Font has disappeared, despite loading on every other program

I've been working with one font on several different documents including indesign, and all of a sudden it was replaced by Times New Roman all throughout my indesign document that I have been working on for months. The font is still working in illustrator though. I'm using CS3. Help??

Did you upgrade your system recently? (OS or hardware).
Is the font Opentype? T1, TT?
Do you have a backup of the font in its original format (a zip file or disk)?
If so, try to: Deactiveate the font in fontbook, move those font files to the trash, restart your system and re-add a fresh version of the font into font book (from original disk, or expanded archive, etc.) although it sounds like you've possibly tried that at some point, it's not in your list above. I think "making sure it's in font book and verified" doesn't mean that some part of the font isn't still broken enough to trip up software using it. Also something might have happened to your CS3. Do you have install disks to reinstall?
Lastly, if you have many many fonts and not much memory on your system, try turning off all fonts you aren't using for this project (except the fonts that the system needs and won't let you deactivate). This might help if you have tons of fonts on a system with very little memory.

Thanks for trying Toonz, but unfortunately no success yet. I updated my driver but still get an error message. The interesting thing is I have windows XP (not Windows 2000), so I unchecked a box someone else suggested that I try to check. Here are my latest diagnostics:

First try resetting the tool by clicking the tiny arrow at the far left end of the options bar and choosing reset tool.
But you should be able to use the arrow keys to navigate through the fonts, too.

Get an external hard drive, some good ones that I like are the OWC, http://www.macsales.com Mercury Elite Pro drives...they are very good and reasonably priced.
Get the drive, connect via USB or FireWire, then use Disk Utility to format the new drive as Mac OS X Extended (Journaled), and then use Disk Utility to Restore the current drive to the new drive. Restore actually clones the drive so you will have a bootable backup on the external drive.
After you have formatted and named the external drive, click Restore in the main Disk Utility window, drag the name of the old hard drive to the Source box, and drag the name of the new external drive to the Destination box. DU will make an exact clone of the internal drive on the external drive.
That clone will be a complete backup of the operating system and all of your data.
You can test it by restarting the iMac and hold the Option key. That will give you a grey screen showing all bootable drives. Just click the external drive, then click the upward pointing arrow under it and the iMac will boot from that drive.

Mail can't connect to servers, but every other program can

I've seen a lot of posts about problems with Mail where the Connection Doctor says there is a connection to the server. I suddenly can't connect to any of the servers that download to Mail (so it is unlikely that I went in and changed all of the settings), but I can connect to the internet with every other program, and can check my .mac mail online.
The problem started WHILE Mail was open. I checked mail at 8.30 and it was fine; at 9.00 I was no longer able to send or receive mail.

Firefox cannot load any webpages, but IE can.
I have tried everything suggested. This problem happened befoer I updated Firefox and did not resolve after I updated firefox.
I tried changing internet settings, disabling firewall, and even disabling IVP6, but nothing is working.

I went through the FAQ guide for firefox not loading webpages, but after having changed both boolean setting in the about:config section of the firefox advanced settings, deleting and re-adding it to the program permissions list in my firewall (mcafee antivirus 2011), and even attempting to completely disable the firewall for a period of time, I am still unable to browse the internet on firefox. Internet explorer, however, does work.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I see the printer, in blue when I click on the hardware tab. Actually there are 2 things listed that have to do with the printer.
The first one is called:
HP Photosmart Prem C410 series (DOT4PRIN.... and under the Type it is listed as IEEE1284.4...
The next is listed as:
HP Phototsmart Prem C410 series and under the Type heading it says Printers.
I don't know which one to pick. So when I choose the name highlighted in blue, what do I do to change the name?

Fonts load up every other start up

After installing os x jaguar, my fonts don't load up all the time. Every other time I start up computer only 77 of my 450 fonts load. Every morning I have to start up, shut down and start up again to get all fonts to load. Any Ideas?

One of the native mac os x fonts has disappeared from my computer

I have searched multiple word processing programs on my imac and the font Bell Gothic Std has disappeared from the font book and the computer.
I've tried re-installing mac-os x, while holding down the 'c' key so not to lose data but this did not successfully bring back the font.
Does anyone know what may have happened or how I might fix the problem?

That one doesn't come with OS X (or iLife or iWork), so you will need to figure out where you got it before (Office? Adobe apps? ) and try to get it again.

Well, you've told us next to nothing (e.g., what application you were running, what version of OS X you are running, whether you closed the app when you saved the document, etc.).
With this very limited information, I would suggest trying Spotlight (magnifying glass in upper right corner of screen). Type in the name of the document and see what turns up.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.
You can try to decrease the value of the pref <b>network.http.max-connections</b> from 255 to a more modest setting like 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

Have you tried opening Spotlight (Command + spacebar or click the magnifying glass icon near the right end of the menu bar) and typing "pages" into it to see if it finds Pages?
If it is found and the problem is that it isn't showing on the Dock, you can open Finder and then use the Finder "Go" menu and click Applications, locate Pages and drag it to the Dock.

(Firefox is so extremely slow, it's unbelievable (google needs about 1 minute to load). Every other browser works perfectly fine. How is that possible

uninstall the proxytube addon and set firefox to "use no proxy" under options > advanced > network > connection - settings... in order to get back to the normal browsing speed
