Font installation - No byte encoding

Trying to import a custom font with SE73 and receiving the error message 'No byte encoding - TrueType font installation impossible'. A number of other custom fonts of the same origin had previously been uploaded with no issues.
Does anybody know if there's a way to get round this in SAP or a way to modify the font, keeping in mind we only have access to the TTF file.

Hi,
You need  to Encode the particular font and then upload it .(since your font is  true type which  has byte difference with OS(since SAP is itself work like an OS ).Some OS automatically encode it  .. some wont have that facility . (use different encoding schemes like SJIS , etc..),
(Eg :  In case of HEART symbol a macintosh OS will need 3 bytes to store it , but window require 2 bytes .for the same)

  • What is Font Installation

I just got Ver 3 & was reading the Getting Started Guide
& Read Me PDF (yes some folks do read these things before
writing you). The guides say to read important information about
several topics. One of those topics is "Font Installation". I can't
find any information on that anywhere. What is this referring
    to?

    HI TrainerTom
I'm not sure what that would be referring to. To my
knowledge, Captivate does not rely upon any specific fonts being
present. It simply uses the fonts you have. I looked through my
ReadMe.PDF and find no mention of it. So maybe they updated and are
shipping a newer version of the file.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Signing byte-encoded TCL script for EEM

    Good day,
I am trying to figure out how to sign a TCL script which is distributed in byte-encoded form.
The byte coding is performed with TCL pro (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tclpro/files/TclPro-1.4.1/)
Any pointers on how to do it will be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Alexei

EEM 3.4 should support third party signing of Tcl policies.  As to whether or not byte-code compiled policies will be supported is uncertain.  However, you should be able to sign a byte-code compiled Tcl script (regular Tcl script, and not EEM policy) by putting the signature after the closing tbcload '}'.  I assume the same thing will eventually be doable with EEM.

  • Apple mail font changes with mail encoding

Apple mail will change the font automatically with the encoding of the message.
This might not be shown on Apple Mail, but it does when recieved in Microsoft Ouotlook / Windows.
When I send in Western Latin 1. font is Calibri
Switch the mail encoding to UTF-8, Font becomes Times new roman.
if mail encoding is DBCS like Big-5, it start to switch the big-5 default font on Windows and it's ugly.
This is serious, the change of fonts is very unprofessional.
And we can't ask everyone in the world ot switch to Apple mail, most of working system are still in Outlook...

Ok, on further research it doesn't seem to be as simple as I thought. It's hard for me to fully check now, as I've installed Universal Mailer, but it seems as if this might only apply to mail with a pre-formatted signature.
I've pasted the relevant part of the html from an affected email below. For obvious reasons I've replaced most of the text with asterisks, but as you'll see, some of the text (in italics) is in Verdana (in this case the first two lines), and some (in bold) isn't specified, and appears in whatever default font I choose. (I've added line breaks for clarity.)

  • How do I convert a double-byte encoded file to single-byte ASCII?

    Hello,
I am working with XML files (apparently coded in UTF-8) which encoded in double-byte characters.
The problem is the characters for end of line: 00 0D 00 0A
This double byte end of line is causing a problem with a legacy conversion tool (which deals with 0D 0A). The file itself contains no
accented/international characters, so in principle converting to single-byte should not cause any problems.
I have tried to convert this file with tools like native2ascii and the conversion tools that are part of Notepad++ but without
any luck - the "00 0D 00 0A" are still present in the output
Can anyone point me to a tool or some code that can convet this file into single-byte?
    Thank you.

    Amiens wrote:
    native2ascii.exe -encoding UTF-16 -reverse INPUT.xml OUTPUT.xml
    gives 00 00 0 0D 00 00 00 0A
so clearly that is not the required output. What you've got there is UTF-16 encoded text that's been converted to UTF-16. Get rid of the "-reverse" option and you should see the result you expect.

  • Font installation problem

    Hi
    I have problemin installing font.
I used Suitcase X1 for long time and now, after unistall it, when I try to install a font using Font Book, the font is not installed.
When I try to add the font to Font Book using CMD+O often Font Book Crashes (But the font are added to User/Library/Fonts/ )
I used several tools such as Applejack, FontNuke to clean the cache and repair the permissions and prefs but nothing happens.
Is there anybody can help me?
    Many thenks.

Try setting Font Book Preferences ...
Open Font Book and choose Font Book > Preferences.
    Choose from the following preferences:
Default Install Location: To make the fonts you install available only to you, choose User, which installs fonts in Library/Fonts/ in your home folder. To make fonts available to all the computer’s users, choose Computer, which installs fonts in Library/Fonts/ at the top level of your hard disk.
Validate fonts before installing: Select this checkbox to automatically validate all fonts before they are installed.
    Validating fonts
Automatic font activation: Select this checkbox to enable fonts on your computer whenever they are needed by an application, even if you haven’t installed the fonts using Font Book. For example, if someone sends you a document that uses a font you haven’t installed, but the font is in your Documents folder, Font Book will find and enable the font so the document appears correctly.
NOTE: If you turn off Spotlight searching for any folder or any disk connected to your computer, Font Book can't find and enable fonts in those locations.
Ask me before activating: Select this checkbox to have Font Book ask for your permission before automatically enabling a font.
Alert me if system fonts change: Select this checkbox to be alerted before changing any fonts used by Mac OS X to display onscreen text.

  • Font Installation Issue

I have both an early 2011 MacBook Pro and a late 2012 27" iMac. Both are running the most updated versions of Yosemite, and I have no other issues with fonts - however, my company uses Gotham as it's main font - and I am only able to use it on the iMac.
While there was no issues with installation on either machine, the font will NOT load within any of my software on the MacBook Pro - CS, MS, etc. It simply does not show up in the font menus. Fontbook doesn't show any issues. I'm at a loss as to whether this is an issue with my MacBook - or if this font maybe has limitations on how many machines it can be installed on - The entire suitcase was purchased for our company from the agency which originally developed their branding.
Unfortunately I can't get help from the  provider of the font because my name isn't listed as the purchaser and we don't have the specifics since it was a few years ago it was bought on our behalf.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Very common issue with a damaged Font Book database. It needs to be reset.
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until you see a progress bar towards the bottom of the screen. You can let go of the Shift key at that point.
OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally. This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode.

  • Font installation on Windows 7

    Hi,
I'm trying to include a font in a distribution kit.  I've included it by having it installed to the [Fonts] location on the target computer in the "Edit Installer" dialog.  If I install my application on a Windows XP computer the font seems to install fine, I can see it under "Control Panel"->"Fonts", and my application is able to use the font with no problems.  If I use the same installation package on a Windows 7 system, the font seems to get copied to C:\Windows\Fonts (confirmed through the command prompt), however, the font does not show up in control panel, and my application is not able to use the font, even after rebooting the PC.
Any ideas why the installation package is having problems installing the font?  I can manually install the font then it shows up properly in control panel and my application is then able to use it.  Is it something I'm missing in the installation options?
The computer I'm using to generate the installer is running Windows XP SP3 with CVI 2012.  The target PC is running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.  Thanks.
    Solved!

Okay - so the installer is moving the .tff file to the Fonts folder. You'll probably need to include a script or batch file to install the font. A quick search brought this page up, which also explains why placing the .tff file in the Fonts folder doesn't necessarily install the font: http://blogs.technet.com/b/rspitz/archive/2010/09/25/how-to-install-a-font-from-the-command-line-on-...

  • How to parse 10 byte encoded data from Omegatte HH306 Thermometer/Datalogger?

I am trying to write a simple code for an OMEGAETTE HH306 Thermometer/Datalogger from omega.com.
Here is the problem. I communicate with the device via RS-232, using Labview 8.5.1 and windows xp. I query it for "all encoded data", which is basically the only option. It returns 10 bytes of encoded data, the manual describes the meaning of each byte, and I understand all of it. The problem is that I cannot seem to parse the information for use within labview, for example: I want to extract the temperature and simply display it.
upon query, I get: 10bytes (read as a string from the serial port read buffer):     HEX display: 02 00 A8 B6 48 FF EF B6 49 03      This is perfect, and what I expect.     Codes Display: \02\00\A8\B6H\FF\EF\B6I\03               The Normal Display is a series of special characters, which I don't understand, especially since I don't think they represent the ascii characters that should correspond to the hex numbers returned!   For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to extract the information (which is the 6 48 in the hex display) from what is returned. All the string manipulation functions seem to only work on what is given in the Normal Display. (The 4th and 5th byte of the data are the BCD codes for the temperature: for example the temperature was 64.8 degrees farenheight when I took this reading).
Can anyone help me to parse the data returned by this device?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Ok... I think I figured it out. I found this: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/77C8F61D36F5A23086256634005ACB38?OpenDocument.
I guess the garbled normal display is the ascii characters corresponding to each hex number. I am just not used to seeing ascii characters beyond the decimal number 127, or hex 7F.
So basically, to parse the 10 bytes of data:
    1) break up the string read from the serial port into the 10 individual ascii characters (using  String subset vi)
    2) wire each output string into the left input of 10 distinct Type Cast vi's.
    3) wire a U8 constant into each "type" terminal of the Type Cast vi's.
    4) wire the string output of each Type Cast vi into the input of a  number to hexadecimal string vi.
    5) concatenate or use as you would like the hex numbers (now in string format) that result.
    Cheers.

  • Can someone help me troubleshoot font installation for CS5?

I have purchased fonts from the Adobe store. I have Windows 7 and am using Adobe CS5 in the cloud. I have gone through installation of the fonts through Windows and then copy/pasted the fonts into the Programs/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts Recommended (and Fonts Required) folders. My Adobe Illustrator still does not recognize them and tells me I have an unrecognizable font in my files. Please help.

    Hi Mylenium,
I wish I could say that worked - they are still not visible / useable to me in the Adobe products. What else can I do to fix this?

  • Exchange Mangager installs zero byte bundles.

    Hi,
    1) I built an extension out of the c++ Xcode sample and
tested it to work in Flash CS3.
    2) I then created a very simple .mxi install that installs
the one file into the External Libraries folder.
    3) I then built an .mxp install using Exchange Manager,
    version 1.8.169 (the latest).
The Sample.bundle increases the size of the .mxp by its size.
So, I know the mxp file has stored the Sample.bundle file inside
    it.
    4) I ran the install.
    Result:
The file (Sample.bundle) that was written to the External
    Libraries file is zero bytes.
I have repeated this using multiple configurations inside the
.mxi and it consistantly creates a zero byte file.
    Any ideas?

  • MacBook Air/nvidia GeForce9400M/driver issue  font installation fails on xp

xp sp3 on a MacBook Air (bought 04-2009, 2x 1,86 GHz, 128 GB SSD) fails to install otf type fonts with an error message. Also Adobe Photoshop 10 (CS3) will crash upon trying to insert writing into a jpeg, tif, psd etc.
Source of problem: The nvidia graphic driver needs some more memory allocation than xp expects.
Remedy: open the registry editor (START>RUN>regedit)
    navigate to the following key:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement
    add a new REG_DWORD Value
change the name of the value to
    SessionImageSize
    set its value (decimal) to
    20
    reboot
-- this problem would only seem to affect xp sp3 systems with nvidia graphics
-- be sure to backup your registry before changing it and
be sure to know what you are doing before editing the registry
Apparently this problem has been recognized by nvidia and implemented in their latest driver release. This is not suited, however, for Apple products, since they have further customized the nvidia driver (and apparently NOT included this fix!).
The fix will resolve the problems mentioned above with installing otf type fonts and inserting writing into pics in photoshop. Photoshop, however, continues to crash upon exiting, an issue not yet resolved.

    Hi and welocme to Discussions,
use the SafeBoot options of XP as described here http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B315222&x=10&y=11
Use Safe Mode (=Minimal) to startup XP with a minimal set of drivers and from there uninstall the not-working Nvidia drivers.
The reinstall the drivers that worked.
You might wanna tryout if 'Last Known Good Configuration' works.

  • Font Installation InDesign CS2

I purchased an Adobe font, downloaded and tried to install it to use with InDesign
CS2, Windows XP. I have copied it into the InDesign Font folder, which appears to be empty--no no other visible files--except for the new font I put there. Rebooted InDesign--it still does not recognize the new font. I then went to the Control Panel and tried to add it to the system font folder -- the system tells me there is no font there in the InDesign font folder. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the answer -- did I unzip the file? Yes, I did; however, I only unzipped what I thought was the actual font file, not the other 32 or so files that were also in there. Extracted all, and that did the trick. Thank you!

  • Font Installation not Happening

I realize this is more of an encompassing "Design CS4" question, but since there isn't a forum dedicated to the package as a whole... .  I am having serious difficulties with installing fonts to the design software from my computer (Control Panel).  I have tried to use ATM Light, but no go, the fonts I need to install are not showing up!  I had no problems installing Helvetica PostScript fonts, but the Helvetica TrueType fonts are not installing (see attached screen shot).  I have tried installing them directly from my computer and again from the Helvetica font CD.  I am on a PC, using CS4.  My coworker (same setup, same software) had no trouble at all installing these fonts.  My network administrator has no idea what the problem could be and has all but given up on trying to help me.  Unfortunately, I am on deadline with several projects that need to utilize the Helvetica TrueType fonts.  If I need to clarify this issue a bit more, please let me know.

Well, when I said that multiple formats of identically-named fonts are a source of issues, I wasn't kidding.
    1) Tell us your OS! It matters.
    2) Yank all Helveticas from your machine
    3) Try to copy (not install) straight from the disk to your \Adobe\InDesign CS4\Fonts folder
    4) If they all show up in ID, you know that they're successfully being copied off the disk.
    5) If they don't all show up in ID using this method, you know it's not a PS-fonts-versus-Windows problem. (InDesign doesn't use the parts of WIndows that handle fonts; Adobe wrote their own font-handling stuff.)
Nos. 3-5 are meaningless if you are unsuccessful in completing no. 2.
Oh yeah, are you sure they're not installing? Font naming conventions are odd sometimes, and your 55 Roman Italic might be showing up in InDesign as a separate font, or as a style of Helvetica. (If you still have Helvetica truetypes installed and this italic face is one of your Postscript faces, then that's your problem right there.)

  • Font installation leads to change in Page Size

    Hi Everyone,
I'm using Crystal Reports to generate PDF reports and encountered a couple of issues.
Firstly, I was unable to get the Crystal SDK to format the report in the manner I expected. The text that was configured to be displayed in bold font wasn't being displayed in Bold. The answer provided in this thread:([PDF export in Linux|PDF export in Linux) was of great help. I was able to fix this issue.
However, I have now run into another problem. The text that I have configured to be displayed in bold font is being displayed as expected but the now Crystal SDK is generating the report in a page size different from what I have configured the report to be displayed in. So if I have configured the report to be displayed in Letter size in the .rpt file, the Crystal SDK is generating the report in Legal size. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
