Font in text box

Hi everyone,
Is there a way for me to set the default font for a text box, so that everytime when I open one, I don't have to customize it again and again, over and over?
Thank you very much
Kelv

Sure. Open the blank template & insert a text box, click in it & choose the font, size, color, etc. you want in the fonts panel or format bar. While you're at it resize the box if you want, set the amount of extra space in the wrap inspector, etc. You can do similar changes to inserted objects & tables. Delete each text box, object & table after you've set them. Now, save this document as a template & select that template as default in preferences. If you decide to make any changes to the template down the road, just Save As Template again with the same name & replace the previous version.
While you're at it, set any default text styles you want. Now, save this as a template then, in Pages > Preferences, select this template as the default for new documents. All of your new documents will have these settings for inserted objects, images & tables. Unfortunately, the settings won't apply to any other templates or "foreign" documents you open with Pages.

  • Acrobat 9: Control over font in text box

    Versions: OS X 10.8.5 with Acrobat Pro 9, latest patch.
    I am experimentally preparing a four day training course by adding my instructor information to a PDF of the slide show.  There are only 850 slides, so it makes sense to experiment with this small document.
    All is going well.  I have created some custom stamps.  Acrobat has only crashed twice, losing not more than two hours work as a result.  I am optimistic I will be good to go in 10 more days.
    I have just copied some test into a text box and it copied as black and blue text with a larger font than the standard red font that I have been seeing until now.
    It occurs to me that this implies there may be some control over the text.  I realize that Acrobat is not meant to be a document preparation tool, so I hunted around somewhat for a way to change the text box text to not-red, gave up and I have been putting up with it until now.
    However, there are implications (but no clearly stated solutions) that there is a way to change the font, size and colour of text in text boxes.
    Do you know how?  I cannot work it out, nor can I find a solutoin.  I can see that the Commenting preference pane offers Small Medium and Large text.  There does not seem to be any other control other than the style (italic, bold, superscript, subscript) that is offered in the context menu.
    Hints?  Thoughts?

    Pryanja.
    Thanks again.  If offers a dropdown for Colour, a box for style (plain, bold italic etc) and a button marked more, but they seem to do nothing at all.  They don't change what I type, and they don't affect selected text.  Looks to me tha they just take up some toolbar space.
    Is it possible that it does not work on Mac?

  • How do I save a font and it's size and color in a text box as a default

    I am using Adobe Acrobat XI for Mac and can't figure out how to set a default font for text boxes. I don't seem to be able to access the properties to set the default by highlighting a properly formatted text box and pressing ctrl-e. Is there another key combination for Mac? Or another method for setting defaults? I'm finding I have to set the font, size and color every time I open a new Acrobat doc and want to add a text box. Also, the choices are not even saving with the document. The fonts already typed save correctly, but on reopening, I have to reset if I want to add more text.
    Thanks in advance for any help,
    Tom Carlson

    Thanks for the suggestions. I've got a Logitech G700S Mouse with a right click button, so right-clicking isn't an issue. Unfortunately, the I can't seem to find the menu to "Use Current Properties as New Defaults." I may not have described the problem correctly.
    I am adding text to a pre-existing pdf document, not creating a form. I would like to be able to set a default font, size and color for text, so that when I enter text in a text box onto the pdf document, it has those properties. If I select the text box that is properly formatted (not the text, but the box) and right click, the only choices I get are:
    Cut
    Copy
    Delete
    Select All
    Deselect All
    Arrange>
    Edit Using>
    So I gues my question is if one can even format a text box as a default or a "style" or the like. I tried setting a default font, size and color for "comments" also in the Acrobat preferences, but even that didn't seem to stick when I opened a new doc. This all may just be a Mac / Mavericks interaction flaw. Anybody have any other ideas?

  • Hebrew fonts from drop-down box not displaying in text box.

    I am using InDesign CS 5.5 on a Mac 10.8.4.
    When in ID, the fonts I am seeing on the Font dropdown menu when I try to use in a text box are not displaying correctly. They only display as boxes. The fonts are in the Hebrew language. They are properly installed in the FontBook.

    Reema,
    I followed most of your steps. I have a question reg. step 3 ie populating data in node 1.
    Here is my code:
    method WDDOINIT .
    types: begin of zs,
    zktokd type kna1-ktokd,
    end of zs.
    data: handle1 type ref to if_wd_context_node,
    begin of zstruct,
    zktokd type kna1-ktokd,
    end of zstruct,
    zitab type table of zs.
    handle1 = wd_context->get_child_node( name = 'NODE1' ).
    *select ktokd into corresponding fields of zstruct from kna1.
    *append zstruct to zitab.
    *endselect.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Sold-to party'.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Goods recipient'.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Payer'.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Bill-to party'.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Prospective Customer'.
    append zstruct to zitab.

    append zstruct to zitab.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Sales partners'.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Hierarchy Node'.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Named List of Accounts'.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Distribution center'.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    zstruct-zktokd = 'Payer'.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    handle1->bind_table( new_items = zitab ).
    endmethod.
    Please let me know if this is the best way to populate the node and then bind the table values from the node to the drop down box.
    Thanks and Regards.

  • How to change font size in new text box

    Using Acrobat XI, I am trying to fill in a non fillable form simply by adding text boxes where information needs to go. Unfortunately the font used on the form is rather small and I can't seem to make the font smaller than 8. It not only looks ridiculous but I can not actually fit in all the information.
    How do I make the font smaller?
    Cheers

    Use the "Add text box" tool under Comment - Drawing Markups.

  • I am pulling my hair out! I am using adobe indesign and just want to make a text box 'autofit text' as I change fonts a lot and want the font to automatically re-size as I change it. help help help please - I have latest version of indesign - thanks

    I am pulling my hair out! I am using adobe indesign and just want to make a text box 'autofit text' as I change fonts a lot and want the font to automatically re-size as I change it.
    Is it not possible to create a text box, fill it with dynamic (data driven) text, but make the font size either scale up or down automatically, so that the entire text box is filled? This is a feature in PrintShop Mail Pro called COPY FIT. but no such feature in Indesign??
    help help help please - I have latest version of indesign - thanks, DJ

    lol... it seems to work, but I have another huge problem!
    Apparently .CSV files cannot contain page breaks in the data! The data I am trying to merge is a 'letter', with paragraphs, line breaks, etc.,
    But, after data merging, it ignores page breaks and only merges the first paragraph of each letter. (sigh)
    Solution? Hopefully, an EASY solution. lol as we have thousands of records.
    Is there a third party indesign plugin that will allow .xml, or .xls data merge import??
    Thx,
    DJ

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - editing font properties in a text box

    When I insert a text box on an existing PDF, initially Acrobat usually allows me to edit the font properties.  Sometimes it does not.  Once I type in the text box, the font properties toolbar becomes locked (i.e., "grayed out") so I can't change font type, size, color justification and other font properties.  If I save the file, close it and then re-open I can edit then the font, at least for a while.  If I have other PDF files open too I usually have to close those other windows.  After some time the font properties again become locked.
    Obviously it is incredibly inconvenient to have to close a program and all open files then re-open those files just to change something like the color of a font.  I called Adobe tech support and they told me the fix was to buy Acrobat X.  I don't want to spend more money, I just want the product I already paid for to work properly.
    Is there a way for this bug in the software to be corrected?

    ** SOLVED FOR ME **
    Acrobat 9.0 and 9.1 Standard
    No v9 properties toolbar access except in last document opened
    I don't know if this applies to you but I had a similar problem with documents on our network.
    It turns out the documents were being saved as PDF/A or PDF/X format.
    I had the users open up Adobe.  Go to Edit>Preferences      Then go to the Documents section and find the "Open in PDF/A" section.  I had them select "Never"  and then the toolbars were no longer greyed out.

  • How do I change the font size and color in a text box in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (ctrl e does not work)?

    I need to mark up scanned pdf documents with text box comments. I can insert the text box and type text but I cannot change the font or color. When I press Crtl E, no tool bar appears in the menu bar. What does appear in the menu bar is "No current selection". Please advise.

    I am already doing that: creating the text box, typing the text, selecting the text i.e. highlighting the text. This morning, for a scant minute, the properties tool bar appeared and I was able to refine the text in a text box. Then it disappeared never to be activated again this morning.
    I work half of my weekly hours at this client office and I only have this problem on their pc and adobe software (version 9 pro). When I am home, my laptop and the adobe software (version 10 pro) is fine. I can create the text boxes and refine the format at will with no issues. Could it be a software version and/or update issue? Thanks for any assistance.

  • Font not changing after a CR in a text box

    I have some vb.net code that fills in a report, including text boxes. Some of the text boxes are used like a header and have a fixed size. When the desired text is entered, sometimes there will be a character indicating a carriage return/line feed goes in that spot to make the text more readable, and is replaced when found.  This works fine.
    What does not work is after the text is set up, the user can change the font. The code then goes through all the objects on the report and changes the font. The problem is that when it tries to change the font on the text boxes where the CRLF is, the font change is applied up to the CRLF, but is not applied to the text after it. I end up with mixed fonts in a text box.
    Is there a special character or method to get the font to be applied correctly? I have tried all combinations (chr(10), chr(13, chr(10) & chr(13), etc) but so far nothing has worked.
    Here is the code I am using to apply the font change:
    Dim objText As ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.TextObject = CType rcd.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.GetAllReportObjects().Item(obj.Name), CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.TextObject)
    objText.FontColor.Font.Name = myFont.Name
    If myFont.SizeAdjustment <> 0 Then objText.FontColor.Font.Size += myFont.SizeAdjustment
    rcd.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.Modify(CType rcd.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.GetAllReportObjects().Item(obj.Name), CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.TextObject), objText)
    One more note - this appears to work fine for formula fields. I just can't seem to get it to work for text objects. I have many reports and I would prefer not to change them all to formulas.

    I am new to crystal report objects (I inherited the code I am working with), so I need a bit of help. I tried the following code:
                  Dim objText As ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.TextObject = CType(rcd.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.GetAllReportObjects().Item(obj.Name), CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.TextObject)
                  For Each pobj As ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.Paragraph In objText.Paragraphs
                    pobj.FontColor.Font.Name = myFont.Name
                    If myFont.SizeAdjustment <> 0 Then pobj.FontColor.Font.Size += myFont.SizeAdjustment
                    rcd.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.Modify(CType(rcd.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.GetAllReportObjects().Item(pobj.Name), CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.Paragraph), pobj)
                  Next
    but I get the following error: Public member 'Name' on type 'ISCRParagraph' not found. I am having trouble finding where the proper paragraphs collection is.
    What am I doing wrong?

  • How do I change the font size and color in a text box?

    How do I change the font size and color in a text box?

    Really frustrating to find the first time but simple once you figure it out. I think I spent hours trying to find this. Simply right click on a blank spot in the toolbar up top and select Properties Bar. There it is! The available properties will change depending on whether you have the content (text) selected or the box itself.
    I haven't found a way yet to make it show up as a regular part of the toolbar. It floats around and gets in the way so I don't leave it on and then have to open it again when I need it. Again - frustrating; but at least it's there!

  • Acrobat Pro 6.0 - Text Box Properties: How-to change font / default

    Inserting text box into an existing .pdf opened in Acrobat Pro ver. 6.0
    Need to change font size to smallest. Right-clicking on field to open 'properties', clicking on 'Appearance' tab, BUT there is no choice for 'font'.
    HOW DO I...change the font size in a text box?
    HOW DO I...set the default to that font/size/color/border/fill?

    You need to have the Properties Bar open (Ctrl + E), double-click on the text so you can select some of it, and you should see where you can specify the various font properties.

  • Changing text features (font, point size etc) in multiple text boxes at the same time

    That pretty much says it all: I'm using pages for some simple initial rendering to send my graphic designer and it would save me some time if I could change the font & point-size for all the various text boxes at the same time.
    Cheers,
    Rax

    Thank you both!
    How 'bout changing the actual content uniformly? Am I still stuck changing each box individually? I know that I am pushing it to do things that it wasn't made for, but I can dream, can't I?
    Thanks again,

  • How do you change the font in multiple text boxes?

    I just started using illustrator and I can't figure this one out.  Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
    I made a bunch of text boxes using the type tool.  Is there a way I can link the boxes and easily change the font?
    Thanks,
    Justin

    You select the text frames holding dow the shift keys then go to Type>Thread text, I would select the text frames in the order you wan them threaded.
    Then once threaded you click the text tool inside of one of the text strings and do a command A to select all the text and then choose any method of changing the font such as Character Panel, Control Panel or Type>Font menu item.
    you can also look into creating Paragraph styles as well.

  • Change font name/size in text box

    I am trying to create a Pages document with text boxes and would like to use different fonts and sizes in each box. I've tried using
      make text box with properties {object text:receipt_date, vertical position:7, horizontal position:2.5, height:0.5, width:3, font name:"Courier", font size:24.0}
    but it doesn't work.
    Any help gratefully received.

    I see two things; you should "make new text box" and font name and font size are properties of the text, not the text box.
    The following worked for me:
    set the_text to "Hello World!"
    tell application "Pages"
              tell front document
                        set new_box to make new text box with properties {object text:the_text, vertical position:2, horizontal position:1, height:3, width:4}
                        set properties of object text of new_box to {font name:"Courier", font size:24.0}
              end tell
    end tell
    Edit: The "set new_box to" part isn't needed unless you want to refer to the box again in the script.
