Font problem when executing a swing program
Hi! I'm learning to write a simple swing program. The program compiled successfully. When I excuted it, everything worked fine except that I got the following error message:
Font specified in font.properties not found [--symbol-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific]
It's somewhat annoying. Do you have any solution?
Thank you,
Liheng
Thank you. I tried to run Font2DTest. But it didn't work, "Exception in thread "main" java.util.zip.ZipException: No such file or directory"
I'll keep trying.......
In JDK under the directory demo/jfc/Font2DTest, there
is a demo program that shows all available fonts on
your system. You can find the available font names.
Then in the font.properties file in jre/lib, search
for the font name in your error message and replace it
with an available name from Font2DTest.
Are you using Unix? What OS, Solaris, Linux?

"font" problems when converting InDesign file to negative
the printing service we use for our college newsletter, which is done in InDesign CS3, says he is having "font problems" when he turns the file into a negative (the master used for printing paper copies of the newsletter). I use only a standard font, "Times," in various sizes.
he did not have this problem with InDesign CS2, and he is as yet unable to explain exactly what the problems are but said there are 3 pieces of equipment involved that each contribute to the problem: old vs new operating systems (OS) in RIP unit and workstation to newest applications and older RIP unit. (I haven't a clue what any of this means...)
he has asked we create an "outline" of the InDesign file before sending it and believes doing that may help. however, when I create an outline of the document, all of the font turns bright red-- is this what is supposed to happen or am I doing something wrong?
can anyone help me figure out how to help the printer?
FA NEWS editor
(linda)The .sitx file extension is a Stuffit executable, a way of compressing files so that they take less time to transfer. This has nothing to do with your problem.
What I'm recommending is that you Export PDF (File > Export > Adobe PDF). Choose the Press Quality preset and send the resulting PDF to your printer. Scott's suggestion will give you a PDF with outlined type, but before you go that route, try a Press Quality PDF, which will have live type and embedded fonts.
The best reason for sending PDF to your printer is to avoid font problems.

RuntimeException when executing application mapping program
Dear Friends
I am trying to send an Idoc from R3 system to an SCMTM system.
I have imported the idoc, message mapping is preconfigured from SAP and requisite configurations in ID have been completed.
I am getting this error in test of Interface mapping (operation mapping).
RuntimeException when executing application mapping program com/sap/xi/tf/_DESADVDELVRY03_to_ShipmentRequestRequest_; Details: com.sap.aii.mappingtool.tf7.IllegalInstanceException; Cannot create target element /ns0:ShipmentRequestRequest. Values missing in queue context. Target XSD requires a value for this element, but the target-field mapping does not create one. Check whether the XML instance is valid for the source XSD, and whether the target-field mapping fulfils the requirement of the target XSD.
Please help.
Thank You
Warm Regards
Arjun GhoseHi,
it seems that per your XSD the element "/ns0:ShipmentRequestRequest" needs to be created and filled with a value (occurance min 1). But appearently within your mapping you do not create or fill this element. So the validation of the XML against the XSD fails.
Please check your mapping regarding the element "/ns0:ShipmentRequestRequest".

Expdp problem when executing from pl/sql transportable tablespaces
Hello
i have a very strange problem for which your assistance is really appreciated. i am applying the transportable tablespaces approach and i have a problem when executing expdp from commandline in comparison to the procedure generated to make the exact same thing.
more precisely when running:
expdp etl/etl dumpfile=TBSP090609_DMP.dmp logfile=TBSP090609_DMP.log directory=EXPDP transport_tablespaces=TBSP090609 transport_full_check=y
the dmp file produced is over 200MB.
when runng the below pl/sql code the volume produced is around 50MB. any idea what i am missing?
job_handle :=
dbms_datapump.OPEN (operation => 'EXPORT',
job_mode => 'TRANSPORTABLE',
job_name => 'export_tablespace',
VERSION => 'COMPATIBLE'
dbms_datapump.add_file (handle => job_handle,
filename => dump_file_name,
DIRECTORY => export_dir_name
dbms_datapump.set_parameter (handle => job_handle,
NAME => 'TTS_FULL_CHECK',
VALUE => 1
dbms_datapump.metadata_filter (handle => job_handle,
NAME => 'TABLESPACE_LIST',
VALUE => '('''
|| tablespace_name
|| ''')'
dbms_datapump.start_job (job_handle);thanx you for your response. the problem was eventually managed to be resolved as follows:
job_handle :=
dbms_datapump.OPEN (operation => 'EXPORT',
job_mode => 'TRANSPORTABLE',
job_name => 'export_tablespace',
VERSION => 'COMPATIBLE'
dbms_datapump.add_file (handle => job_handle,
filename => dump_file_name,
DIRECTORY => export_dir_name
dbms_datapump.set_parameter (handle => job_handle,
NAME => 'TTS_FULL_CHECK',
VALUE => 1
dbms_datapump.metadata_filter (handle => job_handle,
NAME => 'TABLESPACE_EXPR',
VALUE => 'IN('''
|| tablespace_name
|| ''')');
dbms_datapump.start_job (job_handle); -
I want to be able to execute a swing program from my desktop
i want to be able to execute a swing program from my desktop but i dont know how to go about it. Till now to run the programs i used command prompt. please can you guys help me cross this huddle. I need step by step solution to do this
In Windows, you associate a .jar file with javaw. YOu can do this with a right-click on the system icon, if I recall correctly.
Another option is to wrap the jar file in an executable wrapper so it looks like an .exe. I have used JSmooth to good effect for this.
Good luck. It is only modestly tricky -
How to generate checks when executing Automatic Payment Program (F110)
Is it possible to generate checks automatically when I execute the automatic payment program? Will reward points to any suggestion. Thanks!
hi patrick
try this.....ur problem may solve.....
Create Automatic Payment Transactions (F110)
Purpose
Use this procedure to generate checks proposals or ACH proposals and then subsequently issue checks or set up ACH files to be transmitted to the bank.
Trigger
Perform this procedure when through either an ACH or a check, a creditor of the University needs to be paid.
Prerequisites
Open invoices with reached due dates have to be present in the SAP system.
Menu Path
Use the following menu path to begin this transaction:
· Select Accounting Financial Accounting Accounts Payable Periodic processing Payments to go to the Automatic Payment Transactions: Status screen.
Transaction Code
F110
Business Process Information
The automatic payment process will be centrally managed in the Accounts Payable Office. The automatic payment program will be executed each day for all open invoices (across vendors) in the system. There will be separate payment run execution corresponding to each payment method category:
Check payments: clears the open invoices and issues a check output
ACH payments: clears the open invoices and issues an ACH file output
Foreign currency payments: clears open invoices but no output is issued
State/Grant payments: clears open invoices but no output is issued
The process steps executed during the automatic payment program are:
Enter Payment Parameters
Edit/review Payment Proposal
Post Payments
Generate Payment Medium (print checks or create ACH payment file)
Generate Positive Payment File
The payment parameters are entered in order to limit the open invoices and credits selected for payment. It is important to note that the payment terms that are defined on the invoice will drive whether a invoice is due for payment during the current payment run. During the payment program execution, the invoices that are due for payment will be presented to the user on a payment proposal list.
The payment proposal is a list of expected payments grouped by vendor account. Invoices that are due for payment but cannot be paid due to some kind of accounting or system error are listed as exceptions. Examples of typical exceptions are missing banking information (for ACH payments) and blocked invoices. Some payment exceptions will be resolved at the Accounts Payable Office. However the Department must resolve some exceptions. When these types of exceptions appear on the payment proposals, the Accounts Payable Office will inform the Department of the blocked payment in order to get a resolution. Key personnel in the Accounts Payable Office will be the only resources to have access to the editing function of the payment proposal processing. Typically, there is no business reason the edit or change a payment proposal. Editing options for a payment proposal includes: changing the default disbursing bank account information or changing the payment method.
After the payment proposals have been reviewed and edited, the proposals are posted as payments. It is important to note that any open credit on the vendor's account is also taken in consideration when creating the vendor's payment. The payment method supplement defined on the invoice will drive the check sorting.
In addition to the printed check output, the payment program run produces an ACH file and a Positive Pay file. Both files are sent to the bank for further processing. The ACH file contains the vendor's payment and banking data. The Positive Pay file contains the check data (check processed, voided, etc) and is used for confirmation of payments.

No pop up displayed for user defined variables when executed from a program
Dear All,
We have created user entry variables for the characteristic(s) with replacement type as 'User Defined Values' in the planning area.
When I am running the planning function from BPS0, I am getting the pop up for the variables perfectly.
But, when I execute this planning function from a program by calling the function module 'API_SEMBPS_FUNCTION_EXECUTE' I am not getting the pop up for the user entry variables.
Is there any way where in I can get the pop up for the variables when I run the program?
Regards,
Srini.Srinivas
You might want to check if the variable has a default value. Try "removing" the defautl value and check if it works.

Font problem when converting to pdf
I have been struggling with this for a long time! When I export to pdf for some reason the fonts become really mangled. I use several fonts but it is especially baskerville 12 that looks really bad. I have searched and searched but can't figure out why it comes out like that?
If anyone can be of help it will be much appreciated!I have the same issue. From what I found online it originated sometime during this update (http://indesignsecrets.com/mac-os-x-10-6-7-update-causes-font-problems—but-proba bly-not-in-indesign.php)? I am running OSX Lion but it seems the issue was inherited...
My situation is using Pages with Baskerville font. It appears wonky in Adobe Reader but as expected in Preview.
Found a temporary fix at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4320355#4319047 . It would be nice for this to be included in an upcoming patch.

Performance Problem when executing the report for the first time.
Hi,
We have a Zreport...to improve the performance i created Index on few Data Base table..before my changes it used to take more than 15 minutes after the changes it taking less than 1 min for the same variant and for other variants also.
But when executing the first in morning its taking the same time more than 15 min.Please let me know how to increase the performance when executing first time also,
Thanks,
Kiran.Hi all,
Appreciate your valuable replies...
@ Thomas: i do accept with your solution running a background job..but user is not accepting for it..thanks for your reply.
@Siegfried Boes : for testing purpose Im running this manytimes..but for user they may
require when ever they need to know open oders.the volume of the data is barongs 300-350 at
max.
@Brad Bohn : After creating the index the repose time reduced to half ...i hope i have
created a right index.
Observation here...I executed the report in production system more than 5 times it took the
same time, my changes are still in quality..so i think may be for selecting the right index
its taking this much time.and for the next time is taking right index n doing it so it taking
less.
Do you accept it?.if so Please let me know how to explicitly say the select statement to
use my index.
Thanks,

Diagnosis

System response Internal error text: "Error opening an RFC connection."
Procedure

Thanks.Hi,
this looks like your IGS has crashed and somehow needs to be restarted. I also assume that the IGS patchlevel is old in comparison to the newest version in the Service Marketplace.
Please update the IGS (which includes a restart) or ask your basis team to upgrade the IGS.
FYI: Note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/931900">931900</a> describes how to discover the IGS patchlevel even when it is not running.

Fonts problems (unix executable file)
Hi,
I've a mac os x 10.4.11(tiger) G5 and a new mac os x 10.5.2(leopard)Imac both connected on a server.
I've many differents fonts on the server. On the G5, I can take all the fonts on the server, put them on my desktop and they will keep their extensions. On the Imac, when i do the same, only the *.ttf et *.otf are recognized, and all the others (font suitcase, postscript type 1 outline font, etc...) are known as unix executable file (0 ko). So, i've to go on my G5, create a zip file of the fonts, open my zip on my desktop's Imac (not on my server, because same problem) and then I've all my fonts with the right extension.
My font software is (on my both mac) is Linotype FontExplorer X Version 1.2.3.
What I've to do, to proceed in the same way on my Imac as on my G5, and not create a zip?
ThanksI knew this sounded familiar. Mark Douma posted this on a very similar thread a while back.<hr>Notice the "__MACOSX" folder in the expanded archive? That's evidence that the original archive was created using the built-in "Create Archive" function of the Finder, but that the archive on your end was expanded using Stuffit Expander 8.0.1 or earlier.
ZIP files don't normally support resource forks, so when you create a zip file of fonts, the program needs to some method of preserving this information. In Stuffit Expander versions 8.0.1 and earlier, it used its own method to preserve this information (before creating the final zip file, it would first encode each included file as a MacBinary (.bin) file).
Unfortunately, the built-in "Create Archive" feature of the Finder (BomArchiveHelper.app, actually) uses a different method, one which you're seeing evidence in the "__MACOSX" folder in the images shown. Inside that folder are the "other halves" of the files you want to use.
There are two possible solutions:
1) Instead of using Stuffit Expander to expand the .zip files, use the built-in feature of OS X. To do this, select a .zip file in the Finder, and choose Command-i to open a Get Info window. In the Open With section, make sure that "BomArchiveHelper.app" (Tiger and earlier) or "Archive Utility.app" (Leopard) is set to open the archives. If it isn't, click the pop-up menu, choose Other, and navigate to the /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder and choose the appropriate application for your version of OS X. Then click the Change All button to apply this to all .zip files. Then locate the original .zip and expand it once again.
2) Update your version of Stuffit Expander to version 8.0.2 or later. Allume changed the method it used to preserve information in zip files to match that of the Finder's method in Expander 8.0.2 and later. After updating, locate the original .zip file and expand it once again.
There may also be an advanced way of salvaging these files shown toward the end of the following movie.
The following movie shows the predicament (I haven't had a chance to add sound or text, but it should hopefully be self-explanatory).
Notice the version of Stuffit Expander used to expand the archive is 8.0, which exhibits the same problematic behavior you're seeing:
http://homepage.mac.com/mdouma46/images/zipFilesAndFonts.mov (~8.0 MB).
Hope this helps.... <hr>
Essentially, it's all in how the fonts were compressed or sent. Trying to send Mac fonts as direct attachments in an email will almost certainly ruin them. As Mark stated above, how they were zipped and then unzipped can also create empty fonts. -
Weird problem when executing an update statement
Please help me out with this issue. This a very weird problem i'm facing while executing the following update statement.
update tblo.S_TABLE c
SET (ACCNT_NAME, ACCNT_LOC)
=
(select NAME, LOC from S_TABLE1 p
where p.ROW_ID = c.ACCNT_ID)
where ROW_ID = 'XXXXX'
The statement executes perfectly fine in "SQL Plus" but when i try from my application or any SQL Tool that uses ODBC, it fails with the following error
<eb1>ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected
State:S1000,Native:923,Origin:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]</eb1>
ODBC Driver Used: 9.2.0.2.0Yes this could most probably be resolved by upgrading the driver. I'hv tried MS Oracle ODBC driver but that is even more problematic!
The applications works fine in another environment which uses a Merant ODBC driver. Thanks for your time and advice. -
Font problem when downsizing file in Adobe Acrobat pro 9
We currently use Quark on our pcs and sometimes when we need to downsize the hi res print ready
pdf to low res. We do this in acrobat but what tends to happen is that the fonts either shift or
go across the page. Can anyone help with this? there are two of us running 9 while the rest of the crew are operating 4,
although I do not think that this is the problem. Can external ads cause a problem?
thanks
NitaExternal ads?
Open the original external ads and check for font embedding. If the fonts are not embedded (or subset), than Acrobat has no font data for the spacing and such.
I have to ask however...when you create a "hi res print ready" pdf from Quark...with a placed pdf without fonts embedded (or subset) does Quark not realize or warn you that the fonts are not available?!?
