Font installation in JRockit with RHEL

I cannot find any information on how to install additional fonts that jrockit will see. For example, msttcorefonts gets installed in /usr/share/lib/fonts and both the Sun JVM (1.4.2) and the IBM JDK (1.4.2) see them and use them but jrockit (5.0 SP1) seems to just use the fonts it sees in its own directories.
This is on a RHEL4 system where -Djava.awt.headless=true is passed to the JVM under the assumption that no X11 server will be running even though it is installed.
I did a google search looking for this but couldn't find anything that seemed appropriate.

I will definitely try it again when I get SP2 for Linux RHEL4. I was actually using the SciMark test, but I modified it to run each calculation as a separate thread since I am on an SMP machine and then ran via JMeter for a long time to see how it behaved and it is true that after a few iterations, jrockit did become faster than at the start as it chose a better garbage collection method, optimized the code etc. But eventually the performance difference between HotSpot and JRockit wasn't significant enough for me to jump up and down want to change everything over to JRockIt - but again, I am just using SP1.
My application is basically drawing charts using financial data and so I have to generate charts via the data, create PNGs and compress them and send them out quickly for 1000s of charts continuously and so the more that I can process as a time the better. I'm currently finding that Sun's JVM is behaving a little better under production loads (using a filter so that site is still running Sun's JVM while I run JRockit on servers that aren't visible to the clients). I did manage to crash one Sun JVM too - but this might be a server problem since this machine has been giving me trouble anyway.
I'll wait for SP2 to come out before I do anything more on this. Maybe Sun's JVM is also having trouble with RHEL4 that includes the 2.6 kernel ...
I do put a lot of load on the JVMs, and until the NPTL happened, Java on Linux was nowhere near the performance we needed but now it is closer, though still not where we would like it to be (and where it is under Windows). But we really want to make the move to Linux and I am spearheading this and so I really want one of these JVMs to show me the kind of performance I need so I can make a case to switch to Linux and Java with Sun or BEA 5.0 JVMs ...
Gimme fast XML parsing, PNG compression and serious multithreading support on SMP machines and I'm there :)

I think that was Tecno. Techno appears to be a whole class of fonts.

That's a .ttf version which should work OK with current OS.
As an aside, I was searching for Apple Textile for quite some time when it was pointed out to me that it was used by iDVD. Sure enough, opened up the installer package for iDVD with Pacifist and there it was. Now working fine on all my Macs!

Font installation - No byte encoding

Trying to import a custom font with SE73 and receiving the error message 'No byte encoding - TrueType font installation impossible'. A number of other custom fonts of the same origin had previously been uploaded with no issues.
Does anybody know if there's a way to get round this in SAP or a way to modify the font, keeping in mind we only have access to the TTF file.

You need to Encode the particular font and then upload it .(since your font is true type which has byte difference with OS(since SAP is itself work like an OS ).Some OS automatically encode it .. some wont have that facility . (use different encoding schemes like SJIS , etc..),
(Eg : In case of HEART symbol a macintosh OS will need 3 bytes to store it , but window require 2 bytes .for the same)

You basically answered your own question. If you have access to another computer just go download the appropriate language and OS version of Firefox 5.0 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html and put it on you usb drive and then go and install it onto you pc.

For running SharePoint Designer 2013, you need to install Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework or higher.
Please uninstall the Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework, and install it again. After that, reboot your machine.

SAP R/3 4.6C Installation in HPUX with 4 sapdata files

Hi all,
We are building a sandbox system to perform our upgrade.
While installing SAP R/3 4.6c, in HPUX/Oracle 10g, we need to have only 4 sapdata filesystem:
Oracle/DV1/sapdata1
Oracle/DV1/sapdata2
Oracle/DV1/sapdata3
Oracle/DV1/sapdata4.
But while doing the installation it creates sapdata5 & sapdata6. But we don't want to have sapdata5 & sapdata6.
We need to do the installation within the 4 sapdata filesystems itself.
Can any one help me how and where to edit, so that the installation will fit withing the 4 sapdata FS itself.

Hi Srini,
If you are using sapinst tool you should be able to delete unavailable sapdatas easily in ur sapinst input DB parameters section, I also had the same issue.
Optional,you may be already aware it can also be solved by creating sapdata directories under /oracle/<SID>/... at OS level but be careful data files created will fall under your parent dir.

Hi All, anyone with this problem with Acrobat Pro XI, IM USING MAC, also Yosemite if that helps.
Also Adobe CC, BASICALLY IT just quit and i had to uninstall, re install, and I get this

Same problem. Creative Cloud subscriber running Mac 10.10.2 on iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014). All apps work fine EXCEPT for Adobe Acrobat XI. I have tried 100 times and 100 solutions. NOTHING works.

Which installation disks go with which computer?

I work at an elementary school where we have MacBooks, MacBook Pros, Mac minis, and different generations of iMacs. The person before me was not clear about labeling which installation disks go with which computers. Most of them say "For Mac Computers" and then have the software version on there as well. Is there a reference anywhere where I can look up the part number from the disks to see which model of computers they go with?

Regarding the which goes with which question, the O.P. may find it useful to know how the system discs that came with other users' Macs are marked. For mine:
iMac G5: "iMac G5" - Mac OS version 10.4 - AHT version 2.5.1 - Disc version 1 -p/n 2Z691-5317-A
MacBook: "MacBook" - Mac OS version 10.5.2 - AHT version 3A143 - Disc version 1.1 - p/n 2Z691-6209-A
iMac 2008: "For Mac Computers" - Mac OS version 10.5.4 - AHT version 3A152 - Disc version 1.1 - p/n 2Z691-6304-A
If other users post similar info for other Mac models the O.P. might be administering, some might see a side benefit for themselves: locating where in the heck they put their original system discs for safe storage!
A tip for the O.P.: It isn't a good idea to mark the OEM discs themselves with model info using a regular "Sharpie" or similar marker since the ink can over time seep through the gray surface paint layer into the optical layer beneath it, causing read errors. Either use a marker specifically made for this purpose or mark the sleeve with the info.

I don't think it is permissions as I have seen on some forums because the share has read/execute permissions for domain users and domain computers

If your old version of iTunes is still working - then I sugest you stick with that.
iTunes 11 is a lousy update - It will not retain your playlists, you can't find and delete duplicates... and a whole arry of oyher issues. (have a look around this forum to see how many issues IT11 gives people)

I used to have a plug-in which did that. It was called Font Replacer, but it doesn't have a version for Firefox 12 and its developer removed its page :(

So, now I find myself in a situation that I want exceptions for some rules. For example, I want to change the font Arial to Tahoma in all websites I visit, except for wikipedia.org, is that possible? Because I have a very long list of websites listed to change Arial to change to Tahoma, only because I don't want the rule to be applied to websites as wikipedia.org
I searched, but I'm unable to find something helpful :(

Adobe Type 1 Font is not compatible with Windows 8 64bit?

I found that Adobe Type 1 fonts are not compatible with applications that run on Windows 8 64bit. When used, the appearance of fonts on the screen is not correct. Even worse, the font does not appear at all in the CorelDRAW X6. Strangely, when printed, the fonts were no problems. How can I make these fonts can be used in Windows 8 64bit? For additional information, these fonts appear normally when reviewed through the Windows Fonts folder, but does not display correctly when used in the application.

I believe I have a similar issue. I do have the latest Windows updates.
I'm on a new Win8 system, and I installed my Adobe type collection (bought years ago with ATM) by copying the .pfm and .pfb files to Windows\Fonts (there's no right-click > install for fonts on Win8 it seems; copying the font files to the font directory is what I've read as the install procedure.)
Windows then shows an error about .pfb incompatibility, so I selected "skip" for those files.
The result is that my fonts are installed and usable BUT this really screws up IE10 for certain websites. For example, I get blank pages for sites like wordpress.org and validator.w3.org. There doesn't seem to be any way to fix this other than doing a system restore to a point before the fonts were installed. Removing the font files from the Windows\Font directory doesn't help. I don't use IE10 with any regularity but I need it to work for testing purposes.
Is there a way to install these fonts? Is there a way to uninstall them (other than a system restore) if they affect IE10?
It's really hard to install on a one-by-one basis as need arises because I can't tell what the font names are from the file names. There's no application, like a type viewer, that will show me the fonts if I double click the file. (I just ran into this now... I need to use a Garamond type face but have no idea which one it is by looking at the .pfm and .pfb files.)
I would consider buying Font Folio if this is the answer but it's only available for a minimum of 5 licenses? I'm a freelancer and only need one licence.
Should I just use an online tool to convert my .pfm/.pfb files to an OpenType or similar format?
