Font issues in Illustartor going from Mac to PC

We are using Illustrator CS3 with Adobe Open Type fonts on both a PC and Mac machine. When opening an .ai file on the PC that was created on the Mac, we get all the missing font errors. Both computers have the same fonts installed. The interesting thing is that files created on the PC open fine on the Mac without any font issues. What's the deal?

Font issue in exported PDF from indesign:
In Indesign file we have kept a sentence in “Univers LT Std” (San serif font) with all caps style that was orginally in lower case. Refer below
When we selected the sentence in exported PDF some of the characters are not selected. Refer below.
If we enable “create tagged PDF“ in export PDF setting, then the problem is solved. Refer below.
Can you please check why this problem happened? In another project also we have faced this same problem but different font “Frutiger LT Std” with all caps style. Here also same San serif font. Please check and advise to solve this issue permanently.

Without tags a PDF is a silly amount of letters, images and lines, with tags all itams a kept in their semantic context. So work with tags as it is the only way to get correct selections and export to other file types like Word DOCX.
Without tags InDesign reads from left to right from top to bottom and the font geometry might influence the correct order of letters.
Why should anyone work without tags today? If you open a tagged PDF in Acrobat DC it is much faster than without tags.

Going from mac to pc- genius bar screwed me

Okay I had my ipod since january and I had a problem with it once, my computer was taking too long to recognize it. So I took it into the genius bar and he connected it to his macintosh, I am an adament PC user (i know i know i need to get a mac), I told him i use a pc and everything, My pc is not recognizing my ipod, im getting a message that says "Device is not formatted for Windows" so i naturally went to the restore so i can reformat it but the ipod updater says unable to mount ipod. I have 5k songs on my ipod now i need to add another k of songs and im so frustrated please someone help a fellow ipod user out. Basically i need to reformat my ipod from mac to pc using a pc cuz i dont have a mac.

There are no songs on your iPod, right (since it was restored)?
Make sure the software on your computer is up to date...

Update iPod's Software
Also, try connecting the iPod via a different USB port.
You may want to try putting the iPod in Disk Mode prior to connecting it and see if you are able to restore it (while it is in Disk Mode)...

Finally, if you can't get the iPod to restore, then try connecting it and opening My Computer. Does the iPod show up in My Computer? Try right clicking it and going to Format. Does anything happen?

Sound issues making phones calls from Mac

When making or receiving calls thru continuity on my Mac (27" Late 2013; IOS 8.1 iPhone 5S), the person on the other end says the call sounds like I'm in a tunnel, has some distortion and is at times not clear enough to understand what I'm saying. I have used the internal microphone on the mac and have also used a "Yeti" external microphone with the same results. I did try "Face Time" audio as a test and the sound was much improved and satisfactory at the caller's end. There are no issues with the sound from my end sitting at the computer.

Going from .Mac to Comcast

Hi. When I bought our iMac almost 2 years ago I signed us up with Comcast as our isp. Each of us has his own email address with Comcast. Although I also have a Comcast email address, I chose to use my .Mac email address. Now I've decided to not re-new my .Mac account and need to switch email service from .Mac to my Comcast address. Since I am subscribed in so many places (including Discussions), is it possible to have my email go to my Comcast mail instead of my .Mac account? Thanks for any help.

Why Can't I Open My PNG Files? Going from MAC to PC

I created .png files in Photoshop CS on my MAC. Now I can't open them in Photoshop 6 on my PC running Windows Vista. Why? The files open as blank. All .jpg and .psd files open with no trouble.

I just installed PhotoShop 6.0 on from an old disk (licensed) onto my laptop Toshiba PC running Windows Vista. I have had no problems so far except for this .png issue. I basically just wanted a high-resolution image with a transparent background. I suppose I could try to save them again as uncompressed .psd images on my MAC and try opening them again on the laptop...but I hate having to do weird things like that. png should work!

Font issue when creating PDF from web page with Acrobat 8

I have a group of documents created with html/css that i am converting to pdf. Everything works slick except for some reason every HTML page that spans more than one printable page in the PDF the first page body text looks bold, the rest of the text (on the subsequent pages) is not. I have 15 documents linked together and its doing it for everyone one, first page looks bold rest of pages not.
I have checked all the font attributes in both the pdf and the html, there is nothing set to bold and all fonts have the exact same settings...
Does anyone know what is going on? I am pretty green with Acrobat but not new to web tech.
What am I missing here?
Also when printed it looks fine, no issues, issues only in screen view...

It may be that the page sizes are varying and you are seeing a zoom affect. Try setting the size to a specific value and see if it looks the same. That's a guess anyway.

Issue to buy apps from Mac App Store

Helo everyone!
Unfortunately I am still experiencing difficulties with App Store. Today I formatted my Mac Book Pro and set it with my Apple ID (@me.com). This Apple ID is the one that I use in my iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Both are working perfectly.
After I've set the Mac Book Pro, I checked purchase pane and I saw the apps iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband and the following message:
" To receive updates, the packages of apps iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand will be assigned to your Apple ID. One specific hardware ID of your computer should be sent to Apple to verify the classification."
When I tried to Accept the apps, again I couldn't install because those apps were assigned to another Apple ID.
When I purchased the Mac Book Pro, in that occasion I think I've assigned those apps with another Apple ID that I used (@hotmail.com). I don't remember the password and I didn't use anymore this Apple ID.
Probably the problem should be in this point. Those apps are assigned with Apple ID (@hotmail.com) and my Hardware ID (9BD1BCC6-44AD-5C0A-8DE4-185C11311D74).
Is there a way to remove this association (ID @hotmail.com and Hardware ID)?
Is there a way to reset the "Accept" option (picture 3) so I can actually purchase the apps?

Once you have accepted the bundled apps into an Apple ID you cannot change that. If Lion came installed on your Mac when you bought the Mac, it is also assigned to that Apple ID. Normally Apple does not merge Apple IDs, nor change content acquired with one ID to another ID. You should try to resurrect your old Apple ID by updating the password.

Going from Mac to PC environment - keyboard shortcut help

I just began working on a PC workstation and realized how much of a hassle it is due to the fact that the keyboard shortcut locations are so different. For instance...
If I wanted to perform an Undo, I would push Apple+Z on my Mac keyboard. However if I am on a PC and wish to do an Undo, I would have to push Ctrl+Z (which unlike a Mac is NOT the button next to the spacebar).
The button next to the spacebar on a PC happens to be the Alt button, which is what I always end up hitting because I'm so used to working on a Mac1 Does somebody have a PC Adobe Creative Suite preset file that conains all the keyboard shortcuts with the Alt and Ctrl buttons already switched? Or is there some way I could easily switch the Alt and Ctrl buttons without having to change each individual command manually? Thanks.

How about thinking outside of the box... the Creative Suite box? What happens when you are using something other than a CS app and need to undo something? Those CS shortcuts would not really help you and would cause more confusion.
As one that uses both platforms, I can assure you that what you are experiencing should be very temporary. It is not that difficult to mentally manage the shuffling of a couple keys.
If you are committed to modifying your keyboard, you could try an app like this:

You could also use this app with a Mac keyboard connected to your Windows computer, as suggested above. If I recall correctly, a Mac keyboard on Windows will make the COMMAND key equal to the WINDOWS key. Either, way, you are setting yourself up for huge headaches because these keys mean slightly different things on each computer. Just learn how to use the Windows keyboard as it is. I'm sure you cannot really be mentally challenged over this.

I was trying to use my ipod as a kind of flash drive, but when i got to school to retrieve my paper off my ipod, the pc computer said that my external disc was not formatted. I DID NOT format my ipod. Any Ideas on how to remedy this?

Open up an iPod Updater on a Windows machine and restore the software. I'm not sure if it works on the Update option

Mapping fonts from Mac to Windows in CS4

What is the most efficient process to map fonts in multiple documents opened from Mac to Windows?
Currently we are working on 600+ documents that we need to convert to Windows from Mac. Every time we open a new document, the missing fonts dialog comes up. We replace the fonts. However, it appears there's no provision to automatically do this for every new opened document without manually going through this process each time!
Couldn't find any reference to this issue in Help, KB, forum. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

OK guys, here's where we are now: apparently there's no way to batch process multiple documents without going each time through the "missing fonts" dialog. However, we were able to make this process as short as possible by using "load character styles" for each document when opened.
And it's possible to do this across the network.
Going through "load character styles" and synchronizing two documents [the saved one and the latest opened one], we are able to at least map the fonts consistently from doc to doc. This operation is still time consuming, especially considering the large number of docs we have to process.
I'm going to look into the scripting option if there's a way to automate this process.
The same synchronization process could be done by using the "book" option. But that involves again manually adding documents to the book one-by-one.

Strange sounds from Mac Pro

Strange clicks going from Mac Pro soon after power up.
It may going from memory cage when temperature of memory is rising.
Any ideas?

Or the graphic card if it has a fan. Or the fans if one is loose.
You should at least for awhile monitor the temperatures with one of the free/shareware utilities. If you push the system, you might even want to boost the fans from their default.
Try running Apple Hardware Test after you check for dust, loose cards. Could it be the PSU?

In order to be cross platform you must be using the Open Type version of all fonts to cause the least disruption. Macs can read and process the Windows .ttf type format but PCs can't process Mac formatted type. Most recent versions also cannot use the older PS Type 1 fonts.

Just upgraded to OSX mavericks on macbook pro mid 2011 version. Having a big issue here that whenever my mac comes back from sleep, i.e after I open the lid, the screen flickers and there is an error of Finder not opening properly. Any fix to this?

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!
