Steve,
I remember that fonts in PDF generated by Oracle Reports is a big topic and a subject of many Metalink notes (metalink.oracle.com).
Note.210318.1 Ext/Pub How To use font embedding in Reports 9i for PDF output
Note.207711.1 Ext/Pub How to Use Font Subsetting in Reports 9i for PDF Output
Note 232975.1 "Windows/Unix Font Issues: What Information is Required to address the Issue and How to Work Around Issue"
Especially on Unix and Linux systems, there are some font mapping required. I suggest to run this question on the Reports forum here on OTN where I think you have better chances for an answer.

  • Font problem in reports produced in PDF format

    Dear all,
All our reports are developed by developer suite 10g (under windows) and deployed on an Application Server 10g (on Linux).
We had a problem with displaying the arabic letters, but this was solved by following the steps in the metalink Note no 726205.1 for generating arabic pdf reports on unix.
Now, the problem is that the font used in the reports is ARIAL, but when the reports are displayed (in PDF format) the font is TAHOMA. This font conversion happens in both Arabic and English reports !
I wonder how can I correct this behaviour.
Thanks in advance for your time.

  • Font problem in reports, IAS Version:  10.1.2.2.0

    Dear all,
I have installed about 20 applications servers on windows but never met this problem before.
I am facing the problem in viewing the report output on the Windows 2003, Oracle Application server
Installation Type: Forms and Reports Services
    Version: 10.1.2.2.0
I am using Arial 10 as default Font of the report,
but in output I am getting another font.
    Please Help!
    Regards,
    Tobias

I have found this reference on a search of oracle:
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_trouble.htm
Section D1.11 says this is a know problem and to copy one registry entry to another, however, this entry does not exist on the Windows 2003 server this is running on.
    Any ideas?
D.1.11 Printing and Font Errors When Using In-process Server
The in-process server does not recognize the default printer of a user currently logged on to Windows. This is because the service that runs the in-process server is logged on as the Local System.
    Problem
    Any of the following:
    * Printing to default printer fails with the REP_3002 error. For example, the following command:
    http://myrepsrvr.us.oracle.com:7777/reports/rwservlet?report=myrep.rdf&destype=printer&desformat=html
results in the following error: Error:"REP-3002: Error initializing printer. Please make sure a printer is installed."
    * Deploying reports containing Oracle6i Graphics (OGD) graphics causes Reports Server to stop responding.
    * Font alignment problems in a PDF file output from an in-process server.
    Solution
To work around all these issues:
    1. Open the Windows registry using a registry editor (for example, regedit.exe). Create a backup of the registry before you edit it.
    2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Windows
    3. Copy the string value of Device for this key. For example: \\MOWGLI\sierra,winspool,Ne02:
    4. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Windows
    5. Paste the Device value copied from HKEY_CURRENT_USER (the string value of Device for this key will be empty).

give it time to boot. the time depends on yr memory size n data. soon a process bar will appear indicating the boot process. if still this doesnt work. try formating the phone. but this ways u lose all data on the phone (unless u backed it). relax! the data on the memory card is safe.

  • PDF font problem on Solaris (Reports9i)

    Hi.
We are recently moving our application from 9ias Release 1 to 9ias Relese 2. After several configuration problems I was managet to get most of it to running, but encountered big problem with Reports. In Reports6i we used font aliasing, and included several modified fonts with AcrobatReader3. With AcrobatReader5 it's not posible because of more strict checking of PDF standard.
Then of course with Reports9i we start using PDF font subsetting. After added several ttf's (Arial, Courier New, Times New Roman) it started working fine with one exception. Report created with plain Courier New 10pts is not subsetted - in pdf i receive fixed-bold 12 pts.
It happening only with this one size of font. Courier New with size 10 pts and bold or italic looks good. When I change size to 9 or 11 pts - it's ok. I've checked if fonts existed in Xserver - they are.
I double checked uifont.ali - it's ok. I've temporarily solved the problem by changing font in builder on Windows from Courier New to Courier (same size), and then everything works ok. Of course it might be solving - but for the amount of work (about 200 reports) I'm looking for more 'normal' solution.
    Any ideas?
Reports server working on Sun Sparc Solaris 5.8, 9ias Release 2 (Patch 2).
Builder works on WindowsXP, 9ids Release 2 (Patch2).
    Czesiek.

Reports 6 or Reports 9? Note that Reports 6 does not generate
syntactically correct RTF for Unicode characters.
We've been running with a postprocessor to correct the RTF and
to change the Oracle-set font to Arial; I'll be watching to see if
there's a better way since our postprocessor shouldn't be needed.

  • Font problem

    Hi,
i am using reports 6i on windows.
the generated pdf files have corrupted fonts so i have tried changing the font property in the report builder.
but whether i change the font to Times New roman, times new roman turkish or arial & save, the selected font is changed western when reopened.
i mean i select arial turkish , after reopen it has been arial western automatically. how to handle this?
    thanks in advance.

If you are developing a report with oracle reports on a PC with for example Windows XP, the tool uses the fonts made available from Windows. After deploying your report to a UNIX server for real use, the report uses the fonts available from your UNIX machine. Even when UNIX has the same font and/or fontsize available, there is still a difference of some pixels! When the font is not on UNIX, UNIX try to use a similar font. This can give major problems with labels that are to small...etc. I've been told that Oracle 10G solves most of these problems by attaching the used font in the report.

  • Font problem in PDF

I have the following problem :
I am using REPORT 6i , when I run a report that contains arabic text it work OK on the previwer but when I generate this report to PDF file I can't read the arabic text it appears distorted, help me plz ...

    Hi,
I have another problem with the PDF text alignment.
I am using Oracle 9iDS for developing the reports and PDF version 6.0. There's a letter typ report that I am making. In the signature part the fields are right aligned. They are aligned correctly when viewed at our end.
But when I deploy the report at the server (Oracle 9iAS) at our client's location, and view the report in PDF, the signature text doesn't seem to be aligned. The results are the same even if I use the text fields instead of the fields.
However, this problem is not there if I align the text to the left. How do I solve the problem? Is this problem occuring because of the difference of uifont.ali file on our machines? Here I would mention that we have installed Asian fonts on our machines. Am using SJIS and unicode fonts for the reports. The only difference between the clients machine and ours is that they are using more fonts than us.
Can you help us out with this issue?
Why is the difference inspite of the similar configuration.
    OS is Win 2K.

    Swati

  • Adding Barcode Font, Other PDF reports complete in warning

    Hello guru's,
I am needing assistance with a barcode font problem that I am having. We have followed instructions on Tim's blog about adding barcode fonts but the concurrent program completes in a 'warning' status.
Also, other reports that were developed in Word that are getting output to PDF format are also completing with a warning(even though they have no Barcode Font on them). When I try to view the output through EBS it will not let me view it(though it will let us print the report to a post-script printer with a pdfTOps printer driver).
Interestingly enough, when we remove the Font Mapping(which was done at a site level) all the reports without barcodes complete successfully and can be viewed through EBS(and the report with the barcode font completes in a warning). So my question is, why does this happen and how do I fix the issue? It appears as though the Font Map which we created is not allowing the predefined fonts in XML publisher to work properly?
    Thanks in advance!!!

Which version of XML Publisher are you in? You might have to install a patch for bar code to show up on PDF outputs.
Please take a look at metalink note: 373377.1 (in the bottom of this document, please see the patch info along with error info).

  • OCR Font Problem

    Post Author: jeromehou
    CA Forum: .NET
I am working on a web application using asp.net 2.0.  I have a report using crystal and exporting it into a pdf file.  The problem I have is the OCR font.  The OCR font can be displayed well while running the application on my local box.  But when I put the web app in the production box, the OCR font is not displayed properly.  My question is do I need to embedded the OCR font in the report?  Thanks THanks

    Hi Naresh,
we worked with OCR-B font on cheques with SAPscript (on 4.6c and on 6.0). The bank was not completely satisfied with the result but they finally accepted it (they told us that it was not exactly 12 point large although we set it to 12 point in SAP).
Have you checked the print preview in SAP? Can you see OCR-B there? Maybe your printer has problems with this font.
Please try the following: Set one paragraph to ARIAL or TIMES (for example) and one to OCR-B and print the cheque. Check if you can see a different font for both paragraphs. If no, please check again the settings for the used paragraph format.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • Photoshop CS (1) and font problems (Mac OS X Leopard)

A friend of mine has Photoshop CS (1) on his G5 (running on Leopard) and he says that he has font problems ONLY IN PHOTOSHOP. Bad fonts, missing fonts. Now, whether he uses a font management software or not is not important since that problem does not happen in other programs (like Illustrator). Are there issues between Photoshop CS and fonts.
    Thanks

CS1 works on my friend's desktop which runs on Leopard but it doesn't seem to work on a Macbook which runs on Leopard. We've installed it and it's reported that installation is complete but upon opening the program, an error message states that certain files had not been installed and to reinstall the program to recover them. We've tried reinstalling multiple times but to no avail. Any explanation?

    Update:
Tried reinstalling, change the fonts, remove all font clear the cache.
change, look up the settings, looked up size, tried monitor dpi.
checked all the config files for anything remotely related to this problem.
Had a quick look at the bug tracker for google-chrome-beta as well no reported
font problems as far as i can find.
    Update2:
Tried adding custom.css to the browser not even that worked.
    update3: [SOLVED]
    So i solved the problem.
The problem was a faulty font that was stuck and used in the pre somehow.
Removed and added another to the list and somehow that worked.
recommendations - if anyone has this problem in the future.
open firefox and look in the font tab what is used. and remove that
or try to install a fixed one. that should work.
-Nothing has yielded any working results.
So any ideas at this point would be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
