Font issue in keynote: it doesn't keep my selected font

Recently, all my keynote presentations (newly created or old ones) lost their choosen fonts. All the text is reset to what looks like an italic Arial.
the funny thing is, if I change the font in the master, reapply master to file, it is fine, but if I save, close, then reopen my file, the font is back to the Arial Italic.... very bizarre behaviour. I tried many things, nothing would do.

Try running FontNuke

Use it to clear all your font caches, then see if the problem is fixed.

After updating to 10.6.3, I installed the 10.6.8 update just to start experiencing these font issues. HELP! How do I get the fonts to display correctly in my browsers especially (Chrome & Safari)

What I ended up having to do was open up the Font book & remove duplicates. I knew it was Arial that was causing the problem, so I deleted the duplicate of that font. Inadvertantly I deleted all the Arial regular font, so I had to reinstall one copy. That was the solution. Thanks!

  • Font issue - in all my replies, sent and forwarders the font is different size and style.

font issue - in all my replies, sent and forwarders the font is different size and style. Sometimes it changes while I am typing in mid sentence. I tried to adjust using tools, options, advanced. But nothing seems to stick. How can I make all emails have same font style and size?

I do not know how up to date this is, but there are menus listed in how the message displays when you compose and open an email. [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Font_settings_in_Thunderbird#Message_display] That may help you set the preferences.

  • System Preferences doesn't keep Sound Selection on Miglia TV mini+

    Dear all,
I have a problem with selecting the "TVmini+" option in the system preferences window of my PowerMac. This selection jumps back to "Line input" every time the preferences window is closed. Consequently there is no sound from the TVmini+.
When I bought the Miglia TV adapter every thing was working and I did have good quality sound. I haven't been using the TV adapter for about one year, but now I like to use the adapter to record home movies, but alas no sound any more.
I have thrown away various apple sounds~.plists from the Hard Drive library Preference directory and also out of the USER preferences library. In the mean time apple software has renewed them with fresh/new .plists.
Could this problem be caused by updating Apple software in the past, since it has been functioning correctly?
Can anyone help me out with this annoying problem?
Thanks so far for your help.
    Hans

    Hi BDAqua,
Good thought of you, unfortunately it did not work out! I schedule to make a reinstallation of OS 10.3 on my other HardDisk and see if I can get it back to work again. The point is that I can't tell where things went wrong, since updates are carried out automatically by Apple anf I haven't used the Miglia for over a year!
Thanks in any case for your suggestion, and if I found a solution I certainly will report back.

  • Type copied from Photoshop to InDesign doesn't keep font, size, etc..

Is there a way to copy type set in Photoshop and paste it into InDesign and have it keep the font, size, leading info? Using CS3 here at work, and occasionally get Photoshop files with type for position, that we need to set in InDesign. I try to copy the type and paste it into InDesign, but it doesn't keep the same font, or size, etc... I've tried looking into the preferences, but don't see anything that would help my cause. Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Steve

Bob, Thanks for the response, though not the answer I was hoping for! :-) You'd think that between the 2 Adobe applications, you'd be able to copy and paste type and have it hold all the info. Oh well.

  • PDF Format Oracle Reports font issue

My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
    Their key map is:
    Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS ser is generating and saving the report in the specified location.Reports are running on the server locally and DESTYPE=FILE. So the Oracle Reports output is saved on the server itself. Whenever i open the report on my machine/server i have font issue. Some of the reports has very tiny font. It seems the reports generated by using oracle reports which is Arial Unicode font type is causing the problem. If any reports other then Arial Unicode font like Arial Westrn, those reports are fine. We have 1000s of reports. So we don't want to change each report font type. For me it seems the issue is with the font on the server. Is there anyway to ask App server use Arial Westrn if Arial Unicode not found. How to make these configuration changes in the server. Any suggestions please.

Maybe this helps or at least points you in some direction ...
Have a look at font aliasing when configuring Application Server : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_font.htm#i1006140
If your Application Server is located on Windows I would suggest to install the fonts there.
In Unix, this a more complex task.

  • When I try and export from pages to word I get an unknown error.  No font issues that I know of.

I used to be able to export documents from pages to word.  Things seemed to have changed after Lion.  Whenever I go to export to Word, I get "an unknown error has occurred".  I tried all the font solutions found on here and everything is validated and I don't think it's a font issue.  It's a brand new document with Helvetica as the only font.
    Thanks, chadrs

    I'm unaware of such change.
May you send the Pages document to my mailbox ?
Click my blue name to get my address.
I would check the way it behaves on my own system.
This way we would know if the culprit is the doc or your system.
You wrote "I tried all the font solutions found on here and everything is validated and I don't think it's a font issue."
Must I understand that you trashed the fonts cache file dedicated to iWork ?
If you didn't (what I assume), trash it for see.
    This file is :
    <startupVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Caches:com.apple.iWork.fonts
For safe I repeat that under Lion, to reach this Library folder we must press the option key while opening the menu "Go to" to be able to trigger the menu item "Library".

  • Font issues when importing work docs in Pages/Keynote...

    Hi!!!
Just got an iPad and am trying to use it for work. The problem is, almost every time I import/open a document, presentation and in some cases even PDF files I get a message on missing fonts.
This is specially hard on presentations, where the corporate template is almost illegible after Keynote plays "change the font"... Of course, trying to contribute back to a document is almost unthinkable (I have to revert to commenting via email)... And the "sweet spot" I was hoping for, being able to go to meetings without my laptop, to do presentations, is not possible as the corporate presentations are a big mess...
From what I have been able to see, there is no way to add fonts to the iPad currently (other than jailbreak, which I'd like to avoid)...
Are there any plans to allow for some way to solve the issues? How are people coping with this problem?
    Thanks
      Javier

There is no way for users to add fonts to any iOS device.  You need to use the fonts which they have installed or use a laptop or other full computer where you can modify things the way you want.
A list of iOS fonts is at
    http://www.michaelcritz.com/2010/04/02/fonts-for-ipad-iphone/
Nobody can tell you what Apple's plans are, but you can tell them what you want here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
The next version of iOS, 5, will be released in the fall, but I don't think it includes any ability for users to add fonts.
Safari does have the capability to display fonts embedded in webpages, but I doubt that will meet you needs.

  • Font issues exporting PDF in Keynote 6.5

Is anyone else experience font issues exporting PDF's in Keynote 6.5?
My entire team has been having issues specifically exporting the font Merriweather. It's been fine in the presentation itself, but in the PDF - it's spaced out aggressively and the font weight/type/size is always wrong.
It's been a real hassle, as our brand body copy font is Merriweather and we've never had a problem with it.

The conversion issue seems to be tied to OTF fonts. Converting Merriweather to TTF, deleting OTF versions from Font Book, and/or System Font Folder worked for us. Clearing font cache and restarting can further flush out any legacy conflicts.

  • I installed indesign CS5 on new macbook pro and keeps freezing with spinning wheel once the app opens. Is there an issue with OS Mav or font issue or a plist I can pull. All other Adobe products work.

I installed indesign CS5 on new macbook pro and keeps freezing with spinning wheel once the app opens. Is there an issue with OS Mav or font issue or a plist I can pull. All other Adobe products work.

Migration should never be done with any Adobe program.
If you have done Migration, you have to UNINSTALL first (if even possible) and then download Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and run that also. When this is done, restart your computer and install the programs from an original Adobe Installer.
Other question is, if your OS is supporting that version. You can try it, it is not officially supported, but it might work.
But CC will work, upgrade to CC2014 (without additional cost), use that as it is better anyway.

  • Mac/PC Font Issues in Flash -- Need Help Please

    Hi,
I have an fla file that I need to update but I am having the font issue that occurs between Mac & PCs.
I need to export a swf file from an fla file I have. If I send someone the fla file and the font file (Futura Book) could you please export it for me? Someone with a PC? My letters keep getting cut off and I've tried to play around with the spacing already.
    Thank you!!!!
    Allie

I don't know the answer to that one but you can use the Mouse Over and Click method I have described on this page....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Tricks/MouseOver.html
    It works in IE.
Its just a question of making up two different buttons with text for each link, taking a screenshot and cropping them and adding the JPEGs to your upload folder.
You can make up the buttons on an iWeb page and then delete them when you have taken the screenshots. I usually do this sort of thing in Keynote so that I can save them in case I need to modify them.

  • CS5 v.15.0.2 Font issues. Need some help.

So after installing the newest version of Illustrator (15.0.2) I started to notice that I was unable to scroll through the fonts. I'd type the text out, then scroll through the list to find one that fit the design, but illustrator would skip to the fonts at the end of the list, the ones after the dividing line. When I try this same action in Photoshop it works fine, displays all the fonts doesn't skip.
First I tried removing the offending fonts, by scrooling through the list and keeping an eye out for the skip, then going into the font folder and removing the offending font. This method has worked great, up until now. Illustrator has found a font that isn't in the font folder. I downloaded a font managment program called Nexus Font this program works well and all but it can't find this font either. I've done a search for the font and have come up empty handed.
What is my next move? Is this a common issue? How can Illustrator find a font that isn't in the font folder?
    Illustrator SC5 v.15.0.2
    Windows XP

Two things - One, turn off "Enable Missing Glyph Protection" under your type preferences and second, clean your font caches.
It's pretty common for both issues to come up if you're in the habit of installing fonts you find on the web.  99% of the time, you're fine though.  The lack of scrolling is usually a bad font, and Illustrator's refusal to get over it is the corrupt font cache.

  • Font Book - after 10.5.2 update, font has no preview and doesn't work

Help me, this problem is driving me crazy!
I've done a clean install of Leopard 10.5.0 on my MacBook Pro, on an external firewire drive (I want to keep my Tiger install as is at the momement). I install the adobe postscript Type 1 font Carta, which is a map symbol font, in Font Book. Font Book shows the preview of the font, which looks fine. I download a fresh 10.5.2 update and install it, restart. Now in Font Book, no preview of the Carta font, the preview window is blank, or it shows whichever font was displayed before, ie if I click on Arial then on Carta, the preview of Arial remains. Double clicking on the font itself opens Font Book main window, but no preview. The Opentype version of this font does exactly the same thing. Font Book validates the fonts as being okay.
When it comes to applications, Word 2004 will display the font, but character spacing is all over the place. Indesign CS3 will display the first 96 characters correctly, but after that it puts in a 'missing font' highlighted space. Opening the font with Linotype FontXplorer, the preview shows the font, though it seems to be missing the 'Z' and 'z'. Character Palette shows all glyphs in the font correctly, but double clicking on any above the first 96 puts in a 'missing font' space in Indesign. The trouble is the characters I need to use are all above this point in the font! Basically, it seems that the OS update has changed the font mapping.
The Font Book preview problem doesn't just happen to Carta, it seems to happen on a number of other fonts, mostly symbol fonts, some that I've created using Fontographer. All work perfectly in OS9 and 10.4.11. Even more annoyingly, other colleagues with different Macs on 10.5.2 are having no problems. I have done all the usual voodoo of deleting font caches, rebuilding permissions, even gone back to the font CDs to get the originals, reinstalled, etc.
I have installed Leopard from 2 different DVDs, on two different intel machines (a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro), and swapped the Firewire drive onto a G4 (I installed it so it would boot both the G4 and the MBP), and always the same result. I'm going to install an HD internally on the G4, install Leopard and see if the same thing happens.
    Anybody got any useful suggestions?

I'm slowly getting to a solution, or at least a reason, for this problem. It seems that Leopard has tighter requirements on fonts for the languages they support. The Carta info in Tiger looks like this:
    Whereas under Leopard it says:
Indonesian as the language under Leopard?! All the other fonts that I have problems with generally have NO language when I look at the info panel under Leopard AND Tiger. But Tiger seems to cope with them with my language set to British English. At least this may explain why the character encoding goes a bit crazy under Leopard.
Out of a peculiar sort of masochistic interest, I went through all of the default languages, plus a few others, that Leopard installs, seeing the effect of changing the language on the Font Book preview. I should just say that the Font Book Repertoire is always the same for all the languages, and the same info is displayed each time too. I'm now convinced it's the character mapping that changes when different languages are selected as the default.
    Font Book Repertoire:
All the following languages displayed the preview correctly: English, Francais, Deutsch, Espanol, Italiano, Portugues, Svenska, Norsk Bokmal, Dansk, Suomi.
    The preview looked like this:
The following languages showed the same behaviour as British English, in that NO preview showed, it would display the font preview of the previously selected font: Portugues (Portugal), Austalian English, Canadian English, US English, Espanol (Espana)
Changing to languages with different alphabets tended to show different things. Not sure if I've correctly identified the languages.
The two Chinese (I think) languages - AaBbCc characters only
    Japanese (I think) - a to m, A to M, numbers 1 to 0
Korean (I think) - two arrows usually mapped to singe and double quotation marks, and ABcdEFgh 1234567890 - see this image:
    Russian (I think) - 1234567890 ("*#%&@`)
Polski - This produced the most, dropping several characters from the main alphabet, but adding a load that usually map to ("*%&') - see below:
This all means that I have to stick with "English" as my Language, rather than "British English". I have yet to reinstall CS3, but I'll do this without changing the language, and hopefully CS3 with get the encoding correct.
Questions? Comments? Sorry about all the images.

  • Font issue in Photoshop CS2

    Hi!
I just encountered a rather annoying problem I don't know how to solve. So far I couldn't find any solution on forums either.
Recently I got the new Intel-based MacBook Pro. Although I had known about the problems beforehand as well as about perfermance issues I now encountered a new problem:
My Photoshop CS2 doesn't render or save fonts properly anymore. They all look wrong.
This problem occured a few days ago and it's only when I create Text layers in Photoshop. When I import Illustrator or PDF files I have no problem but those are pixels or shape objects. The other programmes work fine, no problems with fonts there.
Does anyone know how I can solve this? It's a very big and urgent problem for me as I use Photoshop everyday! Thanks!

The fonts look pixelated and jagged. Even when I print or save them and open that PSD document on a different computer they look that way. I only experience this problem in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are fine. I work on a MacBook Pro and run Mac OS 10.4.8 on it.
So far I tried to delete the Font Cache as well as Preferences and did a Repair Disk Permissions. No luck.
Not sure whether the driver for my scanner (Canon) that I had downloaded and installed might have cause these problems as this problem appeared afterwards.
I did a search for this problem but couldn't find any other suggestion then to reinstall Photoshop under a new user. Unfortunately I don't really see this as a real solution to the problem.

  • Font issue: 1550 Regular

    Hello everyone,
I'm currently having some very frustrating trouble with a font: 1550 Regular (the link is to dafont.com) : it doesn't show in my applications.
    What I'm working with:
    MacBook Pro (Retina, 13", mi-2014), Intel Core i5 2,6GHz, 8Go 1600 MHz DDR3, Flash storage 120,15Go (40,32 available)
    Pages 5.5.2
    Microsoft Word 2011 14.4.7
    What I've done:
    I've downloaded a few fonts from dafont.com
Opened them, clicked "Install this font"
None of those fonts were available.
    Restarted the computer.
All fonts available, except this one, 1550.
I've cleared the font cache (with FontNuke), validated the font (No problem detected. Using this font shouldn't cause any issue), deleted it, reinstalled it again, cleared the cache again, to no avail.
I have literally no idea what's going on. This is a .tff font, I can't see any difference with any other font (based on what the Font Book tells me)… frankly, I'm lost.
If it helps, one of my friends, running on Windows (don't know which one though) could use it with no problem.
Does anyone have any solution to offer?
    Cheers,
    Thouny

Yes I can! It just doesn't show in the >français category… Maybe that's the problem, hey! The font doesn't have French as language (and this is a French-made font… go figure).
Do you know how I can access it via Microsoft Word (I can't seem to find it in the list…), or how I could add French to the languages of the font (can I edit the .tff file?).
Thanks a lot for your answer anyway
