Font menu loses self-hosted web fonts on updating Muse

Muse 2014.2.0.569
When I update muse, the font menu loses the self-hosted web fonts I had added in 2014.1.
Adding the self-hosted web fonts is not an easy piece of work due to the file name obfuscation applied by the supplier, myfonts.com. Repeating this work could take a couple of hours.
Muse should at least remember the user-added self-hosted web fonts. Ideally it would sync them between both my computers.

The prefs for 2014.1 are in:
"~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.1/Local Store" (copy and paste everything, including the tilde ~, but not the quotes, into the Go > Go To Folder dialog in the Finder)
From the old 2014.1 folder you want to copy:
fonts.db
selfhosted
tk1
tk2
into the new prefs folder for 2014.2 at:
"~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.2/Local Store" (copy and paste everything, including the tilde ~, but not the quotes, into the Go > Go To Folder dialog in the Finder)
Once you've done that, when you launch Muse all the self-hosted fonts and Edge Web Fonts you had previous installed or enabled should be present.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • All self-hosted web fonts are deleted after update to latest Muse version (2014.3)

All the self-hosted web fonts are deleted after updating Muse.
It is necessary to import the self-hosted fonts again and then redefine every paragraph style to make it work again.
This is an extra hour of work for every site using self-hosted fonts.
Please make sure to improve this on the next update-release of Adobe Muse.
    Thanks

    Hi Abhishek,
the site is directly uploaded using MUSE Upload to ftp host. When I open it with ftp client, there is off file of etelkawidemedium in fonts file.
And I have tried to upload plain webpage with the same web font -  not made in Muse and it works.

    So what should I do?
The answer from Shaun is little bit complicated for me:)

  • Trouble with self-hosted web font

So I applied a self-hosted web font to my website and it was working. However recently in some browsers the font hasn't been showing up, instead being replaced with helvetica or some other standard web font. Why would it be doing this? I've tried clearing my browser cache and it doesn't work. It's also happening to some of the people visiting my site which is a huge problem.

Hi Sanjit, I have the same problem on this website - green headlines should be in Etelka Wide Medium which my client purchase and I aded to as self hosted web font to adobe muse.
It works normally in Muse, also in preview after export to html but doesn't work online after upload ( I have tried it on two different server). I tried it on easy webpage no using muse and it works properly. What can I do? Font are in the fonts folder after export and also in css. I am working on Macbook Pro with OS X Yosemite, browsers Safari and Google Chrome both.
Thank you very much for your help,

  • Self hosted web fonts not working in IE

    Hi there,
I'm experiencing issues with the self hosted web fonts feature.
I've added a self hosted web font (Context Rounded Bold Condensed) to a website I'm building and it works fine on Chrome, Safari and Firefox.
Internet Explorer is not loading the web font as you can see on these screenshots I've generated here (it's the text 'Jaarverslag 2014' which should look like a rounded, sans-serif condensed bold font and not a serif Times New Roman).
    Anybody familiar with this issue?

  • Self Hosted web fonts not finding system matching font.

I Purchased Museo Sans Rounded form myfonts.com and installed the .ttf font in my iMac, and then i uploaded the additional formats to the Self Hosting fonts panel but I still get the error that it cant find the matching system font (neather was i able to do it manuly). What is interesting is that i cant even find the font in fontbook. My fonts refused to give me support with this claiming that they aren't familiar with Muse and the .ttf is not supported for desktop installation.
It was an expensive purchase, please help me out.
BTW I'd like to continue to use the desktop version of this font from typekit. is it posable or they will conflict?

  • Can i self host a blog on adobe muse

I want to have my blog on my website but I want to use thinglink.com and need a self hosted blog

I'm not understanding your question fully.  From your statement I understand that:
    (1) you currently have a website
    (2) you want to place a blog in your website
    (3) you want to host your website/blog at a host provider different from Adobe catalyst
    (4) you somehow want to link your blog to thinglink
    Do I have it right?
    If so,
Where are you currently hosting your website?
Do you currently have a blog (ie. Wordpress, Blogspot)
How exactly do you want your site to interact with thingkink?
I can help you more with these questions answered.

  • New EA3500 with self hosted web server

Let me start off by giving you some background. I was using a wrt54g previously, and host my own webserver, including my own DNS server. I used port forwarding to forward the web traffic to that computer. Well my family got me a new EA3500 as my old one would continually stop working.
Since changing router when I duplicate the port forwarding setup from old to new, all the web browsing dies. My web server has now been offline for a few days, and I'm frustrated beyond belief now. I know I've seen the previous posts saying to never forward port 53 (DNS), but I'm at a loss why I could with my old router, but it's now the end of the world with this new one.
I have to figure what's needed to get my server online again, and would love to hear from some of the experts out there.
    Brett

Ok, so when I do some random port checks, only showing the few that I've forwarded as open.
    21 FTP
    53 DNS
    80 HTTP
The biggest problem I can't wrap my head around is the fact that other than my new router, the setup is identical and everything was sympatico. Also why when I'm connected via the guest account, I can surf with no problems (but obviously can't access my network).
The server always requests the same IP address from DCHP, so that won't be changed, so static it is I suppose. I host a couple of my own web sites, nothing too fancy.   http://www.thershl.com

  • Problem using Gotham font in Adobe Muse

I am working on a web design project using Adobe Muse for my client who uses predominantly Gotham. They own most of the Gotham font family in .otf and they also have the Gotham SSm (Screen Smart Font) for web use. When trying to load the font to Adobe Muse as a self-hosted web font, Muse cannot load it because the following web fonts formats are missing: .woff, .eot and .svg. Muse also requires that the .ttf font is installed as as a system font. My client only has .otf font. Does this mean that we cannot use Gotham in Muse? Or is there a way around this?

    Hi,
As described in Adobe Muse Help | Typography, Muse can work with .otf fonts as system fonts. .woff/.eot fonts are, however, required for self-hosting.
Also. if your client has access to Gotham Screen Smart web fonts via a Cloud.Typography subscription, note that the Cloud.Typography terms of service do not allow you to serve web fonts in a self-hosted manner. They are are required to be served using their delivery agent via the CSS key mechanism. Cloud.typography Terms of Service | Hoefler & Co.
A manual (and less-than-ideal) workflow to integrate with Cloud.Typography web fonts in Muse is outlined at http://cloudtype.businesscatalyst.com/

  • Hello. I am trying to self host Italia fonts (Book, Bold and Medium) on Adobe Muse. I purchased web fonts from Linotype that are "obfuscated" - which means the name is hidden. Apparently I also need to install system fonts. Can I install with code in muse

Hello! I am trying to self host Italia fonts in muse. I purchased from Linotype the web fonts. But they sent obfuscated fonts and code. I need to also install as system fonts and those do not work for that. We already have different Italia fonts that we owned prior but they are not obfuscated... Is this a problem? Is there an easier way I can do this? TIA!

    Abhishek,
Thank you for the reply. Wanted to comment on a few things.
I reviewed the other post that you've referenced. Nothing unusual jumped out at me as something that I was not aware of. I'm running an older iMac that is in good working condition. 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 24" screen. I know this issue is fleeting, as I stated earlier typically can be corrected with a restart of the CC Desktop application (that I am always running at startup). I have not been able to determine that shutting down Muse corrects the issue. I would, at this time say it doesn't.
I did open InDesign and see if the fonts in question, Open Sans and Open Sans Condensed, were present and usable. They were. The fonts are shown as being synched in my CC Desktop app window (even if they are not "installed" in Muse). That is expected but it may be a bug in how Muse brings in a font from those that are already synched to your CC account. I don't know enough about how that works to comment.
And just to complicate matters, Muse seems to be working again, the fonts that is. I brought them back in and they are showing up in all locations (which there are actually three - see screen shots).
First is primary text menu dropdown (to right of orange "Text").
Second is if you click orange Text link. Another drop down menu appears.
And lastly, the Text Panel to right of screen.
I also wanted to add this extra bit of information, for what it is worth. When the issue arises and you do not get the sub-menu dropdown showing various styles of the font (italics, bold, etc.), one can use click on the missing font if you had used it previously and it is present in the "previously used font" list.
    Cheers!

    Hi,
To add to Rohit's requests, were these screenshots captured on Internet Explorer 8?
There is a known IE8 issue with displaying multiple weights of the same font that are close to each other (e.g., light and extralight).
Also, any particular reason you are using Raleway as a self-hosted font when it is natively supported as an Adobe Edge Web font?
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

  • Using a web font (Coda), but Muse insists on rasterizing

I'm using a web font on my site (http://unit304musicvideoproduction.com/), so it should just show the web font. However, Muse insists on rasterizing it. I haven't done anything funky to it, and it even does it when I select Arial as the font, so I don't understand why it's doing this. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
When you select the text frame (not the text within), does the font menu show Coda or it is blank? Blank indicates "mixed fonts", which could mean you have a lingering system font somewhere within the text frame. Please repeat this test for all states (default, rollover, mousedown, active). A system font in any state will force other states to be rasterized as well.
If you've rules out the possibility of system fonts, please send your Muse file to [email protected] Please include a link to this post.
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

  • Am  I allowed to use the web fonts included with Muse commercially?

For example, Lobster and Lobster two. Can I use these for my business's website?

The Web Fonts that are currently available via the Add Web Fonts dialog in Muse are available for use on any site with no limits on page views or any other limits.
Note the 400+ Web Fonts currently available via the Add Web Fonts UI in Muse is a small subset of all the fonts available via Typekit. At present Muse doesn't have a built-in mechanism to access and use the additional paid/metered fonts available through Typekit. (We're waiting for some work to be completed on the Typekit side of things before we'll be able to offer these additional fonts within Muse.)
The use of Typekit and the set of fonts available through Muse is covered by Adobe's general Terms of Use for services <http://www.adobe.com/misc/terms.html>, as linked to at the bottom of the Add Web Fonts dialog in Muse.

  • Self Hosted Help Desk

I am creating Users for my IT team and notice that the links go to track.spiceworks.com. I notice that this creates a user for the Help Desk App and on the community pages. Before I move forward I just want to know if what if any information of help desk app is shared with spiceworks servers. I don't want our things like ticket information or users credentials being stored where we don't have control over access. Thanks

    Hi Adam,
Thanks for your fast response.  I think the problem I had was that I am not a coder and use Muse as it should be,  for someone who is more of a designer instead.
The issue, which was one that I could not find any information, resolution not instructions about, is that you must do all you have stated to add self hosted fonts into Muse and your computer, these will then work perfectly in Muse and if you "Preview Web Page in Broswser".... but will NOT show up if you PUBLISH the website to the internet, hosted fonts will change to a default.
The ANSWER that is woking for me is that I am exporting to HTML first and the using Cyberduck or FileZilla as the FTP.... I had to create a file called FONTS in the root directory of my website and then dump ALL the font files.... SVG OET WOFF TFF (everything) into that file and make sure its published to my live site... that seems to work.
It may be that if you use Muse own Upload to FTP Host direct to publish then it automatically will do this but when I export to HTM first it doesn't do it.
I scoured the internet and could only find one reference to this and it may be that this is the answer to many peoples problems as it doesn't seem to be widely known that you have to do this.
