Font Install Issue

Hi,
When im installing a font in Windows 7, Illustrator CC cant open, crash. When im unnistalling all external font. Illustrator open correctly.
I need work wit this fonts!!
Please, help me!
PD: Sorry my bad inglish.

Alex,
What happens if you uninstall all the external fonts so Illy works, then try to install a group of them and see.
If Illy works, try more, if not uninstall only some of them.
You can work in that way until you have determined which fonts you can work with.
And then you may have to find uncorrupt/better versions/alternatives for the failing ones.

  • Mac OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues

    Hi,
I have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X installed and Adobe CS3.
I've installed a font. The font works in Photoshop and Illustrator
but not in Flash CS3. Why? I've put the font in the Library/Fonts
folder and the User/Fonts folder and it still doesn't show up in
Flash. Apparently this is a problem for a number of people see
    another forum here:
    MAC
OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues Forum
Please let me know what to do to fix this. I need to be able
to work with the font in all three applications Flash, Photoshop
    and Illustrator.

    Hi davidd61713525,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Unfortunately, it looks like something is wrong with the file system and the installer can't see the root drive to install to.  A Google search returns numerous results affecting various products and the recurring theme is that something is wrong with the disk.  There are many recommendations from various sources, but nothing definitive.
Here's a similar thread over on the Apple forums:
Broken Installer Permissions | Apple Support Communities
    And a similar older one:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1203509
I would try the following options:
Try using the PKG installer. This is used Mac SysAdmins to install Flash Player within their organization and uses a slightly different installer path, which may or may not work.
Some people have had success with disk and permissions repair some have not.  You can try running a disk and permissions repair.  After the disk and permissions repair is complete, reboot the system and try to install again using either the online installer (get.adobe.com/flashplayer) or the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
If these options do not work, I'd reach out to Apple support to see if they have a suggestion.  If you do find a resolution to this, please let me know.  I'll be happy to share it with people that encounter the problem in the future.

  • ITC Zapf Dingbat font install issues?

We have CS6 running on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.  We purchased  ITC Zapf Dingbats Std from Adobe and installed them on the PC.  It shows them in listed as installed and if you try to reinstall them, then it prompts and says they are already there.  Our issue revolves around using them, when you use them in a current or new document it only shows a box with an X in it and not the font.  What is the fix for this issue?  As a side note, we also had purchased several Helvetica fonts and installed them without issue and they work without any issue.

Are you typing in text from your keyboard? Try inserting a character through the Glyphs panel.
The old way of adding dingbats and other symbols to a font was to substitute regular characters with them, so to get a fleuron, you'd type something like a "D" and rely on the font encoding to get the "right" character. With modern fonts (and modern versions of classic fonts), that practice has been deemed obsolete and not interchangeable. To insert a dingbat, you'd need to type the actual character on your keyboard (and you are unlikely to have a "five point white star" key), or insert the appropriate code otherwise, such as through the Glyphs panel.
The Adobe Font store does report the character encoding for Zapf Dingbats as "Symbol/Pi": http://store1.adobe.com/type/browser/info/charsets.html#symbolpi

  • None of my fonts install into photoshop cs5. why?

I had my computer repaired a few months ago by Mac Medics and ever since my photoshop will not install fonts. Its photoshop cs5. I have an osx 10.6.8 system. The fonts install fine in all other adobe and microsoft programs. I tried doing what several of the forums online suggested and nothing is working. Am I missing something? I have reinstalled photoshop. I have done the Application Support route, I have emptied caches. I'm trying to fix it myself before i call MMac Medics. Ideas?

Hi Joe. Yes I did that. In fact, yesterday I did it again but I completely uninstalled the whole Creative Suite and disabled it. I reinstalled it. This time I at least found that the Adobe font folder was not empty as it had been before I uninstalled CS. The programs still don't grab the font from my font library like they should but I was at least able to make aliases as before and drop them into the folder. That worked. However, they should be loading directly into the applications.
Most "well behaved" (designed to Apple standard coding practices) applications use the fonts directly out of OS X's own font library, but Photoshop has some old code that builds and uses its own font library. One of Adobe's contributions to their reputation of being a memory hog. IIRC Photoshop Elements and InDesign both have a much newer code base and use the system font library. Why this is creating a problem for you only Adobe knows for sure.

Another issue I've had is that nearly a dozen times over the last three months I get a grey'd out screen and in 50 different languages it tells me to power my computer off. I need to take it back to Medics. Maybe they can fix both issues. For now, I can work with it. Thanks for all the input.
That, my friend, is called a full blown kernel panic and those can be a real bear to diagnose unless they are reliably repeatable. While kernel panics can be caused by software problems the most common causes are a bad CPU, a bad logic board, or bad RAM. I hope you either have Applecare or Mac Medics has you covered under a service warranty on their work as a new CPU or logic board can get pricey!

  • Font smoothing issues

Hi all. I noticed some others were complaining about font smoothing not seeming to work in Carbon applications (e.g. Camino, Firefox, MS Word and even iTunes). It seems the subpixel font-aliasing system preference (e.g. light) is ignored and, instead, the ugly CRT font smoothing is used.
I am puzzled this has not received a lot of attention, since it immediately bothered me when I received my Macbook Pro today.
Is everyone experiencing this font smoothing problem? I used the Migration Assistant to copy all files from my previous (Tiger-installed) Powerbook. Does anyone not having used the Migration Assistant also suffer from the font smoothing issue?

Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

TinkerTool didn't make any difference for me. I played around with it and found that there was no improvements using it or disabling font smoothing.
I have watched DVD's on this LCD being played with my MacBook. I have seen 2MB+ full screen digital pictures. Both the DVD and digital pics look absolutely amazing on it.
It's only the fonts that appear blurry or in some areas they appear to have a shadown to the right. This happens with any text that appears in every app.
Keep in mind too, Windows Vista looks perfect on this display, but my prized MacBook looks really sub-par.
I'm not quite following you on changing the display preferences to change to pixel size to that of the MacBook...

  • Font missing issues

After seemingly resolving 'font missing' message when opening a document, the font is still highlighted in pale pink and I can't seem to get rid of it. Can anyone help?

Strangely enough, I seem to have resolved the issue myself, by removing the fonts from Font Book. Your last reply popped up as I was removing them, and I was going to reload them to font book, however when I went to inDesign to open the document and get you some screenshots, the issue seemed to have resolved itself, leaving me baffled, as I thought I had to have fonts installed in Font Book to be able to use them?
I do have a secondary issue with another font, Knockout, though. I have added this to Font Book, for use in the same document (I had no issues with this one going missing though), but when I view it in Font Book, it appears as shown below? Do you know why?

  • Weird Font Rendering Issue?

Okay i was looking fo some back up drives online, and i stumbled upon:

but for some reason on my MacPro 2.66 the font renders odd in FireFox (doenst do it on Safari. and ive tried this exact sit eon my MacBookPro and it looks fine on Firefox.
I have the following installed (on both machines)
    -FireFox 2.0.0.9
    -Microsoft Office 2004
    -Adobe CS2
    -Macromedia Studio 8
theyre practically identical with programs & fonts installed, the only fonts that are installe are the ones that wer epreinstalled with the system, and that came with Office 04 and CS2
any way to maybe fix this issue?

hey! well i tried your site url on my MacPro and i have the same issue, so it must be a macpro thing? lol
im running the latest firefox and no additional fonts installed other than the ones you have listed yourself (office, cs2, macromedia)
so dont fret. i tried using font finangler and onyx to clean the font cache, (not sure i fhtat was a good idea,) but it shows up on mine so your not the only one! ive tried on two different macpros one wiht out any programs and it does the same thing. so it must be something with the wya its rendering on these machines.
at first it hought maybe something got corrupted in my system aswell

  • Font Rendering Issues-Help Required Please

In the past week, any Google search on Firefox or Chrome (but not Opera) gives me results where the fonts look gappy. Sometimes there are additional dots above the letters. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox from scratch in case an add-on was at fault but even with a clean install I am still seeing the issue. I checked my font settings and do not have any minimum font size set. I have allow pages to choose their own font ticked.
I've uploaded an image where I can see some correctly rendered text and some gappy looking text (not from a Google search but a Mozilla query). It also happens when commenting online sometimes, during typing it will be gappy but it will show properly once submitted. Any ideas for a fix would be warmly welcomed and I can give more examples if that would help. Although it's not Firefox related, I did restore all defaults in Chrome and it didn't fix the issue there either.
I uninstalled the most recent Windows Update since the problem is recent but it didn't change anything. I'm not sure if browsers would even look to my computers fonts.

hi Auds77, this is probably caused by microsoft update kb3013455 which can cause font rendering issues on vista:
<blockquote>After you install security update 3013455, you may notice some text quality degradation in certain scenarios. The problem only occurs on systems that are running Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2003 SP2. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available. </blockquote>
    reference: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3013455
one option may be to [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/remove-update#1TC=windows-vista roll-back this particular update] for now until there is a fix by microsoft or you could also look if there is a [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|graphics driver update]] available on the website of the vendor (intel/amd/nvidia) which might also resolve this problem in some cases.

  • Font embedding issue

I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
The font "Helvetica" will not embed on a PDF document that I have using the "Embed all fonts" pre-flight.  The actual font is 'Arial MT' (which is in my font library) but even the ArialMT fonts here are embedding as type 2 CID fonts:
    Fonts prior to embedding:
I use the "Embed fonts (even if text is invisible)" preflight, then the fonts look like this:
I've looked up that "Helvetica" font for purchase and the closest I found was the "HelveticaLTStd-Roman" font (according to the Adobe font cross reference list) so I've purchased and installed the font but it still won't embed.
Anyone know how can I get this font to embed? Do I need to purchase a different font (Helvetica-Medium)? Or is there something else going on?

I'm experiencing a related font issue in Illustrator: I'm unable to embed fonts in a PDF using Illustrator CS5.5 (Mac OS X 10.7). An Illustrator message says that their is a licensing restriction that prevents embedding the fonts in the PDF. The original ttf and otf fonts were initially purchased for a Windows machine years ago, and many of them came with Illustrator. I've embedded fonts in a PDF using Illustrator (on the Windows side) without a problem for many years.
Is this a font installation issue? Since the "installation" process is different for a mac, is it possible the fonts were not "activated" when they were copied to the library/fonts folder? The fonts do appear in the illustrator file, but not the PDF.
Could this be a Distiller issue? Is Distiller involved when Illustrator saves to a PDF?

here is question, i am assuming its fresh install not upgrade...
when you run the config wizard( you mentioned many times), which option you select from 2nd try to on ward....cannot disconnect this server from farm?
are you using any script to install ?
I would say run the config wizard without disconnecting and this server will host CA option.
from the central admin > manager server in farm...on top you will see farm version and config database name. note it
from the Manage database Upgrade status page note all the db names
now match it on sql and keep those and all other should gone now as a clean process.

  • Font smoothing issues with Samsun 23 inch LCD

I am having a font smoothing issue with my MacBook and my Samsung LN-S2352W 23 inch LCD (http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/LCDTV/LNS2352WXXAA.asp). I am using the mini-DVI to VGA adapter and the plugging that into the VGA port of my LCD. It doesn't matter which app I run, but as long as it has fonts, they come out blurry, hazy, colors bleed, etc.
I have played with the font smoothing settings and that has not helped at all. I have heard of TinkerTool and will try it to see if it makes any difference, but am not expecting much.
I also have a PC running Windows Vista and I connected it to the VGA port of my LCD. Wow...the difference in picture quality was astounding. I'm ******. I want my MacBook to look that sweet on my LCD.
Anyone have any thoughts? Can this be fixed?

    Mac OS10.9 Quark 9.5.4
Recently upgraded OS and Quark and my documents that use the font Avenir are not displaying correctly. Fonts leading has expanded so anywhere Avenir is used, the leading changes the layout and most text boxes are overset.
    - leading is set to Auto
    - do not use a font manager, I use FontBook- checked usage and font is not missing
    - deleted Avenir, emptied font cache, restarted and issue still exists- made a new user, packaged a file, opened in new user and issue still exists
    - not just one file, issue exists in every file I made that uses Avenir in my archive- had my colleague open the same archived files on their computers and files were correct
    - had colleague send me Avenir font, deleted out of my library, reloaded font and issue still exists
    - deleted font out of my library and just used Avenir system font, issue still exists- deleted Quark and re-uploaded, issue still exists
    - re-uploaded OS, issue still exists- did a thumbnail transfer of items from old doc to a new doc, issue still exists
    - have spent over 6 hours on the phone with Quark support and have numerous messages back and forth in a job ticket, no resolution
I would not normally use Quark, but a client reuqests it. I suspect I might have a corrupted system font but I am unsure. 3 weeks behind schedule on my project and am desperate for help. Any ideas?

I just found out my E3000 was no longer compatible with making a Guest Access password.  Spent a ton of time online chatting with a Linksys/Cisco rep who told me it was not longer compatible with the newer operating systems...BUT THIS IS A LIE! My E3000 works great with Yosemite.  A couple of things you need to know.  1.  You can no longer use the Cisco Connect CD to set up a Guest PW.  It has been replaced by a handy App, that you can download from the App store:  http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=156285 2.  You can change the settings on your Wifi router directly from this app.  No need to go into the 192.168.1.1 site and configure it but if you want to, you still can do this.  On the website, there is no way to configure the GUEST settings unfortunately.... 3.  You can configure a Guess Access code and set the number of computers allowed to use it at one time on the App.  After you set the code, it will bring you off line then online again.   Make sure you log in to your WIFI network under both Guest and your WIFI network to see if works.  For some reason, it took some time for my iPhone to bring me to the Guest sign-in page, but I eventually switched the ON/Off button on the Guest Password setup and it worked.  All guests should be redirected to a CISCO SIGN-IN page where they can log in with the guest Password. 4.  I can't believe the customer reps didn't tell me immediately about this app!  I gave it 1 star as it wasn't working very well until I reset everything and started over.  Maybe that was just my incompetence.... Good luck!  My 5 yr old dual band router is still working very well!  No need to get a new one to be compatible with Yosemite!

  • Font display issues

Upgraded to Lion on an iMac, now I have strange font display issues across applications and in browsers and specifically with numbers, somethimes letters.

Start with something relatively simple, like clearing the font cache files.
Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
Terminal will then ask for you to enter your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly.
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.

You're welcome. Again, as mentioned in that discussion, you can use Font Book to check if the foundry has entered any license limitation notices in the font info (Preview > Show Font Info).
Basically, fonts are code. The copyright applies to the code. If the product you distribute doesn't include the code, then the copyright does not apply to it. That's why embedding has to be dealt with specifically, because embedding fonts in a document means including the code or parts of it in the document.

Just like my title states, I was wondering if there's a way to view the last fonts installed in Fontbook?  Many times I forget the names of the fonts I recently installed and then I have to go looking for them manually.  Very frustrating!
