Font file problem

I have a font file with .fam extension. Copied it in macintosh hd->library->font but cannot find it in textedit and font book.Tried to install using font book but cannot install as it is not allowing me to select the font. The font is to type bengali and the name of the font is geetanjali2k.fam.

It would not likely work anyway.  To type Bengali in OS X you should use Unicode fonts/keyboards from the links below instead of that legacy stuff:

    Fonts are handled by your operating system and installed through the respective System Control panel (Windows) or Fontbook (Mac). On Windows simply type "Fonts" in the search bar in the start menu and when you open the panel/ folder use File --> Add Font. On Mac the procedures are similar, you just need to find the Fontbook app in Applications:Utilities.

  • Printing Error: There is a problem with a font file.

    I get this error when I try to print:
    "Printing Error: There is a problem with a font file."
    I tried exporting to PDF and printing from there. I get this message:
    "An error exist on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."
    Has anyone encountered this problem?

    You may have a corrupted font. Try substituting fonts to see which one is the problem.

  • Msg. appears: "Problem detected with the font - in the font file $C.  quit all apps. and remove this font file ...

    Recently while browsing with TenFourFox 31.6.0 or reading an email in Thunderbird 3.1.20 with my PPC MacG4 with OSX 10.4.11,the above message pops in "  ... a problem has been detected with the font -, in the font file $C quit all applications and remove this font file or replace it with a new version". I don't know where to start, not ever having seen this message.  :-))  Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Raymon, it sounds like file corruption, I doubt there is a real font file called that.
    Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
    If still no change after a regular boot, then open Font Book in Applications & see if you can find it there, or have Font Book Validate all fonts.

  • Adobe Type Manager problem with Windows 7 and DIN font file extension not showing

    I have Windows 7 and for some reason I cannot install Adobe Type Manager onto my Computer.
    I need ATM to install the DIN font but am having no luck what so ever.
    I can see the DIN font in my Dropbox but it is showing up like this:-  ._DIN-bold, no file file extension. what am I doing wrong? is it Mac?

    Adobe Type Manager absolutely cannot be installed on Windows 7. In fact, even attempting to install it may corrupt your operating system installation and its ability to properly render Type 1 and OpenType CFF fonts. The last version of Windows for which ATM was at all compatible was Windows XP, 32-bit only!
    Adobe Type Manager is not at all necessary to install fonts, even Type 1 fonts, on Windows 7 systems. Right click on the font file for TrueType of OpenType CFF fonts or the .PFM file for Type 1 fonts and select the Install option.
    The font file you are trying to install is for MacOS. It cannot be installed on Windows.

  • Can you help me with FontExplorer font activation problems?

    Anyone know how to solve a font activation problem I am having with FontExplorer 4.2? I am on a new mac with new fonts, I am using Maverick with Adobe CS6. With my new mac I bought the latest version of FontExporer Pro X 4.2. This program is having trouble with font activation in all my Adoble suite apps including Indesign. Here is what I am seeing:
    1. The font activates, but the Adobe app does not recognize that it is active. If I go back to Font Explorer and deactivate manually, then re-activate manually. The adobe app might then recognize it. Sometimes it still doesn't. But this does not stay permanently, as soon as I do a restart I have to go through this process again. I see this more often with the User system fonts, but a few times with my regular fonts.
    2. Other times, such as in Indesign, I go to open the file and the file stalls and doesn’t progress while it is trying to activate the fonts.
    3. Another time I have seen after an illustrator file is opened the fonts aren't recognized as being opened and the text goes blank on the page.
    4. In all adobe apps, if I go to use "replace font" on the missing fonts (even though they are turned on) the "replace font" menu only shows the basic system fonts, it won't show me the other fonts turned on.
    I have seen these issues with both formerly created files and fresh new files.
    I have tried the following based on feedback from Font Explorer staff:
    Refresh your Spotlight database
    1. Quit all applications other than FontExplorer X
    2. Choose Tools > Refresh Spotlight Database
    Clean your font caches
    1. Quit all applications other than FontExplorer X 2. Choose Tools > Clean Application Font Caches (check all available checkboxes)
    3. Choose Tools > Clean System Font Caches (requires restart)
    Still after trying this multiple times, the errors continue and even get more random.
    I have also tried this based on their feedback:
    go to FONTEXPLORER X PRO -> PREFERENCES -> ADVANCED and make sure that "Automatically deactivate fonts which have not been activated by the system" is NOT set to never.
    Then click on TOOLS and clean all font caches. Then reboot the system.
    The auto-activation is using a new Apple technology (called Core Text), which unfortunately does not work correctly with some of the Adobe and Quark applications when keeping the fonts permanently activated. We are currently working on an update, and the next version of FontExplorer X Pro will fix this issue.
    This has also not work. Can anyone help me?

    Here is the official work-around for this problem.
    1. Locate "FontExplorer X Pro.app" in Applications
    2. Right-click on "FontExplorer X Pro.app" and select "Show Package Contents"
    3. Navigate to /Contents/Helpers/
    4. Double-click "FontExplorerXLauncher-3.app" or right-click and "Open" to launch it manually. This is needed only once, afterwards the plugins will work normally.
    Please make sure you open the version with the "-3" suffix, the other one does not fix the problem.

  • How to remove a font file and its mapping from XML Publisher Administrator

    Hello,
    I am trying to remove a font file and its mapping from the XML Publisher Administrator. If this is not possible, is there a way to disable it?
    The reason why I am asking this is because we just got a new check printer, and I was able to print just fine. However, the MICR font was not coming up properly on the check, so I went ahead and configured the font with the XML Publisher Administrator. Now my check output is coming up blank after running the XML report publisher program. The only change I did was to upload the MICR font and mapped it.
    My template and rdf report file are working fine in another environment we have, so I know that's not the problem.
    Any help is appreciate it.
    Thanks.

    This is how you do it
    Font
    DELETE FROM xdo_lobs
    where lob_code like '<Font_name>';
    Font Mapping Set
    DELETE FROM xdo_font_mapping_sets_TL
    WHERE mapping_code like '<MAPPING_CODE>'

  • Font files showing up as 0kb exec files HELP!!!

    Hi all!
    My company gave me access to their font files that are stored on their server so I can work at home. After downloading them, I have hundreds of fonts that are 0kb and the icon is showing up as a grey exec box. I am unable to import the fonts in either Font Book or FontExplorer X Pro, and I am at a loss as to what to do next.
    I can't find an answer anywhere. PLEASE HELP! I'm practically in tears over this. I don't want to lose this job.
    Thanks.

    Julie,
    A little late, but I hope you haven't lost your job yet.  We just had the same problem.  For some reason if you just drag a fonts folder to your computer a lot of these files (especially older fonts) will show up as 0kb or empty exe files.
    To solve this issue, compress the fonts folder you wish to copy (right click with mouse and choose compress from the menu).  This makes sure all fonts are saved in their original state.  Then drag the compressed folder to its new destination.  Once there, uncompress the folder and drag all your fonts to your fonts folder.  Presto all your fonts are there!

  • Loading font file in JWS. Urgent: please help!

    Hi everybody,
    I have my own font file which I use in the GUI. First I create the font:
         myFont = Font.createFont(Font.TRUETYPE_FONT,           new FileInputStream("myfont.ttf"));
    and then I use it specifying the size:
         textbox.setFont(myFont.deriveFont(18f));
    This works when I run it from command line, but the above line gives me a nullPointerException from java web start.
    I tried to use ClassLoader just like i do it to load images:
         ClassLoader cl = this.getClass().getClassLoader();
    and do cl.getResource("myfont.ttf").
    But the problem is getResource() returns URL, but FileInputStream does not allow it in the constructor.
    So I tried:
         cl.getResource("myfont.ttf").getPath() and feed that into constructor of FileInputStream but still no luck.
    Does anyone have an idea abt what I should do?
    Thanks so much,
    yulduz

    try using:
    ClassLoader cl = this.getClass().getClassLoader();
    myFont = Font.createFont(Font.TRUETYPE_FONT, cl.getResourceAsStream("myFont.ttf:);

  • Flash Player and Ascender Compact Asian Fonts file format for fonts

    Hi all,
    Looks like ACAF file format for fonts has significant advantages in terms of memory to display CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) characters presumably if embedded into SWF file.
    http://www.ascendercorp.com/pr/2006-10-05/
    Are there any plans to extend next Flash Player versions targeted at mobile phones to support this proprietary font file format?

    I've included also a much more simple example without the xml
    and the font symbol, only the class and a movieclip from the
    library, but I can't still see it on flash player 10

    I have a serius problem with OTF fonts shipped with CS3 collection.
    I had to reinstall windows to solve this issue a couple of months ago and now it's bugging me again.
    When I double click on Minion (or other adobe OTF fonts) in fonts (control panel) i get this error:
    "The requested file c:\windows\fonts\MinionPro-BoldCn.otf was not a valid font file"
    And the worst thing is that the fonts are not being listed in any of the applications.
    I opened my project today and I got an error saying that Minion pro bold was not found. I was working on that project yesterday. what could have heppened since then?
    Please help me ASAP.

    Chinese Arabic or Russian?
    I hope some one can help me. It's not like my life depends on knowing this or not but I would really like to know what this clock is saying. It came in the mail from China a week ago and I have not been able to figure it out. I would guess because this LDU Company business is in China that it is Chinese, but you never know, maybe the clock was made in China for Russians? The website is www.lducompany.com and the link to the sega sonic the hedgehog clock is on this page http://www.liangdianup.com/clocks_1.htm
    There is a video on thier website on the sonic hedgehog clock page and you can hear what the clock is saying. If some one could tell me exactly what it is saying I would appreciate it. Thank you :)

  • Font rendering problem... (FLash BUG)

    Hi all, I have Flash instaled on two machines and both of them are having a problem when rendring flash text.
    All text on flash appears like the image bellow. And When I export to SWF the text stays the same.
    The font I'm using is Myriad Pro
    I'm running Flash on iMac i3 3.06 with 4Gb and 256 Graphics display so that can't be the problem.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks for the attention.
    y

    Hi,
    i know this problem. It exists since the last os-x update.
    Until now there ist no solution - only two workarounds.
    a) reinstall osx and update only to an older version
    b) sometimes it helps me to close flash, restart flash and publish again.
    It seems only OTF Fonts make Problems. I know about problems with MyriadPro and DIN.
    There is also a problem creating PDF Files with the OS-X internal "Print as PDF" function.
    I hope there will be an update soon....

  • Rep-1925: Invalid Font File

    Hi,
    I'm running Reports9i and playing with the new font sub-setting feature. I have added the following line to my uifont.ali file under the [ PDF:SUBSET ] section:
    sAdC128c = "SADC128C.ttf"
    I have placed the above ttf file in a directory that is in my REPORTS_PATH. I have set the font of a field in my report to the above mentionned font. When I select "Generate to File: PDF" from the file menu I get the error message stated in the subject. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Chad

    Hi Chad,
    Well, it looks like Reports has found the file, otherwise you'd get a "rep-1924 Cannot locate the font file xxx". It seems like the font file may be corrupted. I'm not familiar with the sAdC128c font, so I'm not sure if this a converted font file or not, but you may want to try with a standard True Type font file and make sure it works. If it does, I'd try reinstalling the font in case there's a problem with it.
    Hope that helps!
    Toby
