot of people who got the same problem as me.
    Here is an example.
