Font looks weird on mac

Hi,
I'm working on a pc. I'm using a dynamic font which I've
embedded into my .swf file and the file looks exactly the same on
my sister's, and my computer at work - both pc's - as it does on my
pc. But on my cousins computer - a mac- the font looks the same
except one character, the "W", always looks kinda filled in, making
it look a little different from the rest. All words are in caps, so
I've only embedded caps. How do I stop this?
Can anyone help?

well you could 'break apart' the text, unless it is dynamic
text you are changing, this in effect changes the text into vector
art. If the font is embedded it should display the same even on a
MAC, it might have something to do with it not being a fixed with
font or the fact that you have the text box placed at a non-integer
point, say x: 102.3 y: 72.1 This might cause the Mac to skew the
letter, make sure the text box is 102,72. Not sure why flash needs
to have points of a pixel anyway!

  • Font looks weird

    Hello.
Since a previous update, my font looks like this:
Starting in safe mode fixes it, but when I try by disabling plugins/addons/extension it still stays. What can I do?
    Thanks

Honestly Jamie, I don't think you lose any noticeable features by having that unchecked. Only graphics nerds are able to tell the difference in my opinion. lol
Everytime I hear about this feature I expect sharper videos with HD like quality or images that look as good as they do on iPhones. But what hardware acceleration '''really''' does is display your web pages as fast as it can. So you go: "Whoa, that loaded fast!". And that's basically all I think it does. That and maybe improve the clarity of fonts... except in your case. :P
Also the fancier your graphics card, the faster your pages will load and I guess the better your fonts will look.

  • Font looks weird in my browser

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).

  • After installing Solid Edge ST6, fonts on IE (like facebook) looks weird.

    Hi
After installing a Educational copy of Solid Edge 6, fonts look weird. It has happened before and I then I uninstalled Solid Edge and the problem was gone. Right now I have to use it for school work and kinda hate browsing facebook and other pages that the
font looks messed up. They look like are pushed from the sides and look kinda thin. Weirdly pages like YouTube and Google look alright. It is not the browsers fault, because the problem is on Chrome aswell.
If needed, the laptop is a HP ProBook 470 G0, running windows 8 pro.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Check if this helps?
IE\Tools\Internet Options\General, under the "Apperance"\"Fonts" change the Font settings.
    As
Milos Puchta mentioned, it's better to contact Siemens support for this issue also happens on  Chrome.

  • Question - Y do my fonts look slightly different when publish site to .mac?

I've created a website on iWeb but when i publish it and view it in safari the fonts look slightly different. It's hard to explain but they basically just look worse. Can anyone let me know why this might be and how i could fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

Quit iWeb, go to Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.iWeb.plist.
Restart your Mac, launch iWeb and republish.
You should really convert any text done in "copperplate" to an image. Otherwise it will be converted to an (ugly) alternative on any computer that doesn't have this font installed.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Mac - All fonts look jagged and pixely

    HI,
I have the problem that all fonts look jagged and pixely when using Photoshop Elements 8 on Mac OS X 10.6.3. I am using the right image size 300dpi and so forth. Interestingly enough this only happens in Photoshop. If I repeat the procedure in Pixelmator everything is normal.
I would really appreciate any suggestions.

Are you simplifying the font layer and then making it larger? Can you explain exactly, step by step, what you're doing?

  • TS4338 I have the font installed and yet, my itunes looks weird. What else can be done?

    Hi,
I have the font installed and yet, my itunes looks weird. What else can be done?
    Thanks in advance

    - Have you tried resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next connect the iPod to your computer. If it shows in iTunes restore the iPod.
    - If it did not show, see if placing the iPod in recovry mode will make it visible so you can restore the iPod.

  • Weird font display on all Mac web applications

Pictured above is a screenshot of what many bold fonts look like on my web applications (Mail, Safari, Firefox, etc.) This has been an ongoing problem and I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it. Any suggestions?

I'd say it's something in your /Library/Fonts folder other than system installed fonts.
But you probably should post in the Safari forums for a Safari related problem, or Mail for mail.

  • Exporting PDF format for web viewing, fonts look bad

Hey everybody I'm relatively new to indesign so sorry if this is a simple one. I'm doing a newsletter in indesign, which will be used stricktly for web viewing. Whenever I export the file as a pdf the body text fonts look a bit off, as though they are slightly pixelated around the edges. This is not as noticable in the artcile titles with larger font, but any smaller font (i'm using size 14, and futura book) and it gets this pixelation, it is even more noticeable in the thinner type sets of the font. Another odd thing is the first page of the newsletter the fonts are more messed up looking than the following pages where the same font types and sizes are used, the only major difference is the first page has a photo on it, but the fonts that look weird are below the photo not overlaying it or anything like that. I turned off all the compression on the pdf export, also tried it will varying amounts of compression but still have the same issue. And I am viewing this in Mac's Preview program, not acrobat.

Ok, just checked through all the flattening preview highlights and everything looked fine in that. Since my exported document looked perfectly fine in acrobat, but sort of pixelated in mac's preview, is there any way around that?
If you are serving the PDF via a web address it will very likely be viewed in a browser (not downloaded and opened in an app like Preview or Reader). All of the browser displays have slightly different anti-aliasing, which you can see if you zoom in on a screen capture of the text. Here's a line of text from your PDF at 100%, magnified to 400% in Photoshop. From top to bottom Safari, Chrome, Firefox:
There's nothing you can do about the anti-aliasing quality of the different browsers and apps. The PDF you posted has live transparency, so it isn't a flattening issue.

  • Fonts Display Weird Sometimes

I'm almost positive it's because of a font I installed but I installed over 1000 so I can't really pinpoint the problem. Anyways, sometimes when I open a document, the font won't be displayed correctly. It will always be displayed in the same weird font too - something that looks like Dark Crystal. It's also not all documents; only select documents show up differently and they consistently do so. I thought the problem was Preview so I downloaded Adobe but the problem persists. Just now, a document opened in Word and the font was weird. According to Word, the font is Times New Roman but it's not.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks in advance.

I've been seeing messages exactly like that (and many, many other kinds) in the Console since the first version of OS X.  They look menacing but are harmless.
You don't need any kind of security software.
Just surf the web carefully, pay attention to where you're going and don't install anything that you don't recognize.  If you are asked to enter an admin user name and password, DON'T.  Unless you know for sure that you initiated the installation from a known and reliable source (like Apple).
Mac malware relies on social engineering.  No amount of security/anti-virus, blah, blah, blah software is going to help.

  • On Google Chrome the Adobe edge web font looks fuzzy and broken-up. Is there a way to fix this?

I have created a website with Adobe Muse and I am using an adobe edge web font that looks great on all browsers except for google Chrome... On chrome the font looks fuzzy and broken-up. Is there a way to fix this??? Thanks.

    Thank you Sanjit,
I have redone the site using using the font TREBUCHET. The font that I was using that was giving me the problem was EXO which is an Adobe Edge Web font. I'd rather use EXO... Here is a screen shot of a sample page, areas where the type looks especially messed up are circled in red.
This only happens when opened in Google Chrome on a Windows PC. However it looks fine with Chrome on my MAC.
