Font Folio 11 - How to install/manage?

I just bought Font Folio 11 (gulp!)  So now what do I do?
I don't want to drag/drop 3000 fonts onto my system and boggle it down.  I guess I was under the assumption that for $2500 it came with at least a basic viewer/manager, but no.
I got a trial of Suitcase Fusion, but I can only seem to install one font at a time.
Help, please!

There is no installer or uninstaller for Font Folio. It is simply a disk full of fonts. Since there are so many ways in which various users may wish to install and/or manage fonts, it simply didn't make sense for Adobe to try imposing any one such manner on everyone. Plus, virtually no one in their right mind would attempt to install all fonts at one time.
Installation of fonts is normally quite simple, but varies from operating system to operating system and version to version. Drag and drop OpenType font files works in most situations where you want a copy of a font installed in a known, system font location. Windows 7 allows right clicking one or more OpenType or TrueType font files with context menu items that allow for installation or installation via links. (Note that you wouldn't normally install via a link to a CD or DVD given that you wouldn't normally have such an optical media mounted at all times. And of course, if you are using any font manager, such software typically provides its own mechanism for font installation, activation, deactivation, etc.

  • How to install managed apps to iPads silently OTA using Profile Manager

    Here is my setup.
100 to 150 Ipads in carts used by their departments in classrooms.
OSX Mavericks Server running Profile manager
I use Apple Configurator to push a wifi payload to the ipads as well as an auto enrollment profile to connect to Profile Manager.
That part works like a dream.
Now that I have that working. I am having a problem pushing apps to the Ipads. I downloaded some free apps, GDrive for example, using the managed distribution.
But I cannot figure out how to push the apps to the iPads without having the iPads asking for an Apple ID and password.
I just want to push VPP apps to the iPads silently.
    Thanks for any help.

Then you need include the apps when you clone with Configurator.
Managed Distribution of Apps is flexible because it works for the following scenarios:
    Device
         • Device is owned by the company and distributed to the user
         • Device is BYOD and enrolled in corporate MDM
         • Device is BYOD and unmanaged
    User
         • Device is "assigned' or used by a single individual
         • The individual has an Apple ID (or is capable of getting one)
         • The user is entered into your Profile Manager and has an email address (or device is enrolled and you do a push notify to ask for enrollment - remember, Managed Distro works without MDM)
         • User accepts the invitation to your VPP program with an Apple ID of choice - enterprise does not care what it is
    Apps
         • Apps are assigned to the user account in Profile Manager
         • Apps become visible in the Apple ID's App Store account as available for install
         • If the device is set to autoinstall "purchased" apps, the apps for iPad will just appear
         • Apps can be "revoked" by the enterprise, returning the license to the available pool
         • Apps do not dissapear from devices
Managed Distro does not really fit education as depending on age your students may not be able to have an Apple ID, may not have email, and the devices may not be deployed in a one-to-one.
You are back to master image cloning through Configurator.

  • Missing fonts in CS4 – how to install?

    Hi all,
Apologies for asking a question that I've seen posted and answered, but I'm wondering if there is a simpler solution than the plug-in suggested.
I have lost a few of the fonts I regularly use. They appear in Font Book and are enabled, but they are not available in InDesign. The missing fonts are available to me in other programs (e.g Word) so they are definitely on the system.
I was given advice to check in Home > Library > Application Support > Adobe > InDesign > Fonts, but there is no folder called "InDesign" within the Adobe folder of that path, so I don't know if that was good advice.
Of course (always the way, isn't it?) I've noticed this problem one week out from my deadline to the printer, so would really appreciate resolving it quickly.
    Thank you in advance,
    Andrew

Well, if your goal is to make the problem go away without
understanding it, thus reducing the liklihood you'll understand the
cause and prevent it from recurring in the future...
"Sometimes they get sleepy" is an attitude that really bothers me at a
deep level. Programs shouldn't break. And when they do, we should make
the effort to understand why they do. And report those problems back
to the manufacturers, who should be given the opportunity to fix
them. Even if we think they won't.
Programs break for reasons. Sometimes complicated and tricky
reasons. Sometimes reasons we can't actually figure out. But sometimes
reasons that we can. And we need to take the effort to figure out
why. Or at least try to a reasonable effort.
It is our moral duty. Otherwise the programmers who author the
software will have no opportunity to fix the problems, and thousands
of user across this green earth will be forced to deal with the same
problems we deal with regularly, for years and years, all because no
one was willing to take the minimal effort to figure out what was
    broken and why.
Don't lie down and say "oh, it just broken again, I accept that i have
to jump through this hoop to fix it periodically." That's just not the
way it should work, and it doesn't have to be that way.

  • Can't remember how to install a font

I have a Mac OSX 10.6.8. I can't remember where to put new fonts and/or how to install them in Photoshop. I've been searching the web and have found no useful info! I downloaded the new fonts to Library/Fonts, but that's obviously not the main place to keep them so Photoshop can find them. Where should they be, and do I have to do something special to install them in Photoshop? (I have Photoshop CS5 Extended 12.0.1)

Installing new fonts is very easy. All you need to do is:
    Double-click on the font.ttf file
    Click on “Install Font”
When you double click on a font file, other than being able to install it, you’ll also see a font character preview showing the font face.  This window will also let you preview any stylized versions (bold, italic, etc) of the font that are available and tell you if it’s installed or not. This is done through the Font Book app, which can also be launched separately to manage your typefaces.

  • How can I install my type 1 Adobe Font Folio (circa 2002) onto my Windows 7 PC?

I recently had to move to a PC running windows 7, I'm unable to install any fonts. I'm not using any font management software because I only need to use a handful of typefaces. The individual folders on the disk (old - 2002ish) don't have extensions. They're separated into 2 files; i.e. "AGarBol"  0KB and "._AGarBol" 56KB the PC doesn't recognize either of them. I've tried adding a .pfb / .pfm extension on both, it starts to install the .pfm file but errors out. HELP!

There is no exact 1:1 conversion of the MacOS versions to the Windows Type 1 equivalent fonts. Different font metric information is used in the different formats. Conversion to TrueType would be lossy. You also have the problem that the MacOS Type 1 fonts were stored in the file's “resource fork” for which there is no equivalent on Windows (or any other OS) - you would end up with file of zero bytes in length if you did a simple copy.
Unfortunately, you didn't back up the full CD to an ISO image. Otherwise, you could restore or even mount the image and get the Windows versions of the fonts.
If you purchased the Font Folio directly from Adobe, perhaps you could get some assistance in either replacing the CD or getting a low cost upgrade to a newer version of Font Folio which provides fully cross platform compatible OpenType CFF fonts. You didn't indicate which software you are planning to use under Windows, but the newest Microsoft applications and some other simply don't support Type 1 fonts anymore. But they do support OpenType CFF fonts found on the newer versions of Font Folio.
I recommend contacting Adobe Customer Support (not Technical Support) by phone to see whether they can assist you.

  • Installing Font Folio 9

I have nowhere to turn to... this may be a most relevant forum I can find on adobe.com.
How can I install all the fonts simultaneously? I have to go into each fold and add fonts from the ATM Deluxe 4.1. Would take me hours to click thru each folder.
    What to do? Help!
    Glenn

    Hi Glenn,
I don't think there really is an easy way to do this. Certainly it's not a feature of Font Folio.
As a work-around, I'm wondering if you might pop in the CD, then use Windows' Search to search the CD for *.pfm and *.pfb, this would eventually list all the .pfm and .pfb files in the search window, where you could then select them all and copy them into a new folder on your desktop (or elsewhere). Once you'd done that, you could then go into ATM and browse to that desktop folder to install everything in one fell swoop.
Option 2 would be to simply install individual font families from the CD as you want/need them. Font Folio has a lot of fonts, you certainly wouldn't want them all active in any case--if only for the sheer annoyance of picking the font you want from a never-ending list.

  • How to install Adobe Application Manager?

How to install Adobe Application Manager? I downloaded it, but can't install.
Just purchased the CC for photographers.  Have been using Photoshop since version 3.
I have been studying your support docs for several days and have no business messing around with something called, .gz files and installation logs. Totally unsuccessful "Updating" my CS6 or CS6 bridge or Extension Manager or the Adobe Support Advisor by the CC Desktop.
Have no Photoshop CS6 because I followed your CC support instructions.
Uninstalled my CS6 today so I can finish a job tomorrow.  Bad decision on my part because I can't reinstall it and am unable to correct
    this problem.
I was able to use CC to update LR, but am absolutely too afraid to touch it now.
I have been waiting inline for Chat also, but the numbers ahead of me are going up.
If someone in this Community forum can help me, it would be fabulous.
    Thanks very much.

    Uninstalled Creative Cloud.
Downloaded it again - 4th time.
Deleted a AAMDetect file from the Library/Internet Plug-ins
Downloaded and installed Adobe App Manager and an icon for it is on my Desktop
    Installed Creative Cloud.
    OK.
Now how do get my Photoshop CS6 back before I download Photoshop CC?
CS6 is not listed in the available Apps in the CC Desktop.
Support wait time right now is 2 hours by phone.
After sitting on Chat yesterday only to see the people "waiting ahead of me" go from 17 to 18, I gave up.
    Please advise.
    Thanks again.

  • Mac:  How do you use the "Install Manager" to update Flash?

So on a Mac with 10.3.181.22 installed, I went to a web page and the "Adobe Flash Player Install Manager" ran and notified me that an update to Flash was available.
I didn't want to install this at that time, so I dismissed it.
How do I force another check for an installation update procedure?  If I manually run the Install Manager in /Applications/Utilities, it only gives me the option to *Uninstall* Flash Player and revisiting the web page (or running some other Flash animation) did not prompt me again that there was an update.
What am I missing to trigger the automatic notification/installation?
    - Steve

Hi, I'm not familiar with that Mac feature since I don't use a Mac. However, you can go to this site and Install:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Also you can now use the automatic Flash Player notification for the Mac here:
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager05.htm l
With this, the next time Flash Player has an update you will receive a prompt and can choose to "Install now"/"Remind me later" or "Don't Install"  I use it all of the time and the update is done in under 2 minutes!!
    Hope that helps,

  • How to install fonts from CS3 into CS5?

At work I often need the font DIN which was installed with our version CS3. At home I have CS5 and I do not know how to install the needed fonts. I packed the relevant file with the fonts and other links into a directory but how can I install the fonts at my personal computer using Windows. When using a Mac it was quite easy to install the font, I just click at the font within the directory "fonts" and with another click on "install" I got the font. My PC however asks me which programme I want the file to open with - but which one should it be? It can't be Word, Photoshop, IrfanView or whatever. So what do I do? Can anybody please help me?

Well.. there are many different kinds of font files out there. Some of them advertise the type of font in the filename, e.g.
    DINBold.otf
    DINBold.ttf
    DINBold.pfm
    DIN.dfont
    DIN.ttc
    and so on.
Others, typically Mac fonts, don't have a file extension that tells us what kind of file it is. Of those Mac fonts, there's one kind that you can't use on Windows at all, because when you look at it in Windows the size is zero kilobytes. The fact that, at some point in the past, you moved a file from Mac to Windows without font problems does not make a platform-compatibility problem any more or less likely - perhaps it was all set in fonts you already had installed at home. The fact that right now it doesn't work in the Document Fonts folder makes me believe that you may have a Mac font resource fork problem - that's what would make the filesize 0k. If your fonts don't have file extensions (or if you have file extensions hidden by Windows, which is the way Win7 works by default) then you can't really know what kind of font file it is. Looking at the Properties of the font file will tell you, though.
Lastly: since you don't own an (extra) license for the font, you'd be ripping off the font developers by installing it on your home computer, although obviously not intentionally.

  • How to install Fonts into Adobe Illustrator

I am using a computer that runs on Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Hi there I want to know  how to install new Fonts / Typefaces into Adobe Illustrator CS3?
I am also curious as to how I would install fonts on other Adobe CS applications?
All help, links, and resources much appreciated.

I just dragged and dropped the downloaded ".tff" font files into in Font Book icon in theDock and a new window popped up and just click "Install Font" button.
That works, too. Sets are, more than anything else, just a way to organize your fonts by project. By dropping the font in, it should now be listed in one of the standard headings like "Computer".
The new fonts have automatically loaded into Adobe Illustrator CS3 without having to close it.
Better apps will see when fonts have been enabled or disabled without having to close and restart them. Microsoft Word (and likely the entire Office suite) does not.

  • How to install new fonts using code in java?

    Hi,
How to install font in a system using java, provided i know the font file's address. Is there any specific class/method available for this purpose? Copying the file to windows/font directory will work for windows, but I think it wont be generic to all operating system. So is there anyway to install a font using code?
I also want to know how to make the font available only until my application window is open, It must be available to all other external applications like photoshop, word etc., When I close my window it must un-install automatically or be made not available to other applications. Any suggestions? Please do help! Thanks in advance...

I have already tried the above, But the font created using input stream is available only to my application* and is not viewable in photoshop.*. I realize this. Like I said, I know of no method that will register/deregister the font with the system. You'll have to create your own method that takes the operating system into account.
    String os = System.getPropery("os.name");
    if(os.equals("Windows Vista")) {
    }else if(os.equals("Windows XP")) {
    }else if(os.equals("Windows NT")) {
    }else if(os.equals("Solaris")) {
    AIX
    Digital Unix
    FreeBSD
    HP UX
    Irix
    Linux
    Mac OS
    Mac OS X
    MPE/iX
    Netware 4.11
    OS/2
    Solaris
    Windows 2000
    Windows 95
    Windows 98
    Windows NT
    Windows Vista
Windows XPYou'll need the standard font directory for each system. I think all the window ones are C:\Windows\Font\ . Each OS probably has its own little quark (like having several font directories or throwing different security exceptions). Undoubtly it's going to require some research and a bit of trial and error. You can probably work some magic with Runtime.exec(...) as well.
The alternative would be to google for some libraries that offer similar functionality, or promt the user for the system's font directory and save the location of the directory in a file somewhere for future use (so the user dosen't have to specify the font directory everytime he/she starts up the application).
